Ocean Dream

I almost have forgotten that I have this beauty in my wardrobe! Since a couple of days summer came back to Switzerland and we have currently fanciful 22c in the morning and it will go up to over 30c today so therefore this morning I was looking for something "fresh and summery" to wear to get me through this hot day at the office. I rather would have spent the day at the lake ...;-) Suddenly, while I got dressed, I remembered that I actually still own a bottle of "Ocean Dream"! I got my first bottle when it came out in 1996 or so....and it was one of my favourite daytime fragrance back in my "Miami days".... When I got back to Switzerland a bought a bottle again, but seldom wore it since it reminded me so much of my days in Miami and my ex-husband.... So today, after many years of absence from this fragrance I wear it again with great joy! This is really a very beautiful fragrance and I remember that I received tons of compliments from men and women back then (in Miami) whenever I was wearing it! The scent is fresh and clean smelling....a bit flowery and aquatic ....It really captured the smell you get while you spent a day at the ocean or lake....very beautiful!!! "Ocean Dream" is not overpowering but it is still noticeable enough to others when the stay a bit closer to you....like for example in an elevator! This actually has happened today when I got in the elevator this morning with a guy and he was deeply inhaling (!) the air around him..... So far, no "bad memories" of my ex....so therefore I will wear this beauty for the rest of the summer! :-)

I was curious about this scent, and from reading these reviews I was not expecting much. Honestly I bought it for the bottle. The bottle I have is a round, pale blue, pearlescent finish with a pearl bound by wire on the neck of the bottle by Designer Parfums Ltd. England. I absolutely love the bottle! First spray I sense some alcohol and some white floral. Within a few minutes this changes to more a powdery white floral and marine notes, not salty. Really a very light, powdery, pretty easy to wear summer scent. Wears close to the skin which I expected. I am loving this! Definitely my most favorite perfume bottle ever! April 2021 The more that I experience Ocean Dream the more that I like it! The top of it is almost straight alcohol, but if you let it dry down for a minute or two it's beautiful. Like sweet warm water. Water lily, sea notes YES! I smell the orange blossom and the vetiver is there as well. Ocean Dream is a sophisticated summer floral aquatic. Unique among aquatics as it doesn't depend upon the citrus to give it an airy dimension. Has anyone else noticed how much the price of fragrances has increased since last year? Ha! It must be all of us who were in quarantine in 2020 buying up the all the perfumes out there! Fragrances that I purchased last spring for under $20.00 are now going for well over that! :0

One of the most perfect summer perfumes I can recall ever having - not too citric, not too fresh, floral in the right proportion and never EVER unisex, which is a great thing! I recall water lily and marine notes mainly and it had a good staying power - well, it was the pinkish-fluorescent bottle I had, I can`t say anything about the recent editions. It disappeared off the shelves then and I never repurchased it..As mentioned before, it does bring out the mermaid in you - I`m a total summer babe and both the scent and the bottle always brought me reminiscing about summertime, seaside, carefree days and nights spent in the sun by the sea and lakes. It is more of a `young scent` but I`m seriously tempted to order a bottle for the coming summer now and I need to have it in my collection. If you are into fresh floral scents, it is a must try!

I absolutely adored this fragrance when it first came out in 1997 it was my signature fragrance for summer. So light and fresh and oceanic. It was the perfume that I wore when I first met my husband. I was so disappointed when I couldn't find it anymore. I recently did a search on the internet and couldn't believe that it was still being made - unfortunately not by Georgio Beverly Hills, but I was just so happy to have found it again. So I have a bottle on my dresser all ready for spring/summer. I love to smell clean and fresh but find I really dislike citrus perfumes so this floral aquatic really fits the bill and yet it still has depth with its sandalwood and musk notes. Beautiful.

