Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy Ambre Velours

Lately I have been buying with more analysis and prior testing. I ordered a sample of the eaudemoiselle Bois de Oud first, and while I did like it, it was only a like. Based off that, I figured, correctly so, that I would like this better. I'm sort of surprised Oud isn't a note here! It may be my untrained nose getting confused with the Tolu balsam mixed with patch. It could easily be unisex, in my opinion. It is to brown as Poison is to purple, if that makes any sense. The initial spray is spicy and pungent and slightly masculine to me. I like it but in an "oh, that's an interesting start!" I'm very into balsamic scents, but this have zero sweetness to it, unlike some others I enjoy. The dry down is where this gets me, I love it. It is still very gender neutral but there is a softness to it without being girly or matronly. The plum and Rose become more discernible yet they are not the stars of the show by any means. But it almost becomes like fresh woods on my skin about 45 minutes into it and possesses a unique charm that I am falling for. It is like an addiction because I keep wanting more more more, and even of the top notes. Sillage is about two feet and longevity is above average on me. I don't have to cram my nose into my wrist to smell t, even eight hours later. It's very rare that I only wear one scent at a time, and even though this can stand alone very nicely, I love to pair it with a darker lily (Lys Carmin) or spicy ylang sometimes too. Even with Songes, I'm happy with the combos. It is still quite warm where I live and I know I'm using this "off season," but I am thrilled to have it and know it will be even better come winter. The bottle is really nice too. I was able to score a 100ml bottle for a total steal of $40 online. This is sure to make many appearances this fall and winter! Burning roses with a dense spicy, woody amber background. The rose here is very deep and velvety, the drydown reveals a multilayered resinous amber. You can feel the opoponax, the benzoin, the tolu balsam....you get some patchouli too. The cedar note is prominent on my skin, and makes this very unisex. This is a gorgeous fragrance. It took me a long time to find a decently priced bottle but I am very thankful and got a full bottle. This is just marvelous.

Very animalic to me in the opening. Loved it. Was surprised at the power. Then about 10 minutes later much softer and sweetness starts to come out for me. As archivist said, it is comparable to Amber Mystique. I like this one better as for an overall scent.......Mystique is almost TOO dry for me. But Mystique has better sillage and longevity for certain. Has me thinking about layering them a little to find the right balance!

I tried this on again today and the dry down smelled like something I had smelled before. I couldn't put my finger on it and asked my husband if he could place it. Well he could and as soon as he told me, I got it also. It is the smell of nitro methane you get from a funny car drag race. I haven't been to one in over 35 years, but I remember the smell. It smells great up until that point.

Oooh yeah.....I really like this. It's a bit weird, with the burnt undertone (which I love!), and the lovely sweet rose and plum; but the best part for me is the splendid amber tone all through it. Very sticky and sweet and delicious. Beautiful strong and long lasting. Gorgeous bottle. I love it.

A dark, smoky, juicy, sultry rose. I am surprised there is no oud in it. It feels oudy. If you want to get rid of a bottle or even a decant - I am your girl! :-) please pm me.

A definitely winter perfume not for the hot weather. Nice and crazy long lasting power.

What a great and chic perfume. I am so thrilled to finally have it in my collection. I usually don't like roses, because sometimes rose reminds me of religious places which is not my favorite😉. Because of this, I was uncertain whether to buy this perfume or not. Unfortunately there was not a tester in the shop, so I made a risk and decided to have a blind buy. 😊 Well, let me tell you : this is a great perfume. It is so classy. It is suited for official meetings. It reminds me of a serious lady who is very elegant and different. 💖 Fortunately rose in this perfume is not in the form of religious type and is not strong at all. This perfume is mostly a balsamic (made of resins) perfume with a slight hint of plum, rose and patchouli. I quite like it and really satisfied with my purchase. This perfume is rare nowadays, but I recommend it to all the ladies who want to have intensify and show their power. این عطر رو با ترس و لرز بلایندبای کردم. چیزی که باعث شد بهش علاقمند بشم، شیشه خوشگلش بود و رنگ جذابی که داشت و موردی که باعث نگرانیم بود، گل رز بود که در این عطر به کار رفته. حقیقت این هست که علیرغم علاقم به عطر رز طبیعی، ولی در عطرها، اکثراً رز یک حالت مذهبی و دم حرمی رو واسم تداعی میکنه که این سبک از روایح اصلاً مورد علاقم نیستن. دقیقاً به همین دلیل نسبت به خرید این عطر تردیدهای بسیاری داشتم. متاسفانه تستری هم از این عطر در مغازه موجود نبود. این عطر شنیدم دیسکانتینیو شده و فقط به صورت محدود در یک دوره تولید شده. این آخرین موجودی این عطر در مغازه بود که فروشنده اجازه نداد ازش اسپری کنم. خلاصه با ترس و لرز خریدمش و خانم فروشنده هم گفت پشیمون نمیشی. وقتی رفتم خونه و اولین اسپری رو زدم، کمی صبر کردم و بوی خوش این عطر تقریباً شگفت‌زدم کرد. این عطر از اون عطرهای لوس و فانتزی دخترونه نیست. برعکس، یک عطر جدی و دارای کاراکتر هست که به خانمهای شیک‌پوش و باکلاس که دوست دارن متفاوت باشن توصیه میکنم به خریدش فکر کنن. رز در این عطر اصلاً حالت دم حرمی و مذهبی نداره. این عطر بیشتر یک عطر صمغی (بالزامیکی) هست که از صمغ‌های گوناگون تشکیل شده (و مقدار اندکی پچولی که تلخی ملایم ولی باکلاسی به عطر میده) و البته رز هم در اون پشت، گاهی خودش رو نشون میده؛ اما به صورتی بسیار خاص و متفاوت و زیبا. مقداری رایحه آلوی سیاه رو هم در پس‌زمینه حس میکنم. یک عطر جدی، نه خیلی تلخ، نه شیرین... یک عطر باکلاس و متفاوت. حدس می‌زنم افرادی که از عطرهایی در سبک شالیمار و فلنکرهای اون خوششون میاد، از این عطر هم خوششون بیاد حقیقتاً باید بگم که خودم خیلی از این عطر خوشم اومد و جزء پنج یا ده عطر برتری شد که در کالکشنم دارم. امیدوارم توضیحاتم تونسته باشه کمکی به شما کرده باشه برای گرفتن تصمیم منطقی

