Giorgio

I was one of those lucky Vogue magazine subscribers back in 1983 who opened up the newest issue and discovered a scented paper sample, impregnated with one of the most remarkable and exceptional fragrances theretofore. It was simply DIVINE; it was flamboyant, it was fun and it was very unusual. It was Giorgio Beverly Hills, and rightfully called "extraordinary cologne". There was nothing else like it. To kipe a phrase from SJP's Covet ad campaign: "I had to have it". And because it was, back in the day, rather expensive comparatively speaking, I had to budget for it. But pinching my pennies wasn't a hardship at all; I would've cut back on almost everything just to get my hands on that juice. To obtain it, I had to mail away for it. Yes, one had to send a paper check through the mail, and I waited rather impatiently for the parcel to arrive. But the wait was worth it. Yes, this was heaven! Potent is an understatement, but I was judicious in how I used it, never more than one mist-and-walk through spray. I would not let it shout, but its presence was delightfuly apparent, and in those days before it became available in department stores, I had many, many appreciative comments and compliments. "What IS that fragrance? It is WONDERFUL!" I don't think I've ever received as many compliments on a fragrance I've worn since. It was absolutely a head-turner, for both women and men. And so I was a happy young woman, happy because Giorgio Beverly Hills is, at its heart, a happy, fun-loving fragrance. Happy because my chemistry made this fragrance blossom and sing, and this unique fragrance was "mine" and mine alone, at least for a short while. But soon enough, that all changed. Everyone loved Giorgio Beverly Hills, and when it became available in department stores, everyone got it, wore way too much of it, and it became a sorry cliche; a cariacature that represented the worst of the 80's decade. Primo, the imposter body spray just magnified and further bastardized the situation. It was no longer "mine", no longer unique. And familiarity, while not breeding contempt, did bring a sense of cookie-cutter clones, the very opposite of my personality. So, I put it away and moved on to other perfumes. Gradually, others put theirs away, too, and it's now rather uncommon to catch a whiff of it while out and about. I can't remember the last time I smelled on someone. My bottle is now 28 years old and only the last third of it remains. The juice has slightly darkened and a few of the sparkling top notes are gone. But overall, it's still all there, still as fabulous and delightful as it was in the very beginning. And I still wear it now and then, without apology. It still suits me, still elicits compliments, still makes me happy.

Giorgio could also be named Gorgeous. Let me tell you my little story with this one (apologies beforehand, it got rather long): Born in the 80s I grew up with some powerhouses worn by my mother. She smelled (smells) fabulous and looks the part. She also had a bottle of Giorgio, which at some point stood on the counter of the guest bathroom (she is more the Opium kind of girl). However, I always smelt it now and then because its so gorgeous, a happy scent. Powerful? Sure! But, as stated below - never cloying. Yesterday I was walking past the perfume counters in a department store and sniffed some fragrances on sale: The original Marc Jacobs, Anais Anais and the likes. I noticed an older sales consultant (not meaning that disrespectful, its important for the story) watching me. I spritzed some of MJ on my arm and continued with my business. After I finished I came back to that spot and smelled some more of MJ, contemplating about it and that's when she approached me. Well, let me tell you - this is the second, maybe third sales consultant I encountered who knew what she was talking about. Encouraging, not being pushy at all. We talked about white florals and how I was on the lookout for a classic and thinking about getting Houbigant Quelques Fleurs sometime in the future, maybe for my birthday as its quite pricey. That's when she guided me over to the Elizabeth Arden section (they apparently required that license as well) and asked if I was up for an experiment - holding a bottle of Giorgio. Sure, I said, I know that! She sprayed and oh my god. I didn't remember it to be this gorgeous! Thousands of white flowers (tuberose, gardenia, jasmine, orange blossom...) tickled my nose with a hint of fruit. As soon as they simmer down the base notes make their presence known. The dry down is a gorgeous and long lasting sandalwood infused vanilla with a hint of the white flowers and noticeable ylang ylang and oakmoss. This is a full-grown perfume, even the reformulated version still holds a punch and lasts forever on skin and clothing. I got some operating device from this lovely lady: Spray once, max twice before you get dressed, that's it. And then she sent me on my way with some buying advice (the drugstore around the corner had this on offer) and off I went. Was she a perfume angel or something? I don't know but it truly made my day, if not week. I am also grateful that I grew up experiencing these kinds of perfumes. They are truly in a league of their own and I love them for it!

