Gentleman (2017)

I don't think I am smart enough to sort out the names of these fragrances. Givenchy Gentleman, Gentleman Givenchy, Pervy Gentleman, Grumpy Gentleman, Gentleman Jerk, Gentleman Not Really. What the hell??!!! Enough: Gentleman Givenchy another super positive review!! I just love this fragrance in every way. I have only recently started to try to understand the Pear Note. I owned several minis of this and loved the scent not knowing the notes. I bought a full bottle. I tote the minis. Yes. . we love it and pump it up often. Well. . . this is such a beautiful Pear. (You have such a dirty mind.) It turns out on the open, a delightful Pear Note asserts itself. And yes, it is synthetic. In my opinion, it would almost have to be as smelling a real pear fruit yields a delicate, semi-mineral- with -fruit scent, and the scent of the seeds themselves. It is too mild to hit hard enough to make a fragrance--at least for me. So we have a really good synthetic Pear. I am so happy because I wrote a snarky review on Galavant Bukara because the Pear was too mild. Multiple reviewers characterized it as a 'Carrot' scent and only after some dry down did it become more 'Pear-like' but so hard to really get it. Gentleman Givenchy does Pear really good. About the Pineapple it is right there--then it is gone. Aside on Iris: Terms like dry, powdery, baby powder are not useful to me in understanding Iris. Just got a sample of Iris from Ohrmonde Jane and I am trying to grasp it. The Ohrmonde Jane sample really expresses Iris so well. You can tell I am having trouble grasping Iris. Iris is more a feeling, a quality than a unabashed scent. It seems to change the texture of the scent cloud as you sniff it. Iris makes it feel heavier and thicker--the air itself. Weird. This Iris is really interesting!!! In the mix: Gentleman Givenchy does seem to have some kind of green, plant-smell. Maybe it is the Geranium. I know that Lolita Lempika uses Ivy--of all things--and I love Lolita Lempika. (It is a fun elegant fragrance line with highly advanced notes. It is under-rated I think. Lolita Lempika Cherry is just a popping hot one. Tom Ford Lost Cherry, then Lempika picked it up!!! Lolita Lempika Au Masculine has some Anise in it. Don't be tied to some perception, Lempika is so much fun. What is elegant? What is cool and edgy? What is sexy? The WEARER. The smell goes with you. We want you and the smell is just the cherry on top.) We are now 'riding the drydown'. I have two squirts on the flat of each arm. I don't do wrists because I wear things like watches and it can irritate. This fragrance settles close to the skin leaving a faint residual about four inches from the surface. Again, there is a mysterious offset to any sweetness. I believe it is the Leather. Nice Leather--doesn't beat you up. A really subtle hue of Patchouli is barely there. What do we have overall? A fresh open with best Pear Note. A green plant-like hint in the dry down. So natural. Some sweetness from Pear, Pineapple--maybe the mysterious Iris is somewhat sweet. A final base of Leather is the counterpoint to sweetness. Fragrance does not really last that long. It is so elegant, hot and deeply personal. Carry a decant, or a really low profile cosmetic or man-bag. Pump this right before you go in. Hot

Givenchy Gentleman EDT is my daily driver fragrance, if not what I would consider to be a signature scent. (I'd consider the Gentleman EDP to my personal 'signature'; the EDP's fragrance notes are a bit more unique than this, and it performs better overall, likely due to the nature of EDP vs EDT). If you've worn the EDP (Not to be confused with the EDP Boisee), you'll likely find the fragrances quite similar. Though where the EDP evolves into something smoky and spicy, this EDT settles into much more powdery and clean notes and is much better suited for daytime than its EDP counterpart. (Since they have similar base notes, though, I love to start my day with this EDT and freshen up with the EDP for the evening). Gentleman EDT wears fairly close to the skin and settles into its floral, powdery base notes after about 45-60 minutes, fading after 4 hours or so. Some would write this off as poor performance, but I'd disagree with that. It's certainly no fragrance bomb, but it's an eau de toilette, so it's not really supposed to be. Two or three sprays of this is perfect for a safe, inoffensive choice at the office or an afternoon out, but you're bound to get compliments throughout the day. I think the most prominent notes here are the iris, lavender, and vanilla, which sounds like something that would veer feminine, but the scent is closer to clean laundry in the best way. Where I've found the much woodsier Gentlemen Only line to wear a bit more middle-aged, the floral forward notes here feel more modern and a bit more youthful, though still adult and sophisticated (I think this is ideal for those in their late 20's/30's, unless you find powder scents to be... elderly.) There's some hints of spiciness due to the cardamom and toasty vanilla, so you might write this off as a fall/winter fragrance, but with the slight notes of pear and pineapple at the top, you could easily pull this off throughout most of the year--barring the hottest of summer days and trips to the beach. I wouldn't consider it a particularly casual EDT like some blue/sport fragrances, but that's to be expected with the Gentleman name, and due to the clean floral notes, it doesn't feel too out of place with jeans and a t-shirt. As expected, it's another stellar fragrance from Givenchy--water is wet, the sky is blue, Givenchy fragrances are absolutely gorgeous--and if you're a fan of other fragrances in the Gentleman line, you'll almost certainly love this one as well. Givenchy Gentleman, in my humble opinion, is one of the finest lines of designer fragrances available on the market, performing moderately to extremely well with scents that are unique enough to stand out from the crowd without being difficult to wear.

