Sable Nuit

#1494 in my "Tour of Fragrance" One of the nicest Armani scents I've found. Is it $300 plus nice? Nah. Main character here is olibanum, and I am a fan of olibanum-forward scents. But there are many to choose from. The one advantage I would say this has is not what's in it, but what is not in it: citrus. Lalique "White in Black", Nishane "Hacivat Oud", Electimuss "Vanilla Edesia", Ajmal "Incense Wood", Amouage "Opus XVI Timber", "Reflection Man 45", Widian "New York", Risala "Burj Noir", Armaf "Royal Amber Oud." You can get all this for $30-300. If I was going to spend this kind of cash I'd got straight for Clive Christian "Blonde Amber." But there's that pesky citrus, especially bergamot, which I can do without. This is a an inoffensive frankincense scent, and not all are, so it has that going for it. Absolutely date wear and excellent quality. But $300+ excellent? So what's my fallback for a nice olibanum-forward scent minus the citrus? Paris Corner "Rifaqaat." Admittedly I find the vanilla concentration a bit much for my taste. But I paid $25 for it. So I'll live with it.

I consider Armani Privé Bois d'Encens to be the definitive frankincense scent. Perfectly ecclesiastical, evoking memories of Catholic Mass, it is perfection. Sable Nuit is another frankincense-dominant scent from the same line, a new release, and while I love it, I don't need both. SN is slightly lighter, more balsamic and less woody. SN is frankincense-dominant from initial spray, and it permeates this scent throughout. Soft spices and some woodiness round it out, and patchouli emerges after a little while. Earthy and herbal, it is used to perfection here. A nice balsamic amber accord develops as it dries down, becoming slightly leathery as it progresses. Vanilla keeps things smooth and sweet. It becomes slightly dry as it dries down further, the incense remaining until final fade. Sillage is strong and longevity is long-lasting. It is perfectly unisex. A lovely churchy incense scent, SN is pretty decent in its own right, but it is rendered moot by my bottle of Bois d'Encens. Cold weather excellence. 4/5.

I would just say that if you like olibanum (not when burned on charchoal but as a raw ingredient/resin/oil) you should definitely give it a try and buy it! Gives a great warm feeling when wearing it and its good that the olibanum steps in front of all other ingredients compared to other perfumes where u are hardly trying to identify it. Also in the biggening pepper is there to make it a little bit more spice! Not that much good projection and longevity on my skin especially for a prive line. I think that's the only disadvantage in this one. Otherwise its great piece for frankincense lovers!

My first review! Harrods now have a supply of this new juice so while I was there over 6 hours ago I had to try this. The sales rep verbatim said Sable Nuit has "Incense, Frankincense and Leather" as its main features. An olfactory spitting image of the ridiculously expensive "Elegantes Amber Incense" pretty much, with subtle nuances. Much more affordable, great opening, dries down nicely on the skin - cosy & spicy. Good value (for what you get) and projects supremely well as expected. Easily unisex, leaning more towards masculinity. High on my wantlist!

This is very similar to Matiere Premiere‘s Encens Suave in that it’s amazingly smooth, clean, and un-exaggerated compared to many other myrrh/incense based fragrances. Pink pepper usually ruins fragrances for me, but with this it’s used very sparingly, and for the better, in my opinion. Just an overall opulent fragrance and an instant love for me. Would recommend to anyone who has been similarly disappointed with scents of this profile—give this one a shot!

In my opinion, the Armani privé collection is very underrated and overlooked. This one is so good especially in the dry down. the opening is nice but when the pink pepper settles down, this is where this beauty starts to truly operate. A winner here and i never tought i would be so blown away by it. I prefer this to a lot of my niche fragrances. Performance-wise on top aswell, i sprayed it at 7 am and it was still projecting at 6 pm.

This perfume has such a unique depth to it. Well blended, clear, and unique. Smelling it is like reading a constantly changing story, it's so special. I love wearing it and it's the perfect accessory for a beautiful outfit. The perfume feels like an expansion of myself. Wear it and feel it.

Boy oh boy , just been through most of this line in Harrods and this by and far is the stand out winner . What an incredibly unique beautiful long lasting spicy incense lovers dream ! Definitely on my wish list , poor wallet !

I received my bottle on Monday and have worn it for the past two days and all I have to say is that this is an incense-lovers dream. On my skin, the benzoin, olibanum, cedar, and vanilla are the most prominent players. It creates a frankincense, cedar, and vanilla effect with an almost green note. In the drydown, the labdanum comes in to give it an ambery air, which I assume helps the longevity and depth of the fragrance. Which brings me to my next point......this lasts all day. Although it may become a skin-scent after 6-8 hours, it will project for 6 hours easily, with amazing sillage. If you are familiar with east-african or middle-eastern tea/coffee ceremonies, this is very similar to the incense they burn throughout the event but with vanilla added, it's fantastic.

