Armani Eau Pour Homme (new)

Is this as good as the 1984 O.G.? No. But is it good juice? Heck yeah. I will say that recent batches have changed: less sparkle, more synthetic. Still, I would rather have a world with this in it than without. A world with no Armani Eau pour Homme at all is a very bleak world indeed. Terrible that it's been discontinued. Seriously folks, let's mobilize forces and get Armani/L'Oréal to revive the real thing. Nothing else can fill the void left by this glorious citrus, basil, spicy, mossy masterpiece. It's timeless Italian elegance and sophisticated masculinity that towers head a shoulders above all the modern screech juice and candy slop these days. I love this random Reddit guy's comment: "I would not wear this on a date or to a club. Repeat after me: You do not wear this to a club. You wear this when you own the f*ing club." Write to Armani offices in New York, in Milan, in Paris, to say how much the original still commands a massive, dedicated following in the fragrance community, and how now we're all forced to seek out depleted vintage bottles at exorbitant prices, by the relaunch from grey market discounters, or seek out dupe houses that fall short of the mark. Flood them with testimonies of how beloved this stuff actually is. Talk about it on social media. Tag it and send it to all your frag head friends. Tell Armani how shortsighted and counterproductive it is to discontinue such an iconic, historic, masculine, classic fragrance that anchored the house for so long and so well, before the fragrance industry was hollowed out by corporate cost-cutting and synthetic shortcuts. The Armani line-up now is dominated by trend-chasing trash and its synthetic flankers that lack substance and any semblance of real art. We need to bring back the original. I would certainly buy direct from Armani if I knew I was getting legit stuff, and not some reformulated synthetic screech juice. Even a limited-edition heritage run, an exclusive online-only drop, or part of an Armani/Privé high-end line, reviving this scent would be such an awesome tribute to the Armani's historic legacy, a major story for fragrance media and extreme fan loyalty, as well as a massive win for Armani brand purists. Bring it back!!!

Being honest in my reviews, I tend to lean toward the emotional aspect of the fragrance without getting too technical about the breakdown and accords. I must admit i had the opportunity to smell the original and was thankful they had not overdosed on inovation. I remember the old one being very musky and sweet but I prefer the newer. As my portfolio suggests I adore classics and fragrances with at least a reputation. Armani pour homme is luxurious juice in old-fashioned packaging. The box and bottle are honest in intent without too many screaming decorations. The spritzer works well and gives a generous mist. As I apply, there is a bitter-sweet tinge making me curious about the development. In about a couple of hours the invigorating spice bonfire quietly excuses itself and a deeper and darker mystery unfolds itself. It is certainly NOT screaming: "Hey, look at me, I can wear this and it will make me cool!", but boldly introducing itself and assuming it's position. The vibe of the drydown is mysterious. Although imposing, it suggests rather than states. Instead of amusing you, it shares the experience. It is like your energy-booster (in a deeper, non-Redbull fashion). Maybe that is why it grew on me so fast. Who do I imagine wearing this? Mid 20s+, position of trust, power, persuasion (doctors, bankers, white-collar jobs, entrepreneurs, teachers...). I can vision someone from the generation x, in wish of power, sex, abundance, money wearing this. If you are in the position of power, where you call the shots and people answer to you, then you have found your olfactory match. However, I do not recommend it to youngsters, generation Y, clubbers and women. I recommend wearing this in the daytime, especially in summer or autumn. We could define the masculitnity as between Brut by Faberge and Davidoff Cool Water. How to wear: Apply 2-3 spritzes on your chest, under your undershirt. Do not spray on neck. Rather than a flashing sign, let it be a mysterious invitation (remember, it breathes with you).