I had this back in '22 and i have to review it. NOTHING to see with the OG Gentleman. I don't see any issue regarding this. It ain't a reformulation, nor will it replace the OG. Anyways: On me opens up with the juicy pear, a bright cardamom, lavender, a bit of pineapple in the back, extremely synthetic like Invictus or such. (Not that they're similar by any means) After a few minutes, the iris comes into play, backed by powdery vanilla and a leather accord rather closer - smelling to suede, with a dominant violet / ionones nuance, slight castoreum and a smooth labdanum, ambery base. Patchouli and geranium are pretty much inexistant. I consider it a leather - based, iris / vanilla, very powdery and fruity scent. I kept a 15ml decant of it eversince, smells really nice, leaving aside the synthetic opening. I always find that on Firmenich ingredient - based scents, brutally synthetic openings and much better drydowns, same as Bentley For Men and all the Gentleman line. I see it mainly masculine, sensual, attractive, very versatile. I still think this could be better used for a fancy dinner or dating. Best climates for it are spring through summer and fall. Winter, i don't see it being great for cold, unless you live in a place where Christmas and New Year's Eve are at 70 - 80 degrees. As alternatives, CH Men Privé is heavier and better for colder climates, and Banderas' The Icon EDP is a great banger for around a third of the price and uses better ingredients. I don't know which of them i prefer, i like them all. I really dig this Bel Ami - like leather accord, rather reminiscent of suede, used in this warm spice and liquor - forward context. Maybe i'll get another bottle, even when disliking heavily the opening. XD By the way, cannot really complain onto performance. It's solid. 6 - 9 hours. On clothing, a couple of days, moderate projection. I think sometimes (Or always) people want just way too much performance. Dude, 4 or 5 hours is more than enough. Blessings

The notes I get: Such an amazing scent. It opens with the fresh green apple. I know the note list says pear, and some reviewers pick up pineapple. But to me the pear is similar to the fresh green apple note in Hugo by Hugo Boss (or a less sweet Layton by PdM).. It's a gorgeous crisp fruity opening with an added zing from the spicy cardamom. The iris and cardamom are immediately noticeable, but become more pronounced in the mid. The iris is more palatable and perhaps less "make-up bag" than the EDP and what is typical of the Dior Homme line. If you don't like the iris in those then definitely give this a try. The patchouli and leather are never overtly noticeable. Rather, they serve to smooth out the sweetness and poudery aspects of the fruity and iris notes. This is a fruity iris scent that starts out with a crisp and refreshing feeling and dries down to a warm and comforting one. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in appeal, and what it lacks in uniqueness it makes up for in versatility. I find it works all year round, day or night. Office or night out... Reminds me of: The pear note reminds me of the crisp green apple in Hugo for Hugo Boss. The cardamon reminds me of La Nuit De L'Homme by YSL. And the Iris is a more palatable version of Dior Homme. The bad: It can be quite synthetic in the very opening. But 5mins in the notes settle and the real dance starts. Impression: It's gentlemanly, sexy, and cool, all at the same time.