Giorgio is a revelation to me, both because it is so lovely and also because it was one of the ubiquitous “old lady” perfumes of my childhood, only now opening up to me. While Giorgio opens with a slap of tuberose, it is much more a Gardenia fragrance to my mind. The gardenia here is earthy but also creamy, even buttery. It is almost as though you are confronted with a blindingly bright environment, and from the glaring whiteness of the tuberose, gentle gardenia comes into focus, along with indolic ylang ylang, its shadow. Orange blossom rounds out this floral bouquet, further enhancing its brightness. But this isn’t really the overall experience of Giorgio, which is shepherded into a more pastoral environ by rustic oakmoss, peach, and chamomile. Indeed, Giorgio gives the impression of bright sunlight flooding a field of flowers nodding in the breeze. The impression is not of heat, but of light and air; the texture that of pollen strewn on petals. As the sun dims on this fragrance, one is left with a tenacious yet gentle honeyed pillow of oakmoss. Now that I can appreciate its nuances, the date of this scent is surprising. (That is, I wouldn’t discourage vintage haters to try this one out.) Contemporary niche homages to vintage chypres often capitalize on the way the genre creates a wide open space between shimmering top notes and shadowy base notes, and due to changes in both taste and regulations, modern iterations of the genre tend to put the emphasis on the brighter citrus or floral notes. So unlike most vintage chypres, where a panorama seems to unfold that stretches down into the underbrush and even the soil, these scents seem to ascend skyward. Giorgio Beverly Hills produces just such an effect, which can also be seen in, for instance, January Scent Project’s Dinudisit (whose creator, John Biebel, has remarked on the bright and billowing qualities of Giorgio in his writing for Fragrantica). This is the charm of Giorgio Beverly Hills, which can be appreciated without any knowledge of perfume history. But as an appreciator of both vintage and contemporary chypres, I’m astonished to find such an approach to the genre in the 80s, a decade that tended toward often dense complexity. It seems instead to be poised on a historical tightrope between the comparatively two airy poles: first generation of chypres and 21st century homages to them, especially among those modern niche perfumes we have begun to refer to as “agrestic.”

I used to wear this back in the 90s and have not even thought about wanting a bottle in decades. I had long forgotten its fragrance and to be honest its so low priced now in the UK its seems too cheap of a scent to wear now l have much more expensive and luxurious perfumes. I admit l was being a perfume snob about it, but last year l was on a bus home from work and talking to a friend and a woman got on the bus and walked past me and the whole bus filled with this gorgeous flowery powdery sweet-ish but not sugary sweet, it's natural floral sweet, fresh gardenia lilly scent and it was wonderful..l immediately got up and went and asked her "excuse me can l ask what perfume you're wearing its amazing and l want to buy it". She said "oh thankyou, it's Georgio Beverly Hills". I was shocked l didnt think anyone wore it anymore, and l jumped online and bought a bottle before I'd even reached home. I've been wearing it for about 6months now and have fallen in love with it again. I just ordered my second bottle last night actually. Its lovely. Insanely powerful and the trail it leaves when you walk is outstanding it's fresh and clean floral gardenia lilly powdery in the dry down so womanly and feminine at a great price so you don't have to worry about using it up too fast and can get another easily for a good price. Honestly I've got £150 perfumes with these ingredients and notes that are not put together as well as this is dont let the price and retro vibe put you off. If you love florals you'll love this. Sometimes the old ones really are the best. Plus this perfume was copied to death by all the major perfume companies. They all knew how good it was and immediately did their own versions with high price tags. It really should cost more. I think if you're young and into sweet sugary fruity gourmand creamy scents you won't like this, it's taken me many years of maturing and bending towards florals in my older years to fully appreciate its magical scent. When l was much younger florals signified old ladies but now I'm quite into them. I give this golden oldie but goodie a 9/10.

My first fragrance love. I started wearing this in my early teens - a little late to the Giorgio party - and even now in my 40's the sight of this bottle and the golden yellow and white striped packaging gives me a rush of optimism and excitement. It takes me back to a time when I'd get a new bottle at the airport duty free. My mother would buy her signature Opium and as many boxes of cigarettes as we could possibly stash in wrapped up beach towels upon our return. They would have reeked of this fragrance, as I wore it poolside every day. Perhaps that kept customs checks at bay? As I'm pulled deeper into my sunny floral reverie I have a sudden urge to browse The Sweater Shop, to read the latest Just 17, and owning a Body Shop bag for lugging around my worldly possessions is the most pressing issue in my life. My goodness, I can almost taste those in-flight British Airways bread rolls... As a teen when I wore Giorgio it was a theatrical fantasy. I wasn't a little awkward dark haired girl. I was vibrant, I was a hair-sprayed blonde, I had a convertible and a phone shaped like a burger in my bedroom, all the boys at school were in awe of me and looked confusingly like they were in their mid 20's... Of course I was and had none of those things, but by golly, I smelled amazing. Giorgio today is remarkably close to what I remember. Everything was strong back then, and the formula is more subdued these days. Don't get me wrong, it's still very potent, but for me not at all cloying or invasive. It's sweet, sunny, floral, a little fruity. It's difficult for me to dissect, mostly jasmine, not screechy or sharp on me and I don't recall it ever being so. 2 sprays is my maximum. One inner arm and one lower chest, the neck would be too much for my preference. As an adult there's no more theatre, I'm comfortable in my own skin now, comfortable enough to wear this beautiful old friend whenever I fancy, yes somewhat for the memories, but mostly because it's still got it.