Out of the classic citrus fragrances such as this, YSL pour home, Eau sauvage etc. Armani eau pour homme came out as the best. With YSL, I found this a bit dated, sharp, strong and 70's smelling whilst I found Eau sauvage's citrus notes to die too quickly on my skin. However Armani eau pour home seemed to hit the right balance. I also am not disappointed by this 2013 reformulation and find it very similar to how I remember the original. Usually for me reformulations generally disappoint but this is still great. This seems to project better on me than the original did even though I cannot imagine that this is a better projecting fragrance than the 1984 original formulation for most people, may just be my skin chemistry. I still would liken this to a breeze of warm coastal Italian air that had blown through a citrus grove and mingled amongst cypress trees in the hills, the same comparison as I reviewed the original fragrance. This has a bit of noticeable but gentle spice in the background that is probably the nutmeg. The original had a similar spice but from memory came out more clove like to me and made it smell a bit too old for me at the time whilst I didn't detect this in this current reformulation. Unlike the original I received positive feedback with this version with one person saying it smelled gorgeous and expensive and someone else asking me if it was Acqua di Parma, which I've always liked also. I could imagine Gordon Gekko wearing this fragrance in the 80's or a stylishly dressed man in an Italian suit. Definitely best for summer but could hold it's own in early autumn/fall, I also like this for daywear but has a bit of complexity for a summer evening if you vary the sprays. Would make a good special occasion summer fragrance for someone looking for something a bit less generic. Maybe not suitable for under 25's, depending on personal taste, would recommend it as a must try.

As a big fan of Eau Sauvage, I never really considered buying this, but a while ago found a vintage mini in a thrift shop and was really delighted by how fresh the bergamot, 'green' lemon (as Thomaso7 below rightly puts it), neroli and orange...a truly happy opening. I love Eau Sauvage, but sometimes it feels a bit serious; this seemed just as brilliantly fresh and herbal, but a bit more uplifting (in a laid back kind of way) in the opening, which is really saying something. I find myself recalling it the next day with the usual poignant craving for a lost summer, but where Eau Sauvage is sort of sailboats and garden parties, this is more tennis courts and poolside reading, whatever than means... Today I tried the current version and was not disappointed... It still has a marvelous array of citrus notes, with a really balmy, sunny mandarin orange essence that lingers into the drydown. The notable hints of nutmeg and lily setting it apart a bit from Dior's composition. It is pretty light wearing (I find a sturdier vetiver base in the current Eau Sauvage), and seems to fade to a fairly low volume by hour 4 or 5, but that is somewhat the nature of the beast; it certainly still fits the bill of delivering an authentic eau de cologne vibe with a bit more legs than typical exemplars of that fabled genre usually provide. I would ideally have this right alongside Eau Sauvage for wearing in warm weather, as I'm starting to think a person can never have to many eaux, all somehow facets of that one, unattainable breeze from the Mediterranean lemon grove...

Classic gentleman scent. I tested it months ago in a local fragrance shop, and had it on my wishlist for the summer. Well, summer is upon us and I got a bottle. I'm mildly disappointed however. When I tested it a few months ago I could've sworn it was more lemony fresh than this. The bottle I have is much more cloves + nutmeg dominant, to the point where I'd described this as a spicy fragrance more so than a classic Italian citrus fragrance. I love the spicy kick it has, it makes it more interesting to me than Eau Sauvage, but the sharp lemon note is kind of mandatory in a fragrance like this and I'm just not getting it. It also automatically makes it smell much more suited to an older man without the freshness of the citrus. I will try layering the Dior and this and hopefully I get some sort of middle ground? I guess there's only way to find out. Edit: After spending more time with this fragrance, I think it smells divine now (sans the first 2-3 minutes of the opening) Having tried it extensively side by side + layered with Eau Sauvage which is more herbal/vegetal, I much prefer this on it's own. It's is way smoother, not as sharp and incredibly pleasant to the nose. You have to think of it as an EDC though (as you'd expect from this type of fragrarance) and be prepared to constantly reapply.

