Armani Code Ice

Found an unopened 2014 bottle from the back of my parents' cabinet that they had bought me a decade ago, but forgot to gift it. I didn't even know an "Ice" flanker of Code existed! To put it lightly: I'm in shock. I've always had a love-hate relationship with the Code line, so I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but boy was I wrong. To me Code Ice fixes everything that bugged me with the OG. It's a bit fresher, a bit more gingery and minty, evoking that cooling effect, while still preserving that powdery and creamy Code-y backbone that I love. While you can make the argument that there is no shortage of fresh shower gel scents, to me, Code Ice sets itself apart from the rest; maybe it's those buttery and powdery qualities that makes Code Ice more approachable, elegant, and not as aggressive as most of the scents in the same genre. So happy for the lucky incident. A true jackpot!

Take the original Code, and add and almost menthol feel to it. Add some citrus and lemons to the top. Code Ice. I think it smells pretty good. I was never crazy about the dark, woodsy smell of Armani Code, but I would wear this on the occasional summer night. I definitely smell this as a warm night frag. Or end of summer days, where the nights are chilly but the days are still warm. With one spray on my hand it project from my down by my hips, so it also has decent performance. Longevity I cannot yet say the same for. Really not bad. Doesn't deserve the hate. I think the mint and citrus notes may be giving off the impression of synthetic of "metallic" scents. I think it's okay though. If you like the original Code, you'll definitely like Ice

For me this is a great fragrance for the hot weather! I'm wearing this right now and it has a cooling feel without being too minty like a lot of Ice flankers out there. I think this is great for the gym and anything sporty. It also goes very well with a white shirt or lighter clothes. It just fits that type of visual aesthetic for me. I can see how someone would think this smells synthetic but to me this does not! This smells very pleasant and well blended. It is linear but in a good way because with a summer ice flanker you just want something simple that does the job anyway. This also has that clean Armani quality to it that I enjoy with their fragrances. For me this is fantastic! I give this a 91/100.

Wow, this is really beautiful! I'd almost say this is one of the best smelling fragrance in the whole line. The only drawback is performance. I have to put my nose on my arm to smell it. If there was a more powerful version then this would be perfect. I've noticed in the reviews that the older version seems to be the way to go, so perhaps there is hope for this fragrance after all... I would buy this, for sure. Maybe as I get more acquainted with it I may realize it's not so bad after all.

I dont care what any of the haters say, I love this scent. It's one of the handful of Armani scents I can stand. I find some of them have this really sweet note, too sweet. Obviously not the A D G's, but the codes etc. And I like sweet but not that kind of sweet. Oh yea, I also like that newish cedar one that vaguely reminds you of cedar. But that is sometimes how I want to be reminded of cedar, vaguely.

brilliant summer flanker of Code which is discontinued and very hard to find at this point, i get fresh mint, apple and citruses added to original dna and its not as powdery, lovely aroma and freshness for summer and spring days...hidden gem 9/10

so I got it to myself....not too masculine to give it to my BF - I prefer him to wear very masculine types of scents. this one is for ME - fresh, gender-neutral, sporty, for those days I dont like anything sweet

Tried it today, its opening is very similar to code sport, then dries down to being virtually the same as code, just a little fresher! its a really good blend of the 2 fragrances on sale now in the UK

Love this for summer! Armani Code Ice is so refreshing and perfect for hot days. The mint and ginger really pop and make it feel super clean. It lasts a good while too, which is always a plus.

in my skin this is exactly like armani sport code... be careful when spraying...oversprayed a little bit, walked inside a store, and clerks were asking me what gorgeous scent i was wearing...

