Acqua Di Gioia Eau Fraiche

After reading about this, I bought a bottle off eBay for a good price, and I'm glad I did. The first spray brought a creamy, clean, lightly citrus rush. Floral, green hints and an uplifting sweetness. For me, the intricate, heady rush of the first few sprays dies down within minutes, leaving a creamy, crisp musk. There is a slight citrus, lightly white floral, mostly aquatic smell, which is balanced by the brown sugar note. The brown sugar note is really important, to me, because it adds a sharp, warm note. The thickness of a molasses-esque tone in the background subtly lends a serious side to an otherwise entirely bright and sparkly fragrance. It gives it a hint of darkness, which allows me to take it seriously. This is such a beautiful perfume, to me. I am in love. If there is one criticism, it is that the concentration is lacking. Longevity needs to be amped up double or more on this. After 3-4 sprays, I can hardly smell it an hour later :( That is a big disappointment, for me, in an otherwise impeccable perfume. But! The smell is so so so good, I am willing to apply, apply, apply, all day long! I highly recommend this as a unique, intricate, and thoroughly refreshing summer fragrance!

It kind of smells like the forest after rain to me. I wish they made this exact composition in Eau de Parfum version, because the concentration is the biggest downside of this perfume. The strong grapefruit in the opening vanishes as fast as it came in the first place. So no worries, if you don't like that bitter citrus smell. To describe this scent in more detail, I would have to say that it's a little like a fresh herbal lemony tea with tropical palm tree leaves. Bizarre, how one can like the smell of tea, but the it is so nicely diluted - really watery and tight, but noticeable. When it dries down, the freshness kind of goes to the background and the sweet woodsy notes arise. The way brown sugar ties those fresh smells together in this perfume is absolutely beautiful. A very subtle sweetness with a teeny-tiny hint of caramel. The smell of cedar also suits amazingly well with this scent profile. To me this scent is exactly what cleanness should smell like.

Perfect summer scent, it's citrusy but not sharp or colonge-like. The sugar in it makes it slightly sweet, like a good refreshing lemonade, but it's not simple at all. It's a fresh and feminine composition. Makes you feel clean and sexy. I'm all into citrus, water and fresh flowers in generel, I really prefer these in a perfume. This scent is a bit stronger than I usually used to, but this just means that I can use the half of the amount. It's a lovely summer evening perfume, it's fresh, but not superficial. Definitely recommend this, if you (like I was) are searching for a cool scent for the long summer nights

This is an amazing scent. I couldn't leave the store without it. The grapefruit and lemon are strong at the beginning but you have the brown sugar in the back smoothing it out a bit. It is even better on the dry down. This is what I thought the other version would smell like when I read that it was a "fresh" scent. I think the two would be great layered together. Might be in the collection forever as a great go to fresh scent for those hot new york city summer nights.

Warm, citrus, aquatic, sherbety perhaps, lemon but not tart, will edit later. Good for now on the skin. Seems more alive than Essenza which I have on the other wrist. Essenza seems flat and cool aromatic, wood something. Eau Fraiche isn't manly or deodorant like which I am very pleased. It's like a fresh warm gentle sherbet breeze

To me the scent is much more similiar to de EDT that to the EDP, is the fresher and crispier smell of the range. A bit similar do the discontinued Eau d'Eden bt Cacharel but the EDT is even closer in scent. Great for summer, but on my skin even on winter this scent can be felt with reasonable longevity and sillage.

Fresh, light, clean jasmine and green tea scent. The sillage quite surprised me - it can be very strong, especially in hot weather. It's a pity that I mostly enjoy the flankers that get discontinued, than the pillar fragrances themselves tho.

This perfume is my favorite that I own. The scent is very strong and long lasting! The notes are great together and would recommend it to any one who wants to smell great all day!

Ultimate tropical aquatic scent. Fabulous in a hot and humid climate. I wish I had bought a full bottle. It was *that* good.

