Cuir Nu

Opens with a strong and jammy oriental rose, akin to rose water. It is reminiscent of another Armani Prive fan favorite, Rose d' Arabie. Then the coffee note slowly gives it a bold, earthy, and roasted nut like aroma, right after the rose open. The coffee is a perfect complement to the rose, not at all overtaking it or dominating the scent. The combination of the rose and coffee, almost gives it a gourmand vibe. The mid begins to get more earthy and dark, while at the same time more sweet, but a different sweet from the rose, more of the tonka bean variety. The earthiness continues to the dry-down, and I have a hunch that the sweetness and earthiness is from patchouli (not listed in the notes). In the drydown, you are left with a sweet and faint tonka, and patchouli like vibe, and... oud! Yup! The final reveal of this incredible composition, is that this was a rose oud perfume all along! This is a beautiful, luxurious, oriental fragrance, designed perfectly for the modern western market. I feel like if there was a line of Armani Prive, solely focused on oud, this would serve as a strong flanker. There is a big similarity with Cuir Nu and Rose d' Arabie in the open (not the exact same), Cuir Nu is more complex in the open, and the similarities become more distant as they dry down. Where Rose d' Arabie dries down to a musky, vanillic, sandalwood at the dry-down, Cuir Nu goes down a sweet tonka bean route with a very obvious oud. Not animalic at all; I don't even know why Fragrantica has listed that as an accord. No popcorn, but there is a smell of freshly roasted coffee in the mid, which may be what people are calling "popcorn". Zero leather, like not even a little bit. No suede, no leathery notes, nothing!

Cuir Nu (2025) first impressions notes. (Imagery: you go to a large department store in Europe such as harrods London wearing a suede leather jacket and wool scarf . Then you sample some rose containing middle Eastern style niche fragrances that linger on your clothes. Then you sit in a coffee shop in the department store and order a cup of coffee and a berry topped patisserie item with buscuits...) Notes: - Opens up with sweet rose (from Rose D'arabie) and baked biscuits. It quickly darkens up from the roasted coffee. The gourmand buscuits transfom into more of a berry topped patisserie item . - Rose is very noticeable in the first hour then it starts dying down. Smooth non sharp suede leather joins in. The sweet berry gourmand vibe remains in the background for a while . There is a general ambery/balsamic feel in the background. Making the Fragrance overall smooth . - The coffee note fluctuates throughout and keeps taking a peek every now and then for many hours after application. It's more noticeable when smelled upclose. It comes and goes . - Within 2 to 3 hours the fragrance smells like a smooth suede with some coffee and a general ambery background. No rose . - The late drydown consists of a smooth tonka with some Musks. - It performs strongly in the first hour. It then becomes overall moderate and smooth . I was able to detect traces of it on my arm the next morning. - any similarities to ombre nomade are no more than 20%. They are significantly different. - no popcorn whatsoever. - very impressive so far .

At first spray this smelled quite nice but vaguely familiar, like it had a couple of reminiscent characteristics while still being it's own thing. Initially it does open up like a darker leather fragrance, not a dark leather, but moreso a softer leather- suede like- that has a dark mysterious character, probably coming from the coffee. That however doesn't last very long and is it dries and settles down you get a lot more of that sweet rose that uplifts the fragrance a little and the coffee mostly dissipates. It's the same kind of rose you'd fine in Rose d'Arabie, not surprising. Now as it's dried down it smells almost to me like a flanker of Rose d'Arabie, but instead of a strong dosage of earthy patchouli you get this somewhat dark style of leather. Throughout all of this, the fragrance maintains a subtle level of sweetness that manages to make it quite pleasant and not at all polarizing, in my opinion at least. I found the comparison to Ombre Nomad a bit strange at first, I didn't associate this fragrance with it at all. But now that I have that in my head and I smell the fragrance it does remind me a little of It, the leather accords do share some similarities, which might put it in a somewhat similar vain, but this lacks a lot of the OM characteristics. They're ultimately not that similar. This is still much closer to Rose d'Arabie

Underrated gem - my fav fragrance OAT, it's so good I made an account to write a review. Silky rose similar to MFK's rose, suede leather, cardamom warm spice paired with roasted coffee, and a sweet almost gourmand-like vanilla/tonka bean/ambery undertone. Lasts very long, easily 10 hours and performance is strong, not nuclear, but definetely strong. I'd say its quite appealing generally, very unique and MASTERFULLY blended.

This stuff is incredible. It starts out a bit confusing because right away you get that rose note that so closely resembles Rose D'Arabe, another star fragrance from this line. Once this fragrance starts to get away from the top note, you start getting this fantastic dark roasted coffee note wrapped with leather - phenomenal. Longevity and projection on my skin is very good - easily 8+ hours.

This is amazing, this is what Bruce Wayne would wear. Words that come to mind when I smell this is Money, Elegance, Dark, Seductive and Power. Scent wise it's in the same ballpark as Nishane Nefs but with a coffee twist. And i understand people saying "it's been done before, nothing new" , but this is done to perfection, best of what it is.

