Bitter Sweet

Creamy vanilla-pudding-like, well, vanilla and a cloud of chemical-synthetic-medicinal waste products. Bear with me -- I love Bitter Sweet --- but I am also a sucker for weird scent combos. So, on the one hand, we have a *beautiful*, delightfullly pleasant vanilla and on the other hand, we have a darkness, a weirdness, something bitter, bordering poisonous. Pepper plays a significant role in this poison, angelica, the scent of old moist basements as well as smooth suede. This duel between the bitter and the sweet rests on a dirty, almost animalic base. This scent is truly reminiscent of the famed Cuir Beluga but Bitter Sweet is like a gutter version of this theme. Dirty, loud, in-yer-face, deeply sensual, brutally honest.

Wooho... the ultimate Dupe to Guerlains Cuir Beluga! Perfect Vanilla and smooth Leather. Love it! Not exactly the same, but realy similar.

Is everybody aware that Bitter Sweet smells like a Lutens? Rich and peppery spices for breakfast, dark and super oily vanilla with a medicinal vibe for lunch and a dry, lighter, somewhat sandy and more "vanilla" vanilla (haha pun intended) for dinner. Can't make out leather as a note but it has a certain suede smoothness. Also I get some cedar. Lasts about 6 hours on skin and more than 2 days on fabric (where it develops just as well). You can use it sparingly so there's also good value for money. You would certainly never expect something like that from a "silly bags" brand. Good stuff!

This is one of my current favourites. "Bitter Sweet" suits it well as a name. It's very different from all other scents that are out there at the moment. You have the sweetness of the Black Vanilla and tonka bean, but it's not really a very sweet scent. It goes into the gourmand direction, but is very dark and also a bit spicy. I think that the black pepper, opoponax, angelica and suede stay out well. So it is a bit on the male side but not too much. The scent to me is like "bitter chocolate" in aroma (it's not a chocolate scent): Tasty, dark and different.

What a nice surprise. There is this powdery vanilla-tonka sweetness paired with a kind of unsweetness (not bitter though) that remotely reminds me of the same background as in BVLGARI ́s "Jasmin Noir". Their EdP version has a similar note. To me it smells somehow like marzipane without sugar. Still delicious but not overpowering. Is this stuff worth 50 Euro ? Hmm...not quite in my humble opinion but I could get the bottle for a good bargain. Nothing new under the sun but still a cuddly warm scent for the colder season - and perfect for the holidays !
