Acqua di Gioia Intense

Being a lover of Acqua di Gioia, I was so excited for a version that really lasted. If that sounds like you, let me prime you for disappointment: this doesn't smell much like the original. On first spray, there is a brief similarity, but they get quite dissimilar quite rapidly. What it is, mostly, is a fruity rose with some woody, staticky laundry musk. The day after I got it, I wore it all day on its own. I was still nursing the disappointment of not having a strong AdG, so I was happy I bought a travel size instead of a larger bottle. It was pleasant enough, which is sort of damnation by faint praise. I get similarities to Very Good Girl (but fresher, without vanilla) and a hint of Si Passione with the same sort of musk found in the Born in Roma line. Then something strange happened. I wanted to wear it more. That evening, I got home and sprayed it again. My husband said I smelled really good, and he also loves the original, so maybe there's more similarity than I thought. The next day, I wanted to wear it yet again. I haven't yet decided if I'll want a full bottle, but if this continues, I may need one.

I didn't have any of the Gioias so, being my first I don't have much to compare with. I did smell the og and liked the mint but found it overall quite weak. I wish this one had the mint too but I enjoy it a lot regardless. It is what's supposed to be I guess, a super fresh summery fragrance. It smells citrusy, clean, a bit floral, with the tiniest sweetness. Like fresh out of the shower smell. I do smell the rose but it is not overpowering in my opinion. Definitely mass appealing, nothing groundbreaking but also I would never expect to be surprised by one of these super popular designer fragrances. It does last a lot for a fresh citrusy fragrance and I love that so much. I keep getting whiffs of it. I wish bvlgari would release an intense omnia coral, that would be amazing. EDIT: I sprayed on yesterday before two work events I had in the late afternoon and night and it's 08h30 in the morning and it's still going strong specially on my hair.

An aquatic, cool, fresh summery floral. I’m a lover of niche fragrances and tend to steer away from the designer houses, but I’m so glad I tried this as it’s becoming my go to on a hot summer’s day - the epitome of ‘summer in a bottle’ for me. I can imagine myself sitting under a lemon tree on the Amalfi Coast in a white linen shirt with bare legs, sipping a limoncello spritz and reading The Enchanted April. The opening is sweet, fresh, fruity and citrusy but the dry down is where the magic happens for me. Sweet, woody and musky like sun warmed skin but still with that hint of aquatic, lemony freshness. Longevity is good - about 6 hours on me. I love it! Edit: As I wear it more I sometimes find it a little too sweet and fruity so I layer it with Phlur’s Lost Cause or Byredo’s Bal d’Afrique which are less sweet and more citrus forward - and I love the result.

I am always pleasantly surprised when an aquatic or fruity floral has real longevity. It is a fairly linear fragrance on my skin, which I appreciate because I love the scent. It is slightly reminiscent of Very Good Girl, which I love, but more aquatic. The packaging is what drew me to this fragrance, I was not familiar with this line, although I’d seen it around. I think I may have squirted some of the original on years ago, but it evaporated so quickly. I think I need to wait for the “intense” or “elixir” versions of perfumes to come out, the regular scents never last on me. I am impressed by this fragrance and will be exploring more of the line. Any suggestions?

I love this one. She’s definitely different from the OG, so if you’re worried about that don’t be. I have a bottle of Acqua Di Gioia, a bottle of Ocean Di Gioia, a travel of Sun Di Gioia and a bottle of this one, and this is probably my favorite of the whole line. Sweeter than the original, still a freshie but very floral forward. The opening is sweet citrus and it dries down to rose and jasmine just beautifully. Definitely packs more punch than the original. I didn’t know if I would pick up on the rose but I do. If you’re on the fence about this one give her a try. Instantly became one of my favorites.

