Dahlia Noir Le Bal Eau de Parfum

I couldn't agree with PerfumeEmpress more. And as insult to injury, these designers are literally spray vomiting the market with "eau de fraiche" aka "expensive water" flankers, for relatively recent fragrance lines that were already laughably weak to begin with! I've had Barbie dolls in the early 90's that came with little perfume bottles with more lasting power than what's being peddled to us nowadays. It makes me sad to see younger reviewers complimenting a new fragrance for it's longevity, praising the three to four hours of wear that they got out of it. In the late 90's to early 2000's (which is NOT that long ago..) all I had to do was spray my pulse points and neck in the morning, go about my day, come home and still smell warm bursts of my fragrance wafting off of me in the shower later that night. My fiance who's been subjected to this hobby of mine made the observation once that it's often the best fragrances that have the plainest bottles. He was of course referring to his favorites, the Channels, Narciso Rodriguez For Her, Joop Femme, etc. Fragrances that lasted and made impressions, one way or another. Everything being churned out nowadays is all grotesquely designed water filled bottles, and of course, the coattail riding of popular scents with an unlimited supply of 'all you can eat' "McFlankers". Laziness and greed, made possible by disturbingly efficient marketing (no doubt this is where the money goes, certainly not to fragrance development..) and a younger consumer base content to spray themselves with expensive mediocrity, because they simply don't know, or remember a time when fragrances were any better. Designers are really just investors anyway, more concerned with their rate of return than in the creation of art, or even quality. If this business model spills over into the fashion and clothing industries, we're really screwed! And just so you know, I'm only 33. So these aren't the grumbles of a jaded grandma! Ok, I'm done now. *sighs*

I absolutely and whole-heaterdly agree with Joao, who complained about flankers. ENOUGH WITH THE FLANKERS! Perfume companies are just getting much too complacent and all they do is spew flanker after flank after flanker. Come on, guys! Get off your lazy bums and get creative. Don't tell me they don't have the money for it! In my opinion, this is sure laziness on their part. Take a scent, add a different ingredient or two, make slight changes to the packaging, and voila, a "novelty." NOT!

I AGREEEE!! Sick of weak perfumes and flankers. Not one contemporary fragrance can last more than a working day! (8 hours) i always need to reapply; no sillage, weak projection seriously what the heck??? only 10 years ago a perfume had a presence and an undeniable aura, now its just blaaaah. And today's young audience dont know any better. sick of the noir trend and the intense versions and the eau... really come on!
