Encens Satin

This is fantastic. I fully agree with others that calls this one the "Best Of" from Armani Prive's oriental collection. This is an extremely wearable incense but still manages to be rich and captivating. I cannot love this enough! The woody note in Encens Satin is similar to that of Santal 33 and is deliciously woody in a savoury way. Obviously it also shares the same incense note as Bois d'Encens. However Encens Satin isn't as pungent and -- dare I say this even though I love it-- intrusive as Santal 33, nor is it as dry and smouldering as Bois d'Encens. Call me conservative, but I really think Encens Satin is a great alternative to those that enjoy strong orientals but cannot wear them. This gives just enough edge as an oriental but is still smooth and wholesome, just like aged wine. The spices, amber, incense are blended so well that even though I cannot depict each note separately I certainly know that this perfume will be less wonderful even if it's just "a little bit less spicy", "a little bit less ambery" etc. It's that great. The projection is about 2 feet and longevity easily 8 hours. I find it helpful to not spray too much or too close to my nose or else I go anosmic on this one. Definitely worth its hefty price tag, but even so if you look carefully you can certainly find cheaper prices online. Bravo Armani!

This juice is starting to grow on me...I have to be conservative and don't spray it on my skin a lot. After the fragrance settles, it has a warm/spicy/smokey vib. The smokey aroma at first has a dry and balsamic vib, after it settles it's much more appealing it's not harsh and has a real woodsy-spicy-oriental vib. Apparently Mr. Armani created this fragrance in memory of his mother growing up. As he recalls his childhood he wanted to create the aroma when he to church with his mother..the aroma of incense burning. He definitely created a real smokey/incense vib using spices and woodsy notes. There must be some frankincense to create this very deep aroma. Longevity is long lasting well over 10hrs, silage is moderate..you could smell this juice about 2ft away. Final thoughts, This fragrance is definitely a high quality. I spray it sparingly not more than once..you can definitely smell this juice. A strong/ masculine aroma..no doubt that real ingredients were used without synthetic materials...9.5/10. This fragrance isn't your typical fragrance so make sure you try it before buying incase it is strong.

Wrote this review ages ago and have only just got around to posting it...I think that says it all really. Was I blown away? Not really, because this is more reminiscent of Full incense/Avignon/Cardinal etc... with a bright, sparkling white frankincense note. Don't get me wrong here I adore the smell, it's a wonderful thing It is like the scents I mentioned above but just different enough to be unique, deeper well rooted and less floaty. I certainly wouldn't describe this as amber and spices though, a complex church incense fragrance is more appropriate. It has that fresh uplifting thing but with a heavier wooden base which gives it good lasting power. The opening to gives a stronger sense of woods and resins, perhaps not 'amber' (which I associate as being a warming benzoin/vanilla) but a something sharper. So yet again Armani's prive range has taken a traditional perfume in a slightly different direction and come out with something which is mildly derivative and by no means 'new' but still more than worth having.

When I first tried Armani Prive Encens Satin I thought it was the most seductively authentic frankincense fragrance I had ever smelled. Lately, I have been on a quest to find some quality incense fragrances. I did not want something that was too smokey like a bonfire or a bbq. I wanted it to have the catholic church smell essence, but still be a wearable scent. Encens Satin has that perfect smoky frankincense note that I was looking for with a balmy resinous feel too. It’s sweetened up with amber and a dash of spices like patchouli, cardamom, ginger, and elemi – which really should be listed. There is also a distinct woody cedar note in the dry down that makes this fragrance smell smooth yet bold at the same time. Encens Satin is gorgeous, I love it and I am so glad I was able to add it to my collection since this will be amazing during the winter months!

