Bay Rum Cologne

I have tried three different bay rum fragrances. This was my first and still the best. The projection on this is fabulous. You know you’re wearing it but you are not suffocating those around you. The longevity is also great. I am on hour 10 with today’s wearing. There is no better bay rum for longevity, based on my own experience and the numerous reviews I have now read. The fragrance is that of a true bay rum with modern craftsmanship and quality. The clove is present in the opening but softens in the first 15 minutes. Next there is a mild woodsy note that is reminiscent of saw-dust [Which my I really love. As a guy it is a comforting scent. My guess it is the sandalwood interacting with the bay leaf (and possibly the ylang-ylang)]. The wood note complements and enhances the clove and bay leaf fabulously. If you like bay rum, then you must try this masterpiece. And if you don't like bay rum you should still try give GH a try. It will surprise you. NOTE: The fragrance settles. If you apply it without giving the bottle a little shake first, you with not get the fullness of the fragrance. It will still smell okay, but you will miss out on a really marvelous warm cologne, because a bunch of the notes will be sitting in the bottom of the bottle and not on your skin.

Had an opportunity to try Bay Rum, and it’s a fun scent. Very strong bay leaf in the opening with a spicy punch. Dry down was lovely, and yes I would love to smell this on a man. Great price of only $40 for 2oz on Luckyscent. Dare I say at this price, Bay Rum is blind buy worthy. There’s no reason why anyone can’t smell good.

I love bay rum, and hat attracted me to this fragrance was the sandalwood and ylang ylang combo, which is a really fun and friendly pairing of scents when done right, but that's not really present in this at all. The main scent notes are clove, with a touch of west indian bay laurel, and then there's a REALLY bizarre waxy/plastic lemon note in the background that just doesn't work at all for me, and should NOT be in a bay rum. I wouldn't recommend anyone blind-buy this, do what I did and order the sample pack of aftershaves and try it that way.

Aftershave review:I love bay rums. This is a very good one, better than most, but not as good as Barberry Coast. This isn't as clove heavy as most, being mostly bay leaves. If Barberry Coast were more geared towards the summer, this one would be geared more towards a mild summer day, or more appropriately, a fall day. The concentration on this one is the best of all the bay rums I've tried. My favorite of all the bay rums is Atomic Age Bay Rum by PAA. At 35 dollars Gilbert Henry was highway robbery, but at 22 dollars, it is appropriately priced, and really appreciate the high concentration of bay leaves on this one. Pick it up for 22.

I have quite a few Bay rum aftershaves and the balm from these guys is the best one in my opinion. The Bay Rums I've tried (mostly aftershaves) seem to vary a bit from the cloves to the rum. This one is probably one of the more rum centered one's with a little bit more of brightness from lime. The cologne being reviewed here smells of niche quality ingredients done as a bay rum. Bay Rum is the quintessential masculinity smell to my nose. Great stuff and lasts a long time. When I want to smell like a badass I go for leather fragrances, or this stuff.
