Iris Bleu

This is - without exaggeration - the BEST iris fragrance I've smelled to date (with an asterisk*). Iris is my favorite note in perfumery, and I'm constantly on the hunt for new takes on iris. To me most iris fragrances fall into two broad categories: Light and airy iris ( I.E. Prada L'Homme EDT, Valentino Uomo 2021 EDT, and Armani Code Parfum). OR dark and heavy iris ( I.E. Dior Homme Intense, Le Male Le Parfum, and Armani Cuir Zerzura). This fragrance sits on the throne of light and airy iris fragrances. It's got character, cleanliness that's more than just white florals, subtle sweetness that's neither industrial nor found in nature. It's mature but not old, it's playful without being childish, it's radiates positivity and carefreeness without hinting at naiveness. Projection and longevity are pretty good, nothing super special - though I don't really care for them when the scent is THIS GOOD.

It feels like seeing one of Peder Severin Krøyer's blue hour paintings. It's soft, peaceful, blue, iris led fragrance, with cypress and musk to give it character in the back. It perfectly captures the blue hour of the mediterranean sea since it's so peaceful and calming. I would not wear it in heat, it's more for temperate weather. It’s as good as Thé Yulong to me. I do get the positive comparison with rich grandmas scent from @raiza1990. It's the first thing which came to my mind too when i first smelled it. It's a scent for people with experience in life, who know and like to refer to the moments worth living.

I am fighting the urge to buy this so bad... this fragrance is an Iris lover's dream. Wet, vegetal, green, stemmy iris mixed with bitter galbanum. As it very often does to my nose, galbanum gives a subtle cigarette smoke effect, which I absolutely adore. Indolic jasmine is also there. This fragrance is an epitome of class, and it really is for grown ups. If I smelled this 10 years ago, I'd hate it. EDIT: I cave in and bought it. So good! It's only $145 for 50 mls, and you can get 15% off if you sign up for emails. I thought this was very affordable for a Prive line!

Love at first sniff... This ethereal and divine blend instantly made me a fan. It doesn’t last long, neither does it project or leave much of a trail... but it’s a gorgeous skin scent. To me, it’s like a more refined and classier version of Tilia ... The lemon and musk here are so dreamy... absolutely enchanted by this one. - Bhavna Darira

This is an elegant, contemporary and somehow urban scent of musky iris with a touch of jasmine and wood. I also smell a sugary note. Very early 2000s but make it delicate.

This is not for everyone but I love it Chinese jasmine is unusual but I am in love with this because of the Chinese jasmine

[With all the dirt, dust, talc powder, flour, dough, and sharpness washed away in water.] When I wear Iris Bleu, it feels like I'm not looking straight at a landscape of irises in full bloom, but rather the rippling shadows of irises reflected on the surface of a lake. It's overall inspired by the image of an iris in the humid air of a cool summer dawn, and as such, it is shaded and softly trimmed, with almost no edges. This scents feels slightly soapy and smooth with white flowers and water, but it adheres without an obvious dampy smell or being greasy. It also has a slight peach nuance. When I first sprayed it I could definitely tell it was an iris scent, but within 30 minutes it became a skin scent. It almost has similar to a velvety-veil peach scent like Keiko Mecheri's 'Peau de Peche' and The Merchant of Venice's 'Gyokuro' (This is a description limited to the texture of the peach rather than an analysis of the notes of the perfume.) It's an office friendly well made scent, but I think the IRIS character is weak. If you want to get a strong presence and longevity from this delicate fragrance, you will need to spray it quite a few times, but the tangy top notes will sting your nose. (+I first sprayed it at a department store and liked it so much that I bought a full bottle on the spot. When I got home, I regretted it for a moment because the illusion of this scent was so short-lived. However, after using it every day for about two weeks, I am quite satisfied now. This review is also based on my experience using it consistently for two weeks.)

Pretty, very easy on the nose, delicately sweet. Elegant but not snooty. It grows on you. You know a perfume is special when it evokes a mood, and this is a mood of tranquility and contentment, but with an edge of mystery. Somehow I think of watercolours of Italy by John Singer Sargent. At first it's just sunlight on plaster walls, then you look, and look and before long you're drawn in to a place of awe at how beautiful a wall can be in sunlight. Maybe it's because this is a slightly lemony iris, and iris is chalky I think. Lemony -Sunlight. Chalky - Plaster walls! It reminds me of Hermes Hiris, but it's far gentler and a little like Van Cleef and Arpels Bois d'Iris. Or it might remind you of Iris Prima by Penhaligon's. I find it highly pleasant, though it's certainly not a huge statement. Perfect for a spring or summer's day - a romantic date, or any occassion where you're in the mood for beauty. Big like!

Iris Bleu by Giorgio Armani is a refined, elegant fragrance that beautifully showcases the powdery softness of iris, balanced with fresh white florals and subtle green notes. It opens clean and airy, with a musky-woody base that gives it depth without overpowering the delicate top. This scent feels calm, classy, and comforting — very much in the same powdery floral family as Dioramour by Dior, but with a slightly greener, more grounded finish. Perfect for those who love soft, feminine scents that whisper rather than shout. A great everyday signature for spring and summer, especially if you’re drawn to graceful, understated luxury.