I discovered Ocean Dream when I was 22 years old. It was my signature scent for a long time. I wasn't a fan of the initial spritz. At first I was unsure of whether or not I actually even liked Ocean Dream. So I waited for a bit and then it happened, I totally fell in love. The dry down was so intoxicating that I couldn't get enough. It's funny how so many memories in my early 20's are attached to this perfume. I close my eyes and remember the powdery softness of Vetiver and Sandalwood, it weighs heavy on my heart... I think it may be time to revisit this old favorite of mine.

I fell in love with this perfume when I was 9 years old, the magic bottle and fragrance ... obviously my parents didnt buy it, I was too small to use. Years passed and I looked like crazy ... to finally find this perfume .. totally reminds me of the days on the dock watching the sea at sunset. Fresh, floral, comforting with something that i dont know what it is but that takes you into memories. It is very feminine,for me and my skin. Azhar leaves remain on my skin and fade away as if you were soaked in seawater.

I bought this around 14 years ago in the Harrods sale and I'm still very happy with it. It is what it is, an underrated powdery, floral aquatic, and it does it exceptionally well. The balance of the individual notes has been expertly produced as they all work hard together to give a fully rounded, wear anytime, inoffensive fragrance. For me it's calming and grounding and makes the world feel like a happier, cosier place. If you want a beautiful floral aquatic, this one should definitely be a consideration.

I remember smelling this on a colleague around 1996?and loving it . I bought a bottle and although I don't get the powdery soapy notes that people are describing, I do get marine fresh notes. It immediately became my signature scent and went through approx 6 x bottles. I revisited this a few years ago and still love it so much. Everytime I spray it it takes me back to my time spent in Barbados. Aah happy days and gorgeous scent. This will always have a place in my collection.

like many reviewers here, i was in love with this fragrance back in middle school- i found half a bottle in my mom's house, and decided to bring it back with me. i don't know if perfume goes bad over time, but it smells like pure alcohol, and nothing else. my main critique of the original fragrance, from when i did wear it years ago, is that it wore off really quickly. i will have to hunt it down and smell a fresh bottle to see if it is still the smell i remember it to be.

This one is so unbelievably amazing. So pretty, so cute... I have a mini of it from the 90s which I got from a friend and I treasure it. Can't seem to find a full bottle. It's a true treasure. The sea water note with heliotrope and water lily... it feels like I remember the late 90s smelling like. Wish more fragrances like this were still available. It kinda reminds me of Mediterranean by Elizabeth Arden, also... so I see why so many are rating it as a "reminds me of"

My all-time favorite aquatic, no longer made by Giorgio Beverly Hills, but the difference in scent seems minimal. Enough to keep me enjoying it and daydreaming about going dolphin watching on the Gulf of Mexico. Surprisingly long lasting on me for such a soft fragrance. Aside from water notes I can also detect mostly the orange blossom and soft woody vanilla base. Another work of art by Alberto Morillas. Pleasant any time of year for any age or gender.

I purchased a bottle of this recently as I have been feeling very nostalgic for the gems of years past. I sprayed myself down with this yesterday, I normally give myself about 10 sprays of perfume on clothes and skin. Hours later I was wondering where the clean soapy smell was coming from and it was this beauty! It's absolutely gorgeous and doesn't give you a headache if you over spray. Lovely for spring and summer or anytime of the year.

The weather was hot today, in the 80s. I sprayed on Ocean Dream and went about my day. I had an appointment several hours later. I got 3 compliments on how wonderful and fresh I smelled while at the appointment! Not over powering just fresh and clean smelling they said. I really couldn't smell it any longer on myself but clearly it has some staying power. It is a beautiful fragrance that I love to wear in the heat.

I just got this perfume today, it's not a blind buy, because I had a tiny-tiny bottle some 30 years ago, and, this 90ml bottle smells as like it was made yesterday!! It smells as I remember; some kinda white waterflowers, some aqua-notes, some sopyness, it's soft and clean, it smells divided, and I think it's perfect for females from 0-100 years, and, it's also very office-friendly. Points: A solid 10/10!!

