This is Armani Code reduced to its most indulgent elements, inviting a closer look at how that restraint translates in practice. Let’s pour a measure and crack the code on this newest flanker. Opening: The opening is sweet, leathery, and citrusy. With only four notes listed—leather, tonka bean, green mandarin, and liquor—it’s easy to identify each one early on. Leather announces itself first, arriving with a bold, biting, and noticeably animalic character. This is not the smooth, suede-like leather often found in designer releases, nor is it comparable to something like Tom Ford Ombre Leather. Instead, it feels rawer and more assertive, straddling the line between intriguing and polarizing, though personally I find it quite enjoyable. Tonka bean follows closely, acting as a counterbalance with a warm, smooth, vanillic sweetness that feels unmistakably Armani Code in style, nearly identical to the tonka used across the line. Green mandarin sits underneath, adding a bright, juicy citrus note with subtle green facets, very much in line with what was used in Code Absolu and Code Profumo. Lastly, working quietly in the background is the liquor note, which introduces a malty, boozy nuance reminiscent of the whisky-like accord found in Mugler Pure Malt, adding just enough novelty to set Elixir apart from other Code flankers. Dry Down: The dry down shifts into a sweet, boozy, and leathery profile. While the notes remain the same, their balance changes significantly. Tonka bean moves to the forefront, amplifying its warm, vanillic sweetness and becoming the clear anchor of the composition. The liquor note follows closely, growing denser and richer, reinforcing the fragrance’s indulgent, nocturnal character. Leather remains unmistakably present but softens into more of a supporting role, though it retains its animalic edge. Finally, the green mandarin lingers faintly in the background, offering occasional flashes of citrus brightness that keep the dry down from feeling overly heavy. At this stage, a resemblance to Carolina Herrera's CH Men Prive becomes quite apparent, particularly through the combination of leather, tonka, and boozy sweetness. There are also echoes of Montale's Dark Vanilla, driven by the interplay between the vanillic tonka and the animalic leather, which recalls the oud-driven leatheriness found in that scent. Performance: Projection during the first hour is very strong and capable of filling a room, with sillage matching that intensity through a dense scent trail. After a few hours, projection remains robust at around six feet, with little reduction in presence. Around the seven to eight hour mark, projection pulls back to roughly four to five feet, and the scent trail becomes lighter but still noticeable. The fragrance transitions into a skin scent between the ten and eleven hour mark. Overall, performance is solid and fully in line with the bold nature of the scent profile. When to Wear: Armani Code Elixir is best suited for fall and winter evening wear. Its dense, rich, and confident character makes it an excellent choice for special occasions such as date nights, and it can also work in formal settings when applied with restraint. However, it does not lend itself well to casual wear and would be overwhelming in an office environment. Blind Buy: For those familiar with and fond of fragrances like Armani Code Absolu or CH Men Prive, Armani Code Elixir will feel immediately familiar and comfortable, making it a relatively safe blind buy. If those references are unfamiliar, sampling first would be the safer route. Final Verdict: Armani Code Elixir was a blind buy that ultimately lands somewhere between a success and a near miss. The scent profile is one I genuinely enjoy, with a strong leather-and-tonka core supported by boozy depth and solid performance. At the same time, it does tread familiar ground, sharing DNA with several fragrances already in my collection, particularly CH Men Prive, Code Absolu, and Dark Vanilla. Rather than feeling like a direct replacement for any one of them, it comes across as a blend of all three, which gives it its own identity while still flirting with redundancy. In the end, that balance works in its favor. It may not be a centerpiece fragrance for me, but it’s one I’m glad to own and will reach for on occasion, making this blind buy a qualified win. This is fairly good. It is literally a darker, more complex, more mature Code Absolu. If you used to wear Code Absolu, and now you are a slightly older, wiser and a more mature guy .... this was made for you. This is for age 21 and up, and I definitely qualify for that x2 or more lmao. A strong, masculine leather, and subtle smoky and boozy accords are there, but none of this is too strong or off putting. The leather is definitely more prominent than the more subtle smoke and boozy accords. Everything blends in well. Armani Code Elixir smells like a group of guys in their 30's playing poker, relaxing in plush chocolate brown or cherry red leather club chairs, sipping single malt scotch and smoking Belvederes. And I am not saying there is a significant tobacco accord ... I wish there was. I just get a subtle, hazy, and slightly sour smoky accord in the distant backgound. If I could change anything about it, I would have attempted to add a sweet tobacco honey accord, or possibly a patchouli/cacao/chocolately component. That would have been sick. I love the entire Armani Code line, especially Absolu and Profumo. This was made for me. I think it is better than the new Acqua Di Gio Elixir, which isn't bad either. And it is blind buy safe if you already know you like Code Absolu. 7.75/10