And here we have Armani Code Ice Pour Homme. And I start this review by touching at the same point ever: how good it is to get a flanker (a version of other fragrance, previously released) that respects de DNA of the original version, the one that started it all. Especially when they are fresher or intense variations. Unlike the Sport Athlete version, from 2012, which should be called Armani Code Fraiche, this Ice version received a great name, an excellent choice that escapes the traditional terms "fresh" or "fraiche". The idea of having the same original fragrance, now with icy nuances, combines very well with the chosen name. And it works! The composition of Armani Code Ice brings notes of mint, lime and ginger, in the output; geranium, lavender, and Sage in the heart; guaiac wood and tonka bean, in the base. The concept, according to the manufacturer, was to bring a mixture of the versions Golden Edition with Sport Athlete. What I do know is that this version is very good. From the moment that is applied on the skin, it is possible to smell the original version, as if it had been frozen. However, the fragrance of the 2004 version, which many find nauseating or with a medicinal aspect is gone. The leathery tone is also not present anymore, resulting in a fragrance more restrained, woody, with an almond touch like before, but with less vanilla aspect, since this version does not bring tobacco mixed in. What I like in this version is the fact that there is a refreshing layer, in the first place, over a floral layer in which the geranium presents spicy and menthol nuances. Then, a third layer arises, making us remind of the original version. This is not about evolution, but the way the nose perceives the olfactory pyramid. The only problem that I checked during the first tests I did, before writing this review, was the low projection. Even the Sport Athlete version projects more. On the other hand, I could notice a great olfactory accommodation, which is bad, because it makes the user think that the perfume is not strong enough, when, in fact, it is still exuding. The lasting on my skin is as good as the original version. To end, once again, they kept the visual identity of the line, bringing a Silver metallic-looking bottle.

I expected so much more from this... But when i sprayed this...I was hit by a fresh clean shower gel / dish washing liquid scent from this frag. If you're going to work out...pick this up and go H.A.M! This is better suited for the spring and summer scent. Outside of that, it will be a waste. Save your money, if you have a freshy in your collection already. Then you're good. I used six sprays...both wrist, back & front of my neck, chest and front of my shirt. Will I buy this again?...No! Does this fragrance enter BEAST MODE, good, just okay or weak sauce at best? Just okay. What's the strength of this? EDT. Am i willing to trade this fragrance? Yes! Even though my tastes have changed, for many (many) years, Armani Code was my go to, except for in the summer. Into my life walks Armani Code Ice & my love for Code has been reinvigorated. Of the top, even without looking at the notes (as I was in a basement discounter store, so no service), I caught this exhilarating waft of mint immediately. The citrus & ginger followed but that mint sold me on it. Then I caught the dry down which maintains, to my still fairly new to fragrances nose, a lot of the original DNA of the scent that I loved for oh so very long. I'd see this as something that could and would totally rock just about any situation in the summer. Maybe not a beach scent (I'd go with a LB or ADG for that, or even a nice cheapy like Cool Water Intense) but summer day hang outs, check. Summer date night? Very big check. Just sucks that it's discontinued but I'm so glad that I grabbed mine last week.

Just got this today after spying it at Marshall's...somewhat pricey for what is($66.00 for a 50ml)...this could be unisex. Odd no one has suggested this smell's like a Dsquared offering...one of the he-woods...I'm thinking maybe Rocky Mountain wood. Could be good for a rainy day. The reviews are right though, it is joyless, cold...probably for the office. Does have some iso'ey-ness but not as bad as something from Issey Miyake...I wouldn't buy it again. I like, but not love what I smell...bares no resemblance to the original code...but I think has the same if not better longevity. Safe blind-buy.

Slightly spicy, a bit sweet, cold fresh without being citrusy. It sounds boring, but it is a very nice perfume. It is well blended, inviting. I love when my husband wears it. To me it is the perfect male fragrance for summer. It is not excessive in any way (and doesn't smell like deodorant, thank God). Very well behaved and very appealing. It does not make a statement, if that's what you are looking for, but, like i said, it is an understated seducer. Two thumbs up from me.

Guys this one is really awesome, rather crazy and very sexy.. i just got today and i must say very clean and even better in fall and cool summer nights, Beautiful combination of sweet and citrus, the dry down reminds me of a modified version of Jimmy Choo, CK Reveal and 212 VIP Cross combo...Unexpectedly unlike the original code this one has a great longevity.. Good one Armani.. nice one after Essenza..