I love love love this nice soft aquatic perfume. It is beautiful during the summer and springtime. My husband loves this on me. I am still confused about what notes are actually in this though? Other websites list cedar and moss, bergmont, and peach and lemon, but I don't see any of those notes listed here. Does anyone know??? Well, this is an oldie but a goodie that is soft and comforting. Love it.

Lily, sea notes (salt, marine), a vanilla that also hints of coconut. Sweet. Very pleasant and soft and uncomplicated. Last about an hour. Dries down to clean, citrusy, floral musk. The orange blossom note is more prevalent outdoors and smells more like satsuma. Overall impression is watery florals and musk dominate. Zero woods. Also no dry powder notes, a plus.

I was obsessed with Ocean Dreams back in middle school on to high school. It was my signature scent and really started my love affair with perfumes. I still have a bottle and will wear it from time to time. Even after all these years I never get sick of the smell. It is a refreshing, beautiful, daytime wear perfume.

i love it!!! smells like sunscreen and fresh clothes at the beach, it does great in hot weather, feels almost cooling (it's 36C right now). holds well to natural fibers and skin, for this price its a must have for summer. the bottle is also sooo pretty looks great on my shelf

I loved this when it first came out-I practically lived in it. It smelled fresh, clean, and warm all at once. My bf at the time thought it was amazing. When it became harder to find I moved on to other scents. I wonder if I would still love it now...

I just love this fragrance, so sad its gone. It leaves me seeking my new favorite. I did just order some from ebay which I'm concerned will be a knockoff, but we will see! Soft notes of floral and water. An easy wear.

I miss this perfume so much. I wore it all through high school and ALWAYS had compliments. Thank you to the review below that said Lacoste touch of pink is similar. Definitely not exact, but it’s similar for sure!

back in 1997 or so I bought this for someone special after testing dozens of women's fragrances. I can still recall that tender smell. Perfect.

I have blind buyed this one ( this is not happening so often) because I have always loved the magazine ad . When I was young I was collecting perfume and makeup magazine ads , and the Ocean Dream one has always been one of my favorite, but I couldn't find the perfume here in France. Now that I own it, I can say that it is what I was expecting regarding the ad ( it's not always the case, sometimes it seems that the person who designed the ad has never smelled the scent). This scent is a typical 90's , it's airy , light, aquatic and calm . Reminds me of discontinued scents like Eau d'Eden , Fleur d' Eau from Rochas ... So Ocean Dream is a survivor! Surely nothing to do with the nowadays trendy fruitchouli .

I just sprayed some of this as I have YSL In Love Again in the dry-down stages on one arm and it somehow reminded me of the powdery dry-down of Ocean Dream. Yet now that I'm wearing both the resemblance has disappeared. I got a faint hint of clove on the Ocean Dream now. It DOES remind of the ocean, salty sea air as we experience here in our beautiful city Cape Town, South Africa. I've no idea how they captured it, but they've bottled it alright. It's light, as is the sillage. A lovely fragrance for a hot day or a beach holiday.

Vintage Giorgio Beverly Hills parfum bottle. Unlike many 1990s aquatic florals, this is a true marine fragrance - you really get the salty sea air here. Water lotus is the main floral but it's also very powdery from heliotrope and musk (old-school musk, fortunately), so I'd even venture to wear it in winter, though it works best in cooler, humid summer weather. Leans feminine but men could wear this too.

I think most little girls in the mid nineties would have had this in their collection at some point. It was always cheap and readily available in pharmacies alongside Fire and Ice cool and Monsoon. A soft sea-spray style scent with gentle musk and fruity notes and lovely water lily top note which was a very popular note of perfumery of this era. Soft and inoffensive. I would like to sniff it again.

It is very natural, clean, really pleasant and comfortable. Shame on sillage and longevity... Doesn ́t last on me more than 30 min! But i really like it due its softness, so i ́ll just keep it spraying...

I cannot wear aquatics but can wear Ocean Dream. It is so refreshing and clean. It wears close to the skin on me. I also have the dusting powder which I love. The combination makes for a perfect Summer scent. The longevity is average. This is no longer made by Giorgio. It is made in the United Kingdom by Design Parfums Ltd.

