Vétiver d'Hiver (Vetiver Babylone)

Very good fresh fragrance. This contains perhaps the greenest, grassiest vetiver I have ever come across - lovers of dry or earthy vetiver may not even recognize it as such. When I first sprayed it on I could have sworn it contained fig leaf, such was the greenness of the vetiver. On the top are some stellar citruses, although I would expect as much for a high-end fragrance. They blend together beautifully, with no one of the bergamot, orange or lemon dominating. However, what I really love about this fragrance is that there is this coolness which runs through it, like a green iciness. While my sample was labelled Vetiver Babylone, I actually prefer Vetiver D'Hiver as a name for this reason. People often say that fresh fragrances are great for cooling you down on a summer's day, but VB really delivers in this regard. Performance is OK for this genre of fragrance. It projects nicely for a few hours before dying down. A fantastic, cooling summer scent which anyone can pull off - but maybe even leans a little masculine. A great option for men who don't like to smell too fruity. Also great to learn more about vetiver and its many styles and uses. I like it a lot, potentially bottle-worthy. (dislike/indifferent/like, but not BW/like a lot, potentially BW/love, definitely BW/masterpiece)

The dry down is all about the eponymous vetiver from Java. This is a vetiver not quite like any I've experienced before. It clearly takes on a woody tonality, evoking the smell of freshly split cedar wood for me. All the while there are faint traces of citrus and spices in the background. Never has the fragrance of vetiver been captured so beautifully. I would compare this to Chanel's "Sycamore" from their Les Exclusifs collection as well as "Vetiver Tonka" by Hermes Hermessence line as my most favorite vetiver based fragrances. (151)

I was a bit surprised when I found out on this site that this is a men's fragrance. I've used it for over a year without knowing hehe. Not that it really matters what gender the scent is intended for, but I usually tend to gravitate more towards female fragrances. Personally I would maybe say this scent is unisex. As a lover of vetiver I fell for this one at first sniff. It is a fresh scent with some hints of spices. The different citrus notes are very prominent together with the vetiver and in the dry down I get a bit more of the peppery notes. Not too complicated, but still an interesting and beautiful vetiver scent. I would typically use this in summer. Preferably daytime, in really hot weather. Maybe after a day out on the sea with my boat tanning and having fun. Another scent I typically like at the same occations is Penhaligon's Juniper Sling. The scents are not that similar but they give me the same kind of vibe: Spicy citrusy hot weather fragrances.

Vétiver D’Hiver has one of the best citrus openings I’ve ever come across. Bergamot, lemon and mandarin combine beautifully with a breezy vetiver and pink pepper. It’s such a light and airy fragrance, perfect for the summer. I don’t get much coriander, cardamom or patchouli in the dry down - more of a very light and fluffy musk which I must admit is beautiful. This fragrance isn’t vetiver dominant to me which is misleading considering the name, however it’s one of the most beautifully soft citruses I own. The performance is also shockingly bad unfortunately but the scent itself is so stunning I can’t let go of it. The benefit of this being so soft is that you could never overspray it, if I was in 40 degree heat this would be my go to scent and still wouldn’t be overpowering. It leaves such a fantastic and addicting sillage, one of my favourites from Armani Prive’s freshie line.

This is probably my favorite scent! It’s fresh, unique and soothing. I do wish it lasted more than 3 hours before becoming a skin scent. But I guess you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Definitely not a cheapy and definitely not your average vétiver. This is citrusy and soft with some vétiver blended in between. It can be used as an everyday fragrance and is suitable for all seasons although it performs better in winter and it lasts longer on my clothes than it does on my skin. I guess the humid weather in summer doesn’t help with performance. If you’re looking for something that lasts all day with beast performance, this isn’t the scent for you. This is subtle, rich and elegant. Dior Homme Cologne can be considered as a cheaper alternative if you don’t want to pay as much.

This frag had an interesting development on my skin. Immediately after spraying I was getting notes of orange, bergamot and pencil shavings. After it dried down the lemon, cardamom, coriander came through. There's some pink pepper in there as well to give it a little kick. This is my second Armani Prive Les Eaux and just like the Yulong before it, there a wonderfully oriental characteristic to this line of scents. And by oriental I mean the far east. I quite like this. It's like a freshie with an East Asian DNA. UPDATE: 7 and a half hours in, it's still there. I'm still getting cardamom. The vetiver and patchouli never seemed to have shown up. If they did they were very faint. At this rate this could last 8 hrs or more. This is an EDT that's behaving more like an EDP.

