Ferre for Men

ferre for men is one of the best releases of the last 15 years. it is a perfect combo of iris, floral and oakmoss. the iris is more masculine compared to dior homme, the rose, the patchuli and sandalwood are so well blended to give you a fantastic, classy, gentleman vibe. it is very italian and modern. the powderiness is gorgeous without the "make up bag" taste. this scent is so underrated, i cant understand why. maybe only the great SCENTLAND is still talking about this masterpiece, ferre for men deserves more hype for sure. the performance is good, nothing impressive in terms of projection and longevity, just average. better for winter and fall, casual and nightout situations. i found for a great price in a little store after years of searching, this is not so easy to find. is it discontinued? i hope is still in production. un profumo eccezionale, vellutato e virile allo stesso tempo. scent-9 long-7,5 sillage-7,5 uniqueness-8,5 versatility-8 bottle-8 compliment factor-7 my vote-9 in one word- charming

Elegant and understated...especially the excellent drydown. For those occasions when you just want to wear something for yourself without worrying about the rest of the world. Ferre (2006) somehow reminds me of Xeryus Mythique. Two very different bottles from two different eras yet both evoke the same frame of mind. Ferre for Men is similar in structure to Dior Homme (thank you, gas chromatography), but I prefer the former. Where Dior Homme strives for minimalism, Ferre for Men not only increases the number of notes but also complements them (again, thanks, gas chromatography!); somewhat like getting Frankie Valli in Dior, the entire Four Seasons in Ferre. It is a definite improvement on DH (because I like it better)...but it's not Dior...and for most people, that's the end of the discussion.

This is another fragrance I have to pull out the "shed" aka the cologne stash. If you love iris, well look no further. Now at first, I was like...do I need another Dior-ish frag...????? Well, this gives you a switch-a-roo. It gives more of a citrus tone to this with a touch of vanilla to give it an oriental feel as well in the background--not too much. What that means for us? Basically, it is an all year fragrance. Now, it is not too powdery though to my nose. It is just enough to notice that iris note and appreciate all notes that makes this feel like a walk in a beautifully landscape backyard. Many Dior fans would have to ask, "Excuse me, what fragrance are you wearing? It smells good. For real." P.S. Price is super good for what you get...IJS= I'm just saying ;) YT ShavenontheDarkside

This is an Excellent Fragrance and A Hidden Gem ! Masculine, Modern, Fruity, Clean and Floral. It has High Quality Composition with reasonable price, A MASTERPIECE by Pierre Bourdon and Gianfranco Ferre House. Nowadays It is very Rare and hard to find. It doesn't smell similar to lipstick or women cosmetics ! It opens up with semi sweet fruity and floral notes in the background then dry down is a bit powdery sweet, musky , mossy and woody. It is sweet but It is not cloying. This perfume is perfect for the all seasons. I really enjoy it and I fell in love with first sniff. I'm so glad that I have it in my collection. Longevity is Average, Highly Recommended. Two Thumbs Up. Bravo Monsieur Pierre Bourdon ! Rating : 8 / 10

Soft, delicate and classy. These are the words that I use to describe Ferre. The fragrance starts out sweet initially but soon dries down to a delicate scent. I don't think sillage is that great so this is one to wear when you feel there is no need to really stand out and where you want to simply have a scent for yourself and have someone close to you notice you as well. For the price, you can't go wrong as I don't think this is a fragrance that will offend anyone. This is not really a casual everyday type of fragrance but one to wear where you want to step out in front of people without having your fragrance scream at them. Wearing this to places like church, weddings, dinner parties, etc. would be ideal.

This is a very sophisticated fragrance. So refined and stylish that its difficult to put into words. It does NOT remind me of any mainstream scents of nowadays. Soft but but at the same time displaying a great character and definitely manly. Usually I dont like powdery fragrances and also dont like pineapple but somehow Pierre Bourdon managed to create a blend which is totally satisfying. Also, the use of oakmoss is just done right. In the drydown phase it stays persistent and satisfies with a discrete presence. Timeless value with great sillage and staying power! Definitely one of my favourite fragrances which suits any weather and any occasion! Bravo!

I bought Ferre for Men blind and thought that it will be similar to Dior Homme (which I don ́t like). I am happy that it has exactly 0 percent similarity to Dior Homme. I get a very elegant, iris, rose, pineapple combination. It ́s much more comparable to Creed Aventus than to Dior Homme. The pineapple here is made very well. The whole scent projects very soft, almost cautious. It does ́t scream here I am, but it says, I am with you, if you stay by my side. Feminine, no. This is pure elegance, made for an evening dinner in the Restaurant.