I don't think it smells much like it did back in the day. I loved it then, it really did evoke childhood memories for me of being at the beach; it had the sun, sand, sea smell, and the bottle was lovely with that ocean color and the little pearl. The bottle is still nice but the scent is just not there for me anymore.

First spray you smell the heliotrope and sea notes its not a strong chlorine smell that most aquatic perfumes have. Its soft and floral. Then the powdery feel comes with the orange blossom musk. A light aqautic slightly sweet perfume that can be worn everyday especially for summer

I just received a sample of this and it is so light smelling after 5 min. I can hardly smell it at all. I don't think it matches with my skin or taste. Much too light for me.

Very nice floral but nothing spectacular about it. I had this but really didn't use it much. I wasn't one of those perfumes you keep going back to, you know?

Had this one a while back. I remembered it as very fresh, aquatic & casual. I think is perfect for a day at the beach or to take on a vacation.

bought this when i was like 14, im 30 now and would never wear it now , but it reminds me of 14 so i like it. Very very refreshing.

Not "marine" in the way that today's fragrances are made, and that's to Morilla's credit. Clean and pretty.

Perfect beachy scent. Aquatic notes, water lilly, sandalwood and soft musk. Youthfull, wearable for summercations. This reminds me of Medditerranean to be more specific. Strolling down beachwalk promeande with flowy summer dress. Exactly for those occassions. I got decent wear time, about 4 hours. Price is good, so if you are looking for summer vacation scent check this one out.

This is for a vintage bottle. I was expecting a lot more from this. It's a fresh marine, that's very light and watery in character. There's a soft powder and old fashioned musk holding things together. Very delicate, barely there.

In my early twenties, I was a GBH Wings devotee but was ready for something different. I remember waiting with baited breath for Ocean Dream to come out after smelling it in a magazine strip. I would pester the salespeople at the department stores weekly. It finally came out at the end of summer, which I remember being odd, since it was clearly meant to be a summer fragrance. As soon as I sprayed it on me, I understood what people meant when they said a scent didn't work with their body chemistry. I was so disappointed it didn't work out for me. I loved the aquatic notes in theory, but that particular combination of "wet" floral, vanilla and musk was disastrous on me. I'm so glad you had to try new perfumes in person in those days, as it saved me from the disastrous "blind buy". Later that same year, Champagne (now Yvresse) and Les Belles de (Nina)Ricci--green bottle, with tomato/leaf notes, came out. Those perfumes really suited my personality, and I still wear them. Although I dislike Ocean Dream, it taught me a lot about selecting perfumes.

there is nothing marine and aquatic about it.It is soft, light, powdery fragrance(at least mine from Designers perfume).Bad lasting power ,bad sillage,smells chemically,but hey, not that i dont like it,I sure do,but i can live without it ,without a problem.!I kindda regret that i gave 25 euros for it.I bought it blind(again mistake )Nice bottle though It is a litle bit sour which i dont like

This gave me a burning sensation in the spot where it was applied. Also I was hoping for a lovely soft aquatic scent but was met with a harsh, unyielding one dimensional fragrance. Quite linear... Also masculine leaning. EDIT Pulled this out of storage and it has settled down. It no longer irritates my skin and has become softer. I get heliotrope and musk, no vanilla.