The line already has an Incense one called "Bois D'Insense" which is now 10 years old. I love it for its authentic an ecclesial nature. Given incense scents are still massively popular, the marketing team probably thought it was time for an update. Sampled it today and I can honestly say it is rather beautiful. It is somewhat sweeter and softer and most certainly more feminine than "Bois D'Incense". I guess the older version was too masculine and is now dropping in sales, so they launch a new revised version. Very good indeed. If only the sillage and longevity was better. I still believe that Amouage does Incense best. Hands down. 8/10. Very good for a female or someone who wants to explore incense for the first time. Good "starter pack" (but perhaps too safe, soft and smooth for an incense aficionado)

Çok gerçekçi bir tütsü ile açılıyor. Amber pek hissedilmiyor, odunsu yanı baskın. Biraz teçinemsi bir havası var. Oldukça yoğun ve bu nedenle denemeden almamak lazım. Serin havalarda rahatsız etmeyecektir ama kapalı ortamlar ve sıcak havada insani bunaltabilir. Koku bir yönü ile Amouage Interlude yi anımsatıyor. Onun kadar reçinemsi ve yoğun değil ama andırıyor. Tütsü baskın olduğunda ben çok sevemiyorum. Ancak kullandigim zaman etrafımın beğendiğini fark ettim. Ancak 3/2 oranında Xerjoff Naxos ile birlikte kullandığımda ortaya oldukça etkileyici bir cıktı. Her ikisi de bağıran parfümler olduğu için etrafı hemen işgal ettiler. Ama tutun ve biraz sekerimsi hava ile daha güzel olabilir. Bu fiyat düzeyi daha iyi alternatifleri bulmak mümkün.

Overall: 9.5/10 Here's Why: Like incense themselves, this lingers. Sweet smokiness hovering around me like smoke - 10 or so hours. What a lovely fragrance. No dirty at all, its quite refined. Brilliant white Frankincense hovering boldly with resiny sap, with just a sweet splash of vanilla. Intoxicating. Can;t wait to spray more. People ask me what it is, they wonder where i got it. This fragrance tells a story, sexy - timid but intense. Balmy and wonderfully understated, this is a beautiful fragrance to mix (TF Patchouli Absolue or Creed Royal Oud) or on its own for an all over head to toes spray. Wonderful.

This fragrance is just so so good. It's balanced, smouldering sexy, warm, great spice. There is even something buttery about it. It's such a great scent. I would wear this on a first date, but just a single sprits. I can't believe this isn't more popular, I also can't believe this (might) be discontinued. If so, what a sin! The presentation is pretty good. I like the dark bottle. Some of Armani's Prive fragrances are a bit of a miss for me, but this is the best in the collection by far. This might be in my top three fragrances. If you don't mind forking out for a bottle, I highly recommend.

I don't get any resemblance to comme des garçons incense Avignon. It's got the incense smell, for sure, and I feel like that's where the similarities end. Balmy and woody. I feel like the amber is a pretty strong player in the mix. Straight off the bat I'm getting hits of myrre, which is weird, because it's a note that hasn't been listed. Anyway, I'm no perfume expert. I'll just get down to the bones of it. Warm and comforting, slightly sweet at times, and definatly woody. Personally though, I don't think it's worth the money. But it's a beautiful scent.

This is classy sophisticated and high end smelling fragrance. It opens up with smooth labdanum amber and then seems to alternate between a very well done (not head shop) incense, the amber and then the two join and become something new altogether. This would make a good date night choice, it’s classy and mature but not cold or austere. It projects and performs pretty well also. If it’s been discontinued that’s a shame it’s well worth having.

Encens Satin is a hidden gem went under the radar from the Prive line, it is highly overlooked & a lot of people didn't even heard of it. This is by far the best Encens fragrance I have ever smelled in my life. it is very smooth, cozy, & buttery. Basically it envelopes you in that encens bubble you don't want to get out of it & keeps radiating in a very beautiful way. The performance is excellent especially in the winter season.

Looking at the "This perfume reminds me of" section, one might be confused to see heavy incense, labdanum-based amber, and even iris fragrances...Well, this is all of the above! It still remains one of their best offerings & one of my favorites—Not to be missed! *It appears to be discontinued with some leftover stock in certain stores 😞

My favourite from the Prive line. Incense, spice, amber and vanilla. It's so classy and sophisticated. Unisex, leaning a bit more to the masculine side. Longevity is very good, and the projection is just perfect for this type of scent. For me, this is a 10/10

After comparing with Bois d'Encens side by side, I have to say they're NOT similar (That's like saying all incense are similar). This is a very ambery (warm) incense while the other is pine-y smokey like CdG Avignon.