Oh Giorgio, how do I love thee?! This fragrance is a true 1980's white floral powerhouse and it makes me think of the singer Madonna lieing by a pool in a white one piece, wearing both dark shades and a big old hollywood sun hat. It is very glamorous and feminine, as well as confident and bright. That's why I think it would be best worn during the day in both the spring and summer. Giorgio is a loud fragrance, but the chamomile and oakmoss calm things down somewhat and give a slightly relaxing vibe to this perfume. It is basically what keeps it from giving me a headache or making it cloying. The soft and sweet fruitiness from the peach and apricot are lovely too, without steering things into fruit salad territory. The orange blossom is then a nice accompanying flolar note to all of this, easing us into the coming notes. But the main attraction is the bouquet of white flowers at the heart of this fragrance, their undulating petals opening up sweetly onto my skin. Tuberose, gardenia and jasmine are all featured prominently here and make this scent unabashedly feminine and heady, which I adore. The ylang ylang keeps things sunny and bright and what makes me think of Amarige a little bit. The soft and powdery rose gives a sweetly scented touch of romance, which is very nice too. Other than the oakmoss and chamomile, the powdery musk and sweet vanilla are prominent in the drydown and makes me picture an affluent mall in Beverly Hills that Cher from Clueless would go to. I can imagine being in a store like Boulmiche and waving hello to her while she tries on hats. Giorgio has a big sillage and it lasted about 15 hours on my skin, making me happy I took a chance on buying this fragrance from the pharmacy without smelling it first. I can see why it is a classic and so I'd give it an 8.3/10. Just make sure to go easy on that trigger so that you don't get banned from going to a restaurant! 🤣

I have a yellow and white striped towel I accidentally stole from the pool deck of The Mission Inn Hotel in Riverside, California because it reminds me of the Giorgio box. Ok, I didn't accidentally steal it, I totally intentionally stole it because subconsciously there's something about yellow and white vertical stripes that just screams chic. Fun. Chic and fun. AnaisLouLou below says it best: "smells like old new money." This fragrance was and is so boastful, so in your face, bubbly, extroverted, maybe even forgivably brash; the kind of girl who just grabs you by the collar and kisses you, not giving two fucks about getting lipstick on your collar. I will admit, this scent was a bit before my time, but I do remember smelling it as a kid. The association I have with it is the massive crush I had on Jennie Garth and smelling it on the “older girls” and women who were my babysitters, teachers and neighbors growing up. Upon first spray, the opening notes are wild, like a gaggle of girls in going out tops, screeching and talking over each other en route to the club or party. This is a total tuberose bomb but I appreciate this morphs into several different derivations during the dry down; however, the strength really is an issue because I now have a headache after repeatedly smelling my wrist in order to write this review. Despite the ever present screech, I think this is an enjoyable fragrance that just really evokes better, happier times. The kind of naivety of the 80s and 90s: of youth, of effervescence, of fun. This makes me think of careless summer nights cruising the Loop Parkway in somebody’s deathtrap of a Jeep Wrangler; underage drinking at the Oak Beach Inn; WLIR (or maybe when it was WDRE?) nights at the Malibu in Lido Beach. When you couldn’t even imagine what interesting times would await you in thirty years.