Update: I had to return. Gave me a really bad headache. :( Bury me in this, please. It’s so good. I love Juniper Breeze by BBW, and I loved this. Some similar notes, so it makes sense. I feel so clean and fresh in this. I tried it at Ulta, and about had a meltdown. The original Aqua Di Gioia is good. You can’t go wrong there, but this has an added depth that makes it irresistible. To me it’s aquatic, I don’t know why, but it is. I feel I’m teleported to the Italian seaside, soaking in the Sun while sipping on ice cold water with lemon. Ultimate clean girl. The ray of sunshine ☀️

Acqua di Gioia Intense is a vibrant citrus dance with juicy red fruits and a breeze full of promise. Some people have broken noses down below ( of course I'm jk, everyone has different opinions band that's fine). So I'll say after this is sprayed and settled for about 20 mins, it smells like beautiful women, beautiful bishh lol. She smells spring and summertime fine. Fresh, clean, not like minty mojito, not like flower land. The notes marry well so I can't pick out one singular note. It's not super aquatic where u think u might smell salt or water notes even thought they're not there.

I personally love this, it's a very fresh and aquatic scent. It's inoffensive and makes a great office scent. Been getting the occasional compliment for this perfume, which is nice. Recently i found myself to love woody scents and once this perfume settles the woods come through and it's nearly a little warm. Just feels like a summer day on the Mediterranean Sea.

This is such a fresh and sweet scent. Smells EXACTLY like grapefruit (minus the bitterness) to me, with soft florals in the background. I feel like I'm in Rio de Janeiro on the sandy white beach drinking a caipirinha. One of my Brazilian mom's chic friends might've worn something like this in the 90's. It's youthful without being juvenile.

This is so clean and so CRISP! Starts out with a bit of juice. The berries are a beautiful complement to the citrus, but lemony freshness is the star of show. Dries down to an aquatic tartness with the slightest bit of musk. Could definitely be layered with the D&G Light Blue. Nice little scent bubble and lasted 6+ hours on skin.

This is a super fresh, aquatic, clean scent but still has some citrus. Smells almost minty to me after some time, and maybe some of the cedar comes through as well. I think it's a pretty neutral scent that most people would like. I love it and I can't stop wanting to smell it.

This has become my signature scent. It is fresh, clean, powdery, citrus. So much better than the OG Acqua Di Gioia. It is the epitome of clean girl fragrance. I will love this scent until the day I die. Really good for layering as well. The perfect fresh every day perfume.

I LOVE it! Smelled it for the first time today. So fresh, so spritzy, so refreshing. Great perfume. Surprisingly good lasting power for a freshie, too. What's not to like? Lovely scent!

So excited to grab this today! It does not resemble the original to me but an easy going spring and summer scent all the same.

I love Acqua di Gioia, just happened to come across this Intense flanker. I am very excited to try it!

A very fresh clean scent. More of a schampoo clean than a soap clean.

intense fragrance, very beloved!

The scent of marine resort. Aquatic and abstractly floral musk that screams holiday. It has limited presence on me in heat, I only feel it from time to time. Surely wont offend even in 32°C. Acqua di Gio femme is better and prettier but this is also beautiful and even more perfect for holiday. It reminds me of the scent of swimming pool and the sea mixing in hot air. I prefer it to the Acqua di Gioia that was always lacking wow factor in my personal opinion. It lasts around 4 hours with decent projection during a day then becomes a skin scent so I reapplied for the evening and wow, the scent has changed! Perfect for a resort evening, it is now richer. Now I feel the red fruits sweetening the citruses, and clean jasmine dominating a fresh rose. Just beautiful, like my first test in perfumery that sold this scent to me. It stays on the fresh side but now it is closer to blooming bushes on a warm evening by the sea. It is still 31° and it is even a bit heady but lovely and feminine. It lasts 12hours plus!

Aqua di Gioa and the masculine version Aqua di Gio are so nostalgic for me, as my mom and dad used to wear these in the late 2000s and 2010s when I was a little kid. I must say the modern intense version of Aqua di Gioa is more likeable and pleasant for me. I am not a big fan of super fresh and too soft fragrances. This one is more brown sugary on me, and I imagine myself by the ocean in a flowy gown and sun shining on my face. Livin' la vida loca, as it also gives me the vibes of partying in the summer somewhere in Miami. Carefree and a sexy Y2K diva dancing with a drink in her hand (probably sex on the beach). The DJ can take me home with this one. I think it's a safe blind buy, as it's not heavy at all and really fresh, but also sweet and distinct enough. The preformance is also solid, I wear this one in the summer and it lasts about 6 hours.

