Armani Code Profumo

Giorgio Armani Code Profumo opens with a strong projection of sweet, leather, spicy, and fruity notes. The opening is very projecting, aromatic, and pleasant. The leather accord is very prominent, it comes across as dry white leather, and it has a soft gasoline-like vibe but isn’t pungent or animalic. The tonka, listed as a base note, but comes up as soon as the fragrance is applied, it adds a sweet, caramel-like note. The green mandarin and green apple combine their notes adding a fruity touch, and less prominent are the lavender and orange blossom, both a floral accord. The cardamom and nutmeg create a spicy note that goes well with the leather, not prominent but noticeable. Finally, the amber adds a resinous, sweet, and projecting accord. The fragrance has three prominent projecting accords, tonka, amber, and leather. The most noticeable opening to dry-down change is the fruity notes which are noticeable during the opening but significantly dissipate towards the dry-down. BLIND-BUY: Yes, but only if you are familiar with leather and sweet tonka bean notes. SIMILAR: These are fragrances in the same genre. Jean-Paul Gautier Ultra Male is a great sweet, leathery fragrance; Guerlain L'Homme Ideal EDP is soft leather and almond; John Varvatos Dark Rebel Rider is a great darker fragrance featuring leather, incense, and other notes; Mancera Gold Prestigium is a high-quality fragrance that contains leather, rose, and vanilla notes; Montale Aoud Leather is a great leather and oud scent; Paco Rabanne 1 Million EDP is a super sweet, leather, and orange fragrance; Tom Ford Ombre Leather is a great sweet leather fragrance; Tom Ford Tuscan Leather is smoky and fruity; Tom Ford F Fabulous contains leather, almond, floral notes; Valentino Uomo Intense EDP, is a fantastic leather, aromatic but lacks performance; Amouage Memoir Men EDP is an awesome leather and tobacco fragrance; Bentley For Men Intense EDP is an impressive and affordable leather fragrance. SUMMARY: A strong projection, sweet (tonka), leather, spicy (cardamom, nutmeg) fragrance with soft citrus and floral accords. The fragrance feels bold, casual, exotic, heavy, high-quality, imposing, intense, leathery, masculine, modern, nocturnal, playful, spicy, sweet aromatic, warm, versatile, and pleasant.

Scent: So, first and foremost I was lucky enough to get the 200ml bottle of Profumo on the Armani beauty site for 40% off when they were having huge sales back in 2021. I ended up paying like $83 for that 200ml. It's a steal! Now, when it comes to the scent, this is very, very good. I'm a huge fan of sweet Scents, so this is great for me and right up my alley. The fragrance starts off with a dose of Tonka Bean, lavender, and a bit of leather. After that, the lavender and leather start to fade slowly into the background, while the amber starts to make its way with the Tonka Bean still pretty much present. Throughout the life of the fragrance the amber and Tonka Bean are present. You also get hints of spice in the opening, but not as much, at least to my nose. Finally, the fragrance remains pretty much linear after that, kind of reminds me of a powdery hot cocoa drink, while in the beginning it has a Dr. Pepper or Cola vibe to it. Definitely one of the best fragrances I own. Now, if you're not a fan of sweet, "powdery", and "dessert-smelling" fragrances, then this is not for you. Overall, great Scent. Performance: When it comes to the performance this is wonderful. This fragrance is definitely Beast Mode. Just with a few sprays you're definitely going to leave a Scent trail and fill up a small room or office, so for those reasons I do not recommend this for office wear or tight gatherings. The Projection is pretty loud for the first 90mins, with the first 30 mins being very obnoxious. After those 2hrs it will still project, but just around you with people next to you definitely noticing the scent. The sillage is also very good, leaving a good scent trail for the first hour clinging to the air strongly. The Longevity is eternal. I got 13hrs plus more, but stopped counting after the 13th hour. So great Performance! Seasons: This is a cold temperature type of fragrance. This is not good for hot days or even warm days. This scent is great for late fall and winter. Cons: This cologne was unfortunately discontinued, so I can't really recommend it. The good news is that people say the 2024 version of Code EDP smells very, very similarly to Profumo, so that's the good news.