Found it today and tried it on paper. So, i'm gonna make a short review. It's not far from the original Code. For the first 2 hours you will get the DNA from the original with a minty feeling, but then, as Gazo30 said, it becomes almost identical with the original, with a subtle mint and ginger. Longevity and sillage are moderate.

This is unmistakably Armani Code, albeit much stronger. Judging on its own, I'm not sure whether this one suits hot summer days, despite its name. It's still very sweet and has the characteristic of a winter scent. It is also rather artificially smelling, but longevity is almost sensational. **

Very woody drydown, much more than i expected. I own both Athlete and Ice, no similarity at all. Athlete is much fresher. Ice is more of a autumn/winter type of scent. Got a bottle of Ice today and i'm not that impressed, so far.

Armani Code Ice Giorgio Armani for men is a good one for the summer the lemon , ginger & mint really reflect a very good impression on my skin which reflects a really good complements to you , so keep up the good work !

Cool and spicy, a very nice and original perfume. Very masculine,comforting and sexy. Perfect for capricornians because it smells like strenght and ambition. Sillage is powerful too. Thumbs up for this one.

This is good stuff! I don't know why everyone is hating on it. It's similar to the original but better for all season wear. It's not generic like code sport, and can be worn for every occasion. Good stuff!

Good for the hot weather.. But not like aftershave freshness. I don't recommend to buy it, there are more Armani perfumes absolutely better than this one.

Worth every penny. Regardless of the issue with synthetic smell, this scent last all day. Great longevity.

It's good , smells spicy , overall good, but still , nothing beats the legendary Originally Code

It's a note combination everyone has done a dozen times with slight variation. All freshie summer wear. Won't make much difference. The Armaf, Lattaffas, Sapil, Swiss Arabian do a little better on performance as they are supposedly EDPs, but they aren't way better. You'll need to overspray and spray again midday as usual with freshies. I'd just get the cheapest of these you can find for the gym bag, or those hot summer days and move on. You can buy $100 and up freshies if you like, but they'll still smell like this and won't perform any better. I keep a travel spray of Nautica Voyage in the car to freshen up in hot weather, but any of above will do just as well, or just as poorly, depending on how you look at it. .

Agh, this one JUST missed the mark as a "love" from me. Code Ice opens with a blast of mint and ginger that really does give off a "cooling" effect. It is pleasant and potent - sillage is not an issue for me. The drydown is where things go awry. The original Code DNA is definitely there, and I do love when flankers keep the backbone of their older brothers. But it just doesn't work for me this time. It's just kind of...drab and uninteresting, lavender that is neither here nor there and has little to do with the awesome opening. I do feel like this could have been a "sexy" fragrance in its day and don't quite agree with the level of dislikes it gets. I might be more tempted to revisit it if it wasn't discontinued with rising prices, but as it stands, I'll take a pass.

The first and one and only EDT I ever gave to my husband which reeks unbearably. Every time I buy a perfume for myself I get one for him too. Never made a mispurchase, everything fits him. My test on the paper strip in the store must have smelled nicely though or else I wouldn't have bought it, but when he wore it, it turned my stomach upside down, it was so nauseating and repugnant it made me want to puke. And at first I didn't suspect the fragrance being the culprit, I guessed he bought a new deodorant ... BTW it is the first fragrance here in fragrantica I saw with more dislikes than loves or likes. I agree with koskhandeh's review. Worst ever smelled fragrance for men, physical dislike!

The first 30 minutes strongly remind me of Nightflight, with the main player being synthetic but smooth lavendar. After that it turns into nothing but nose-pinching, disinfectant-like aroma chemical, which is also strong - but bearable - in Code Sport. After the short opening I don't get anything else but this. The problem: it lasts and projects. After washing it off the skin it still went on for 3~4 hours. Not exactly a pleasant experience.

If I was new to fragrances maybe I wud like this (who knows maybe others might like it on me). But this type of subtle sweet scent is just so common that it makes me sick. I believe I have smelled this a hundred times in different bottles from different designers, its like the most standard fragrance to me. From now when whenever I try a perfume I that smells this way I will give it thumbs down because I am sick of smelling it, period!