Sable Nuit is a really captivating scent. It's warm and spicy, with a hint of sweetness from the vanilla. I love that it's unisex - my boyfriend actually tried it and loved it too! Perfect for evenings out.

The dry down is cedar, labdanum, olibanum and vanilla on me and is really *chef's kiss* -basically creates a soapy and airy veil but with fresh spices. Also, the longevity is really good - yes, a little more than 300 USD is expensive but some fragrances in this price range do not even last for 3-4 hours on my skin, whereas for Sable Nuit it's around 10 hours, so the price may be justified (not for me, though, sadly).

Armani Prive #1 - Sanctuary In my ignorance, i never thought i would smell something like this from Armani. I recently tested Amouage Royal Tobacco and that featured a beautiful note of olibanum. Sable Nuit beats it in that regard, its so mesmerising and monastic in its use of olibanum that it blew me away. A scent that is subtle and warm, a tale of realistic bitter coniferous olibanum and amber that sweetens up in the drydown but remains understated, balanced and natural. Compared to Royal Tobacco, the olibanum in Sable Nuit takes center stage and its the unignited type. Its a less complex and bombastic scent but that just adds to its appeal and realism. To give another example, i really enjoy the myrrh in Paco Rabanne’s Pure XS but i admit in that case its “faux-resins”. You smell the sweetness of the resin, not the realistic experience you get in Sable Nuit. Think of smelling a rose scent compared to an actual, real rose where you physically feel the flower in your hands, gently touch its thorns, smell both the petals, the leaves and the stem. That is the difference between the resin accord used here and the one in Pure XS. I don't mean to bash Pure XS because its one of my favourites, and its not designed to be realistic. Different products for different vibes...and different price points... Sable Nuit is surreal in its beauty, and it transported me instantly. Imagine taking some time off for spiritual healing, alone in the mountains. You rent a cabin right next to an Orthodox Monastery and the window of your room overlooks the church grounds. Its a foggy, bleak winter morning but your room is comfortably warmed by the fireplace. You get out of bed and spend some time just staring outside whilst the sound of crackling wood coming from the fireplace comforts you. You find peace in watching the monks go out and about, walking up and down the cold cobblestone paths, shoveling snow, carrying firewood and doing chores. You can tell its cold outside just from the condensation coming from their breaths, from under their hoods. It gives you chills but you feel glad and cozy because your room is warm. Update: There are fragrances that leave a mark on you, fragrances you search for in other fragrances and Sable Nuit for me turned out to be one of them. Rumors of certain Armani Prive's being discontinued made me monitor the availability of this fragrance ever since i've smelt it. As soon as i saw a major discount at the only retailer that still has Sable Nuit in stock, i jumped on the ocassion and picked a bottle up. It was still a gut-punch to pull the trigger and its my most expensive fragrance to date and possibly ever, but i believe i would have regretted had i not bought it.

.Fresh,spicy,clean and musky, although it is unisex and in my opinion it leans more ♂️♂️ , very well-blended ,soft, elegant, I wouldn't say it is unique, but in this type of fresh musky category, is one of the perfume that has a very smooth texture, probably due to Vanilla and Benzoin, opens abit green and peppery, and then it is all about clean musk. Overall smells like a very expensive toothpaste in the nicest way, It has a mild and steady projection, stays on my skin for 4-6 hours./ I really enjoy this perfume on my husband ✔

I haven’t smelled this yet but I’m interested whether their new release will come in at the same sparkling, celestial level of the previous heavyweights in this line (Cuir / Rose d’Arabie etc.) in their original iterations before the scandalous reformulations...or whether this new addition will represent an entry level offering riding on the coat tails of this line’s reputation, which leans so heavily on the whispers of those long dead giants. Please pass on your thoughts if you try this!

It smells woody with some light spices. This is how most poeple will experience it. however it si the olibanum that is dominant here. soften with labdanum. and given som backbond with the vanilla and benzoin. Very elegant. Nice projection and very good longevity without being overpowering. I am impressed.

Had a quick sniff at this after smelling many others. But it smelled identical to the Limited edition Sable Fume from 2015 which I happen to have. I will try to do a side by side test soon. Glad that Armani has released this again as it is a very unique scent.

I don't understand why brands keep launching products but then don't stock it in stores on on their web stores.. It's that stupid fashion collection mentality of launching a collection and sending it to stores months after.

I visited a Armani Boutique 2 months ago in Hong Kong, spoke with the sales assistants and they were not aware of this release. I wonder where could one possibly sample this perfume and when it would be made available.

Incense-forward perfume. What I call "cold incense" - the smell of not-on-fire resin. Everything else is a nuance.

This smells exactly like the thc/spice pen you had when you were 17.
