Amarige Mimosa de Grasse Millesime

I don't think that this smells synthetic either and the ingredients in this are meant to be top-notch and the finest of the harvest, hence the word "millésime." You can't get better and fresher ingredients than what a perfumer would put into this perfume. Mimosa is of course the main ingredient in this and this fragrance is definitely more yellow floral than the original Amarige is, which was more of a yellow/white floral with slightly more emphasis on the white floral component. There's definitely a white floral accord in this though with the zesty neroli and the sweet and creamy gardenia, one of my favorite flowers other than lily-of-the-valley! There's no tuberose, jasmine or especially black locust in this though, which are very strong and present notes in Amarige. I do get some of the light fruitiness you get in Amarige though with the plum, melon and peach in this perfume Amarige De Grasse Millésime though. They are just light touches which I really like here. Finally, I do get some woodiness from the rosewood in this and some green nuances and powdery nuances from the violet leaf. This is definitely more powdery than Amarige. There's a tiny bit of a vanilic character from the tonka bean and vanilla in the base too, but it's only very subtle. For me this perfume is more woody than the original Amarige but less woody than Amarige Harvest Mimosa 2007. It's also less yellow floral than Amarige Harvest Mimosa 2007, which I find is almost exclusively about the mimosa flower. Like others have said on here, this is a higher quality, more expensive smelling and subtler version of the lovely Amarige. I think that this version could be safe in an office with only a few light sprays. It has a moderate to fairly big projection, but it wouldn't choke anyone out. It also lasted about 61⁄2 hours on my skin and it had a powdery drydown on me. This perfume is super feminine and I think it could be worn in the spring and the fall during both night and day. It's a very classy and sophisticated perfume as well and I think that it is incredibly beautiful. I love the golden color of the liquid inside the bottle, the shape of the bottle, the way the weighty bottle feels in my hands, the pretty see-through and ruffled slanted cap, the little gold Givenchy tag with the gold cords at the nozzle of the fragrance, the little mimosas on the gold plate on the front of the perfume and the beautiful clear plastic box covered in sweet, darling and beautiful yellow mimosa flowers that this perfume comes in. The fragrance and the presentation of this fragrance makes me think of a beautiful spring day, when the bees are pollinating the flowers and children are out playing and smelling the flowers. It's very sunny and joyful! For all of the above I give this perfume a perfect 10/10 and I think that this is an absolute masterpiece I could easily recommend to anyone who loves florals. It's too bad it's been discontinued though :(

Wow! This is stunning. I could never handle Amarige as just too powerful but this beauty is another matter. Don't get me wrong this is no weed but just right for me. Not surprisingly it's mostly about the powdery mimosa. The pepperiness from the violet leaf but just the right amount. There's some intensity from the gardenia and then fruity sweetness from the plum and melon. I can't say I get an aquatic feel at all. For me mimosa is queen and she is being beautifully enhanced just enough by the other flowers and fruit notes. I am only aware of any vanilla, tonk and other wood notes after a few hours. I would wear this on formal occasions. A good sillage and longevity.

The notes section for Mimosa calls it nature's candy and that's exactly how this beautiful, naturally sweet scent smells to me on initial application. This fragrance is so unique and indescribably pretty. I only received it a few days ago and just got around to trying it after my shower tonight. The sweetness has subsided a little bit and now it smells as if I'm walking through a copse of Mimosa trees in full bloom on a breezy day. Simply lovely. This is going to be wonderful in the spring and summer.

I have not tried the original Amarige but I enjoy Amarige Mariage greatly. The juice of this one is a warm, pale orange, and the scent in my mind is bright yellow and a bit green. Very happy floral, heady and sparkling. If I didn't look at the listed notes on Fragrantica I would not pick up anything but pure mimosa, from opening to drydown. Does what it says on the tin. It's too lovely for me to wear personally.