I'm 33 and I think this is one of the best old school citrus fragrances suitable for modern times since the blend of citrus, oakmoss and spices is perfectly balanced. I'd actually vote it above Dior's Eau Sauvage which is considered by many as the king in this genre. To my nose this smells "more natural" than Eau Sauvage. The oak moss is subdued here so it doesn't smell too dated but it's definitely present. Best times of application would be during Summer daytime but it could be rocked during summer nights too. The scent can be worn dressed up or down and would make a great office scent as well as a great vacation scent (i.e. great versatility). Projection is moderate and longevity is around 5-6 hours as long as you manage to get some on your clothing as well. A lot of reviews here say this is a scent for the 40+ crowd but I disagree. This can be rocked if you're 25+ (if you're a fan of this scent profile). I'm currently on my 2nd bottle which is the new formulation and it's very similar to the older formulation which was my 1st bottle. The last time I tried this was in 2012 and it was the previous formulation and I was very disappointed as I love the original 1984 version. I got a blast of lemon that seemed to fade after 30 min and was gone on my skin within the hour. Well fast forward to the present day and I became aware of the new formulation which came out in 2013 I believe. So taking a gamble as I always loved the original back in the Eighties I purchased this blind hoping for the best. Well after a few sprays I get the beautiful citrus burst interwoven with neroli and some light spice and moss. It lasts on my skin for about four hours with moderate projection and still hangs around for a few hours more but more close to my skin. I'm quite happy as the previous formulation only lasted a hour on my skin. It's more closer to what I remember the original to be though with less moss though the new one does seem to be brighter/fresher. It's still a light fragrance but the magic for me is back as the previous formulation just seemed to be way off and too short lasting. Happy days!

i have got dior eau sauvage, versace L'homme, pr pour homme, edition blanche, ck summer '15...and i thought i have had enough of lemon citrus bottles for summer, but when i smelled this out of the four eau collection, i was just mesmerized.its like you hear some beautiful piece of violin or jazz music and it makes your whole body feel loved....you close your eyes and just feel like you are in heaven...thats the kind of feel i got from this bottle.other bottles i have are my faves too, esp paco rabanne and eau sauvage, but this is something else.i dont care if the reformulation is weaker and lasts less, it has to be in my collection. and as far as old man's cologne.....im 35 and i always liked stuff that smelled manly, old spice and fahrenheit to say the least....we all have different choices, i respect everyone...but those people who say this frag is grandpa....you guys r just kids, someday you will grow up n appreciate what a real man should smell like. one of the legends n hall of fame frag for sure...respect armani house, what a masterpiece :)

what a shame i never wrote a review on one of my most go to summer scents. i have a certain history behind how i found this scent. i was visiting states when my uncle called me from india and asked me to get this bottle for him as he use to wear the old version and someone recently wearing this reminded him of his good old days. i had tested this before and found it generic for my use so i did not bother to buy a bottle for my use. however this juice smelled terrific on him during the high humid summers of india. i came back from india and started to crave for this scent and could not find a bottle in my local market. well after few attempts i finally found a 50ml bottle which i used religiously throughout summers and did not even bother to look at any of my other colognes. i used it so much that i started thinking of giving away all my other bottles lol.. thankfully winters started and i kept it at the back of the shelf and now im waiting for that scorching heat to hit back so i can wear my gem again

I think this fragrance is greatly underrated. Even in the "new" reformulation, this is a fantastic fougére / vetiver scent. It is extremely well-balanced with green citrus notes, florals, spices, woods and oakmoss...producing an overall very clean, fresh and energetic but masculine character. For me the smell is intoxicating, making me want to inhale deeply and savor the invigoratingly clean scent. The notes are very natural and well-blended, never giving the impression of synthetics. Interestingly, I bought this instead of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino after spraying a wrist with each and comparing. I was very surprised at how unexpectedly similar the two are at initial spray and during development, especially the aldehyde note...but I actually found the dry down of this fragrance to be more to my liking. This is one of my absolute favorite designer fragrances, and in my opinion the best from the house of Armani.

Return of the Freakin' Jedi!!!! I've been in longing for this for a long time! i used up too many bottles of the original Armani Eau Pour Homme, which was discontinued in many parts of Asia but reproduced in a "screwed up" version mostly in Europe and America, it lacked the magical ingredient which made what it is the "Oakmoss"; this newer version smelled like a distant gay cousin - what a loss! when i smelled this one (the re-"re"-imagined) i was immediately transported to my first experience with the original eau pour homme - i heard the folks have figured out a way to leave out the a part of the molecule in oakmoss that is banned by IFRA (the perfume regulating body) and include the rest - this is almost 90% there - i guess i'll take it - its light just like the orignal, so theres an after shave version as well! and you need to be a real man to strut this - so boys beware. 9/10.