Ferre for Men is quite romantic scent; perfectly fit its olfactive group. It's soft and smooth without being powdery. Floral and fruity notes blend together to create slightly sweet and dreamy scent. I get a bit of the similarity from Moschino Uomo? and maybe YSL L'Homme too, but Ferre for Men is smoother and more subtle but it can get waxy. I can see myself wearing this very often but it's too bad I only have the 1oz bottle.

Well blended. None of the notes really jump out at you but they work well in combination. I was surprised that leather isn't among the notes but that's the vibe I get: 50% leather, 25% spices and vetiver, and 25% soft florals. I usually don't go for floral notes, but I'll make an exception for this one.

Stylish and elegant perfection! I dont get pineapple, theres nothing zesty about this fragrance, its dense, bit powdery, with the most beautiful rose I have smelled so far in any fragrance. Its standing on a manly, intelligently base of oakmoss and tonka. Its performance is superior! Bravo Bourdon!

.....I am always coming back to this beauty. Its so gorgeous and well blended that it does actually slowly makes itself crawling into my top 5. Romantic, smooth & classy in contemporary manner! One of the most intelligently composed designer scents I know.

@arvanitispanos its worth every penny. I was unimpressed at first but i found myself going for it every time. There are colognes that at first will blow your mind but then you find it to be too much and practically unwearable. This is the exact opposite.

A very suave and sophisticated male fragrance most suitable for the office or warmer days. Imagine Creed Aventus and Dior Homme Eau had a child, this would be it and better! Gianfranco Ferre issues are excellent but underrated!

Guys you are victims of olfactory fatigue or you used fake bottles. This fragrance has a great development which delivers various stages of the perfume throughout the entire day, on clothes even longer.

I am absolutely LOVING my splash samples that I ordered. Wow! What a gem! I would love to have a full bottle of this someday! Get your nose on this one. Classic yet modern... feel-good frag.

Oakmoss, oakmoss, everywhere - and in a good way. This for me is the oakmoss king. That aside, it's very "coloney", very airy, very clean cut and neat smelling. Perfect for office use.

its very similar to dior homme

I came across this frag a couple of weeks ago, when I tried I wasn't sure if I would like it. Like most colognes before I buy it I have to try it at least 2x. The second time I tried the best way I can describe the aroma is that it had a unique aroma which wasn't like anything I had smelt before. After awhile it it took on this weird but a much better aroma which made it AWESOME. I have to agree with Castor don't let the first 10 min fool you..it almost happened to me and I wouldn't of bought it if I didn't let it settle ! After the first 10min the frag takes on a real powdery scent with a floral/woodsy aroma. The first notes I pick up is Black Iris/rose with touch of Orange Blossom which gives that sweet/bitter aroma when you first spray it on your skin. After awhile you can also smell geranium and a touch of sandalwood as well a touch of amber/muck to give this frag a warm tone. What I like is that both tonka bean and patchouli do not spoil this frag making it too sweet. I have purchased other Ferre fragrance, but I would have to say that this one is more likely THE best aside from the original Gianfranco Ferre. Overall opinion, If you are looking for a really nice frag which isn't as common nor generic....THIS FRAGRANCE IS THE ONE!!!! I have tested many fragrance and this frag has the quality of a Hermés or even YSL a real well balanced cologne with a floral/woodsy scent. Longevity is well past 8 hours Sillage is average not too heavy just moderate. No doubt 8/10

This is pretty good, but I'm mildly disappointed given my expectations. Supposedly this is very similar to Versace Dreamer and Dior Homme, but I find the scent profile closer to a Chanel Allure Homme or Lalique Pour Homme Le Faune, both of which I have and like. Sweet and mildly powdery. The accord stack listed for Ferre for Men is pretty similar to Allure Homme and Le Faune. The iris does not nearly lend it as makeup powdery as Dior Homme. Very different, and better imo. I became interested in this fragrance because it was a pre-Aventus example of Pierre Bourdon's use of a pineapple note. Bourdon's protegé Jean-Claude Herault created Aventus, featuring a pineapple note, just four years later. I'm still partially anosmic post-covid, so it is difficult to judge performance. But it does not seem this performs very well. Update 2/14/25: This has kept growing on me. I keep reaching for it. Very pleasant. But it does NOT smell like Aventus, although there are a few DNA ties.