I actually like the regular Acqua di Gioia better because this one doesn't have the mint I was looking for but when I sampled this at the store I thought it smelled nice too so I bought it to try it out at work. It has a fresh and clean rose floral bar soap smell that doesn't smell outdated and powdery even though powder is listed as an accord. I guess to me it is closest smelling to Dylan Blue pour Femme because they both have a dewey smelling rose scent. Sillage is good and it doesn't feel like it's overpowering, just smells like I am wearing a high-end rose deodorant. I wore it to work where I am outside in the sun all day and the scent almost lasted the whole shift when I sprayed it on my clothes. This is just a very safe to wear and inoffensive feminine perfume that anyone can wear if they like rose scents.

I'm not familiar with the original, so I can't comment on whether this one smells different. My most used fragrances are in the gourmand-category, or atleast with some sweetness added to it. Heavy on the vanilla, amber, chypre or coconut. Freshies was never my thing, but with the summers getting hotter I needed something else. I wanted something that was clean, but not soapy. Something fresh, but not too fresh. This one ticked all the boxes. It's a very inoffensive and light fragrance, but it has a soft sweetness to it in the drydown. It's not groundbreaking, not complex, nothing truly exciting. Just a nice, basic and cleansmelling fragrance that I think would suit most noses.

I just tested this at the Sephora yesterday, it smells fresh and fruity. It's clean and great for Summer, but smells too much like Ocean di Gioia to be necessary. It smells like they combined Ocean and Acqua together, but more similar to Ocean than Aqua. I could see this sticking around if they discontinue Ocean, but as of right now this flanker doesn't make much sense to me.

Fresh, floral, aquatic, and sweet on the dry down. Smells more fresh and light instead of clean and soapy. Something you'd wear on a day when its hot and you want to smell fresh. I love it. It projects quite a lot initially, but not so much after the first hour or so. It does last a while, but just enough projection that you can smell it.

Excited about a longer lasting version. And while it’s nice and I enjoy getting sweet reminders of it throughout the day, it’s just an overall sweet scent. There’s no particular note that stands out and I think it would do better with a more prominent fruity note. Otherwise I just get comments that it smells like ‘mennen baby powder’..

this smells so similar to the original just without the mint and i dont smell the berries? which isnt a bad thing i absolutely love this scent... but i dont think it was necessary to make a flanker if theres not much of a difference. im happy with my purchase either way since i ran out of my og bottle

Actually this smells like the original despite the absence of the mint note. This version is stronger than the original. The dry down in this is odd though. It smells like the original but less fresh. I prefer the original.

Sweeter and less "zingy" as the original. It doesn't project as much as the original and doesn't last as long. Still it's fresh, clean, and a great choice for humid summer days!

At first this smelled really fun and fruity and i could deffinetly smell the acqua di gioia dna. I personally have worn acqua di gioia og now for 4 years and i always loved it because it never felt too much. Now my bottle is running out and before purchasing a new one i decided to try out the new intense version to see if maybe it beats my fave perfume ever the og acqua di gioia but no. As i said at first this was really fruity and a lot sweeter than the og but i didnt mind it at all my mom also liked it and sprayed it on her hands. As we were shopping around i smelled the test strip again and it was gone SUPER quick and what was left was an awful sweet scent that was almost as if fruit had gone bad that was covering up the beautiful og acqua di gioia dna. Also the same results on my moms hand it smelled very sickly sweet lacking the effortless freshness of the og. So im going to go and repurchase my tried and true the og acqua di gioia.