Armani Code Profumo, AC Absolu's equally hyped sibling. How does is stand up to AC Absolu? Read on to find out; Scent: Opening is dark, sweet, and heavy with a little bit of effervescence to it. Reminds me a bit of root beer. Cardamom, nutmeg, and tonka take center stage while green apple and mandarin play in the background. The dry down is similar to the opening, the main differences being that the green apple and mandarin notes are gone and the leather note has shown up. Still kinda smells like root beer to me though. Performance: Initial projection is strong at around 6 feet. Sillage is strong as well, leaving an easily noticeable scent trail. After about 4 hours the projection was about arms length and there was still a noticeable scent trail. Altogether it stayed on my skin for over 12 hours, making it certified eternal. When to wear: This is definitely a fall/winter fragrance. I feel the brightness of the apple and mandarin gives it enough versatility to be worn day or night, but only in cooler weather. This is not an office friendly fragrance. Blind buy: I would call this a safe blind buy if you like the AC line or anything sweet and effervescent. It's mass appealing, there's nothing offensive about it, and it sticks pretty close to the AC DNA. Final Verdict: This is a great fragrance, my second favorite AC behind Absolu. The simple reason Absolu edges this out for first place is because I feel Absolu is more versatile. That being said, I'm happy to have them both in my collection. The problem with AC Profumo is, as with Absolu, it's discontinued. That means it's hard to find and expensive when you find it. If you can find a full size bottle for $150 or under, I'd say go for it, you won't regret it. Otherwise, go for Armani Code EDP as it will get you close enough. Alternately, you can try Paco Rabanne's Pure XS as it has a similar sweet and effervescent soda vibe. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10

Just picked it up while vacation in San Andres and it was cheap asl. Got it for 388k cop and to dollars that’s just under $100. Not to even mention it’s been discontinued for a while now. Dirt cheap pick up if u ask me lmao. As for the fragrance itself, it’s beautiful. Nice and powdery with soft sweetness. The lavander mixes in with the green apple which is not bitter at all btw and make this gentle but very memorable fragrance. Bits and pieces of the Code line can be picked up but it does it’s own thing. I also smelled Absolu and I gotta say it would be a bit redundant to own both. I found that absolu is just a little more feminine Ig?. It feels more rounded and somehow smoother than Profumo. Nonetheless, 100% worth the purchase. I have it sittting on my skin and it’s been sitting there on my wrist for 20 mins now and I find that the apple is giving bubblegum sweetness now with coke and some spices. Do not pay more than $200 for this. It’s an amazing fragrance but it’s not niche level of smell yet. I will say one last thing and that is that versatility on this is average as any other cool weather fragrance. It’s bubblegum sweetness make it usable daytime and the spices make it suitable for nightwear. Its not too formal but it is elegant. Probably don’t take this one to a business meeting but please do wear it at a business party. Anyw, ik this was a long ass review but it was necessary.

So, since all the discontinuing is actually apparently happening, I just by chance found this on sale in an Ulta about a week ago. I am a die-hard Absolu fan, but I never really gave this a fair shot. For the price, I felt the urge to see what the hype was. In my opinion, this feels closer to original Code, but with subtle differences. I'll say this, the opening is slightly alcohol-dominant, but after that initial blast the opening is lovely. The lavender is very dominant here, like the OG for me, but instead of a lot of spices, it is inherently sweet with the apple. I definitely see the cola/root beer vibe for this, but only in the far dry-down. For longevity, at first I thought it was not good. It felt like after 4 hours I couldn't smell it anymore, but then after a short time I would get wafts of it. Noseblindness, maybe. Since then, after wearing it several times, I can say absolutely this has great longevity at about 10 hrs. Projection is moderate, but the sillage might be on par if not right below Absolu. Wonderful scent trail. Overall, I think I still like Absolu better, but after a week of wearing this, I'm glad I have this as well. Might consider getting the second bottle if it's still there...

@Ben88. The same happened to me. I bought a bottle last week. Sprayed on four sprays and I was barely able to detect it after an hour. So I decided to spray it on my wrist, to see if I was getting nose-blind. Now, two hours later I can barely smell it on my wrist. What the actual hell... The first time I sampled this, I remembered the performance to be out of this world and MUCH too loud for my taste. I remember taking the sample strip into my car, choking me out, just from that one spray on the strip. My car smelled like Code Profumo for two days. However, I got interested again and I sampled it in the store 2 weeks ago and I found the loudness to be toned down (which I liked very much and made me order a bottle). The longevity was still very good though. After wearing it for 6 hours and taking a shower, I could still easily detect it on my arm the whole evening. However, my own bottle is performing like a wet noodle. Lets hope it performs better in a few weeks/months. Even though, I am not into this so-called maceration, what a lot of people religiously believe in. Edit: I even went so far to buy a second bottle, from a different store (and even country). Lets see how that one performs.