Hi y’all! OK so let’s talk about Giorgio of Beverly Hills. I will start by saying I am a PROUD member of Gen X. However, I was not big into perfumes when I was younger in my teens and early 20s because of allergies. Now that I have Zyrtec in my life lol it has opened me up to the world of fragrance! I wanted to try this fragrance because, I am a huge fan of tuberose, mostly because of my infatuation with Madonnas Truth or Dare.... is one of my all-time favorite fragrances. However, of course it has been discontinued and so I have been on a search for a beautiful tuberose perfume that I can use as a signature scent. Enter Giorgio of Beverly Hills. I really enjoy this fragrance, and every time I wear it, I get compliments from random strangers about how great I smell. At the doctors office, at the grocery store, just about everywhere. It is not my beloved Truth or Dare, which is much more creamier, and a true blend of the tuberose and gardenia, but I am really enjoying this fragrance until I find some thing a bit closer. My next blind by will be McQueen by Alexander McQueen. I’ve been told this is as close to Truth or Dare as I will find. Being a girl on a budget I will have to save up, but I am excited to give it a try. But for now I’m enjoying my Giorgio! It makes me feel happy when I wear it my kids love it as well, and tell me mommy, you smell so pretty..😁. Sometimes I feel you can’t go wrong with the classic. Note: Lately I have been layering my Giorgio with Sand and Sable. The Giorgio has stronger tuberose, and the Sand ans Sable has stronger gardenia....at least to my nose. I find that the layering of the two creates a slightly different and very beautiful combination.

I love this. I got a (probably reformulated) 0.33 oz tester on Fragrancenet for about $5 (maybe less depending on the coupon I used). This is nostalgic, but I don't know how. I've been searching my brain trying to remember who in my family wore this. Anyway, it doesn't matter, but I think the nostalgia is one main reason I enjoy this as much as I do. Up until now I've mostly been a super fruity, super gourmand lover, and while I still love those types of scents... branching out into florals, amber florals especially, and especially vintage ones... has been so fun! I've found that I really enjoy vintage scents like this. I'm into pretty much anything vintage or the like, even down to the way I dress, so it's been easy for me to get sucked in. This definitely smells "dated," but I don't care (and never will). I'm just saying for those who tend to stay away from huge 80s florals. I'm 22, so I'll inevitably get the "you smell like a grandma" comments (I get a lot of comments about "acting my age" and as a society let's shut it all down 🙏). Well you know what: fragrance has no age. There's no sweetness in this, either from sweet fruits or gourmand notes or amber. If you like florals at all, or are at least curious as to what everyone raves about, I suggest that you give this a try. Giorgio smells like wet flowers on a sunny day to me. There's nothing green about it, though -- it's just a classic, freshly-watered bouquet. Like I've been sent back in time and had been given flowers for a date. I stick my nose in the petals and breathe in and it's almost head-spinning. This fragrance really surprised me and I'm glad that it did.

I simply can not understand all the negative comments and all the hate towards this beautiful and sunny iconic perfume. I agree it was everywhere during the 80’s, it was loud and ladies sprayed it like there was no tomorrow. But come on, Giorgio smells gorgeous, bright and elegant. Most of all it is a part of a beautiful time we will never see again, our teenage years. My mom still wears it and despite is not as loud as it was, Giorgio is adorable on her. With a silage and longevity that puts those expensive designer’s fragrances to shame, it is perfectly suitable for any occasion, just keep control of the sprayer and don’t bathe yourself in it. Here you have summertime peaches, elegant white flowers, amber, vanilla, moss and sandalwood, this is glorious and with a price that’s ridiculous! How couldn’t anyone love it? The fact that is inexpensive and you can find it in drugstores, doesn’t make it “cheap” smelling, but subject to snobby people and such attitude is a real shame. I love it and find it a perfect, joyful, delightful and elegant perfume that deserves more respect. Besides, Giorgio will always remind me of my mother smiling every time I gift her with a new optimistic white and yellow box with her favorite perfume. Who can have a better picture tied to a perfume?

I'm of an age when I remember when this came out. Giorgio was a part of my high school rotation. A monsterously suffocating collection of sweet white florals that made me smell sexy in my mind. The spray was so suffocating, I used to decant this into a dabber bottle (a frightening process requiring airing out my room and much hand scrubbing). Wore it again 15 years ago in rollerball form. Still lovely, still nuclear even with 3 drops. This most recent batch (2022) has been thinned out and made more socially acceptable. I'm using a rollerball I purchased from FragranceNet. Sprays of this thing still scare me. The top is more sharply alcoholic and citric. The heart and base are still recognizably Giorgio but she feels more transparent. The whole still projects around a room, but doesn't seem to linger once you leave. She also doesn't stick around as long as she used to. I wore her last night to bed and she was gone the next day. Earlier iterations would make breakfast and hang around until you kicked her out. She's a classic for a reason. I may grieve the loss of her inappropriate ways, but she is worth snagging a cheap roller ball or sample to see whether she plays nice with you.