Gentlemen Givenchy EDT is great, im surprised it's sitting around a 3.9/5.0! I do think it's objectively a 4.0 fragrance; it's my least favorite of the entire Givenchy Mens line but I still adore it; firstly, the pear and pineapple combo is very rare in mens fragrances, its opening the iris isn't detectable it's mostly all pear, after about 10 minutes the pineapple really pokes through. Secondly, the iris while listed as the top note is subtle, as is the leather/vanilla. It's unisex but leans masculine slightly. I do think Givenchy suffers when it comes to mens warm weather fragrances because their fall & winter scents are superb. Moderate longevity & projection..I Do think Gentlemen Only EDT is a better warm weather fragrance, its a shame Givenchy discontinued their best two warm weather fragrances (2017 Pi Air, and 2001 Pi fraiche) such a shame we haven't had a Pi flanker this decade, I'd bet money Pi will be discontinued this decade. Only other negative is the givechy beauty customer service in the u.s.a. easily the worst of any fragrance company around, i requested a return over 60 times, the manager ignored my emails & calls, thus artificially extending the return window. Contacting LVMH directly i was ignored, shame on LVMH for allowing such bad customer service. Buyer beware; seek their products from reputable discounters...

I don't think many people in the comments are properly appreciating this fragrance as they should, and it's quite disappointing. If you want the 1970's gentleman, then rather than buying a different cologne I would suggest something CRAZY like... maybe just buying the 70's version? What a concept, different colognes smell different. As for the name, I can understand the frustration. No, this is not a conventional flanker. Comparing the "Gentleman" line is not like comparing Acqua Di Gio Profumo and Profundo. However, is a gentleman not a gentleman? Sure, this bottle has not seen the dated accessories and mannerisms of it's precursor, maybe his suit looks different, maybe his car isn't the same model, but the suit and tie gentleman wearing this fragrance is by no means anything other than a gentleman. Unique, maybe not. But there's not anything particularly special about a black and white tuxedo, either. For some reason, when I smell this fragrance, I picture a blush pink soap bar, with clusters of rainbow-tinged bubbles kissing its soft edges. But something more, a cheeky air of vanilla tickles my nose here and there. Very powdery, very simple, very "Gentleman". Scent: 8.5/10 Uniqueness: 6.5/10 Silage: 7/10 Longevity: 7.5/10

Soft, smooth and seductive. Givenchy gentleman isn't a rugged men's fragrance, but a man who wears this with confidence will give an elegant, assured impression. The opening is bright and citrusy with the pineapple, which persists right through into the dry-down, keeping the fragrance light and fresh. As it dries down, the beautifully powdery iris comes through, which with the pear accord reminds me of Dior Homme Intense, although that is much more chocolatey and rich. The vanilla gives the fragrance the perfect amount of sweetness; not sickening or overpowering. I struggle to pick up the leather, but that might be because my main leather fragrance is Tuscan Leather, so I'm used to leathers that smack you in the face :P This really is a beautiful fragrance, perfect for anyone who is self-assured enough to wear a slightly more feminine scent. If you like the Dior Homme line, you'll enjoy this too. The only reason I don't love this fragrance is the performance, which is only moderate, and weaker than other iris fragrances like Dior Homme and Prada l'Homme in my opinion. But, if you love a scent, carrying a decant round to reapply isn't the worst thing in the world.

Got this fragrance in last week and I have to say it's a good casual wear fragrance that smells really good. Nothing outstanding but I'm very satisfied with my purchase and for 60.00 for a 100ml bottle I believe it's worth it. Longevity and sillage are a little above average and to me this could be worn all year round for me because I live in Northern California not far from the Pacific coast line so the weather here is fairly mild all year. The iris in this fragrance is nice and smooth and the pear note along with the lavender 🪻 gives this a nice touch and I pick up the leather as well but it's not strong at all. So far I like this quite a bit and I also love the clear bottle design which looks really classy IMO, the black strap around the bottle with the white lettering is super nice. I believe this will become a love for me over time with more wearing but I give this fragrance a solid 9.2 out of 10 on first impressions, of course Gevinchy is one of my most favorite designer fragrances because I haven't ran across a fragrance from the house that I didn't like yet.

To me, it is sad to see how underrated this is (and maybe even misunderstood?). I really love the freshness that this has right after spraying it on and then how it becomes a bit sweeter and denser when it dries down. I don't feel like it is generic. It is very pleasant and yes, I would say it is mass appealing, but still different enough. It is not "shower gel-y" to me despite the mass appeal. I kinda get the comparison to Hollister Wave that was mentioned before, but mainly because of the sweet freshness that both have. To me, Givenchy Gentleman is more sophisticated and feels of higher quality. Hollister Wave also seems to dry down quite linearly on my skin, if anything it seems to get even sweeter, while Givenchy Gentleman develops to a slightly more mature scent over time. All in all, this is one of my favorite scents when I want to smell nice and don't have a specific scent in mind for the day. You could call it a dumb reach but that term would not do justice to the quality of this fragrance.