I approached Eaudemoiselle de Givenchy Ambre Velours, expecting it to share some common traits with Estée Lauder Amber Mystique. However, on me, it turns out almost identical to Kenzo Madly Oud Collection. Comparing Eaudemoiselle Ambre Velours, Kenzo Madly Oud and Amber Mystique alongside each other, seems to further confirm, on me, the similarity between the first two, especially during the first few hours. During the drydown, Amber Mystique does converge with the other two as a sweet amber and rose with oud nuance. But the opening of Amber Mystique seems more about pure amber with medicinal nuances. The sillage is moderate and the longevity is around 9 hours. Considering the odds of skin chemistry, my expereince may not be universal. However, if you're interested in either one of Eaudemoiselle Amber Velours and Kenzo Madly Oud, but having trouble finding it, I stil think it worths a shot trying the other.

This is a lighter, more feminine and more sutle version of S.T. Dupont Oud et Rose. Much more expensive though!! Almost double the price. I loved Eaudemoisselle de Givenchy Ambre Veloure more, although I wished it had stronger longivity. I can clearly smell Oud in it, although Fragrantica's listing does not mention any Oud notes.. Both sillage and longivity are average.. For this high priced perfume, I honestly expected more than this.. Dupont Oud el Rose on the other hand, has enormous sillage and super longivity. I love both perfumes, but its definitely not an everyday scent.. It is rather unconventional, and you really have to be a big fan of heavy oriental perfumes; namely Oud and Ambre to appreciate this perfume.

very balmy,very intense and full of amber,somehow earthy with traces of patchouli.not the kind of perfume for every girl,but definitely nice for strong women and good option for those who are tired of floral perfume and looking for some non-floral aromas.I consider it unisex and classic but it's neither too strong nor offensive like so many of classic perfumes I've smelt. it definitely has nothing to do with original Eaudemoiselle,but they share one characteristic;they are both classy and somehow classic.

Opens with something plastic-rubbery, I'm not enjoying it, but thankfully it disperses within the hour to allow a woody, vanillic note (benzoin?) to emerge. The amber is light, reminding me of Dior's Ambre Nuit, and the patchouli of Bois d'Argent in that line. The delicate touch, and lack of sugar n spice, again, very much like the above. Refreshing, softly comforting - if you can get past the first half hour of Pedigree toy fresh plastic. Liking the dry-down though.

You are unique, you are aware of it and you know nothing will ever be able to compare to you. If only you had the time. Paints the image of burning wood, a mirage and roses. Deeply vampiric in a north african type of way. Embraces the darkness and leaves her house when the datura outside unfurl. She is lusty, she is hungry and she gets away with it.

I really enjoy this frag, doesnt have much to do with the original eaudemoiselle, which is a good thing for me, I liked that one less than this version. I'm confused for the velour part, unless they meant the plum, which is quite realistic, you can smell the plum-peel.

Wow! This must be a winter fragrance. All the notes seem to be "heavy", but we'll see. The bottle and its color looks awsome BTW.

smelled it at sephora Dubai Mall ,, not bad theres something annoying a bit about the smell. Bois de oud is much better .

Amazing scent! Sugared rose with a burnt undertone,which is the Oud. My bf loved this scent on me.

This sounds great - I cannot wait to try it. I hope it lives up to the recipe.