Quando mi viene la nostalgia dei meravigliosi anni 80, mi metto un po di un profumo di quell'epoca nel suo formato vintage ed ecco che risplende il sole puro e radioso di quegli anni. Oggi è stato il turno di Giorgio,il profumo di sole,oro,aria nei capelli, vita spensierata e libera... che sogno! La versione vintage è spelndida,dorata,pura, un tocco fruttato che accompagna il bouquet di fiori gialli e bianchi cerosi, opulenti, un tocco secco e asciutto, ti circonda un'aura dorata e radiosa. Il periodo migliore per indossare Giorgio beverly hills è primavera estate. Su questo profumo si dicono tante cose che sembrano esasperazioni e leggende, tipo che negli anni 80 era vietato in ristoranti e cinema o che era una bomba atroce, oppure un profumo di tuberosa (questa è una delle fissazioni moderne) o peggio, che è un profumo da vecchia signora anche questo ( lo dicono per tutti). Io cel'ho in tutte le versioni, vintage e nuova, lo indosso eppure non sento niente di asfissiante, non è una bestia, non è da vecchia. Ma quelli che dicono che i profumi sono da vecchia signora, loro cosa indossano? sicuramente qualche orrenda schifezza alla vaniglia sintetica e oud e frutta finta.

Finally, I've bought it! First time I smelled it, it was in the early 1990s, I was something like 13 or 14 years old and a young lady in her late 20s, who took jazz modern dance class with me, used to wear it. I loved it sooo much and one day I finally asked her which perfume she was wearing and it was Giorgio. I really wanted it, but I did not have any money of my own and my mum already bought me Anaïs Anaïs (which I still adore). So, now, finally I have bought a 30 ml bottle for 11 euro! I think this formulation is very close to the original, since I've got the same feeling when I sprayed it on. A beautiful, bold, white floral, with a nice depth in the drydown. To me, it is more suitable for colder weather or maybe spring, but I believe it may be too much in hot weather. A lot of people say it smelled like old hairspray, old lady, and all these stupid nonsenses.... I don't know.... in Italy, in 1980s and 1990s the hairsprays I smelled did not smell like this, and the woman I smelled it on was very young... so, I love it and I am sooo happy to finally have a bottle! It sends me back to happy and positive times!

Indossare Giorgio versione anni 80/90 nel giugno 2006 è un'esperienza gratificante. Giorgio era abbastanza dolce e colorato,bouquet di gardenia,gelsomino,fiori d'arancio,zenzero,albicocca,ananas,pesca, sandalo,camomilla,rosa,vaniglia, muschio di quercia,e altre note solari e dorate che si fondono con l'atmosfera estiva. Ha assunto nel corso degli anni la fama di essere troppo forte, troppo intenso, esagerato da stordire e essere vietato in alcuni ristoranti... Però è solo una leggenda metropolitana. La versione iniziale degli anni 80 era limpida e dorata,sicuramente intenso ma non di certo da essere bandito. Nel 96 venne riformulato e alleggerito per la prima volta, in seguito poi ancora ebbe qualche ritocco. La versione made in spain è l'ultima e ha dei buchi olfattivi nella fragranza dove si sente la mancanza di alcuni elementi classici, pur mantenendo il suo stile. Per i nasi abituati agli orrori moderni di nicchia e non,di intrugli sintetici di vaniglia cremosa e frutta di plastica e oudh finto e dolcissimo, Giorgio forse non si sente nemmeno.

I really like this perfume. I tried the recent formulation [made in Spain] and the smell is great though the first 5 min might be challenging, later it gets much more pleasant. The parameters are tricky - it's very loud and projecting like crazy during the first hour and then it quickly gets close to the skin. It is really difficult to dose it. I could smell it for around six hours. The quality of the smell for this price is unbelievable. It's a tuberose chypre perfume and this tuberose note smells on my skin exactly like in Odor 93 Meo Fusciuni. The smell is not too sweet or creamy, it's slightly sour due to chypre construction. I have love-hate relation with tuberose smell and I've never imagined to enjoy such fully syntetic tuberose but it's really done the right way. Try it and maybe you will pay 10x less than for a similar niche fragrance. A price tag does not indicate the real value at all these days. I have no idea about the older formulations, I might try to find some more vintage releases as this perfume fascinates me.

