Acqua di Giò Profondo

Beautiful fragrance, really a treat for someone like me who grew up enjoying the original. I’ve always had a soft spot for fresh, aquatic scents, and the AdG EDT was my signature scent for many, many years in high school and beyond. I still have a bottle, but obviously I’ve grown and tastes change, and I tend to prefer scents with a bit more depth and density these days. I tried this and profumo the same day, one on each wrist. I love them both, but this one truly surprised me, especially because so many more people recommended Profumo. The opening is heavenly. If you like the original, trust me, you will LOVE this. It’s taken that sparkly, citrusy, aquatic airiness of the original and amped it up, slightly more of a marine vibe, and it is much more grown up. The marine notes, the citrusy florals, absolute freshness with a slight warmth to it... beautiful, truly a treat to behold. You can really tell the increased quality and are given a much richer, deeper, and denser fragrance. Surprisingly versatile too, I’m one of the few people who really enjoy wearing fresh fragrances all year round instead of wearing something sweeter and warmer in the winter. There are some that just wouldn’t hold up, but this one really does well in all weather and settings. It’s youthful and bright but also deep and sophisticated, a really nice balance in my opinion: it doesn’t smell like you’re some rich guy in a tuxedo who drives a rolls Royce, it smells more like someone who craves adventure, sensuality, and subtle luxury in equal measures. The opening is my favorite part of this fragrance, but I do greatly enjoy it through all stages. The drydown is where it differs most from Profumo, it’s more of a mineral/aquatic vibe throughout, not as warm. I’ve noticed some comparisons with polo blue and “blue” frags like BdC or sauvage, and I can see how this is a valid comparison, but I find it also does this fragrance a disservice. Yes it’s a more aquatic version of the original, but I feel it does not try to be a “blue” fragrance (like BdC, sauvage, Dylan blue, Luna Rossa carbon, etc). If you do not like fragrances like those, don’t write this one off, it’s not in the same ballpark! There is an entirely different structure to the fragrance and it blends every note together almost flawlessly: freshness, sweetness, florals, spice, it’s almost perfectly blended. Not flat and boring or overly synthetic and harsh. Much more lively, sparkling, and more tolerable in large doses than the “blue” frags. Longevity and projection are both fantastic. At least 8 hours on skin and multiple hours of solid projection depending on temperature. 9/10. I love it!

this is my 8th and probably final bottle in the collection, and i thought it would be nice to leave an honest review here. i own a 100ml bottle of a 2024 new release (the bluer bottle with a gradient) so i cant really give comparisons to the 2020 one. the best way to describe it is that it smells like a really buff masculine dude in the beach and hes like fresh out of the shower too. thats pretty much how it smells like. opening is a really good blast of citrus like oranges and then the “beach smell”. as it dries down you might start to notice that the citrus is now slowly getting overtaken by the aquatic smell. after a few hours is where you might notice that the smell has turned into a men’s shower product or deodorant type of masculine smell. as a young dude sometimes i honestly think that my clothes dont smell like me after a day cuz of the smell really smelling like a grown ass man, but its really great before it gets to that point. weirdly though, i think i had the most compliments from this one compared to the other fragrances i use. i now start to realize that maybe the reason a majority of women (in my country at least) prefer blue fragrances like this or shit like BDC and dylan blue and i think that its because of that “deodorant smell” that smells like a masculine dude. not my favorite scent in my collection but it definitely gets the job done, and is probably the best blue fragrance in my opinion (better than bdc, dylan blue, etc) is it worth the price? it’s alright, maybe a bit pricey. i got it for around ₱5900 which is around $105. i suggest you try to get discounted ones if you’re looking to buy it, and if you dont really give a shit about the brand, try azzaro chrome extreme. its like half the price and probably just as good in terms of quality. scent: 9/10 projection: 8/10 longevity: 8/10

I don't want to smell like anybody's boyfriend. But I'll make an exception with this one.. So much is being said about this and that, and the other; and the other. Yes, there's been multiple flankers to Acqua Di Gio, Profumo being my favorite one. And as much as I'm not fond of fresh aquatic fragrances, I have to accept that these "Dudes" please the masses. I'll be "That Guy" who wears an Oud fragrance during summer, but I guess, lately, I've been selling my soul to the devil of the versatile and all-girl-liking frags. Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Profondo (I'm out of breath just by pronouncing that name) will be the fragrance I'll be using next summer, for sure. January is almost over, but I'm sure that Beaver will not look at his shadow; at least in California. And before the smoke clears and I recover from this horrendous Flu, I'll give Profondo an early start. I've been test-driving such fragrance and there is something nostalgic about it. It takes me to the good-old 90's, over-spraying myself with Acqua di Gio or Chrome at the local Sephora, just before hitting The Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Memories... Memories... It is aquatic, fruity-sweet and a bit herbaceous. And it is on the dry-down where something additional special happens. The dry-down is as if it travels fast to the future and that 90's feel becomes very nowadays contemporary, modern and classy. Before it leaves my skin 6 to 8 hours after, with decent projection, it somewhat reminds me of a mixture between Millesime Imperial and Oud Minerale, without the oud. This is a special one. Do recommend.