Still one of my favorite fragrances. I am using it a lot during the colder days. Basicly, it is my favorite strongly-sweet scents. Yes, it is sweet! But not the teeny-sweet like the one million or the fresh sweet of the Eros or the bubblegummy sweet of the Ultramale. It is deeper and kind of darker. Well balanced! Cutts trough the cold air and works really amazing in the winter. The vanilla is prominent, alongside the tonka, but stays masculine all the way. Fills the closed enviroment, but cannot be considered as disturbing or annoying. Sadly my bottle contains few more sprays and it will be over. Gladly, it is still hot around me and will not touch the bottle in a few months. But I am sure it will be done in the first winter day, because it will be my first choice when the weather alllows it. And then it will be done. I am thinking about a funeral or some ritualistic stuff. The frag is unavailable in my country anymore. It will be hard to part with this one as it was my 3rd full bottle when I srarted and was the first one I bought from one of the major stores in my city. Will be glad if it returns on the shelves in some moment <3

Oh I'm really gonna miss this one. My 20's scent for nights out, and the only bottle I've bought 4 times. Was lucky enough to find a bottle in a ferry trip between islands for like 50€. Definitely a Tonka powerhouse. It has a kind of bubbly/effervescent feel to my nose. You can feel the spices, an apple similar to the one we see on Eros... Then it starts to warm up with its amber, its leather, and a really pleasant aromatic lavender. A bit sweeter than the Absolu. IMO you can wear this anytime but hot summer days. A few number sprays can do the trick if it's warm, but it is more suitable for the cold. Longevity and sillage, I'm still not sure. I feel it's just average, the kind of longevity/sillage you maybe want for a date, not too cloying, noticeable up close, but I think it has to do with my skin. Leather seems to not get along with it :( Sadly this one + the Absolu will be discontinued, so get one if you find it before it dissapears. Really hopping for Armani to take it back into the stores. If you want something "similar" and cheap, Zara has a decent clone of this one: Extreme 9.0

Just tested my new bottle which is the 6.7 oz made for Macy’s bought from fragrance net. It’s a still a beast just like the original bottle I had in 2016 so not sure about people complaining about reformulation if they even did that. I get a classy sweet root beer float as well when I wear this. I also get a sweet cherry pipe tobacco . If you like those scents I’d give this a try. I’ve seen a few others say they get cherry or almond also. Who knows for sure if they even did a reformulation anyways . Usually it’s just a rumor started by a few people and everyone gets crazy. Also I believe this may be discontinued because I originally went to Macy’s to buy this and they were sold out. The lady tried to order it online for me but they were also sold out. I’ve looked online and Nordstrom and Macys both don’t carry it online anymore it says item is no longer available. Fragrance net only has the 1oz and 6.7 oz available so if you want a bottle before they’re all gone I’d buy one ASAP from the site I mentioned above or any other reputable seller you can find!

Smells like Invictus Victory and 1 Million mixed. Not nearly as raunchy though. Just enough code dna to keep this elegant and not over the top with sweetness. Has a powdery vanilla that comes through more as it dries and is very smooth around the edges and is very pleasant but still potent. Definitely root beer float undertone to my nose. Projection is great and alittle goes a long way. Seems to last around 8+ hours with a nice scent trail. This is more a gentlemans night out fragrance and can be worn by the older crowd as well as young. Not as sticky sweet as 1 Million but still is pretty sweet. The leather and nutmeg lingers in background faintly. Not as much leather as Absolu but very high in amber and tonka, the lavender and florals keep it mature and upscale. Overall is a 8 out of 10. Great for cool to cold nights out more date night than clubbing scent IMO 8/10

The scent of this is fantastic however the notion this is beastly is false it is in fact one of the weakest scents in my collection.I am willing to accept that I possibly got a bad bottle however it the batch code indicates its authentic.I purchased it from Fragrance Direct and I cannot recommend as I do notice their scents tend to be weaker.Based on scent this is first class but due to my bottle it which is a skin scent I cannot give this more than a 5/10. I have loads of scents in this category like Spicebomb Extreme,Hugo Boss The Scent Absolute(which was also bough from the same site yet actually performs better though again not a beast) and Azzaro Wanted By Night so once this bottle is finished I wont be rebuying unfortunately.For this type of DNA I would simply go with Wanted By Night that is a true beast hopefully they never reformulated that.

A great look at Armani’s past. Yes this fragrance has been discontinued for more modern flankers which I’m slightly disappointed by. It makes sense due to this fragrance’s more dated and old school feel. Warm amber's and tonka give this fragrance a 2010’s vibe and personally give a nostalgic feel. For some it may be too sweet and headache inducing, especially in warmer climates. Best worn in colder nights and evenings of fall and winter. If you can get your hands on this, it is a nice alternative and mature touch of stronger with you, replacing the vanillas with amber and caramels. -unique and different take on the warm sweet fragrances -may be acquired-tasting for the strong tonka and amber's in replacement of vanilla -great performance (EDP) -Consistent and smooth tonka/amber from start to finish.