Wow, absolutely masterful. As strange as it sounds I was blown away by how beautiful and restrained this fragrance is. It’s like smelling a lovely morning mist in the forest with fresh dew on the grass, the sun just beginning to peek through the trees. Tranquil, refreshing, introspective, and subdued. It opens with a lovely bergamot tempered by a nice green vetiver, and some subtle spices in the background. Very airy and ephemeral. With it being subdued however it definitely is among the weaker fragrances I’ve smelled. I’ll have to wait and see but so far it has been slightly more than a skin scent, and so subtle that it’s easily overpowered by other nearby smells. However, if you’re looking for something calm, intimate, yet confident, I can’t recommend this enough.

Top notch fragrance that sits close to the skin. Just imagine the highest quality vetiver mixed with the highest quality citrus. This is for a wealthier gentleman who really doesn't care to project, but if you sit next to him at a Board meeting, you'll get pleasant whiffs on happiness and feel calm. I picture a man well groomed in a suit stepping out of his Porsche in Palm Beach, and everyone greeting him as he walks to a very important meeting. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ There is nothing intoxicating about this fragrance. It's just screams professionalism. I would consider this the #1 office fragrance of all time. BTW, the annoying Grey Vetiver wouldn't even make it in my top 10 office fragrances. I can't stand that stuff. Please stop hyping it.

I love this - it's gorgeous! I wear it a lot, and my husband also wears it often too, and it (as is only natural!) smells quite different on each of us. It smells gorgeous on him, and very beautiful on me!!!! I just adore the beautiful smoky, woodsy bitter-chocolate vetiver combined with the delicate earthy herby patchouli, and the scintillating bergamot. Ooooh it's just yum!!! A delightful combination, along with the wonderful pungent cardamon and the delicate pink pepper and coriander....it's gorgeous. Truly gorgeous. It's so lovely!!! And it lasts very very well (all perfumes last very well on me I must say. I must have the skin for it!) on me, roughly 10 hours, and I get many many beautiful compliments!!! I looove it!!!!

A citrus infused, delightful take on vetiver - summery, sparkly and delicious. It begins a teensy bit green with an air of Earl Grey Tea, that I surprisingly don't often get from bergamot predominant scents. It quickly settles into a thinner kind of vetiver, no smoke here, with an almost sweet blend of citruses whirling through it. Pretty linear, light and refreshing. I do love this scent, but it's like a very well done AdP, as another reviewer mentioned, and can't quite justify the price tag. Especially when to me it was almost identical to Diptyque's Vetyverio, if slightly fresher. It's FB worthy to me, but I don't think I'll invest.

Vetiver Babylone by Giorgio Armani is the most wearable unisex vetiver fragrance I have ever smelled and it is gorgeous! A rich semi-spicy vetiver with a gentle spritz of bergamot. Clean with a sense of refinement! The vetiver is not too woody or too smoky and the bergamot was a much better choice than perhaps lime which can be too harsh of a citrus scent, fortunately I do not detect lemon. The bottle I have is of the original that actually says “Vetiver Babylone” on it, but I do not know if the scent has changed since they re-named it and tinted the liquid. However I do think that this prive collection is lovely and well worth a try!

I've been wearing Vetiver Babylon for around 4 months now and really have a high appreciation for this scent. To my nose it is more of a citrus (bergamot) fragrance than a vetiver one (which is a little misleading given the name). Never the less this is arguably the best Citrus on the market with a high mass market appeal. It receives far more compliments than any fragrance I have ever worn (with the exception of Aventus). On my skin projection and longevity are moderate; the perfume lasts for up to 7 hrs and projects within 2 feet for 5 hrs, making it a great work scent. 9/10 in my books.

Love at first smell with this beautifull scent. It's fresh, happy, confident, and above all confortable. I discovered the Armani Privé line thanx to a great and tastefull woman in a department store. First tried a sample, and decided to buy a bottle. It's pricey (110€ for 100ml), but so worthy. I understand the similarities with Encre Noir Sport, but Vetiver Babylone is smoother and classier. Encre Noir Sport is a great fragrance, but much more classical. Anyway, a fantastic scent, not soapy, not harsh. And the bottle and packaging are superb!