Most people here comment about citrus, citrus, citrus and lemon. Often compared to Eau Sauvage, which is a citrus bomb. Armani Eau pour Homme however is dominated by Mandarin, Orange and Bergamot. This may also be a citrus Aromatic but is nothing like Eau Sauvage, which is far more acid than Armani. Armani is smoother. It has very little from 4711 and nothing from Azzaro or Aramis Tuscany like Simon26 claims. If I had to compare it it would be more like Chanel pour Monsieur but the scent is much better. Addictive. Unfortunately it has a moderate projection and longevity. Years ago I first tested this one in Portugal during Summer holidays. I loved it from the first spray but knew I could buy it for far cheaper on Internet back home. Every night before dinner I would enter the parfum store and spray my backhand for a full week. I bought it the day after I returned from Holidays.

This has held up remarkably well, considering it’s likely been reformulated a time or three since it hit the market. The citrus, aromatic herbs, and spices all working together to form the scent of a gentleman; it’s not ‘big’, nor does it leave much of a perfume trail, but for me, that’s part of its charm. Of the fragrances listed here that it’s reportedly similar to, I’d say Monsieur de Givenchy is probably the closest but MdG is much rosier, if that makes sense. Both have a truly lovely way of meshing with one’s skin and gently reminding you of their presence throughout the day - but I prefer the Armani by far. It’s just so....understated and refined. In terms of final thoughts: Why shout when you can make people lean in when you whisper? Welcome back into the fold, old friend.

I never did understand why I read a lot of reviews that refer to the opening as lemon. It isn't lemon. Nor is it your typical citrus. It is sour and citrus-like and is the most polarizing aspect of this fragrance. Depending on the weather, the opening can feel harsh but also refreshing and compelling. The dry-down is very different - smooth, clean, and warm in a disarming, friendly way. I would test this on skin before buying it a couple of times just to make sure the opening is to your liking so I do not recommend it as a blind buy. I used to own the original and without having them side by side, this feels very similar to it. Although I do feel like the original was more clearly lemony, probably slightly less polarizing and had better performance.

Really high quality Citrus up top and this is a top heavy fragrance. Not at all like other powerhouse fragrances. This shouldn't be classified as such. It's much more in the vein of Eau'd Hadrien, Cappucci, Acqua Di Parma, to my nose. However, there's spice underneath, but I'd still contend this is a citrus fragrance, light on the spice. Something about the hints of spice give this fragrance a class/style type feel that it seems Armani pulls off without equal. This is a Ferrari, a Lamborgini, just awesome Italian style and perfectly sleek. I know when I wear this, any occasion, I smell like a Ferrari looks. Honestly, this is the best Armani Fragrance, hands down, in my opinion, and one of the best all around summer go to's ever.

I love this scent, this is the kind of fragrances I more enjoy. Is a clean, citrus, herbal and woody scent. It has a classic style, but is very nice and very male. Since its output, it smell as a very natural lemon with herbal spices, in a very mediterranean style, in its medium phase grows up the smell of flowers with a prominent nutmeg and cloves. Is similar in style to Eau Sauvage of Dior, Acqua di Parma Essenza and Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme, fragrances that I love too. I think this fragrance it will be a must have always in my closet, because in my opinion this is the scent for a man. Better in summer o warm weather, but in general is very versatile.

I love this scent. It's a rare citrus that's fine for all seasons. The nutmeg and clove notes really help it achieve year-round versatility. It's suit-and-tie, not casual. My only complaint is I wish Armani would step it up and make it as an Eau De Parfum instead of a toilette. Sure the toilette projects better, but the longevity is awful, and when considering the price for a bottle, it really should be an EDP. It's Armani's signature male fragrance, so you'd figure they'd step it up to make it more high-end instead of producing it as the weakest cheapest form of fragrance possible in a toilette.