Gorgeous... I used to smell this on a guy at work who was a walking advertisement for what an Armani model should look like. Everytime he walked past me l could smell this fragrance and l got lost in its creamy Amber tonka vibes that would give a nod to the middle east with something spice market in it, which l now realise is cardamom and nutmeg. Then you get a touch of masculine among the floral sweet fruity denseness that pushes through with a bit of leather and it just intrigues you. It's a very sexy perfume. l ended up asking him one day what that fragrance was and got myself a bottle. It's very strong has a bit of Calvin Kleins Obsession about it but is more creamy and expensive smelling. I wear it from time to time to get a scent trail of its heavenly fragrance. I give this an 8.5/10

#398 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I was not at all expecting it to be this good. Everything I like in one scent, balanced just the way I like it. Good projection, solid EDP performance. SO of course it's discontinued and I'm at the mercy of eBay scalpers. Of course. God hates me. It's actually not a big deal. I've got at least a half dozen scents that are somewhat interchangeable with this one, but it is a damn fine scent, and discontinuing it was just stupid. So many good scents taken from us too soon. Too much foul and disgusting dreck that just never seems to go away despite that no one in their right mind would ever buy it if they knew what it was, scents for which their designers should suffer the tortures of the damned. I'm looking at you Pino Silvestre.

Finally sourced a legit replacement bottle for my collection. It will be my 3rd. LOVE this stuff!! Love. Code DNA infused with a cola-esque mid and drydown with a touch of leather. SO damn good. Wife loves it too. And pretty much everyone else that smells it on me. I really enjoy the Code line, as a whole. So this makes me happy. And they perform reasonably well on me, which helps. I guess I will have to nurse this one along as much as possible. ***anyone looking on ebay or other sites, use caution as I did have a bad experience once already with a fake----if the deal seems to good to be true, then it probably is*** Edit/Update : Just buy the 2024 Code EDP. Tweaked re-release of Profumo. It's AWESOME

One of the most SEXY fragrances for intimate encounters. This addictive sweetness of the caramel perfect balanced with the spices and leather it's just incredible. The drydown it's even more sexy in my opinion, the more it dries up, the sexier it gets. The leather, the warmth of the spices and the amber notes in the drydown mix even better and better, it's just can stop getting better. It's a shame it's been discontinued, I prefer the Absolu but I'm still gonna get a couple of big bottles even if it costs me a month of my salary, this fragance it's worth it. If you find it in your local store and if u like sweet fragrances, don't think it twice my brother, buy that shit. This is a solid 9/10.

Sadly only one store in my area has testers so 95% of my purchases are blind buys. I've Had my eye on this one for a while, but never really convinced myself to pull the trigger. That is until I saw that we finally had a tester of Profumo in so I had to give it a sniff. My god. I'm in love with this one. Immediately went online and found a great deal, and have been rocking this on cold weather nights ever since. Shame I live in Texas and those cold nights are over, but Code Profumo has quickly become my go-to scent for the Fall/Winter, replacing my beloved Dolce & Gabanna The One. Long lasting and projects like a champ. No scent is perfect, but to me, this one is pretty damn close. 9.5/10

Nice sweet and inviting fragrance. Excellent for cold winter days. It projects well and gives initially a typical sweet PR One Million vibe, but once it is settled, it grows to a more mature and rich version of that. Initially when I first got this fragrance in 2016, I didn't like it as around that time the One Million and other sweet fragrances were worn by a lot of teenagers, but it grew on me over time. I still find the dark and sinister original Code Eau De Toilette better, but this is very good if you want to up the level of the Code DNA. Unfortunately this has been discontinued and the code line got replaced with Le Parfum, which uses a more flowery Iris note.

Adoro este perfume, pero tengo un gran problema con él, no puedo usarlo. Lo compre hace como 8 años en una tienda oficial, fue el precio más alto que pague por un perfume gracias a las recomendaciones de YouTube... Y el aroma es dulce, pesado, cálido y potente a la vez y en una ciudad como en la que vívo donde la temperatura promedio es de 32 °c, no se los recomiendo causa mareos y nauseas por momentos Es un aroma estupendo, que me enseñó a no comprar un perfume solo por qué me guste, sino también a poder atención a las circunstancias en que se piensa usarlo: el entorno, la temperatura, la ocasión, la ropa... Etc.

I’ve always wondered if this was Armani’s response to 1 million, a youthful clubbing scent with a sweet cola-like vibe riding on top of their tonka base. Who knows. I’m too old for that, but I’ll tell you I sure do enjoy wearing this casually during the winter and I’m awfully sad it’s discontinued (although still widely available). Initially Profumo feels too youthful but it turns out I like feeling youthful during the winter. It does smell a little dated but I’m dated. It does seem to try too hard but life is hard. All I know is that I’m going to miss my spicy tonka cola cologne when it’s gone.