A fresh citrus/earthy scent. It is definitely a spring scent, not warm enough for winter, not cool enough for summer. Funnily enough it smells like Christmas :D It is a beautiful and unique fragrance and I have gone through bottles and bottles of it. My issues regarding this scent is how expensive it is and it does not last on your skin as long as you would expect it to - you will find yourself respraying at least twice after your initial application. These issues will not stop me buying it though, it will remain one of my favourites.

Great unisex freshie, somewhat resembles xerjoff nio with the bergamot+cardamom, but this is more unisex and has an endearing mellow blue feeling to it, making it more casually wearable, where nio is bracing electric green. Also reminds me of mugler "love you all" blue neroli, but I prefer this armani because it's more complex. It has a clean fluffy pillowy musk paired with a blue candy and citrus sweetness, and enough of earthy cardamom+vetiver to ground it. Probably wouldn't get a full bottle but I'll easily use up my sample

I have a sample and My wife loves it which makes me happy so is my oldest daughter. I am definitely adding it to my collection. The combination of the notes is smooth and captivating not much of a projection but certainly can't be ignored once you walk in wearing this. I am getting compliments in the office from the ladies. Pity, it doesn't last more than 4 hours on my skin. EDIT: fast-forward to spring of 2022 the scent last longer in spring. about 8 hours on clothes and 6 hours on my skin smells much better than in winter.

Maybe the best, most natural citrus opening ive experienced.. followed by a scenic vetiver that pumps out with sillage over the hours. Incredible to me that people claim the longevity is average on this line.. For EDT's especially, the armani prive's i own are very strong.. long lasting and sillage is top notch.. all smell super natural and bring vivid imagery. Not sure what hype train people rode instead of recognising this line for the excellence it is.. but hey, more for me at discount prices i guess.

I received a sample of this at Neiman Marcus and have been dabbing this on at night after a shower. It's delightful, with citrus and vetiver combining beautifully. It does lose its brightness rather quickly, although I can still smell it on my wrist in the morning. It's a very clean-smelling vetiver, smooth and delicious and I would love to smell this all day. The price is a bit steep for a scent that is an EDT and becomes a skin scent so quickly but I still want it and will have to save to buy it.

An underrated treasure! I would have never picked it up just looking at the notes, but I came across this one at the store and it was such an incredible surprise! An absolutely beautiful clean citrus fragrance with fresh spicy cardamom and a very subtle vetiver that is just enought to give it depth. Perfectly unisex. My only issue with it is that it lasts 4h max on my skin. Otherwise I think I might’ve purchased a full bottle already because it was love at first sniff.

Fresh, uplifting and clean. The vetiver is the star, but there is a delicate balance between it and the citrus notes, cardamom and patchouli. It comes off a little bit like The Yulong at first, but dries down soapy on my skin. It also reminds me of Elizabeth and James’ Nirvana French Grey, but more refined. It’s mild and not heavy to my nose. The epitome of a laundry detergent smell without being headache-inducing or trying too hard to pull off the “clean girl scent”.

This is a beautiful scent, one of my favourites from the Armani Prive line, which is why I have a bottle. The other one I have is Santal Dan Sha. It's a great citrusy vetiver, and one of my favs overall in that category. It is perfectly unisex to my nose - I love it on me, but I'd love it equally on my boyfriend. Longevity is around 6 hours on my skin. I also love it in any season - I've worn it a few times this winter and it's been great.

This is a beautiful scent. Very fresh and pleasant. I honestly can't imagine anyone dislike this fragrance. It's very citrusy on the opening, but you can soon detect a clean, subtle vetiver and green note. Performance is a big disappointment though. Longevity is very poor and it quickly becomes a skin scent, but it's an EDT after all. I believe it'll perform better during the warmer months. I'm just not so sure it's worth the money. 8/10

omg !! this is the best ever perfume i have smell still prefer the old Vetiver Babylone version for me is more masculine more citrusy in the opining and goes all the way down to reveal the holy vetiver . it is really a dream fragrance ok for the new version Vétiver d'Hiver has more of orange juice like smell in the opening it is sweet but is a should have in your collection .