I have recently come to discover that I adore tuberose, if it’s done well. Usually the tuberose fragrances I love are eye-wateringly expensive with a strong presence of filth and sex - but Giorgio doesn’t fit into that category at all, and I still love it. It pushes the boundaries of what’s tolerable in society, and I relish the challenge. The tuberose is front and centre, and whilst intensely soapy and slightly bubblegummy, I don’t find it to be sickening as others might. Joined by an array of white florals, namely jasmine, alongside hints of fruits and soft woods, you’re left with what can only be described as a tuberose bomb. It’s intensely powerful. I imagine it’s not quite as strong as it was upon first release, as legend goes this was the only fragrance to be banned from restaurants worldwide due to is obnoxious strength. It’s easily tolerable these days. It doesn’t fit into my usual style at all and yet I do love it, I just can’t explain why.

'80s LATHER of sweet and creamy soapy white floral! This longtime classic opens with a white floral burst that has a pleasant detergent/clean laundry vibe, that transitions to a rich and creamy tuberose and white floral heart, resting on a soapy sandalwood & oakmoss base. Contrast to Fracas Robert Piguet: These are different, but there are some similarities. Fracas I get more powdery white floral rather than the pleasant detergent in the opening of Giorgio. As they transition to the hearts they become more similar with the creamy tuberose. Contrast to Jardins de Bagatelle Guerlain: Very different scents, with Giorgio having a clean laundry vibe that I don't smell in JdB, and JdB having the smoking qualities and fruity violet, but the longer they dry down, the more similar they become. Overall: Affordable and easy to wear for fans of vintage white florals, and fantastic performance. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

Much of fragrantica and 2020 has become a place of Fragrance snobs and spoilt brats with no or little appreciation of Iconic 80s classics. May I hasten to add the likes of these legends paved the way for all the scents we have today. Those that lived through the 80s will understand how famous this perfume was and nothing or no one can ever take that away. Yes its strong and overwhelming when first sprayed but for untrained noses you need to wait yes wait, have patience until you have the dry down like with any perfume the initial alcohol and top notes has evaporated and you get the middle and base notes. This perfume is inexpensive with brilliant sillage and longevity. We will never get another 80s and never get another giorgio yellow again despite copy cats no one can perfectly replicate so I hope this will awaken some appreciation for the perfume pessimists out their. 💛💛💛

This is a fragrance full of the most beautiful flowers see list above. On its original release 40 Years ago it was ridiculously expensive! 💷💷💷💷💷💷💷💷💷💷 Note to all potential users 1 or 2 light sprays is more than sufficient! if you do over spray you've killed the fragrance it will kill you as well! You have been warned. But a light spray will last hours. Excellent vfm nowadays can be purchased from many high street perfume stores. Boots are currently selling a 90ml bottle for £22.00 so grab yourselves a bargain! Sunshine in a bottle! Highly recommended. Try it you will love it! ❤🙏🌟

While it might be too overwhelming for confined spaces like a theater or cinema, it is absolutely magnificent in the open air. My love for this fragrance only continues to grow; it is a bold and beautiful.

Vintage 80s White-Floral opens with a fruity-floral burst of orange-blossom with clean laundry & peachy nuances, that deepens into a floral bouquet heart featuring tuberose at the centre with powdery, creamy & vintage perfume-y facets, all resting on a floral support base with a touch of oakmoss and musks. Overall a vintage white-floral, there is also a noticeable buttery ylang-ylang that makes itself known at times. The vintage vibe doesn't hearken as far back as scents like Fracas Robert Piguet, but has a peachiness (especially in the opening) popular in scents of the 1980s-90s. It could be the yellow & white striped box, but this scent always reminds me of shoulder pads, big hair and the Rodéo Drive shopping scene from Pretty Woman. Nuclear performance - lovers of vintage beast mode scents won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Lately, I’m ‘shopping’ in my own extensive fragrance collection. I’ve smelled countless ones out there today and all I can say is I’m glad I have quite a few vintage fragrances. I know everyone has their favorites, but lately mine are from years ago. A couple have turned but most have not, having been stored in a cool dark place. I was so excited to try an extensively marketed brand new one and ended up returning it. Giorgio has memories attached for me, it’s diluted from what it was but smells the same. Fragrance today is apparently regulated and the really beautiful ones are a thing of the past. One of the perks to being over 60 and loving fragrance all of my life, curating and carefully storing my collection is being able to wear extinct beauties.

I still remember when I smelled Giorgio Beverly Hills for the first time. It was 1983 and I was 11 years old. Visiting my neighbours together with my parents - got bored so I started reading the glossy magazines offered me to kill the time. And there she was. A paper sample in the middle of that magazine, to rub on your wrists (which was really innovative at that time!) Loved her ever since. At that time she was really expensive so I couldn’t afford to buy myself a bottle, but nowadays it’s really affordable so I buy big bottles and finish them! Yes, I’m an old lady and not afraid to smell like her. To me, GBH smells like sun, summer, happiness, yellow, optimism. An instant mood booster. Might be my signature scent, and proud of it!!

