Fleur d'Interdit

This review is for a vintage flacon, pre-reformulation. What a beautiful scent! Fleur d'Interdit opens with a soapy note, which quickly fades into a subtle blend of fruity flowers. Typically hyacinth notes produce a sharp, overwhelming green note. Here, that note is soft, tempered, and plays a supporting role to the lilac, cyclamen, and rose. Lily of the valley can be detected, but does not overwhelm. Raspberry and watermelon show up softly, adding a touch of juiciness to FdI. I think this is one of the prettiest floral scents I've ever experienced. It is summer in a bottle, addictive, superlative. Normally florals have to be quite harsh to stay on my skin. FdI is soft, rich, almost creamy in its complexity, and stays beautifully. There is no harshness here, just lush, soft florals and fruit. This is not a girly scent, Fleur d'Interdit has dignity and depth, but is too fresh to be considered mature. However, those who love very sweet, perfumey florals and gourmands may not care for it. This is one of those rare florals that has the complexity of an oriental without the spice. It is delicate without being weak- but does require spritzes be layered to produce good longevity. I find that normal application (1 spray to each wrist and 1 on my throat) disappears within an hour. However, if I wait about 20 minutes and apply again, the scent stays all day. There is something about layering the scent while my skin is still absorbing the original application that produces the best sillage and staying power. In the dry down the iris, violet, orchid and heliotrope appear. Rather than the typical powdery note, in Fleur these blossoms present a velvety tone, deep and rich. I do not detect any oakmoss, which is typically too masculine for me. Nice sillage, soft enough for office wear. FdI is a gentle, enveloping scent. Not boring, but also unlikely to offend. I am quite pleased to have obtained this. This is also the prettiest bottle in my collection- just lovely! Inside and out :) EDIT: I have just purchased a 100mL vintage flacon to back up my 50mL. I believe this will be a spring/summer signature for me. If you haven't tried this, I strongly recommend it.

i loved it when i first smelled it on seventeen magazine sample. that was in 1996. in 1997 i had the chance to buy this at a very cheap price but the salesday offered me versus versace at the same price. i chose to buy the latter which smelled like a very strong cough syrup! years later, i looked for fleur d'interdit everywhere but couldnt find it, only to find out that it had been discontinued. i had my chance to own this perfume and i regret not grabbing that chance. now, im still on what seemed like a life long search for this perfume. why did they discontinue this special fragrance when so many people wanted it. they say you'll never forget your first love. you may meet many others but your first love will always have a special place in your heart. well, i have the same sentiments for this perfume. i fell in love with so many perfumes but i will never forget FLEUR D' INTERDIT. it was love at first smell.

Fleur d'Interdit is magnificent! It is very floral, sweet, but light at same time. I am actualy using the second flacon of 100ml. When I first discovered it, I was 23 and I felt it was much suitable for me that time. Now, 15 years later, I keep usng it during the day, in summertime (or springtime), as it makes me feel younger. Fleur d'Interdit, rather than a Forbitten Flower reminds you of a timid one. That is part of its magic and makes it useful for young women as well.

what's not to love about this fragrance! I think it is a wonderful fragrance and probably one of my favorites. I bought this fragrance 20-30 years ago whenever it came out and I wish I had bought up every bottle I could have back then. now I buy them when I can find them on the Internet. If I had to go to heaven with just a handful of fragrances this would definitely be one I would take with me. it has all my favorite florals and scents and this fragrance.

Nothing innocent and nostalgic like this i wish if they reproduce it again soft silky feminin i really miss it so much fruity strawberry melon combined with iris and violet notes were like heaven full of fairies I miss it soooooo much such a masterpiece god bless those days wehn perfumes were really good and remarkable they stay alive in your memory till now no kidding no copy dna only creativity and respect to women taste

I'm crazy about it ! I recently bought a bottle on the web , now it's impossble to find it at a reasonable price. Romantic , floral, subtle , but definitely NOT boring !It's complex unlike the usual girl scent , and that's why it's different. It has probably been discontinued because nowadays the younger girls (which this scent had been designed for)like more the very sweet and tacky scent .

Este fue mi primer amor. Mi mamá lo tenía y yo le sacaba a escondidas un poquito para olerlo hasta que me lo regaló cuando la botella estaba casi vacía por lo tanto lo usé solo en ocasiones especiales cuando era niña. Es una pena que ya no exista por que era el perfume frutal más perfecto que podía haber, recuerdo el melón en este perfume y se me hace agua la boca!!

Ok the sense of smell is a matter of personal experience but how on earth we compare it to Issey Miyake Woman, a pioneer aquatic, slightly salty freshie. This one was a masterpiece and a precious flower garden with hints of pure, still waters. 80’s glamorous, powdery flowers were still present in Jardin d’Interdit’s DNA. Aaaah how I miss her.

My parents bought this for me in my childhood as a present, whilst beeing on a vocation. Twelve years later I still have this fragrance, and each time I use it, I go back in time. Fleur d'Interdit is a very feminine scent. The flowery,fruity notes make this perfume smell innocent, young, fresh and lovely.

A beautiful well-blended fresh floral. Classic, sheer, work-appropriate, and feminine. It has a nice balance of floral, green, and a touch of water. Is more green and has an overall deeper quality than its equally- beautiful sister perfume, Jardin d'Interdit. Lovely!

It's like a warm hug from Mom. Very vintage. I pair this sweet, sweet floral( top notes are gone in my vintage, 10 minutes of nail polish remover) with skater dresses and converse sneakers and enjoy the confusion. Stay interesting lovies!

I used to have the largest bottle of this one as an early 20's girl, but I decided to give my bottle away. Just yesterday I was wondering if I would feel the same way about it, if I would smell it again now. Myabe I would love it now.

This perfume reminds me of the lovely times I had with the love of my life; he used to love it as much as I did! Floral and fresh, it was so feminine, I really wish it was still on the market :(

This is my first perfume of my life. When i was young i used it with my sister. But now I want to buy I cant. It's discontinued.

I used this years ago and remember it with pleasant feelings. Such a nice floral scent. So enjoyable to wear. I love it.

First perfume I owned - loved it...

What a beautifully feminine fragrance this was. And I do mean WAS because I have no idea what it may smell like nowadays since there has been quite a trend of perfumes being reformulated. My body chemistry seemed to like this one. It made me feel like the sun, providing heat for the flowers to actually bloom. The scent, on its own, was too subtle to be in any ways potent. This translates as "forbidden flower" and yes...at my 20 years of age, I was too...so this was a bit of a personal landmark for me. It is the scent of something so serene in its solace, unpolluted by material concerns or competition, without worries, blissfully enjoying the sweet fruits of independence and leisure. When I think of this fragrance I think of perpetual spring. Soft caressing breezes carrying the scent of blooms from lush, well manicured gardens. This wasn't a wild fragrance. It was the scent that brought me visions of a garden that was strategically and passionately created for beauty, aroma, color, harmony and serenity...Monet's garden at Giverny (google images). The sillage was just as ripe as the perfume itself...airy, sweeet, elegant and fresh. I will agree that it isn't a seducer's potion, nor something that had the potential to be a signature scent. But to me, it was a fragrance that was akin to a moment in your life that is meant to be experienced only once. So it is only as precious as you make it out to be.