UGHHH i wanted to love this. literally thought it was going to give eating fruit speckled with a little ocean water while sitting by the shore, but after spraying it, it literally just smelled... boring. no fruitiness/citrus, maybe a hint of aquatic if i gaslight myself, and literally ALL floral. like another commenter said, it smelled extremely generic, which is so disappointing! this is for sure wearable, don't get me wrong, but it's just not want i want in a summer scent. if you're into "clean girl" scents, i personally think this is what its giving, which is great, but just not for this gourmand girlie!

I never liked the classic Gioia because it was really faint. However, the intense is much more stronger! I almost want to call it a beast but I won’t because I don’t own it to make such claims. Lol I won’t get it because I’m too obsessed with Ocean and this Gioia Intense scent can be easily achieved if you mix Musk Mood with a fruity perfume on top. Update: Wait!!!! Not only did I wash my hands, but I took a shower and this perfume lingered on the upper portion of the hand! This is perfect for days at the pool or beach! This will be in my collection soon! ~ I have not been able to stop thinking about this!

Dry down is very pleasant and pretty and lasts long time. However the red fruity opening is too sweet for me and lasts too long. If that’s your thing, then this seems like a great buy! When I picked this up to test, I thought it was the original so I sprayed twice. I ended up washing it off, or rather trying to, as I still carried the scent all day. I only liked how it smelled a few hrs post spray so it’s not for me.

I was so excited to get this on the Sephora sale for half the price of normal. Blind bought it due to continue classic good reviews. Was unfortunately not for me. I was hoping for more of a fresh green scent and this just reminds me of my grandmas perfume from the 80s. Really strong, musky, and a weird church basement type of scent. I’m 40 and this was just way too mature for me.

Got a sample size sent to me from Sephora. Unfortunately on my skin it smells like an air freshener. Smells good, but not the kind of smell I want to smell like. Both citrusy and sweet at the same time but every time I smell it I think more febreeze than perfume.

This leans a little too into the hairspray territory for me. It's clean and crisp, but something about it reminds me of Rave hairspray or a heavily scented shampoo. I don't pick up any red berries or jasmine at all, but mostly soapy rose and slight citrus.

Actually, I just don't understand this fragrance, a more intense version of series in which the very volatility is a key concept of the perfume undercuts exactly that. Besides, I especially miss the fragrance component that so characterises Acqua de Giogia (EDP), at least to my nose, the mint combined with jasmine. In this intense version, a floral scent (an old variety of a rose of peony?) dominates for me at the opening and first two hours, clashing with sensual freshness of Acqua di Gioia that is clearly present in the background. It seems as if there are two separate scent trails going on at the same time. After one is faded out a slightly sweet sensual freshness lingers and it is surely enjoyable. Would I buy this version? No. Would I wear it if it was given? Well actually, not neither. Did I have fun trying out the fragrance? Yes indeed! But if I'm going for something intense, I'd prefer something sultry. Intense and the ‘elusive’ of Acqua de Gioia... I think better not. - Note to Reader Smell and scent experience is different for everyone; the above is my personal experience.

Being that acqua di giaio is my top five favorite fragrances of all time you can imagine my excitement when I find out the intense version is released. I went to Sephora to try it out and tbh I was spraying so much stuff I couldn’t get a good nose on what it really smelled like until I used it at home. I really thought the intense version was going to have the same dna as the original and to me it really doesn’t. Maybe it needs to grow on me but it’s really not my cup of tea especially me being a musk lover. I was disappointed to say the least I like the original way more I think these are two totally different scents. It does have longevity that the original didn’t so that’s a plus but I can’t see myself repurchasing sadly.

i was contemplating the possibility of reselling this perfume, it is just very plain and cold and odd, it smells almost like a medicine or an all-natural bathroom cleaner. it accrued to me that maybe if i can layer it with something citric i'll bring it to life, and it really does smell better layered with a vibrant citrusy cologne that my brother has. they give a good touch to each other combined. so maybe i'll keep it, maybe not. still, i don't appreciate paying so much for a mediocre perfume.