I was born in 89' so I don't have the same nostalgia for Giorgio as others but it smells incredibly familiar and someone in my life must have worn it when I was young in the 90s. I've been wearing this daily since I got it last week, it's the most enthralling and addictive fragrance I have smelt in a long time. It starts with a massive burst of aldehydes and white florals, which settles into a woodsy, oakmossy comforting scent with a mature and sexy undertone. Beautifully complex and confidently feminine. I can't stop smelling myself, plus the juice has lasting power, I still smell it on my jacket 3 days later. Obsessed and wished I got the larger flanker instead of the 30ml, but the little bottle is very cute.

At the dry down, the enveloping, warm, woody, musky notes emerge, an unexpected and soothing note of chamomile emerges, notes which together dilute the initial vehemence of the blend, making it more reassuring. Per me molto buono e sempre gradevole,specie nelle formule pre-barcode. Giorgio è un profumo che mi piace indossare quando mi sento luminoso e pieno di comunicativa,si perchè non è un profumo introspettivo ma sociale, stimola la voglia di vivere e di godersela.

This scent is divine! In high heat it just blossoms into this sweet fragrance that is just sooo sooo soooo dang good! I don't see or smell how everyone says this is so strong. I think it's light. Maybe back in the day it was strong but now it's very light and must reapply after an hour or two. It doesn't stick like olden days perfumes used to, unfortunately. I was in love with this perfume as a child and I was so happy to find that it's still being made and super affordable now as an adult. This stuff is amazing 😍💕 it's sunshine and happiness in a bottle. But still too light for my liking but I douse myself in it so it's ok P.s my bottle is made in USA.

A quintessential powerhouse 80s floral that's oh so floral it doesn't smell like any note in particular. There is a certain sharp note however that I can't quite determine. Really love floral fragrances and this is another one I now love. Tried it again, the sharp note (whatever it is) dissipates very quickly and it becomes very typical 80s floral before eventually drying down to a sweet floral with a very slight bitterness. The dry down reminds me ever so slightly of Chanel No.19 but a lot sweeter. It also briefly smells similar to Elizabeth Arden Red Door but softer. Absolutely heavenly.

Giorgio, I have loved you for a long time. The “sunshine in a bottle “statement is so very apt here. Please never overspray this one. It’s truly a powerhouse, even in its current iteration. The tuberose sweetness is there from the beginning. Gardenia and ylang are also prominent. The sandalwood smooths this out, but, at least, for me, the cedar is ever present, giving Giorgio Beverly Hills quite an edge. I love this scent, no matter how long it has been since I sprayed it! As long as one is moderate in spraying, this one is an absolute winner. Don’t fear her, but treat her with respect.

The sweet spot for Giorgio is in summer heat or a warm fall day. That yummy sweetness tajes me back to my carefree childhood. I used to inhale deeply when my bffs mom would spray this or primo and id make a mental note to buy this when i grow up. I finally bought it and it is just as delicious as it was back then! But at first spray it smelled like P.S Design then just like Charlie Red, then finally i got out in the sunshine in some heat and thats when that familiar sweetness came to life!!! It is soooo good! I will save this for summer 🛴🚲🎠💒

A love love love from my first spray! A one of a kind. A fruity floral Masterpiece. I've worn her since the release in 1981 & will continue to wear her loud & proud. She is a beautiful & feminine classic. I never want to be without her. I will wear her anywhere anytime but my favorite time is a sunny, very breezy day so the scent can be carried on the wind...if you're lucky you'll catch a glorious & enchanting whiff. 🍑 🤍💛🤗 p.s. Mc1995; Britney's are some of my favorites too...it's ok to have differing tastes in fragrance. :)

Luscious and lush, I loved it way it developed on nearly everyone but me. Within a half hour of spraying it on, it would turn pungent and frankly, rank. Topping it off was the ghastly headache I would experience every single time I wore it. I’ve tried it twice in the nearly thirty years since my first bottle and if anything, the headache is worse. Very few scents have had this effect on me and I am a lifetime devoted of Guerlain - Vol de Nuit, L’Heure Bleue, Jicky Nahema and Shalimar, so my nose is neither shy nor retiring.

