Based on the note pyramid, I thought this would be my ideal fragrance and was willing to shell out an exorbitant amount for a sample. That being said - it's a lovely, fairly timeless scent: Light as a cloud, crisp and aldehylic, but still laying on a base of wispy pillow-soft-vanilla, with some 'generic clean notes' thrown in. The drydown is a crunchy ambrette/iris melt, and it's very cozy. The sore spot here is how unrealistic the full bottle price is in relation to how WEAK and short-lived this is... and for that price I'd tend to opt for something a little bit less 'done, and safe'. So much so... that I had a hard time pinning down what this scent reminded me of - there were so many close calls! 1) Frederic Malle L'eau D'Hiver. (More full bodied) 2) The actual most watered down/less powdery-more boring reincarnation of John Galliano EDP. 3) I would even go so far as to draw a mild comparison to Chanel No. 5 Eau Premeire (No torches and pitchforks please) 4) Xerjoff Fatale Charm (Packs more of a punch!) (I don't dare select any of these for the 'reminds me of' option.. they are just my humble two cents. Perhaps if you love any of these scents or they are hard to find where you live- check this one out!) I hope this isn't coming across as a negative review - it's lovely, soft, heavenly, a little bit addicting... but pretty safe and unoriginal for nearly 400$.

The Bergdorf Goodman exclusive Armani Prive New York struck me as unassuming and not too outstanding at first, especially for a BG exclusive priced above-the-norm for Prive at $360 for 100ml. The scent, is overall, modest---a blend of white pepper, white musk, white tea, iris, vanilla, some florals, and incense. It's quite white, as the note list allows me to imagine, and it's an even-keeled, balanced impression of the various elements. It's sharp but not too sharp, and smooth but not so smooth as to be boring or too sweet. It evolves from the sharper to the sweeter, eventually remaining on my skin as (predictably) the vanilla and white musk, primarily. Classy stuff, four-season and gender versatile, surely leaning slightly feminine but not enough to move the needle for me, at least. Performance is well above average on projection and quite great on longevity, impressive given that it's not a particularly heavy scent, but it is a rich scent, nonetheless. The price is a lot to swallow but this could be a unisex signature scent. Certainly something to think about. At least for the time being, it does not appear to be slated to be discontinued. 8 out of 10

My newest bottle and it is oh so beautiful 🤍✨ I blind bought this from Bergdorf Goodman last week and yes, it is still available but it is an Exclusive from BG so it did hurt my wallet a bit 😭 Nevertheless, I have no regrets! This is a fragrance for musk lovers. It’s powdery but not overly so. I love the burst of pepper at the top, it makes this fragrance joyful and fresh! Then, the florals appear accompanied by a powdery musk that is warm and enveloping in a most comforting way! There is a hint of sweetness as the dry down happens but it’s very verrrry subtle. I love looooove this fragrance!!! I’m so glad I took a risk, it doesn’t happen frequently but this is a successful blind buy! 🤍✨

Ah heavenly father my lord my savior? Why hast thouh forsaken me ? ... i wanna say cuz this was only sold in new york bergdorf goodman and the lady was kind enough to give me 2 x 1 ml samples, all the way in 2017 and today i still have one 0.5 ml left. Guarding it like mybaby. This scent, people, is divine. Please contact me if you get aa hold of it. İ can trade my liver and two kidneys, just kidding. Or maybe not. Dear iris is so endearing here and i almost smell peony and suede like JML peony blush suede. Great combination it would make. 10/10, and sillage too is just to the point. Ah fifth avenue! Ah central park! Ah my youth!

I blind bought this for some crazy reason, and let me say I am so glad I did. This is such a beautiful fragrance. Feathery light, yet warm and sweet, It just is so beautiful. Opens with pepper, iris and neroli and dries down with wisps of incense, tea and cashmeran. The aldehydes give this a faint sparkle, and the iris gives it some beautiful powdery notes that all come together with the musk, incense and vanilla. Nice longevity and sillage as well. Not for everyone but well worth checking out if you have the opportunity!