This review is for Aqua di Gio Profondo EDP 2024. Fragrantica needs to make a page for the 2024 reform. Anyways, the new Profondo EDP is a fantastic blue fragrance but don't expect anything ground breaking. It's a typical mass appealing summer freshie done very well. Like all ADGs, it's very masculine which I love. No fruity, gourmand or bubble gum sweetness here. Slightly more professional and sophisticated than Dylan Blue. Kinda does it's own thing sitting between a Dylan Blue and Bleu de Chanel. Not as woody as the Chanel, not as aquatic sweet as Dylan Blue. It has a strong zesty citrus opening that was a bit off putting for me when I first smelled it, but it settles down quickly into an extremely smooth and refined sea sent. All the seaweed, fishy vibes of the OG Profondo have been removed and/or refined. The more I wear this stuff the more I like it. It just works in the summer. It's a bit generic but that's to be expected from an ADG. Performance is average for a freshie which I don't mind. I don't want beast mode performance in high heat. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and can't wait to use this a lot this summer. I give it a 9/10 rating. It's a super solid modern take on the ADG DNA.

Profondo 2020 original was one of my favorites of the line and I’ve been wearing it since launch. I unfortunately dropped and broke my bottle this morning, but I wasn't worried because I had what I thought was a 2020 backup in the closet. I specifically ordered it from a site that advertised the original 2020 bottle to avoid the redesign, but when I opened it up, it was the new 2024 Profondo EDP. They are not 95% the same. I’d put this at 70% at best. For context, I think ADG Parfum is 95% similar to Profumo, but this Profondo change is much more drastic. That deep, salty, mineral-heavy "dark ocean" vibe that made Profondo unique—is gone. Instead, they’ve dialed up the bright, safe citrus notes. It feels much closer to Profondo EDT in my opinion. It’s thinner, airier, and lacks that metallic backbone that gave the 2020 EDP its identity. It’s not a bad smell, in fact it smells pretty dam good, BUT it’s a massive step backward if you’re looking for the original’s DNA. Just wanted to do a little expectation management.

I own a bottle of the original Profondo. Based on the batch code, it was made in July 2023. I purchased it from FragranceNet around January 2024. I love the scent. When you take a whiff of it, it's like a combination of a fresh cool breeze, herbs, and citrus going up your nose. It's not overwhelming. It's a very pleasant and refreshing scent. This would definitely be my choice on a hot day. I'm a weirdo and started wearing it in January because I was excited to try a new cologne. But I digress. The performance of this cologne is decent. On my skin, it projects well for about 1-2 hours. Around 2-4 hours, I can still catch whiffs of it when I move around. After about 4-6 hours, it becomes a skin scent. This is an Eau De Parfum, and the performance is about right for that concentration. Conclusion: I like Profondo as a scent and will finish off the bottle. However, I'm not sure if I will buy another bottle because of the reformulations. I'll have to see what's available by the time my 200mL bottle runs dry.

Beautifully done fragrance imo. Multiple compliments the first night I wore this, so much so that a friend I danced with later went out and bought a bottle for her fiancé. Average fraghead will *NOT* perceive this—as one reviewer on here put it—“cheaply done.” I don’t. It lives up perfectly to being a more beachy version of ADG Parfum (black-clear bottle): Profondo has citrusy sea salt notes, giving it a slightly more gourmand quality yet remaining a blue freshy, making it more complex and fun than ADG Parfum. This one is a much better night-out frag than Parfum but l could also be as a louder, less business office fragrance than Parfum. A few weeks of maceration helped it bloom. Will update on performance after a few more wears.

This will sound strange to many but to my nose, this is what Bvlgari Aqva Marine used to smell like. I loved that perfume so much some 15-18 years ago and been looking for something that smelled closed to it ever since. I'm afraid even Bvlgari aqva marine itself don't smell like that any more but when I first got Profondo and sprayed it for the first time, it brought back memories. They're not EXACTLY the same smell but it's close...at least to my nose and on my skin. Fresh, airy, aquatic and just very enjoyable from opening to dry down. Sillage is great too andI get 6-8 hours for me, on skin and longer on clothes. One of my very favorites of all time

I bought this for my darling son in 2022 & no joke that formula is lit af. I recently sniffed the bottle & was immediately transported to heaven. He’s running low (thank god I bought the extra large bottle for him), so I went online to purchase a new bottle for his birthday... Sadly, I see the version I purchased in 2022 is no longer available. It appears this wonderful masculine scent has been “reformulated” since then & we all know what that means - They murdered my baby’s fav male frangrance. YOU BASTARDS Who did this? Is it L’Oréal? Estée Lauder?? Who!?! I hate you & everything you’ve done to destroy fragrances since 2017. HOW DARE YOU 🤬

This is a fragrance all man should have in their wardrobe. Anytime i'm not so sure which fragrance should i wear, i go for AdG Profondo. The perfect joker. Undoubtedly a marine scent, but the mineral notes along side the aromatic notes deliver a very much noticeable incense vibe to it. This "incense" part of Profondo brings depth to the fragrance, honoring the literal name "profound". Amazing longevity on my skin, also a great sillage. I can say this is my most compliment fragrance of all. In the other hand, exclusivity is the main counter here, once many guys are also wearing this fragrance this days. Still a 10/10 for me, no question.