@Forbiddenjade Cashmeran or cashmeran velvet (more animalic) aren't really sweet. These musks are responsible for the impression of soft cashmere/mohair wool, cozy, enveloping feeling in the fragrance. What you describe as clinging and nauseatingly sweet would rather fit ethyl maltol, a very powerful aroma chemical that has been used and abused excessively in recent years in multitude of fragrances on the market, especially those from Mugler. Ethyl maltol also has some soft "cottony" aspect similar to that of cashmeran, which is why they are often being used in combination. Synthetic materials are by no means worse than naturals, when it comes to overall quality of a composition. Quite the opposite, they are usually more radiant, powerful, "clean" and of greater stability. Some synthetics are also pretty expensive. When it comes to the final outcome, it's always a question of skills of the perfumer in the first place rather than the materials used. Perfume industry could not exist without synthetic aroma molecules, and on today's market majority of fragrances you like or love consist of mostly synthetic materials, with just minuscule amount of naturals in a supporting role.

This is like an Eau de Toilette version of Amarige. Some of the bones are there but it's more subdued less flowery less fruity and less intense. It's still a fruity floral but it's softer and more delicate. It's also more innocent. Mimosa is the dominant floral accord. It has a bright sunny cheerful quality that reminds me of the opening to Dior's J'adore. The mimosa here is so pretty. The other flower scents include violet (or violet leaves) and gardenia. The fruits include peach plum and melon. Juicy sweet and delicious but nowhere near the fruit touches in Amarige. It's also weak and lasts a short time. The dry down is pure vanilla. If you like Amarige but find it too be strong hunt this one down. I found it on Amazon.com but I'm not sure if they still have any more available. Very pretty perfume.

With all due respect, anything created chemically to be used in fabric conditioners will NEVER again get near my skin. Also, cashmeran doesn't smell much like natural musk. I have and have had fragrances containing both natural and synthetic ingredients but cashmeran makes me sick to my stomach - it is to many people a nausea inducing, sweet undertone incredibly aggressive and persistent. I couldn't care less for what others may say, since younger generations seem to have lost sense of smell all together and can withstand, while barely registering, the most obnoxious notes. Hmmm - really surprised to see cashmeran in this, mainly because it is a "fantasy-ingredient", a synthetic one created in lab as in nature nothing produces it. It's used in fabric conditioners for its clingy property, and to amplify floral notes. I had issues with it - almost all Mugler's creations have it as ingredient and it really clings onto the skin, like a tiger, nauseatingly sweet, for days. Pity to see so many houses using a cheap, synthetic ingredient in their creations, charging hefty price tags for the (un)pleasure. Was thinking of buying, will now definitely not.

@forbiddenjade In addition to everything @andrewatic so eloquently and knowledgeably said (thank you!), you should know that literally all of the perfumes you’ve listed as your favorites use hefty doses of aromamolecules. They’re unavoidable nowadays, unless you go with niche natural perfumes, which are great, but often less financially accessibly than mainstream/designer scents due to the high price of natural ingredients. They also don’t last nearly as long.

Wow...this thread got out of hand for no reason. If you look elsewhere, there is no cashmeran note at all in this. I own it. I know what cashmeran smells like and I don't like that scent either....this perfume is a very natural, beautiful mimosa scent...that's what a millisme is...🤓....the best of the crop and highest quality ingredients....lol...no cashmere...well worth owning...

Does anyone know where I could purchase this please? I really love something about the original version however it's just that bit too strong and I would love to try this. I just can't find it anywhere. I would also love to get some testers of the other Amarige scents if anyone knows how! thank you

Have to agree- it is very much Amarige but a smoother, better version. Absolutely lovely when it settles; subtly sweet, the gentle mimosa comes to the foreground. There is something watery in the background and it's less overwhelming than amarige...a must for floral lovers!

Ho provato questo profumo alla Rinascente di Milano... buonissimo!!! La mimosa è ben dosata, non è asfissiante come capita spesso nei profumi a lei dedicati. Preferisco questo al classico Amarige.

I'm not even a 'floral' girl, I'm decidedly 'oriental', but I LOVE this. Bought up all I could find on eBay and have it carefully tucked away so I will never be without it.