The more I wear this fragrance the more I seem to fall in love with it. Maybe I just really love pear...? Anyways, the pear note is the main character in Gentleman (2017). I know the votes on here say that the iris note is the dominant note, but I have to disagree. The iris in this fragrance is more of a "key" supporting character. It's noticeable throughout the fragrance's life, but it's never overwhelming. For example, one could easily compare Gentleman to Dior Homme due to the iris note. However, the defining pear note makes Gentleman a much more versatile offering. Whenever I've tried to wear Dior Homme casually, it felt too dressy. Gentleman on the other hand I can easily wear in both casual and formal situations. The wonderful pear/iris combo is what makes this fragrance so amazingly versatile. It's romantic, but also casual. It's serious, but also playful. It's mass appealing, but also has distinct character. Don't be intimidated by the low score on here. Try it out!

I just recently picked up my 3rd bottle of this one. I was pleased to see after opening the box that it was an original thick, fat original bottle style which is the 1st Ive had. I quickly looked up the batch code and I was super excited to see that this was an original 2017 batch!! Ive always heard that the original 2017 batches are better than the newer batches. Well, imo the newer batches have much more pear and iris. The original batches have more lavender, leather, and black vanilla. I love iris and pear so Ill be trying to get the newer batches in the future. I hope that this bottle gets better after it gets some use like the EDT Intense which gets smoother and stronger as you use the bottle. But still, pretty awesome I was able to snag an original 2017 bottle. I looked to see if there was anymore available and nope, all gone. If you love iris and lavender like I do, then this one is a must try no question.

This cologne is light, fresh, aromatic and sweet. Not heavy, not try hard. It is a modern fougere with lavender, iris and geranium. I get the sweetness of the iris and the aromatic lavender at the same time. The lavender remains while the iris fades out into a mild vanilla and leather. It is deeply pleasant and well blended. No braggadocio. It’s agreeable and not overly challenging, appropriate for work and for date nights, and for looking like an overall upstanding citizen. Clark Kent in the Daily Planet. Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen. Wear this if you’re a white collar worker who volunteers on the weekends. Wear this if you have drawer organizers. Wear this if you’re getting married and you want the family to love you. Regarding longevity and sillage: My fiancé wears only one spray of the EDP at a time and it fades from a 6 inch scent bubble to only a light scent that you can smell two inches away.

I allowed this fragrance to sit a little over a month after one wearing and it does seem like the fragrance has become stronger with projection and longevity. It's the first day of summer here in San Francisco Bay area and the temperature is 63° with sunny sky's which is perfect for this fragrance. I applied this fragrance around 5:00 am and as of now it's 11:00 am and this thing is still pumping very strong and that lavender in this thing is a little more prominent than the first time I wore this. I have to bump this up a notch from my previous rating so I give this a 9./10 because of how nice this smells on my skin and clothing. Maceration is definitely a real phenomenon with fragrance and I'm happy I decided to wear this one to work today and it's not the best fragrance of course, but it is very decent if you want a daily driver for work or casual events.

This is a good fragrance! Fruity pear 🍐, iris, cardomom, vanilla and on my skin I do pick up the leather but it's really light to my nose. Gentleman Gevinchy EDT is great for everyday wear all year round and I see this fragrance working in most situations and settings, office, church, running errands, or just lounging with friends or family. Longevity and sillage are good for a EDT because I get around 6 to 8 hours on skin and even longer when I spray my clothing. I bought my bottle on Amazon for 59.00 bucks and I believe I got a great deal and I'm happy to have this in my collection along with my two other Gentleman fragrances which are, EDT intense, and Reserve Privee. 8/10 fragrance for me and I look forward to exploring more from this line because so far Gevinchy has not disappointed me and I believe it's an underated house that deserves more love.

This is amazing! So underrated! Very pleasant. Fresh but also creamy a little bit. I pick some similarities with the Eros EDP, but this is more elegant and mature, without the annoying mint and bubblegum sweetness. Pineaple and a Pear give a very sexy opening. Better for warmer weather and you can wear this as a signature sents, you can't go wrong about it. It is an EDT but long-lasting easy 7-8+ hours or even more if you spray a bit more. Sillage it is between moderate and strong just perfect! The notes speak for themself, not much to talk about. Top to the bottom is just perfect for me! Very close to the Gentleman EDP, but that is more elegant and better for colder weather and more formal in my opinion. So rock with this as a signature everyday sents. I will never buy Versace Eros after this!