I finally got my hands on this new Armani Code release (still yet to be officially released in Australia!!!!) from overseas and it’s really wonderful 🙂. The official note list is: Green Mandarin, Leather, Liquor and Tonka Bean, but I suspect there’s a little bit more going on than just those 4 notes. I can definitely sense the original Code DNA with its combination of lavender, cedar, olive blossom and a hint of tobacco notes, but they are definitely in the background of a really nice new black leather note combined with the original Code signature Tonka Bean note. The mixed reviews I’ve read for this release are quite perplexing. Some have said that they feel challenged by a too ‘animalic’ leather note, while others have said it strays too far from the original. Yet others that it’s uninspired! To my nose, there’s no doubt that this is part of Armani’s Code line up and far from an animalic leather note, I feel it’s probably a touch too polite 😁. Regardless of how others feel, I’m really enjoying this new Code and my only complaint is that it only comes in a small 50ml bottle 😂

However, for those who appreciate the deep, peaty nuances of a fine Scotch, this smokiness is a stroke of genius, adding a layer of sophisticated intrigue. Overall, Armani Code Elixir is a refined perfume for the discerning enthusiast, best reserved for formal wear and special occasions. Its superb performance in both longevity and sillage ensures it makes a lasting impression. This is a scent that is both seductive and undeniably classy.

Platinic Realm nailed it below. Right on and well said. I am a huge Armani Code EDP and Parfum fan. This has that base DNA working in the back and then adds exactly what Platonic lays out. It is a more grown up, bad ass version of the original DNA. That rating of 3.51 is crap. This is a 4.3 all day long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My only negative would be that it is too dam expensive!!!!!!!! All year around frag, leans night but could be worn to the office with day use as well.

That's pretty good. For a designer, it's very daring. Very leather forward, animalic, sweet. I don't think this will be a hit for the average consumer but if you're looking for a masculine, very unique for the designer space, powerful and bold fragrance then this is it. Good job Armani, even if I don't think this will stick for too long.

They took the code absolu dna and doused it in leather and liquor. I would say that its a good release since they brought back the code absolu but I cant justify the price tag for a tiny ass bottle. This hobby is getting too expensive for me 🫩

The boozy liquor note overpowers anything else from opening to mid to dry down. You barely can tell it has Code Absolu dna since the liquor note overpowers it.

Smells very close to Absolu gold flanker. I was worried that once my Absolu gold runs out I’ll miss it but this will replace it .

I own a full bottle of Armani Code Elixir and have worn it three times so far. From the opening to the drydown, a rich leather note is present throughout. While the official note breakdown includes boozy facets, I find them barely noticeable in the actual scent profile. Some have criticized its performance, but I can’t relate—on my skin, the longevity is excellent and lives up to the “Elixir” name. The sillage, however, is more moderate to intimate. That doesn’t mean it’s a skin scent—it projects just enough without becoming overpowering, which I personally prefer, especially considering the strong leather note. I’ve seen comparisons to Tom Ford Eau d’Ombré Leather, and I understand why. While there’s a similar leather-driven character, this isn’t a copy. Armani Code Elixir is its own interpretation—retaining the recognizable Armani Code DNA while layering it with a darker, more sensual leather twist. It feels aligned with the current 2025 trend of leather-forward compositions. Unlike more universally appealing Code flankers, this one leans more mature and sophisticated. I see it as better suited for nighttime wear or formal occasions. It’s not necessarily a crowd-pleaser, and it might not appeal to everyone—especially those not fond of leather. So I’d recommend sampling before buying, unless you’re already a leather fragrance enthusiast. All in all, I appreciate that Armani took a creative risk here. This isn’t just Code turned up to 11—it’s a bold reinterpretation that brings something genuinely new to the line.

This is pretty great and compared to other code flankers, outright mindblowing. Like the guy below said it smells of scotch, some manure smoked animalic notes over the sharp code dna. And notes contrast each other and never blend, so I guess you end up smelling lika a cowboy that sprayed some Code EDP on. As it progresses, the sweet, kind of safe, Code DNA takes the back seat, and you are left with strong animalic leather and smoky scent, that is so musculine, so salt of the earth, that it is puzzling. It is what I imagined Orto Parisi Cuoium smelled like, but this is still stranger and more original. On the other hand, I do use Code Parfum as a dumb reach dodorant type smell, so I may be too accustomed to a general code DNA and only notice the difference. But in any case as subjective as fragrance review may be, I am genuinely surprised by this composition. It smells like scotch, and for the asking price of what 80 euros at discounters, it is more than worth a shot. Eternal longevity, with mid projection.

If you don’t enjoy leather accords, you can safely scroll past this one — this release isn’t for you. But for those of us who appreciate leather, smoke, and a touch of sweetness and vanilla, this designer fragrance really delivers something special. To my nose, Armani Code Elixir strikes a fine balance: bold enough to stand out, yet approachable and never overbearing. It lasts for hours on the skin, with a soft, understated sillage that never invades anyone’s space. It’s not a revolution by any means, but a dark, masculine scent that works best in autumn and winter. Right now, it’s my daily driver — and I’m enjoying every bit of its quiet confidence.