You are an attractive man, about 35, who lives somewhere in the Mediterranean. You eat well, you’re healthy, fit and you’ve just had a long swim in waters under the sun - something you do often. You leave the sea, salt still baked into your skin, and shower with whatever citrusy shower gel at home. After washing it all off, this is what you smell like. Nonsense aside, this is probably my favourite out of the ADG line. I find the performance good on my skin, about 6.5+ hours but that’s okay bc this is clearly a summer/spring scent. So bright, so CLEAN, so “sea”y but in a good, fresh, invigorating way. 9/10.

Profondo is a cultured, flawless and impeccable fragrance—a tempestuous, moody, and dark ocean. It opens with ultra-sophisticated citrus notes, giving way to a metallic heart reminiscent of a ship’s hull, then it dries down into an elegant patchouli scent. Superior to Profumo and the Parfum edition since it revitalizes the original DNA while captivating women effortlessly. With Profondo, you wear a suit in liquid form—day or night, office or date, or simply drinking your espresso at the café by the morning looking at the fountains. It never feels out of place. You’ll command attention.

This screams like the EDT does out of the gate, but lasts much longer. I was hesitant to try it because all of the negative reviews. I received a 10ml for free and will probably grab a bottle. I get a good 6 hours performance from it. AAM Aqua Oud and Arabian Oud Centro perform twice as long, but this smells more elegant and projects more. Its my favorite in the AdG line and I have tried them all recently. The Essenza and Profumo are old though, and with a fragrance like this, you lose the top notes. A fresh bottle of this will serve you well for 4 years. 8.75/10

Man, where do I even start? It's one of the most versatile fragrances I've come across. This will pull it off in every season/special occasion but during the daytime only.You can wear it in the office or college and also in the gym. It's a super fresh fragrance, not too fruity or sweet; that's why I fw it heavily. It starts off with citrusy and slightly mineralic notes for the first 20-30 mins, then it smooths down and the sharp mintiness and florals kick in, and everything is rounded off by a smoky feel, a very elegant and professional kind of smell.

I’ve seen a lot of fragrance influencers hype this up and I have to say it’s definitely one of my favorites after getting a hold of a couple 2020 bottles. Easy to wear, does really well in the high heat (just tone down the sprays because it can become overwhelming). The bright citrus opening mellows out into a salty green masterpiece. I’d choose the 2020 bottle over the newer ones simply because the reformulation smells common amongst other salty aquatic fragrances today. Nothing like the original, it’s truly unique.

A special sea water fragrance. Sophisticated and natural scent with mineral properties. Masculine edge with some spiciness and pepper. True to the original Acqua di Gio, but more focused, more refined. Linear development -- it's a fresh sea water scent and doesn't try to become something else. Not for everyone, but a personal favorite. Ultimately, a timeless masculine sea water fragrance. Suitable for wear in essentially any occasion, and especially good for gym wear, and sunny spring or summer days.

MF'ng banger! Get it. I'm testing it in the winter and it's solid with only two sprays. OMG so good. A bit less with the aqua notes. Kind of sweet - fruity sweet orange. Some florals - lavender. A bit green. I got big 200ml bottle and will probably be picking one up another one when I start wearing it. This one is worthy of a back up bottle. It is way better than the new Profondo Parfum. I don't like that one for the first hour. Has some weird smell to it. Get this one - the Profondo EDP.

I have owned this fragrance for a couple years and It is always a solid pick for any warm summer day. I go anosmic to it quickly but I know it is still performing because I can smell it on my clothes the next day. It doesn’t have the floral components of the original, and that is a welcome variation for me. I don’t always love rosemary in frags but this has it reigned in as compared to the Parfume version. 6-10 sprays does the job with some sprays on my clothes to boost longevity. 9/10

I love this scent - my "almost" daily fragrance in the summer. I'm not a big fan of the original ADG, but this flanker (with the original DNA in the background) has a woody note that makes it wearable. It lasts around three to four hours, but I don't mind. If I need to reapply, I do so since it's a generally affordable fragrance. The scent is straightforward and linear: fresh, oceanic, woody, and citrusy. Because of the marine notes, it's strictly a summer scent for me.

This is the first full bottle fragrance that I've had. I entered the fragrance that my friend likes into ChatGPT to get suggestion on birthday gift and its name bumped up. And that's why I bought myself a sample of 15ml. The longevity is half day long (in autumn time and I spray it on my clothes). It starts with a marine smell with citrus. The sillage is a little strong, and I suggest that not spray it in the office. The end of it is a little bit of musk.