Got this as a gift a few years ago from my MIL for Christmas. I wasn't into fragrances then and was very happy with my Bleu de Chanel for everything. Fast forward to now and having developed a better nose, I can honestly say I have not appreciated what was gifted to me till now. This is an amazing fragrance. Opens very spring/summer with citrus and woody/earthiness. It's almost like a not so aggressive Terre d'Hermes. But then it changes into a more powdery floral fresh scent in the middle and finally ends with a warmer vanilla and leather. I don't know anything else that is like this. It checks the box for all the seasons which is probably why so many people say this is very versatile. I love it and can't believe I had it in my cabinet for 3 years before I began to realize what I had.

I used to dislike this fragrance because i preferred the now discontinued 2019 cologne version (which i miss!) Yet the more I wear this the more I like it; initially I disliked it because it opens with pretty much pure pear. After a few trial runs I really started to love it. About ten minutes after the pear, the pineapple, iris & leather/vanilla all seem to come out in equal proportions which i really like. Leather & vanilla traditionally lend themselves to warmer weather fragrances but they're so lightly used here its nice having a fragrance incorporate that. Its a young fragrance meets an older man's fragrance. It has elements of the newer sweet freshies but balances it with traditional scents like patchouli & leather... im surprised this isnt voted higher

I think this is an excellent fragrance. At first I was unsure, the opening is nice but it did not really grab my attention. However after wearing this for a couple of days, I noticed the dry down is fantastic. I kept smelling it off of myself towards the end of an 8 hour shift (and I would say this fragrance is suitable for workplace as well as casual situations), it really was excellent and addictive. This may sound negative but it reminds me almost of an AXE fragrance from years ago, it doesn't exactly smell like one and no one would ever smell this fragrance on you and believe you to be wearing AXE, but there is a similarity I thought. It's a great fragrance, not too expensive and you can confidently wear it in any situation all year.

The OG of a line usually cops flack from most for being “boring” but that’s what you get when the brief is to be “mass appealing”, “versatile” and “inoffensive” to sell the most bottles. Perfumers like Lorson don’t make mistakes and Gentleman 2017 is no exception. It’s a fresh and clean scent with a bit of vanilla and leather, and more interesting than the typical “blue” fragrance. They had to make this first to continue the predictable flanker playbook: Flanker 1 (2018) Add spices/resins for night/date Flanker 2 (2019) Add citrus for a summer scent Flanker 3 (2020) Add more woods Flanker 4 (2021) Make the OG more intense Flanker 5 (2022) Add booze for a winter scent And mark my words... Flanker 6 (2023) Make it blue or sport

Don’t sleep on this one or the Cologne. The Gentleman EdP flankers get all the fanfare (understandably so) but this one here absolutely deserves more positive recognition. I guess it got hated on initially because it effectively took over from the 1970’s original (which I tried but omg that was definitely *not* for me). This newer EdT is beautiful from top to bottom, but especially in the opening. With the pear and iris it feels like a picture perfect Spring day and life is good, while also making me want to be better and do better. Fresh and elegant and really suitable for any time of the year except maybe the coldest of days when you might want an EdP or Parfum anyway. Give this one a try.

Just ordered this fragrance online to add to my Gevinchy gentleman collection. I believe Gevinchy is a great house that is very underrated and often times overlooked. So far I love the Gevinchy fragrances that I have purchased, PI, Reserve, and Intense which I really enjoy wearing all three and PI is my absolute favorite from the house because that was my older brothers signature scent back in 1998, and back then I remember being in awe of the bottle design of PI and how good the fragrance smelled. I'm looking forward to receiving this fragrance and adding it to my collection because I'm a true fan of the gentleman line and this one was created by two of the best noses in the game.

how come everyone loves to hate everything on this site? this fragrance gets so much hate on comments. I decided to buy it despite that (or maybe because of that) and I love it so much!!!! the smell on my skin hours later is just so incredible. Absolutely beautiful and classy like the great true gentleman, Mr. Givenchy himself! as for the gripe that it's nothing like the original? well, freakin' go buy the original! or are you also looking for 70s clothing to go with your modern attire? why should fragrance be stuck in the same decade?! I own the original and I love it. I now own this and I love it just as much! Different creations to fit the sensitivity of different times.