Armani Prive's Encens Satin is a pleasant incense mixed with spices and amber. The amber renders the blend much sweeter and smoother than most incense-dominant fragrances but it's still pleasant, neither too sharply incense-ridden nor cloyingly sweet. Much like Cuir Noir softened the blunt force of the leather via vanilla, so does Encs Satin soften the incense via amber. This is surely a crowd-pleaser among the incense-loving crowd, of which I'm not a part, but I certainly appreciate the blend here, as there is enough care to achieve the happy balance described above. Decent projection and longevity but still subject the same high Armani Prive pricing, this might prove worthwhile for particularly big fans of incense, but it's not something I'll buy. 7 out of 10

I agree that this is one of the best incense frags out there. Maybe even 2nd place (First being Embers of course, please try it if you love incense and spice). This is super smooth, just a touch of sweetness, warm spicy labdanum. Very sensual and even a little oriental, like the incense you can smell inside a Buddhist temple. Bois Encens is a little more evangelical, smells woodsy and churchy, with the soapy myrrh and frankincense you typically smell in European cathedrals. Also a touch more spicy and masculine than Satin, both gorgeous. I have 2 samples of both available to swap (and other incenses like Embers) - Uk. Looking for the Ambers / Balsamics of this line in exchange.

It's a mix of Bois D'Encens and Amber Absolute. A great rich dense composition, winter night time is the perfect time for this. Imagine a fine crystalized amber, photo-realistic, accompanied with smooth incense. I would take this over AA. It's just so much more nuanced, the incense is more prominent.

A sweeter rendition of D&G’s velvet incenso. Good but not the best in its genre

Much more ambery and less woody also more feminine than Bois D'Encens this is a good amber incense perfume but somehow dull and uninspiring. Incense, amber, spices (no black pepper here), cedar (way much less than Bois) and I detect lots of benzoin which makes this perfume turn sweet in the drydown. Actually, it seems like a friendlier more comforting Bois D'Encens without the mystery and angular nature of that perfume. Frankly, there was an enigmatic, almost cryptic, feel in the dry, unsettling structure of Bois D'Encens which is completely absent here. To me it is trivial to own this but if you are a woman or found the latter too discomforting check this one out. For me, the die is cast.

There's no doubt that this is well blended and smooth, but the result - to me - is a bit forgettable. I wish it weren't because I'm a fan of both incense fragrances and the Armani Prive line (mostly). As a man in his mid 40s, I was hoping for something with a bit more of a unique personality, especially for the price. With so many great incense fragrances out there (or also discontinued) like Avignon, TF Vert D'Encens, Incense Wood by Rosendo Mateu (WOW!), or even Bois d'Encens also by Armani Prive, it's hard for me to justify buying it. Of course, that's just me and with so many other positive reviews, I'll admit to being in the small minority of people who think it's just OK.

Hello there.i just bought s full bottle am very disapointed.i love love frankincense and i love it strong.i didnt think i was buying amber which doesnt like me.im selling a brand new bottle with the cellophane intact.please pm me if your interested.i think the word satin mislead me.i wanted a smooth frankincense but this is not me.