I received a sample of this recently after it being on my want list for years. The sample happened to be a vintage version when the perfume was created in Germany and still manufactured under Giorgio Beverly Hills. I didn’t really think too much about it until I smelled this soapy, detergent, sweet, sea air scent lingering that I really enjoyed. Thankfully, vintage versions are still pretty widely available and inexpensive. I got a 1.7 FL Oz vintage bottle and I have to say that I really love this. It’s nothing amazing, exotic, or groundbreaking. Being a child of the 90’s I really appreciate those fresh, minimalistic scents that defined that time. Ocean Dream is reminiscent of those scents such as Tommy Girl, Gap’s Dream, Cool Water, B&BW Gingham, the original Body by VS, as well as O by Lancome and flankers. Again, this type of scent is nothing new to me but when it’s done right it’s something that I go out of my way to pull from my collection. This is done right! The sillage is amazing because the fragrance itself feels so light and sheer that you almost feel as though it’s going to evaporate and slowly die away. This gently creeps up on me for hours and every time it does, it makes me happy. There’s one thing that was disappointing but it has nothing to do with the fragrance itself. The bottle I received has a defective spray nozzle. It sprays but only slightly and the rest of the fragrance leaks down the bottle and onto my hands. Is there a design flaw with the original bottles? I have seen this being the case with other vintage bottles listed. Either way I love this a lot more than I thought I would.

I really wanted this to be my signature scent for the pretty bottle, the fact that it was compared to Laura by Laura Biagiotti, and that it once was made by iconic Giorgio Beverly Hills in the 90s (launched in 1996, my birth year). I just don't like it as much as I hoped. I got the Designer Parfums LTD version, and some people say that it smells like it did in the 90s, and other people say the total opposite, I don't know what to believe. The sea notes are strong in this one, it smells like salt water and the beach. But it also smells like a hair product, like a salt water spray. I would have liked a salt water spray with this scent, but for a perfume alone it feels a little pointless if just sprayed on the body. I didn’t get much floral in the first spray, but then it became apparent as I got to know the fragrance more, and now I definitely think it smells floral especially in the dry down. It doesn't last for a very long time, sits very close to the skin. It would be interesting to try the EDP version! Overall it's a very pretty bottle that will go well on my vanity in the summer months. I can picture myself wearing this before going to the beach, because then I get the salt water hair look anyways and don't need an extra product.

So I got a teeny tiny tester of this for free with an ebay purchase like a year ago and threw it in a drawer and forgot about it. It looked old (as in dated) so at the time I wasn't too interested. But lately I've been more intrigued by older perfumes, and today I found the little vial in the drawer and decided to try it! At the time I didn't know anything about it whatsoever, but when I put it on it brought me back to the 90's! I then looked it up on fragrantica, and it makes sense now. Released in '96, and I was born in '93. I imagine this is what most women smelled like when I was a child, or something similar. I get powdery floral, with a hint of aquatic note, and that classic base of woods and vetiver. Funnily enough, this does remind me of church ladies from when I was little. However, I grew up attending a mormon church, and most of the ladies I remember weren't old grannies in pearls and fancy hats. They were mostly in their 30s-50s, modestly dressed, and lots of them had children around my age. So this makes me think of a mom getting dressed up on sunday to take her family to church! Haha. Inoffensive, slightly comforting, nostalgic.

I have been in love with this fragrance since I was in high school. I bought the body powder, which was sooo lovely. I was so upset when it was discontinued, and when it was re-released years later, I bought some, and it was still the same. I've even bought old gift sets off of ebay because I love it so much. It smells aquatic and not overly floral, but sweet with a little edge. If anyone is looking to find a similar fragrance to this these days, Lacoste Touch of Pink is extremely close, so you should give it a try if you haven't already. I have used it as an alternative to Ocean Dream for years now, in addition to the stash (old perfume, yuck, I know), I've collected from ebay.

I love this, I bought about 10 bottles of it with the lotion as well. I can see why some think its a young scent, but i dont think so. Its a fresh clean and utterly pleasant beachy ocean scent, perfect for summer, it always makes me feel happy when I wear it. Would be suitable for any ocassion, my husband loves it, and although it called a floral here, I have to say its more of an aquatic scent. Reminds me of TBS Oceanus.

What a superb scent! I love it! It's in the style of the 90s salty-aquatics but on a floral tangent. The orange blossom is quite pronounced: it's like wearing a tiny drop of Jean Paul Gaultier Classique on a layer of Escada Ocean Blue, yet the scent is lovely in its own right. I get the musk and maybe a bit of heliotrope. This is more than a beachy vacation scent: I think it suits any occasion. Pretty, pretty bottle.
