Ambre Tigré

A dear friend purchased Ambre Tigre for me at Harrods London and flew it back to me here in Australia. It was essentially a very expensive blind buy, but I am happy to report that I am not disappointed! First impressions; GORGEOUS! A quality amber, it does not scream "I am Givenchy", rather, it mingles in the same circle as a lot of other high quality ambers by today's niche houses. I am not feeling too much vanilla, it floats ever so softly in the background, Amber is the star of the show. A 'grown-ups', creamy, slightly raw, smokey, sexy amber. Initial spray is rather sweet, strong and boozy (which I love) and it takes a little time to warm up and settle on the skin, peaking at around half an hour into application. The dry-down is a touch resinous, with a whisper of dry, sweetish powder to finish. Longevity is quite good, upwards of 3 hours on me. I highly recommend it to amber lovers : )

Got this for $60 for a full 100ml at Barney's store closing. It's a powdery, animalic amber. Some sweetness but it's also dry. I find it fully unisex and perfect for a winter night. This is a pretty linear scent. It starts soft and amber-y and some rawness but it settles quickly to a soft, classy, powdery amber. Like a higher class Prada Amber base. It's very light and airy but it still projects off the skin for hours. I get about 6-7 hours longevity which is above-average for me. A 7.75/10 for me. It's not worth $220 retail but at 1/4 of that, I was happy with my purchase. I'd probably pass unless heavily discounted but worth a sniff!

A gorgeous Oriental fragrance comprised of vanilla, and a resinous amber. The perfect gourmand for lovers of vanilla. While wearing two sprays of Ambre Tigré, I was in a co-worker's office talking with her. When I returned to my desk, my co-worker messaged me and wrote that another female co-worker walked by her office and said "Ohhhh someone's perfume smells good." So projection is low (within arm's length) but apparently sillage in motion is very good. Longevity was around 8 hours on my skin. Ambre Tigré can be worn for any occasion during the Spring, Autumn and Winter seasons. 9/10

An impressive amber that starts off surprisingly animalic for a western scent. The cistus has some nice funk in the opening to make you feel like a tiger. Beyond that, it's your classic amber profile complete with a nice vanilla. There's a slight floralcy that manifests from the labdanum which is a nod to the quality of the floral material itself. The nose is Alex Dadier. ---‐--------------------------------‐-------------------- Top shelf labdanum dominant amber. Scent 90/100

Oh Boy! I went to Harrods to try the Bois Martial and left with Ambre Tigre. It was love at first sniff. I absolutely love this fragrance. It is spicy and slightly sweet, long lasting but not overpowering. It is claasy and modern at the same time. If you like amber frags have a go at this one. I already have 3 from this range. I started with Gaiac Mystique which I love and Oud Flamboyant which is very nice but this one is so far my favourite.

This is good. My girlfriend said it smells like an inside whiskey pie if you could have made one . Is boozy ,powdery ,vanilla like.

Smooth, soft, creamy, fluffy and gorgeous amber vanilla. Definitely sweet but not too sweet, not a gourmand in any way. Wasn't sure about it at first, but even though it is a bit on the quiet side there is nothing sharp or unpleasant about it and it does not feel too much at all. It is definitely growing on me. It has a very classy and expensive feel and I can imagine it will be really nice in autumn and maybe even winter. Got it at a massive discount and still feel that was a bit too much for what it is, but I am 100% keeping it!

I got a decant and I am certain it will last for a long time. It is such a good quality, that a little dab goes a long way. I expected something loud and bold. It is a comfy, soothing scent. Vanilla is detectable, yet it never turns Ambre Tigré a sweet perfume. Vanilla makes it rounder, smoother and even more creamy than it was at the beginning. Beautiful winter go to scent, warm and feminine. Reminds me of a fireplace lit at night, yellow and orange flames flickering and me sat on a comfy sofa with a cuppa. Bliss

Amazing! Quite oriental at first, intense & bold, intoxicating, dynamic. A scent for a lioness - I've thought. However, when it settles down, it's completely, deeply comforting. Warm and sexy, better than any words can describe.

Nice, but nothing special or unique.

I tried the whole L'Atelier line at the Galleria Neiman Marcus in Houston, Texas while I was there on a visit. A representative was there to give me the PR b.s. (I worked in cosmetics for a long time and I don't have the patience for the spiels anymore.) She was very nice, I just wanted to explore the line at my leisure, but she hovered. As I was trying them, the ones I thought would appeal to me - cuir, chypre, bois - all were negatives. I tried the florals - Neroli Originale was pleasant but hardly original and the same with Ylang Austral. I seemed most attracted to the Ambre Tigré. I thought I had a winner. Those boozy top notes hooked me, but I was cautious enough not to purchase and the rep gave me a little scented "button" that was part of the marketing. I slipped this into my small handbag and with the other sample cards that I had slipped into other pockets in order to try to keep them from mixing. Well, for the rest of the short trip and the flight home, I kept opening my handbag and I kept wondering where this huge waft of powerful amber musk kept coming from (I'm forgetful in my old age). Then I get home and after dumping out my bags, found the little peach-colored culprit. Whatever musk Givenchy used in that base, it is NUCLEAR! It wiped out the smell of all my other scented cards (including some Chanels, Tom Fords, and the new Diana Vreeland line) and it kept making my eyes water. I had to throw it out because it was taking over any room it was in. I may have even appreciated the power and longevity before I got home, but any time after that the smell just made me angry because it took over everything. I suppose Ambre Tigré is an appropriate name, but this isn't named after the sublimely beautiful and endangered panthera tigris, this is for the human species of the Housewife of New Jersey variety.

This was very hard to find but I finally found some at Selfridges to test. I heard Harrods have the latest batch in their very luxurious Perfume Parlour too. Opening was a sweet but semi-saffronic amber that quickly gave way to a furry musk with hints of rose. The amber is not like the HDP's 114, there is seems very faintly 'saffronated' , just a bit different. Tigre is more aggressive an animalic (as it should be I am guessing). The drydown is vague but still bold, sweet and loses the animalic edge and turns more vaguely powdery I need further testing,, it seems a fall/winter scent only sadly - and another -ve of course is that like many ambers it is pretty linear Overall rating: 7/10

Vanilla amber... This one is nice, as it is almost direct vanilla and amber and i think they brought it back with a different name & bottle shape as most of Givenchy's sellers keeps on telling me this. I'm not sure which one, but it's either "Enflammé", or maybe "Foudroyant" or "Faux Semblant" but mostly could be "Enflammé". The cooldown smells similar to "Indecence". Edit: It is identical to "Enflamme" and basically it was named "Indecence", then named "Ambre Tigré" then now named "Enflamme".

Je viens de me procurer une bouteille c’est un chef-d’œuvre c’est un des plus belles ambres qui a été créé pour moi pour ceux qui adorent l’ambre . C’est vraiment un très bon parfum 10/10 on sent vraiment labdanum l ambe et vanille chaud alcoolisée et animal, je ne comprends pas qu’ils ont arrêté un si beau Parfum