Armani Eau Pour Homme gets my approval. I've never smelled the original juice so I'm reviewing this on its own. At first I didn't like the herbal basil blast in the opening but it settles down quickly. The citrus in the opening is nice. It's been a while since I've tried Eau Sauvage but I remember that one being more timeless and something any age group could pull off. Armani feels more of a mature/classic type. Seems like something that can be worn year round. I get pretty good performance with about 5 sprays, lasts 6-8 hours with a little lingering on clothes after that.

Giorgio Armani original formula was one of the greatest men's fragrances ever created. It had wonderful bergamot, spices, citrus that enveloped the wearer in this magnificent fragrance. It was classy for work or play. I wore it for years until they changed the formula and it wasn't the same, it had lost something (probably due to IFRA banning some of the ingredients used). I sampled the latest version and it is extremely close to the original. I would put it right back on its pedestal as one of the all time greats again. Thank you Mr Armani for getting it right this time.

This reformulation is basically an EDC version of the original, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in this age of amberwood bombs. I've loved this from first sniff as a child. It is still one of the best citrus aromatic compositions of all time; refreshing and energising at the top, with an elegant masculine mossy woods in the dry down. The dry down is understated (or weak depending on your perspective) but persistent, lasting an entire work day on my clothes. Those seeking a bigger punch in the dry down might have to hunt down a vintage or look elsewhere.

While this and Eau Sauvage are quite similar - the much stronger, leafier basil and prominent clove in this really distinguish the two, making this a more rounded scent in the opening and mid. They resemble each other the most once they are skin scents. Overall this is distinctly a greener, darker and creamier/spicer scent thanks to the clove and nutmeg. Eau Sauvage is much more of a straight up citrus-aromatic than this one is. Ironically, as this one has its own Nuit flanker, this itself would make a fine Nuit flanker to Eau Sauvage.

An old but timeless citrus aromatic fragrance, that will fit perfectly 40+ men. While most of its contemporaneous fragrances are now available at discounter prices, this one surprisingly still retails for ~$80 (but that is apparently a price policy valid for all Armani fragrances, with AdG that still retails for ~$60, without any valid reason other than marketing). Would go for a full bottle, but this price tag may be a little steep for just occasional use. Will wait a bit that prices go down. Spring/Fall days, 40+

This is my first classic barbershop style fragrance. Wow, I'm amazed by my discovery. It reminded me of ADP essenza which I also love. I hate its opening as there is something harsh and synthetic citruses, after it settles down it turns into a soapy scent with moderate projection in the first few hours. I think it's best to be worn in casual, summer holiday, white t-shirt wearing sunglasses. Although, I find it very versatile. I believe that men with any age can rock this.

Classic aromatic citrus fragrance, in the same ball park as : Dior Eau Sauvage. Quintessential gentlemen's scent : aromatic, crispy fresh with a hint of spiciness in the back. This new version is a little lighter than the first OG bottles, this has probably been reformulated because of IFRA regulations (oakmoss), but it does the originals DNA justice and its definitely a keeper for me. Must have if you like a classic, masculin, signature scent.

This is such an awesome fragrance! It smells like Tuscany by Aramis but calmer and more modern. Reminds me of my dad. Just a fresh, citrusy, Mediterranean fragrance. I can strongly smell it on me for 3 hours, but it last for at least 6-8 closely on my skin. Projection is also good, I've gotten compliments on this. Overall, it's a surprising winner from Armani whom I'm generally not a fan of...definitely getting myself a bottle.

This is the best citrus fragrance ever formulated in the history of the fragrance industry. Citrusy, fresh, elegant,masculine, sporty, sexy. I have tried other citrusy fresh fragrances such as allure homme sport, dior homme sport, allure edition blanche, dior homme cologne, eau savage, versace pour homme, tom ford neroli portofino but always return to armani eau pour homme. Armani please make the aftershave balm again.