Nose Note #1113 What's up with the low rating? This is genuinely nice, but you have to be a fan of a strong leather note. This is totally in the domain of Gucci Guilty Absolute, PP No Limits and Ombre Leather, but distantly. Smooth creamy oily leather. It does have something from the likes of Code Profumo and Absolu with this subtle coca-cola note or actually it's even similar to the other recent Hugo Boss Bottled Absolu for that matter, but slightly. Very nice! Great performance, good sillage. Satisfying experience, but again, you have to like leather and the poopy shade that comes with it. The price is rather steep for a 50ml. Very surprised by the rating of 3.69. I'd imagine the community should love it. 7.5/10

Finally got my hands on this... it is nothing like Armani code parfum (to me, still the best, just bought my second 150ml refill bottle). But what does this one smell like? My first thought is that it’s a perfume for an older guy. This just smell like MEN. Full on leather from start to finish, lasts super long on the skin and projects for a super long period of time as well. Everyone around me said it was 2 strong, some even said that it gave them headaches and I only sprayed it 3 times. 100% worth the buy if you want the proper smell of a men and like everyone 2 know that you have arrived

I get the redundancy in this one, but I don’t understand the hate. It’s smells like absolu kind of but honestly this smells like a deeper richer take on the new Armani code edp, which I thought smelled like powdery dubble dubble.. this is similar to that, whoever said down below that this is masculine and isn’t sweet isn’t smelling the right colonge, this stuff is really sweet, 7.5 out of 10..

This is rubbery leather that remind me of phillip phlein no limit, but a toned down version. This is the hybrid of code absolute without the powderiness plus a toned down version of no limit. Some people might find it soapy at drydown but some will find it sour-ry leather. I dont get any boozy at all. Not a safe blind buy, and it should be le parfum instead of elixir.

This smells just like azzaros new forever wanted elixir mixed with a little bit of the code DNA. I’m honestly pretty disappointed. I think they went a little bit overboard with the leather note. Also, this smells absolutely nothing like absolu. Anyone saying they’re the same, or even similar, has clearly not smelled the elixir

It's Code Absolu guys. Anyone saying it isn't is lying lol. It opens slightly fresher I guess, but after 30 mins they are indistinguishable. (I have both and sprayed on each arm)

at the very dry down i'm getting an extra virgin olive oil note when smelling it close to skin. nothing ground breaking, repetitive, modern, over done in a away.

This is 100% a mix of Mancera Black Noir and Code Absolu...nothing new, but the kids out there don't know that lol. Black Noir is nicer.

For a moment, it even brought to mind the scent of plastic bandaids, which was unexpected and a little off-putting. My daughter's friend said it smelled like insulin. Fortunately, that phase is short-lived. After about 15 minutes, the harsher edges begin to fade, and the fragrance softens into a much more wearable blend. The leather becomes smooth and slightly creamy, while the grilled tonka adds a warm, gently sweet undertone that’s both cozy and polished. The liquor here is subtle but effective—it doesn’t dominate, but it adds a low, amber-like warmth that enhances the base without becoming overly boozy. Combined with the tonka and leather, it creates a comforting dry down that feels deeper and more coordinated than the opening suggests. Honestly, this is a fragrance that rewards patience. I’m hoping that with time and some oxygen, the sharp top note might mellow out entirely. The dry down definitely makes it worth revisiting.

Very much like Code Absolu, oversaturated with leather. I guess people who like leather scents will appreciate it? Me, not interested at all, will have to get another bottle of Harmony Code Absolute to scratch that Absolu itch.

Armani Code Elixir is a leathery, animalic, and aromatic fragrance. From the opening, it plays with the clean, aromatic DNA of the Code line, now adding a leathery note that's a bit dirty; in fact, it seems to contain oud, because there's a perceptible animalic accord. The scent is linear and, in my opinion, not very well balanced, as it seems to want to convey both a clean and dirty aroma simultaneously. At times, a lavender and tonka bean note is present, similar to the Parfum version, while at others, the leather note is very strong. In my opinion, this fragrance is best suited for autumn and winter, nights out, or outings with friends. Unlike the other fragrances in this line, which can be worn at the office or on dates, this one doesn't fit into either scenario, although everyone can wear it as they wish. Its longevity has been very good, lasting almost 12 hours on me. With a noticeable sillage, above average for the first few hours, and then still perceptible at a medium distance. I didn't like this version of Code, as it doesn't define whether it wants to be a clean or dirty scent. It's as if they forced the leather note into the Code DNA, because it ends up being very animalic (one of my daughters told me it smelled like a barn, and the other didn't like it either). Perhaps a touch of suede would have been better, but that's just my opinion and how it developed on my skin. Try it and form your own opinion.