This is one fragrance that I can't do. I can't describe why, it's just not pleasant to me nor would I want anyone to smell me smelling like it. I know this is not much of a review. I can't comment on the performance, but it's a simple review of another person's opinion of not being a fan. However, I love most of the Armani frags. Mike

whereas original code is a sweet winterfragrance that i like a lot, code ice is a (very) synthetic smelling irritating byproduct that tries to surf on the success of its big brother...and fails miserably...shame on you GA

Very sickly opening, very feminine smell, there's something synthetic in this I didn't like, but luckily after thirty minutes all trace had gone, poor.

An absolutely unnecessary release. Seriously, why was it made? I have no idea. It will disappear from the selves soon like snow in early winter.

My least favorite of all my Armani frags...and I have a lot of them. Lasts about 4 hrs and soft projection. Colonia is better.

Ugh- this is literally just the watered down OG lemon olive green tonka dna. *eye roll*. You might as well just use the original og 2004 and use less sprays if you want it to be suited for summer. Those below praising this- you got to be kidding me you clearly have little to compare on. I'm insulted this was even released and made a thing. Most importantly!; (as this was really the only discernable difference from the OG and the 'ice' version in the note listing) I BARELY detect any MINT!!! This is why I sampled this in the first place, it's my favorite note. You get more a very subtle menthol in the opening over a mint aroma. But even detecting 'menthol' could have been all in my head. It's that non-recognizable. Like really? If you are going to make an 'icy' minty Armani Code go BIG like you did when you made a sweet gourmand Profumo. I just noticed they don't have 'tonka' in the ice version- yet I smell the same dna with tona- they probably like combined some florals in the base to create the same effect- who knows I honestly don't care it smells the same to me. IDK this flanker is all smoke and mirrors and Pennywise clown games. Wasted my money on this dumpster money grab. Wish I tried sport now over this- but now I have low expectations for Sport. So far this is the bed bug of Armani Code flankers for me. Get Colonia- it has far more uniqueness and character and gives the same effect without lying about its top notes. FOH! Nexttt! 0/10

A light fragrance, then little creamy, but very short lived and close to the skin I applied 6 heavy sprays 0-30 mins- 3 inch projection, this is so light and non-descript, it fails to get character and is a little synthetic 30 mins - 1.25 hours- 2 inch projection-the lavender-creaminess and iconic original code. comes in, with an ice slant which i assume is the mint but it is so faint 1.25 hours -2 hours- 1 inch projection 2 hours - 3 hours. close to skin and the creaminess leaves and is replaced by a messy, generic woods This frag has no connection to code sport or athlete, instead it is a lighter and icy take on the original code. I recommend Code Ultimate over this one, though if you are looking for something more for summer, try and Get Code Sport Athlete (not just Code Sport) as that frag is IMHO a masterpiece, however it is hard to find now Not for me

Run of the mill, brainless composition. A vulgar attempt to catch up with the mint summer trend. Runs through top and heart notes within seconds to reach the irritating amber base that I can't get off of me. Feels extremely cheap, like a cheaper version of an axe (lynx) fragrance. Totally unbalanced, not even fit to be called a fragrance. While I like several of the Armani Prive line titles, I find the mainstream selection is steadily becoming worse by additions such as this that only manage to harm the brand name. It has been ages since Armani actually introduced anything distinctive in the market and this has resulted in me steering clear off their shelves when I go shopping. Notes on the commercial: Couldn't they get a model with a smaller head or at least someone who doesn't have difficulty going down the stairs?

Certain batches of this are arguably the best of the entire Code range. Such is my love, I have six bottles. The weaker iterations are indistinguishable from the modest Code Colonia, but the earlier releases are extraordinarily powerful with a knife like sharpness that could cut through any competing odours. At its best, Code Ice is a brilliant powerhouse and it could humble (on a few levels) many niche perfumes: if you’re tempted to laugh, compare this with the extortionately expensive Alexandria ii extract by Xerjoff—which sometimes I wear as a subtle alternative to Armani Code Ice. And yes this is discontinued—although Code Colonia smells exactly the same, but the latter is weaker.