Absolutely gorgeous. It starts out peppery and then mellows into the most amazing powdery scent. I wore it to dinner with my partner and he although he never usually comments on my perfumes, he told me how good I smelled. I agree with other reviews about the moderate sillage and long performance. This is my first Prive, and I'm not experienced enough to pick out the individual notes (either that or maybe it's extremely well blended?), but this is how I want to smell every day. A total love <3

I visited Bergdorf Goodman on 5th Avenue because of the window display of Armani Prive New York. As I walked into the store, I was greeted by their associates who were promoting the fragrance. I enjoyed our exchange and left the store leaving a trail of Armani Prive New York. It is a very beautiful, contemporary classic fragrance: white pepper, white tea, white musk, iris, peony, vanilla, neroli, a distant incense, and intoxicating aldehydes, blanketed by rich cashmeran.

I've given this a full wear...initially I get the white pepper, incense, & tea. 10 minutes or so that was almost completely gone & what is left is a soft musky, vanilla, peony/neroli floral. The cashmeran & ambrette are grounding & smoothes it out beautifully. She settles into an absolutely lovely fragrance. Sillage is slightly moderate leaning intimate to me. Moderate longevity. 💜 8.5/10 I have a box lot of (44) 2 ml samples for sale on ebay. UPDATE SOLD.

It makes it’s presence known without being overpowering. It’s a powdery vanilla scent. The vanilla is balanced perfectly by the other notes. Sillage is moderate and the performance is amazing. It comes closer to the skin after about 4 hours, but 2-3 sprays on the neck and shoulders lasted all day and into the evening. This leans feminine but is easily unisex. This is a beautiful fragrance. Very versatile. Highly recommend

My most inoffensive perfume to date. It reminds a lot of my Afnan Pure Musk BUT the incense, cashmere and vanilla notes on this one elevate it from just being a musky perfume. It could work as a skin scent but to me, this is like that perfume you wear when it’s an unplanned date night... like you guys know you’re going out but you’re going wherever the wind leads you.

That’s a lovely scent! It’s very fresh and somewhat citrusy but it also has the most amazing combination of sweet and peppery notes. It’s both very tender and slightly sweet but it a bit of a spicy and smoky character. Loooooooove it! Why oh why they had to discontinue this one....

I love it! I can smell tea and fresh peonies. And above all, it is the most beautiful bottle that I have in my collection!

Vacationing in NYC and I go into Bergdorf Goodman. The employee at Armani perfume counter offered me a sniff of this rare and limited edition fragrance. The bottle color is beautiful and it smells great for everyday. While I like the scent, it reminds me of Orpheon by Diptyque which I have. Honored to be able to smell a rare Armani Prive perfume.

Powder, musk, a bit of pepper, an a hint of floral. A thoughtful skin scent.

Too much pepper in the opening. Then it finally dries down into a soft musky ambrette, definitely smell the smoke in the background as well. Couldn’t smell the iris or tea anywhere. If you like black pepper or can get past the off putting black pepper opening then go for it. It’s a unique one for sure.

I wanted to love this, but sadly, it turned to instant harsh incense on my skin. I don’t have a single solitary note of anything else coming through. Nothing powdery, nothing sweet. No vanilla, no white tea, no Iris, no musk, nothing. Someone else mentioned libraries and pencil shavings, I get that as well. I wish I smelled the smooth, slightly sweet powdery vanilla that I did while at Bergdorfs.

I have a full bottle with box available if anyone is interested. This was the first perfume that I bought from the Armani Prive. Unfortunately I didn’t like it, is probably too niche for me. I can smell incense and very mature flowers in a vase that are about to wilt. On the other hand, it is the most beautiful bottle that I have in my collection

Overwhelmingly powdery/sweet. Like one of those old school talc powder puff blasts. Best for a heavily Chanel jacketed crowd dining at their doyen friends penthouse on the upper West side discussing the latest art display at the met. Way RICH. and it is pricey and apparently not easy to find.

The dry down is an exact reproduction of the scent of old libraries, old books, and pencil shavings. Some people search high and low for that scent - I am not one of them.