Vibrant, summery, green vetiver scent. Opens up fresh and spicy, dries down to a very nice, citrusy, woody vetiver scent with some spice and musk in the dry down. I also get a green tea accord in the dry down. This is scent is made for the warmer months. Office safe for sure. Overpriced if you ask me, longevity is not that great and its quite a simple scent.

geniunly the most underrated fragrance i have come across. WHen i first saw it i thought it was mid since no one talks about it but its by far top 2 maybe even 1 in the armani/prive line. Smell like masculine vetiver soap that dries down into a ice tea bubble bath with a hint of vetiver and woodines which does it for me. By far their best summer fragrance.

I love wearing this liberally in the heat. A fragrance must have quality ingredients from beginning to end if they are to wear well at high doses. At this volume the vetiver and patchouli become starkly apparent in their cleanest, most spotless, most polite form. The citruses are beautiful. Juicy, a touch sweet and a touch tart.

I really liked this take on vetiver. It lasts on the skin, but then it is not like other vetivers I have tried, it is creamier, sophisticated and really like its trail. Having said all of that it is too expensive for what it is and won’t purchase. I want to find a nice perfume but not if it involves having to sell a kidney!

My signature smell I use it and the Dove aloe vera & birch body wash They have the same smell! Works great together. The smell is unique and amazing! But!! So poor lasting, you cant smell anything after 1 hour. For this price its so disappointing. Anyone knows about good long lasting identical smell of this one?

It’s really nice. It’s like an idealized scent of snow. Citrus soapy vetiver. It’s not a green refreshing vetiver like usual, but fresh soft clean suitable for every seasons. The pure essence of vetiver that makes me go crazy. It's like a walk in a beautiful park in the winter, in the sunshine and full of snow.

This scent has been renamed, same bottle, but is now called Vetiver D'Hiver, just so you know if you are looking for it. Vetiver is one of my favorite notes in a men's fragrance. This is a very clean, almost herbal vetiver. Feels like a crisp white shirt. It is interesting and very wearable. I love it!

This is a very beautiful and classy citric perfume. Some of its sweetness part may come from cardamom but I had no idea until I checked the notes. There is no vetiver or at least not in a way vetiver scents usually smell like. It doesn't last long on my shirt, I haven't tested on hand.

I normally don't like summer scents as much, but I love this. It's so clean and fresh. So often with summer scents I get sharp or soapy notes... not so with this frag. It's clean and fresh throughout, whilst drying down into vetiver woodiness. A real winner.

One of the all time best summer fragrances let alone ones in the fresh citrus Vetiver category. This and Eau de Jade which is very very similar to bvlgari Pour Homme soir if you were to make it extra concentrated + amped up in the bergamot and papyrus.

This is my go-to winter scent! The citrus opening is fresh and invigorating, then it settles into this warm, woody vetiver with a hint of spice. It's sophisticated without being overpowering, perfect for everyday wear or special occasions.

I know it does not lasts as long as it should. Funnily i get whifs of it here through out the day, but But I don't care this is gorgeous! I love it from the first time my brother introduced me to Armani Prive line.

Since they changed the name, the perfume isn' t the same anymore. Altered notes and weakness are the major differences. I don' t understand why. It' s a pity, cause this one was my favorite fragrance of all time...

I looove this fragrance..surely the best summer scent ever..only I wish it would be more powerful and last longer,but still love it..reminds me a little aqua di gio but more luxury. Heavenly dry down.

Im female, but im using ths perfume n get addicted w it.....Is it wierd?...the storewoman told me this perfume is unisex but on Internet said just for men...Should I continue to use it :(((((

One of the best openings in all the land. Strong projection up front.. but wont make it to lunch. This frag on a crisp fall/spring day will alter your perception of reality.

Hidden gem. Might be a tad too sweet for some. It is perfect for an office or a date (during summer). Classy with quality ingredients.

This is the highest quality vetiver fragrance I know of. It's not an in your face vetiver. This is a vetiver Miami bigshots wear.

It's nice, very citrusy, vetiver is in the drydowm, but projection is dead, and longevity quite poor. Not good for the money.

This is my jam. Fresh and clean but done in a watery citrus way. Easy dumb reach no brainer type of scent. Simply wonderful!