Starts with a fresh iris and neroli supported by citrus and a pineapple note (which is an unfortunate addition, imo). Then, the lavender (the main player imo) shows up on stage, backed by a strong tonka bean. That lavender/tonka combo shows a (remote) similarity with SL Fourreau Noir. Also present a noticeable supporting creamy vanillic sandalwood note, and some subtle musk in the base. A very nice pleasant and elegant fragrance, that could vaguely be described as a slightly more complex Dior Homme Eau, with a hint more complexity and fruityness. Nice (even if not groundbreaking), but its current low price tag may hardly justify the very low performance I experience on my skin. Dior Homme Eau, which has a very similar drydown, may be a wiser choice imo, despite its (slightly) higher price tag. Spring/Summer days, any age.

Supposedly discontinued and very hard to find scent that was made by the legendary Mr Pierre Blind bought it And when it arrived I knew it was successful purchase Although tame and airy in its nature but it was a treat to wear masculine woody I didn’t get any fruits from it Performance was ok but i could’ve done with more I swear I felt like I’ve smelled it before but couldn’t pinpoint it It’s a wonderful creation but do not pay top dollars to get it

Smooth bitter-oriental, I detected along development some black-tea & great flowery iris notes that join wonderfully a leathery/tobacco accord, masculine, elegant, shares at some stages few similarities to Bvlgari-Black and a little with Chanel Allure, but overall more spicy and smooth. My rank: 8/10. ☣☣☣

This is an intriguing perfume. It is well made. And you need to try it many times before you trully understand it. An evening perfume. Romantic wear. And you can smell iris and Lavender, orange, vetiver and some vanilla.

As @Brahmsfourth stated, its the dreamer honed to perfection. BUT unfortunately it lasts only for one hour max two then no trace of it at all even on clothes. My bottles batch is 01A12BD1

This is a classic men's fragrance! It's got that sophisticated woody vibe I love, with a touch of sweetness from the vanilla and tonka bean. It lasts all day too.

Smelled on a paper strip: Not bad! There's a smoky leather note in it I quite like. Very promising.

This scent is wonderful but the performance is poor with 2 hours longevity. A good office scent.

This had me all messed up. In the beginning, it almost seemed too sweet... so then for that reason, I tried convincing myself not to like it. In seconds, it started to change and by "change" I mean "uplift." Blooming flowers and fruit-saturated woods touched and toned by warm vanilla. During this transition I found myself looking for every reason to love it. This is not a summer scent, and its not a winter scent because romance isn't seasonal... although it lives at night. All of the notes here nicely weave into one another. Romance and affection, bottled up all elegant.

I believe the 7ml miniature splashes I bought off eBay have turned. Either that or the description sound nothing like I smell. What I have kind of reminds me of that small blotter paper perfume samples you find in magazines. You know how after opening them you smell something vaguely perfumey with the smell of the magazine’s ink mixed in? That’s what it reminds me of. It’s actually not bad but it just smells far from how it’s described by the reviewers. Smells like nothing in particular. Very transparent and abstract.

very woody and that's why I like it!it's better than GF ferre and someof other Ferre's perfumes I've smelt so far. vetiver is almost there even from the first second which makes it more suitable for mature men.smokey,woody,warm,mysterious with a hint of sweet notes that makes it even better.fortunately nothing spicy,rough,overwhelming exist here. the bad point about it,is that the sillage is poor and long lasting power is less than average.

One I had and gave away. Now I regret it. It has a prominent iris top note, but as one reviewer said, this morphs into citric notes. Must add, it is complex, it takes a lot of time to evolve. The only thing I don't like of it is its basenotes - a generic muskiness I cannot help associating with the smell of someone who could not get a bath at the end of the day. Aside from this, I would get another bottle.

Lipstick! It's all I get form this composition. It opens with a sweet fruity / floral accord that stays linear for quite a while then, suddendly, a waxy note come in turning this fragrance into "lipstick". Sweet and mossy drydown. A sweet and languid perfume. Not my type. Rating: 5/10

romantic, romantic and again romantic! Lovely and suitable for intimate moments with your alter ego! Love the opening of this this perfume, but it doesent last over 2,5 hours maximum... :-(

I did not like the frag at first. But using it several times I really love it. Its heart consists of the black iris and displays a warm character. It is suited for evening wear.

Dior Homme is powdery, and lipsticky which is to me is great. Ferre For Men is a little waxy and sweet, and I love this too!