A Scent Library Fragrance Review: Armani/Prive New York 2017 Bergdorf Goodman Exclusive ———————————————————- New York. My birth place. The city that never sleeps. Fanny Bal did a marvelous job creating the feeling of the iconic city in her fragrance. ————————————————————— Imagine you’re riding the subway. It’s your stop so you step off the train platform. You walk past the musicians busking 👩🎤🎶🎵 to find your way at the landing that brings you above ground. Each step brings you closer to the jazz like sounds coming from the city streets. You take that last step out from the darkness of the terminal .... SLAP! A rush of crisp air, blinding sun, honking taxis and a cacophony of invigorating sights and sounds attack your senses. ———————————————————- That’s the opening of New York. The Neroli and white pepper are cold and bracing. A bit sharp and almost* too much. The aldehydes are clean without going too laundry or soapy. It’s fresh and has lift. Creating a feeling of expansion. Which feels as if the notes of Neroli and white pepper are clouds suspended within a bright blue sky. The aldehydes also have a twinkling metallic tinge which ebb and flow beautifully with the frankincense. It’s as if you’re walking up to the skyscrapers that line the streets of the city. Their silver vertical columns beaming in the sun. As you walk closer it casts its shadow over you. You reach out to touch it and it disintegrates into a plume of incense smoke. You feel disturbed and wonder wtf is happening here, then -out of the (almost) too clean aldehydes, neroli and incense, comes a welcoming sweet powdery vanilla. Perhaps a patisserie? ———————————————————- You follow your nose to a townhouse and walk inside. Your senses are greeted with warm vanilla custards and the soft powdery texture of Iris. As if these pastries are created with Iris flour and filled with vanilla Planifolia custard. You sit by a window watching the passerby’s as you sip on a cup of white tea and savor a few too many vanilla custards. The sun is setting. You leave the patisserie, traces of iris powder on your finger tips and nose. The scent of vanilla and tea clinging to your person. Street lamps have turned on. You find yourself walking in a park. You look towards the horizon and the night sky is framed by the outline of skyscrapers. With the street lamps and moonlight illuminating your path, your fingers graze the trees as you pass by. You’re looking for a place that’s as quiet as possible in the city. You walk deeper inside Central Park to find an open field. —————————————————————————— You pull on your cashmere sweater, which collects the powdered iris from your skin. You choose a spot to lie down. You close your eyes, breathe in and look up at the clear night sky. 🌕 Stars are twinkling and the scent of the trees kiss your face as the breeze whooshes by. 💨 You can smell the day on you: incense, tea, Iris vanilla and gentle musk -all clinging to you like fabric. I wanted this fragrance back when it came out after sampling it but the it sold out and being a limited edition I thought it was gone for good but recently while browsing the BG website it popped up so I bought it immediately. Pricey even with the 15% off I got but worth it imo. It’s just as lovely as I remembered. Not super powdery but you get traces of powder throughout the fragrance. The top is a bit peppery but not in a bad way, that fades though and gives way to a musky, clean, vanilla with some incense, tea notes and florals. Just a smidge sweet. Perfection. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on this one this past week that I wore it many days in a row. Was told it smelled like a clean and creamy vanilla musk and I agree but I do pick up on the florals too but they are not prominent. Bottle is pretty too. This is what I wanted Mugler Over The Musk to be which was hyped up but I found that fragrance to be extremely peppery throughout the entire wear which I didn’t care for and was masculine overall to me. It was also very weak, a true skin scent. New York is feminine to my nose or at least fem leaning and it lasts and projects much longer. I got a moderate projection with good longevity. It’s not in your face but not a skin scent either and overall to me is blended better than Over The Musk. Idk if this is still a limited edition and if they are just doing another run but it is exclusive to BG and is in stock at the time of writing this.

Visited NYC (Bergdorfs) recently and was so excited to try this. I was planning on getting it based on the notes as a memento of my visit. Well..I'm glad I tested it, because it's not me at all. I wanted fresh powdery iris, but mostly smelled loads of black pepper with some tea. Tea only works for me in a cup. Very unisex. I was sad, but I guess I saved some money!

What people are saying is incense/pepper is coming across as ambroxan/cetalox to me. It stays the whole time. Underneath is some iris and something smooth and sweet. I get no powder. This smells nothing like baby powder or talc. I like musk scents so I really like this but I think it’s over priced for what it is.

I only spritzed on a card (yesterday) and I am still drooling over it (above and beyond all of the other beauties I tested that day that I can only test at a counter at Bergdorfs). Will do a proper test and report back. Agree this will be a true classic.

Smells like the basal Prive DNA in powder form? People...why? Why do you review things so strangely on here? stop overcomplicating things like this. Its literally just simple aldehydic air smell. Thats it. Smells like powdery air.