This is fucking GREAT Very underrated My 2nd favourite for summer/office days. Opening is a nice citrus, but it fades very quickly To a subtle and smooth fragrant forest; fresh spices and gentle wood Seriously good shit. Doesn't last very long though. Moisturise the area and apply to clothes :) My girlfriend doesn't like it, so it's potentially not sexy enough to wear on dates

Classic, allround And timeless! It is a nice, sharp and elegant scent! I do get a lot of compliments when I’m wearing this! Especially in summer, on hot days this one does a good job. It does not hold that long but just take a travelcase with you! You should have a bottle of this on your shelve, to wear, layer, create! Scent: 8/10 Originality: 6/10 Sillage: 7/10 Bottle: 7/10

2020.09 batch Wow! Just wow! This is what I call a perfect spring/summer fragrance! Pure elegance, pure Italian style. Great longevity, still a skin scent after 12h if you stick the nose on your skin. Not to much projection but is lingering around you even after 5h. Dressed up with a white shirt and a linen jacket, this make you feel like a billionaire.

A timeless classic, this is a very modern scent for 1984, so pleasant and gentle, and on the other hand so masculine and macho. After the initial slightly sharp citrus start, it comes a smooth and soft soapy base that is one of the most beautiful I have experienced. Simply put a perfume legend and still with us after so many years for a reason.

It’s becoming a little dated yes but it’s still my favourite scent of all time. Opens with a strong bitter citrus and mellows down to a fresh soapy scent. The reformulation isn’t as good as the one with the black base but it’s still a wonderful clean, crisp, citrusy masterpiece....like Azzaro Pour homme but better

Il n'y a pas grand chose à dire de Armani pour homme: Elle est la nouvelle version de l'eau des années 80; elle est très classique et donc à porter en toute circonstance ; elle fait l'unanimité auprès de l'entourage et quelque soit l'environnement. En définitive, c'est une eau plutôt convenue toujours convenable.

I love it. Maybe my new signature scent. Not for teenagers but a great choice for anyone over 30. The scent is manly and addictive, the most beautiful barbershop smell with a modern twist. Longevity issues are present. Can't detect it after 3-4 hours. Maybe others can. Time will show.

Its similar to dior eau Sauvage, really pleasant and uplifting, its edt so to not expect much of a performance, it has a good Sillage but not a good longevity which is ok as an Edt. Scent DNA is very nice. I'm getting fresh bergamot, basil and okmoss plus vetiver out of it.

This is a great lemon cologne it goes to show Armani has been about the fresh accords since day one. It doesn’t have any of the 80s urinal cake smell or really any dated notes typical of 80s masculine frags. Maybe subtly reminiscent of a citrusy deodorant but not overly so

So this has since been removed from the Armani website......it's almost certainly becoming discontinued. Another quality scent gone. PS: It's been taken off the US and UK website but not the international one so it's likely to be DD in those two markets

How is it possible that they have taken the decision to discontinue this excellent perfume, a symbol of the brand itself? These boys and girls in the marketing departments are destroying icons that accompany generations. Shame on you, Armani!

Less joy, more serious than Eau Sauvage, classic masculine summer cologne, smells like a middle aged elegant Italian man, refined. Performance is very bad tho. I would grab a bottle for this summer if performance was (far) better ...

I really like this but wished it lasted a bit longer. I get only 4 pushing 5 hours with this one. It also becomes a skin scent rather quickly as well. Funny I said I really liked this but keep pointing out the negatives... 3.5/5

What a bergamot splash in the opening. It develops nicely - oakmoss and mandarin orange spiced up by a little bit of cloves, basil ans nutmeg. This is a proper fougere. Ultra masculine, mature, fresh, clean, spicy, sexy. 8/10

guys i have the older version and need to know the similarities or differences with this one, if it worths the purchase. Can you please through some light? Shall i buy it as it is more updated etc or it doesnt't worth it?

It's manly and i don't think guys below fourty will suits to the scent. The initial opening is so good classy citrus and then you know.. Respray after two hour or one and a half hour.

I tested this. Really I miss this scent. Green and orange complicated:) Maybe won't legend but its a beautiful and I will buy as soon as possible.

Kind of wish i liked eau sauvage more because i like its bottle better. But alas, this one is less sweet and better balanced to my nose.