I really like the soft notes, it's a great for everyday wear. It opens up with the lovely citrus notes. However it has a sort of "soapy" quality after a few hours, which isn't really interesting at all to be honest.. smells like a nice bath, really. In that sense it reminds me of the Clean scents, however these aren't as fresh and citrus-y as this one. (I actually detest all the Clean scents) In this one the jasmine, ylang-ylang and tea balances the aquatic qualities. My boyfriend agreed that it was nice, but nothing phenomenal! After six hours this was completely gone on me, so it's probably one that you'd need to bring with you on a long day out :) If you, like me, are looking for a non-offensive office scent that doesn't smell like baby-like laundry detergent or too much musk (like the Clean scents), you might want to give this one a try.

I owned this as a teenager/maybe early 20s, but would still wear this now as a 30yr old (if I wasn't so strongly attached to fragrances representing a specific time period and never going back - which is a shame in regards to this one). Really fresh and clean smelling, very inoffensive, I can't really imagine someone not liking this to be honest. Great choice for an easy spring/summer scent, not at all groundbreaking, just simple and nice.

Very fresh summery "right out the shower" scent. Smells great and dries down okay. But it's a very linear scent and to me it became tiresome or 'boring' to wear. Don't spray too much, it can induce headaches. I could never empty a full bottle of this, the 25 ish ml I had was a good amount.

Heavy on the citrus, and over time can become a bit tedious. My husband came into the room after I had just sprayed it and asked what that sherbet smell was. I think if you like D&G "light blue" you will probably like this s well.

My first perfume, I bought it at an airport. Love at first sniff. I still really like it but there's an sub-scent (pardon my lack of knowledge in fragrance jargon) of gasoline once on my skin. It makes me nauseous. Too bad!

I agree with "prettyswag". However, despite this fragrance be a bit lighter than the original I think this is more bitter... more astringent. I think I prefer the original, but both are great.

One of my favourite summer scents. Very fresh, clean and uplifting. It’s not super unique but it’s a summer fragrance done right in my opinion. Will always be in my collection.

Truly is a watered down, sweeter, and short(er) lasting version of the original. Might as well get Aqua Bella from La Rive.

I bought it because I thought I liked it. guess I was just confused by all of the smells at the tax-free shop. It's bearable enough for me to wear it, but it's not a favourite because of 2 main things 1) it's aquatic, which I'm not a fan of - I have always thought aquatic perfumes smelt a little nasty on me 2) it's soapy. At the same time, it becomes sweet after a little while, and sugar isn't exactly an interesting way to sweeten things up. I do not dislike this, but I wish I hadn't bought it - to me the soapy-aquatic-sugar blend seems a bit strange :/ The original Acqua Di Gioia is more balanced. Definitely a summer smell - when it gets colder it begins to smell very soapy - like old school bubble bath soap. When it's hot it's more aquatic, but not bad aquatic, actually. Not my cup of tea anyway...

The first initial spray was a slap in the face of cheap cleaning product, or more accurately... hair spray. Straight up alcohol and chemicals with some sugar thrown in. As it develops, it does become more bearable. It dries down to a fresh laundry detergent smell, something that would be labeled "New lemon jasmine scent!" on the front of the cardboard box it was in. Thankfully I just ordered a sample of this perfume, because I would never buy a full bottle.

Watery and very light, so suitable for hot summer. Surely office safe, on my skin it is very delicate, more like deodorant than eau de toilette. Can't smell any sugar note. Update: I've tested it again in mid summer and unfortunately, it smells strange on my skin. I expected it would smell better, but I've gotten the opposite result.

this has terrible smell and Armani's worst fragrance. i smell only acquatic and citrus notes. it's only acquatic. it has no sweet or floral scent. i will never buy it again. i can be used this for shower screen frangrance but its very expensive for this.

This is quite sugary lemon water smell. It's similar to the Gucci flora eau fraiche. Only, not that bad, I guess. Still, I don't like this composition. Lemon, aquatic notes and sugar are not good together.

Too sweet for me, reminds me of Bath & Body Works or Victoria's Secret fragrances. I thought for sure I'd love this one.

I just smell cucumbers for all of 30 minutes and then nothing. Have a big bottle up for trade!