Wow it could’ve leaned toward a more classic iris fragrance, but the galbanum and top notes bring a bitter, fresh twist. As it dries down it settles into a skin close, musky scent. Overall the iris butter clearly takes center stage. Since I’m not a huge fan of floral ones, I wouldn’t personally go for a full bottle. But I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a fresh spricy soft iris.

Only writing this review because the person below me said they got 10mins of longevity. I tested it today like 3 sprays on my skin and it was still pushing around 7 hours in.. remember everyones skin chemistry is different. Dont just read a review and easily get swayed, test it yourself. At around 11 hours in now and if i press my nose up against my skin i could smell it (but very faint).

Fruity fresh and aquatic without being too sweet. Not at all what I expected. The closest I can think of now is Dusita's Splendiris. This is not a dry dusty or very musky buttery version of the iris note. Quite nice fragrance, just not for me.

Lovely and bright and perfect for a hot summers day — but lasts all of 10 minutes on my clothes and skin. Extremely poor longevity and zero sillage

Some commenters below describe Iris Bleu as light and airy, but this felt like a strong gust of wind to me lol- specifically the opening (later it becomes more like a slightly bitter jasmine tea). The galbanum note caught me off guard- it was quite potent but not at all headache inducing. Sharp, astringent, herbaceous, and reminiscent of cigarettes to me. Just as I thought it smelled distinctively masculine, the powdery sweetness of the jasmine comes into the picture. Definitely too sweet (and soft!) for those who are really into sharp masculine scents. The sharp green notes are still there, just not center stage. Overall, its a nice modern interpretation of a classic scent. The dry down was still a little too bitter for me though. I gave my sample to my uncle, who agreed that the opening was definitely masculine.

A very nice woody citrus with a beautiful iris note. Very enjoyable but a bit too masculine leaning for me personally. Still I’d say it’s an 8/10 and my partner would probably love this one.

One of weakest fragrances I've ever tried. I really like the scent profile - green, floral, and woody. Unfortunately, it vanishes off my skin and it becomes a faint skin scent in no time.

This is a review for my fellow green, dry, woody Iris lovers. The opening is exactly the galbanum Iris I wanted: Green, earthy, just a little sharp, backed by some light citrus. But just a minute or two in, the jasmine starts to take over. Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate jasmine. But this is a bubblegum-forward diffuse jasmine musk (benzyl acetate?) that pulls too sweet for me. (I prefer a more indolic jasmine myself.) But for this fragrance, I was hoping the drydown would have some more austerity and refinement... The cedar (and the iris for that matter) is almost difficult to pick out behind the sweet powdery floral isolates. Go for Chanel no 19 or l’iris from Santa Maria Novella instead if you have similar taste to me (or even better, Iris Medicis Intense from Nicolaï).

Smells like cigarettes + carrots to me

@Cinnamonbuns, and to whomever it may interest: Iris (var. pallida, germanica or florentina) is a flower. The flowers do not mean much in terms of perfumery. When talking perfumes, we talk about the plant's root system, a.k.a "orris". Well, to be super factual, we talk about rhizomes (stems that can also grow horizontal underground, so it's kind of a stem-web underground). So while perfume names, media, can include the flower "iris", the scent we smell is almost always is the orris (or a recreation or fantasy interpretation of it). Well, most brands avoid adding "half potato half ginger looking" rhizome ugliness to their marketing materials, orris is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Long story short, iris = orris, and the true use should always be orris. There is no iris butter as a separate extraction. Iris butter "is" orris butter. Butter or sometimes called concrete, is what you are left with after extracting constituents/odorous compounds by ethanol, and then evaporating the ethanol, leaving you with a wax/butter material. This butter can further be distilled to achieve an even rarer, more valuable product, orris absolute. About this perfume: With that said, I do not believe there's significant amount of real orris materials used in this fragrance, if at all. Like many brands do, any expensive ingredient can make into the marketing notes list even if they are used in symbolic amounts. One can only know after a thorough chemical analysis. The rest of the orris profile of course could have been completed by the recreations (synthetic or natural). For example, certain quality of carrot seed oils (much cheaper in price compared to orris) have a striking resemblance to orris, similar earthy, powdery and vegetal aspects. Then we have synthetics for rescue, the main compound of orris, the irones, which can be used on their own. Then you have violet materials that can be marketed as orris/iris note, which are ionones (easier synthesis/production, super cheap, yet equally elegant materials). Let's not forget the pre-made "bases" by raw material manufacturers, that can imitate the orris note very good. Iris Bleu opens up with a nice orris note, vegetal, yes. But on skin and on paper it turns quickly to a nostalgic, almost 90's violet-floral, some may call lotion or hairspray and reminds me of designer floral men's fragrances of the time, maybe even Johnson & Johnson cologne. Not much orris from mid to drydown. All I know, it smells familiar and nostalgic. I liked it.