Tried a sample of this today. Surprisingly, on my skin this smells nothing like all the reviews below... I expected a clean freshie, but I can only feel sweet red fruits drenched in sugar with just a little bit of rose and it's honestly nauseating. Sickly sweet, I can't stand it. Also smells like any other generic perfume. Hard pass for me. Definitely needs testing before buying 😅

Lowkey migrane inducing. I love the idea of the scent, but in reality the fresh/aquatic notes in this fragrance are just too much. Even when the fragrance dries down and sits for a bit it is still way too strong and beachy. Secondly the "red fruit" in conjunction with the musk/woody notes throw the overall scent off as well.

It is more rounded and less sharp than the original, but I am not a fan of either of the two. This one is too rosy and soapy and too mature for my liking. Not as fresh as I hoped for. Suited for spring and summer. Sillage is ok. Rating: 3/10

It’s loud for something that’s supposed to be aquatic😭 Instead of smooth balance it can feel like it’s trying so hard to be both fresh and intense but doesn’t quite nail either.

This is beautiful for summer. I had a travel spray of the original fragrance years ago, but returned it after the scent disappeared almost immediately like a body mist. This is that same beautiful fresh DNA, but it’s more grown up. If you like Versace fragrances but you’re like me and think they’re too screechy and soapy, you’ll love this flanker. The opening is very tart and fruity, but it quickly fades into that fresh dewy rose & jasmine. I’m glad the perfumers added more florals, this doesn’t smell like Windex like I was afraid it would. As for the intensity, it’s not bad at all for a freshie. I overspray and then wait a few minutes for the top notes to settle down before I leave the house and I get 4-5 hours of wear out of it, which is totally fine for this type of watery fresh DNA. Honestly, when it comes to designer scents nowadays, I almost always gravitate towards the intense flankers due to the fact that inflation has caused designer houses to water down their scents, which obviously leads to a high price tag and terrible performance (I’m looking at you, Mugler 🙄.) That being said, if you’re interested in the Aqua lineup, I would pick this one up instead of the original to get more bang for your buck.

Im not sitting in my car I'm frolicking around a Mediterranean coast line right now. Update. I really wish that the opening stayed longer. It quickly dries down to an intense version of every generic citrus woody fragrance on my skin. In fact it reminds me of someone using an orange bathroom cleaner over a lemon bathroom cleaner and then they mopped over it with pine sol original and quickly sprayed a $2 bathroom good value berry scent on top.. in the best way possible. Im back and forth with it but my gosh it's very redundant. I washed my arms down but its still very screechy. Good for someone who loves this 💚 Its not bad at all but it's just not the type of scent I'm trying to smell like. Its very long lasting there's something about Armani formulas that don't sit right to my nose- everything is so shrill and screaming in my face. Its not singing to me, it's yelling at me.. not to mention it's wearing me out. In theory, opening good Mid /dry down generic

I received a sample of this from Armani because I love the Di Gioia range and picked up a bottle of Ocean from their website for a steal. Anyway, I went trigger happy with it around my neck expecting the usual watery scent and stopped in my tracks - it’s much stronger, and I like it. A lot. It definitely wasn’t what I was expecting to smell - no mint? Sooo much fruit. I thought I had the wrong sample. I feel like I’m in Givenchy Irresistible territory and not Armani Di Gioia, but I so far so good. I’ll update later regarding longevity etc, but so far I like this. 4 Hour Update: Still there but we are down to a fresh and clean skin scent, individual notes not discernible to me anymore but distinctly recognisable on my shirt. Still enjoying the scent. Pleasant but not a unique profile.

I love this perfume so much. It smells like getting a fresh shower in a hotel on the coast of Italy. It’s not offensive and lasts very long on me. It smells a tad bit more mature than the original, which I like (I’ll be honest and say that I’m not a huge fan of the original & do not think that the intense version is similar to the original, so if you love the original, keep that in mind!) I can’t get over this perfume though it is just so good. Update: I wore this to work and got so many compliments - which I honestly don’t get many on any perfumes I wear, so I was surprised. One coworker bought the perfume on her phone right then and there. I was surprised at how good the sillage is.