@manon_crts What do you mean Ombre Nomade copycat? Armani realesed Rose d'arabie year 2010 before LV fragrences existed! Armani is a trendsetter brand when it comes to fragrences! Armani is king, RIP Giorgio!

Dark and brooding but still approchable. I mostly get warm, toasty oud with some creamy leather and jammy rose in the background. Incredible performance.

This started out feeling surprisingly familiar. My first thought was Rose d'Arabie. Right from the opening, I got coffee and cardamom, but the real star was the same rich, jammy rose. Sweet, slightly honeyed, and this time wrapped in a soft suede accord. For the first half hour, I thought I knew exactly where this fragrance was going. Then it took a turn. The comparison to Rose d'Arabie gradually disappeared, and Cuir Nu started revealing something much more unusual. In fact, I wouldn't even recommend this to leather lovers. I'm not entirely sure I'd call it a leather fragrance at all. The name and note breakdown make it look like another Middle Eastern-inspired rose-and-leather composition, a category that already has countless entries. I fell for that expectation myself. Once I stopped looking for leather, I started appreciating what was actually there. The sweet, jammy rose never leaves and remains the centerpiece from start to finish. Around it, a subtle gourmand character develops. The coffee lingers close to the skin, joined by a nutty facet, a touch of saltiness, and something slightly oily. The comparison to popcorn that some people make isn’t as strange as it sounds. As it dries down, everything settles into a warm amber accord bordering on soft oud, with the rose still leading and the suede quietly supporting from the background. Don’t come expecting a leather fragrance or a coffee fragrance. Let go of those expectations, and you’ll find a surprisingly elegant, complex, and easygoing scent.

Cuir Nu is a perfect example of how note breakdowns are nothing more than marketing: coffee? cardamom? Not so much - this is Armani wanting a taste of the Ombre Nomade effect, hoping for a blow up in sales. And yet, zero marketing? I had no idea this even existed until a sales assistant in Harrods randomly gave me 2 samples of it last week. As I said, the building blocks of Ombre Nomade are here, the DNA is instantly recognisable. Whilst this makes it completely lacking in originality, I actually think I prefer it (which isn’t a tall achievement as I’ve grown to despise ON). That cheap rose is far less screechy, none of that horrid sickly raspberry, lending an overall smoother, warmer scent with a bit more subtlety and a gentle roasted coffee lingering in the background. It’s a nice scent actually, nothing groundbreaking or technically impressive, I don’t love it, but it smells nice and I’ll likely enjoy wearing my sample. If you found Ombre Nomade too screechy and obnoxious but you wanted to like it, this might work for you.

Derivative, uninspiring, and forgettable addition to an otherwise solid line from Armani. Seems like a missed opportunity as coffee accord isn’t seen much and is fantastic when used correctly but it’s overwhelmed by a blaring sweetness here

First impression I wasn’t impressed, will wear the entire sample and give it another chance

It’s been 13 hours since I first sprayed Cuir Nu and it’s still going strong but I haven’t enjoyed it. It’s bold, leans masculine and is a loud, synthetic blast of metallic and chemical style leather on a base of malty biscuits and with the rose from Rose D’Arabie. This isn’t in the usual impeccably premium Armani Prive style, as Cuir Nu has screechy edges, almost like it needs to macerate. There’s a chemical oud note and a metallic saffron which you usually find in budget Arabian fragrances and I can’t stand it. It’s like Rose D’Arabie has been doused in gasoline. I kinda see the comparisons to Ombre Nomad but only its dry, silver mercury, sharp suede style. The coffee here is more of a muddy gun powder type of black soot style. It’s eternal and I’ve disliked every moment of this gasoline fumes with rose jam, broken digestive biscuits with discarded coffee filters, gun-powdered roses covered in bandaids. Update: 24 hours later as it’s still on my skin. Time to wash this beast away. Otherworldly longevity.

Where is the Leather??? Where is the Coffee??? I detect neither unfortunately. Just tested this out. I don’t like it at all. Weird fragrance this one. While I see why people are referencing Louie Vuitton’s Hombre Nomad, it is similar but in an indirect way. The notes are totally different yet somehow in unison they collectively produce a similar sent profile. This is a feminine release, I don’t see any man feeling comfortable wearing this one. It has the same sweetness that Armani’s Cuir Noir has yet smells different. The baked cookie note is odd and to me can seem very synthetic. I predominantly get a hyper sweet candied rose that overpowers all of the other notes except for the baked cookie note. Please bring back Myrrh Imperial.

Opening has a nice silkiness with the rose and leather almost evocative of oud like some have said. It reminds me of the “feel” of oud satin mood a bit with that scent that almost feels like silk or something very smooth, although this doesn’t make me nauseous like the MFK. The dry down turns into this nice toasty, almost buttery popcorn smell. Pretty unique in my opinion, not sure if I get much coffee, but it’s nice.

Popcorn and coffee to my nose, but cute and wearable. It's an Ombre nomade copycat, yet suitable for spring and hot months.