I just smell lemon and tea. It is fresh but not for everyone, especially for floral lovers

A cold, refreshing, minty and sweet (but not sickly sweet) drink for a hot, sunny day near the sea. Especially I love the grapefruit which adds some light bitterness to this sweet juice. The jasmine in this composition is very interesting, a bit wild and naturally beautiful. Just a little touch of green tea and some sea salt sensation brought by the breeze. The ylang-ylang turns the drydown into a sensual temptation (like the smell of a clean skin after making love near the sea), reinforced by the cedar and a light, transparent musk. Will be a nice summer scent.

For the first time ever a free sample led me to purchase a perfume. Well done Sephora. I'm all into citrus, water and fresh flowers in generel. Chanel's Chance Eau Tendre has been my favourite for years, but now I felt like trying something different. This scent is a bit stronger than I usually wear, but this just means that I can get away with just using the half of the amount. This is my favorite of the Acqua Di Gioia flankers..first it has some punch. when you first spray it, it shows character , it smells pretty, it is floral but not sharp, it has nice projection and longevity...it has a nice mix of floral and musk, on a bed of warm wood...just lovely!!! The Di Gioia Jasmine pales in comparison, as it is rather linear. And light.. It is close to the original, just maybe a bit more uplifting..

It doesn't really differe from the original Acqua di Gioia, but there is a difference. I have the feeling that the Eau fraîche is more white floral and a bit less aquatic. For some reason, I tend to find the original Acqua di Gioia fresher than the actual Eau fraîche. It is a nice scent though, it can be worn everywhere, from office to a party to a cocktail by the pool. I love this line.

Oh my god it's not soapy at all on me. More like a lemon flavoured candy, really sweet, but clean at the same time. I agree this scent is not phenomenal, but still, I like it. I can definiately smell the sugar note, and I love it. Longetivity is not the best, 4 hours on me, and sillage is moderate (but I use only 2 sprays).

Tried it. This is still sugary and sweet, even if it says that it's a "fresher and lighter version". Same sugar base as in the original and subsequent flankers, but laced with a more aquatic tone. Still way too sweet with the white sugar in the drydown. If anything, I actually like this version the least.

It is quite different from the original one, but the Acqua di gioia vibe is still there. It is pretty strong, sweet and fresh at the same time and not as classy as the first one. Unfortunately, this one doesn't last that long. I recommend it for spring/summer but not as a blind buy as it is quite unique.

My favorite perfume is D&G Light Blue and they seemed to have the same notes but this one is stronger and would be better worn on colder nights. I liked wearing this on date nights as well... though it will not be a signature scent for me unlike my D&G Light Blue.

Lovely, fresh, sugary clean smelling. Just nice, nothing wow. Great if you want to smell like you just had a refreshing shower and washed your hair with sweet, juicy shampoo. Not a "vixen on the prowl" scent, more just a "leaves a trail of sunshine gal" scent.

I wear it many times but to clarify, this perfume is not my favorite one. However, I still wear it recently because firstly it suits with the weather in my country. Secondly, I never get complained like other perfumes. So recommended for the summer.

I bought it because of the aqua smell. I did like this perfume first few days I bought it. But when i wore for long time, it does not smell aqua but kinda sweet.Not the smell like flowery sweet but weird sweet. I gave it to one of my friends.

Definitely not fresh on my skin. Opens nicely as a citric sugary aquatic, goes to dirty musky indolic jasmine center, then becomes waxy and hideous sweetly rotten fruit with moldy-stale ylang-ylang in full drydown.

Messy, pooey and crowded commute the same of the regular one but with more sweetness and a badly made watery intention. Not really fresh. Buy a Light Blue if you need this or Ralph from Ralph Lauren.

"Aquatic notes are more pronounced, while the floral are softened" I thought the original needed to be like this for me to like it better. I can't wait to try it!

Received many compliments on this fragrance but unfortunately not something I'd try again. I have moved on to 'Because it's you' Armani and truly love it.

How do they keep perfecting this? I don't know how but Acqua di Gioia, to me, is absolutely ethereal in its beauty.

opens with a bit more freshness, but settles to a cotton-candy sweet scent. it's a bit too much for me.