One of my signatures in high school. Other girls seemed to be wearing softer scents like Beautiful, Love's Baby Soft, or Electric Youth. I loved this powerhouse! Was it a little "mature" for me? Maybe, but I embraced it. I still wear it often because I love those iconic frags, the "bold ladies" of the '80s, and will choose them over most cotton candy generic-ness available today. The dry down of Giorgio is so lovely and lingers all day. My current bottle is considered vintage. Sillage and longevity are insanely good.

It is exactly as gaudily sunshine-y as the packaging suggests. It packs a sassy punch and I love it. Today I sprayed it on my wrists, then very incautiously applied sunscreen lotion about 10 minutes later, then took a brisk walk in the sun and perspired all over it and I was gloriously happy the whole time. I understand why people hate it, but I am going to keep wearing it on sunny days. Liked the comment from Zhara that it should automatically be included with every purchase of any convertible...

So gorgeous, and such a commitment! Nothing half-hearted, wishy-washy, or maybe about it. You are in for the duration when you spray that first spray because she settles in to your most comfortable chair, feet up, with a cup of hot black coffee and a shot of Jack, and Elle magazine, Esquire, and Architectural Digest in her lap. She tells Alexa to play Robert Palmer, Huey Lewis and the News (“I Want a New Drug”), and INXS. She will leave when she’s damn good and ready. I LOVE this perfume!

I love this strong flower scent on my skin. I just purchased a back up bottle afraid that I will run out. This would be difficult because it only takes one or two sprays to cause a cloud of thick fragrance. I wear this at home with abandon. I spray lightly and wait an hour before wearing it outdoors. This was a big hit in the 80’s and pricey so my friends and I found it a treat when we got our hands on anyones bottle for a spray.

I absolutely love this. I was born in the 80s and was transported back the first time I smelled this. I always wondered about this fragrance when I smelled it on others and 25 years later I finally found it. It might smell a bit "cheaper", but this is very similar to JPG Classique Intense, another all time favorite. If this is your "style" of fragrance, find yourself a bottle on eBay and bask in its magnificence.

If this is what the 1980s smelled like....I wanna go back in time! Boy, this is a beautiful big fragrance! It’s floral, yes, but also a fantastic clean scent. And it’s big. Envelopes you. And it lasts. Honestly it’s fabulous. I love it. No wonder 40 years later it’s still on sale. I’m a guy and I’ll be wearing this everywhere - why wear any fragrance unless it gets you noticed. This’ll definitely get me noticed.

Its entirely unique if you get hold of a vintage bottle. All the reformulations after Eurocos are crap....EA formulation made in France is ok but it doesn’t develop as the original made in USA or made in UK from Beverlly hills dist. Guys if you have the current made in Spain....put it in the bin because the smells’ got nothing to do with Giorgios 80s era ...it is a phantom of the original one....they ruined it!

I’m totally here for Giorgio. A full-on, beast-mode blast of the 80s. One spritz and I’m back in the era of teased bangs, neon optimism, and the naïve belief that we were actually moving past homophobia, prejudice, and misogyny. But hey—here we are. So I’ll spritz my Giorgio, adjust my shoulder pads, and pretend the future’s so bright I gotta wear shades.

Beautiful, special (definitely compared to today's fragrances) and it won't come across it on the street (finally!!) Classic, elegant, absolutely feminine,it surpasses the current big brands in terms of quality, and it's much more beautiful and sophisticated than them. I have a new signature scent, I absoluuuuutely looove it. Amazing.

Beautiful. Sunny. Attention demanding. Floral. I adore this. Smells exactly how I imagine the rich women in Beverly Hills would smell like in the early-mid ‘80’s while shopping in the warm sunny spring weather on Rideo Drive. I’m wearing 23 sprays right now & am living every second of it. ☀️☀️☀️☀️

@justangela you got that right! I'm a Virgo born in 82 and this is one of my all time favorites that I keep restocking! I use it every single summer! It is happiness and the life 💖💖💖💖💖 so sweet mmmm not as strong as they say imo. Wish it was stronger with a body powder and bath oil to soak in!

@doya — I can see the resemblance to Gucci Rush, too. Only not immediately, the top here is more bitter. But once the heart notes of heady white florals, as well as vanilla and patchouli in the base emerge, Giorgio suddenly becomes very Rush-esque!

We seriously oversprayed ourselves with this bright sunwater back than when it came to Norway, so, I bought a tiny bottle this summer, the smell is gone off, but I still can smell it's original dna in it, and, I still love it!

Smells a lot like one of my discontinued favorites! Pacifica moonray bloom. To me it smells like a warm summer fairy garden. It has an almost magical quality to it. I think especially in summer air, this would be perfect!