TL;DR: an alternative view, from an incense fanatic. This is a barely-there incense, perhaps intended for people who think they should have an incense, but aren't really that into it, and who are willing to spend big to have those needs met. Pleasant, mild, gentle, dainty, well-behaved, well-blended incense, which is very quiet for its price tag. There are other much better, much cheaper, more incense-y options. ====== I'm baffled by the extravagant reviews here - not because this is a bad scent, but because it's a gentle, barely-there, mainstream scent, which Fragranticans think has mediocre performance and is overpriced. But the written reviews are extravagant. For example, for a wanna-be niche, 50% of users think its longevity is very weak, weak or moderate; 52% think its sillage is intimate or moderate; and about 60% think it's way overpriced/overpriced. £270? Ho ho ho indeed. You're playing with the big boys at that price. These are Fragranticans' votes about performance and price, not my opinions. (Though I agree. It is weak and overpriced.) For reference, Majd al Sultan is £18, incense heavy, but only 25% think its longevity to be anything less than long lasting, whilst 60% of Fragranticans think it has strong or enormous sillage. There's nothing wrong with it. It's super-delicate, it's not going to offend anyone (they'll barely smell it), and I can see it working for someone who's been told they should try an incense scent on their "journey," but they know in their heart of hearts that they don't really like it. In terms of reference incenses (I mean Avignon, Kyoto, Cardinal, Morabito Sultan Noir, l'Orpheline, Majd Al Sultan, Interlude Man, or even Gucci Pour Homme 1/Bentley Absolute, or the dry-down of Habit Rouge Edt), you would barely know this was an incense at all. Maybe this is aimed at a specific market? One of the reviewers below, Cherry_Darling typically reviews three scents every day, so she's clearly not living with them. Other reviews are brief to the point of meaningless. (And some, like this one, are probably over-long and patronising.) I think that price plays a role here: if this were to be priced at £11 (like the Morabito), or £20 like Majd Al Sultan or Bentley Abs, then it would a) smell more, and b) mean less at the golf club/regional sales conference big-dick-a-thon. As Brian Buchanan said on his review of this scent on Basenotes, "With that heavy black bottle and pebble cap, Armani Privé seems to be aimed at the international rich, who idle away their time between connections with a little Duty Free, which could be anywhere between Dallas, Dubai and Düsseldorf." Plogic about three below this one is right. It's smooth, but nothing-y. That is, precisely, it. Seriously, if you're genuinely interested in incense, you could have Morabito Sultan Noir AND Majd Al Sultan delivered to your door for £30. And if you're worried you might piss yourself because they're too strong, get Avignon for £70. (Even relatively weak Etro Messe de Minuit is stronger, and much cheaper, than Encens Satin.)

Now that it’s colder here in Texas, this one is starting to make more sense to me and I’ve been reaching for it more. I purchased it in summer and noticed right away it really suffers from humid heat, turns very sweet. However in dry cool weather it’s a stunner, almost has a cola-fizz or chinotto like vibe that sparkles, and an un-burned incense stick smell, something makes it have a fresh laundry vibe faintly..I read this was a tribute to how his mother smelled, that makes a lot of sense, I picture this being how an Italian mother wearing a freshly laundered and clothesline-dried dress smells after coming home from mass when you hug her. Very comforting, clean and nostalgic aroma

I think Marciu hit the nail on the head when describing this as 'like a mix of Bois d'Encens, Ambre Soie and Ambre Orient'. It's a bit like a 'best of' from the Armani Prive line. Having said that, I think its more about the amber and less about the incense. To me this is quite linear and the spicy amber is front and centre throughout its lifetime; which on me is about 6 hours before it becomes a skin scent. The incense is present too, but it's much more in the background than up front and centre like it is in Bois d'Encens. I also find this a bit easier to wear than Bois d'Encens and its become my go to fragrance when I'm in the mood for an incense hit.

This is another solid creation in Armani Prive collection. While the idea is not new the execution and quality of ingredients is good. On my skin it develops to an incense-amber scent that is warm and arid. It is well composed and feels balanced. I like this family of scents and within this family Encens Satin is among the top ones for me. It is stylish and I would say somewhat mature. The longevity is good and projection is moderate.

Effervescent incense, a sparkling top note, comforting lush feeling amber differing from such gooey and sticky ambers like TF AA, and not dough-like either. The wood note doesn't come across as lumber or pine, instead I get an oily wood note. Overall a very comforting and high-class smelling incense.

@lovescully - I described it that way because I feel elements from all three - sweet vanilla and some other spices from Ambre Orient and amber from Ambre Soie. It's the mix of those three and I can't help it. To me best three from Armani Prive line are Bois d'Encens, Oud Royal and Myrrhe Imperiale.

@ Marciu, when I said that you hit the nail on the head, I was absolutely agreeing with you :o). I guess it's an Australian own saying. It is most definitely a mix of those 3 you mentioned.

To me this smells like a mix of Bois d'Encens, Ambre Soie and Ambre Orient. Most prominent to my nose are labdanum, spices, amber and vanilla. Nice but nothing new... Will update soon.

Sweet incense that is very much on the mature feminine side. Feels high quality, but not for me.