Got this one as a gift last Christmas, and it made me want to get my nose in all the others from the line. Opens fresh with pear a little spice, dries down with powdery vanilla and leathery creaminess. Has that distinct Iris DNA that's a lot more concentrated in the EDP, but with a little fresh spiciness that reminds me a bit of Fitch Fierce, but classier. A great workplace-friendly scent. This isn't really a distinctly summer or winter scent, but it works in those contexts, like an outdoor summer dinner setting, etc. Ideal for spring and fall, but you could swing it year round, all times of day. I don't reach for it every day but when I do, I'm always happy I did.

You can enjoy the OG 1970s Gentleman or it’s “Originale” (and I do) and also appreciate this as a totally different scent that was just branded in an unfortunate way. I put off trying this because it seemed like something I’d find boring, but as I discovered it’s appealing flankers, I figured I’d give this a shot, and it turns out I really enjoy it. It’s simultaneously not that complex or interesting but also doesn’t smell exactly like anything else, and is fresh and contemporary without being overly sweet or bludgeoning with ambroxan. Overshadowed now by both its namesake and its flankers, but this is solid in its own right.

Givenchy Gentleman (2017) is a such a sophisticated, bright, and uplifting fragrance. I can't imagine why this doesn't get more love. The bottle alone is a work of art, nice and heavy with a heavy cap and overall great design. The scent has an average sillage and good longevity. I would wear this to the office, on a date, or just to relax. The powdery iris gives Givenchy Gentleman a touch of class that will work well in formal situations, but is comforting and relaxed enough to wear around the house on the weekend. I would say this is could be worn year-round.

I'm so sad i had not this fragrance on my collection until now. This is SPECTACULAR! Can not detect any pineapple but the pear is very strong on the top. I also get a boozy feeling with the pear. Something like brandy maybe. Those first 5-10 minutes are intoxicating. I couldn't get my nose off my hand for god shake! Then the iris comes strong, but the pear remains there on the back, giving slightly sweet fruity vibes. It's one of those times that the smell is SO AMAZING, that i don't give a fuckk about longevity and projection. This is ART! Salute Givenchy <3

I'm a big fan of the Gentleman line. As for this 2017 reformulation, I prefer to wear it casually on spring/fall days or at the office. I don't use it for night outings. I have better options for colder nights (Chanel Egoiste, DH Intense, G. L'Homme Ideal, and even G. Gentleman EDP). After all, I think this one leans more towards the “cleaner” side than to the “masculine/sexy” side of the spectrum. Creamy, suave, slightly sweet. Low-profile, and yet a compliment getter. Performance is good. 30 year olds and above. Hard to go wrong with it.

This scent is an absolute beauty! I began my experience with the Gentleman line through Cologne, which I totally love (one of the best options for summer days), and that’s the reason why I wanted to check the other flankers. Tried this at a duty free shop and immediately fell in love with it. Perfect for colder days, and its performance is above average on my skin. I’d say if you like YSL La Nuit de L’Homme, you’ll enjoy this piece of art as well. Not saying this smells exactly the same to YSL LNDH, but is definitely a scent of that kind.

The scent is pleasant, elegant, inoffensive. Good office chioce. There's no citrusy freshness at any point but still it's light enough to be worn even in the warm summer days (mostly it feels like a fall and early spring fragrance though). I don't know about the projection but longevity is really good. On me it lasts all day. One instance i smelled the drydown (woody, smoky) on myself even 20 hours after spraying (even after the shower). I've heard it was redundant. I've heard it was nothing new. Well, not in my collection.

Great scent. I guess I'm a fan of Gentleman lineup. Starts similar to Gentleman Only, then descents to powdery iris. For me its not that fruity and sweet as its described in main accords. Longevity is a problem. I get tops 4h, projection isnt that good either but I guess thats good, because you don't want to fill the room if you a Gentleman :) It looks like its gonna be discontinued... On their official page there is nowhere to be found Gentlemen 2017 and discounters are only selling testers at least here in Europe.

I think this is a nice fragrance, not be best but it is a mixture of freshness and powderiness that i think smells good. This fragrance smells quite mature probably a man in their 30s would wear. This would be a summer scent but i this the powdery and iris note takes away the summer vibe to it and at the same time the freshness takes away the winter feel to it so i think it is a versatile fragrance suitable for all year round.This still gets compliments but not as many as the other in the gentleman line. 7/10

Great perfume. Very pleasant. Two sprays are enough for me. If sprayed more than two my sense of smell for this fragrance would have been desensitized/compromised and wondered why I didnt smell it after half an hour. Pear and Iris dominates the opening but Iris can keep it to the end with mild gentle leather co-dominate from the middle to the end. The airy bright scent persists on my shirt for two days at least, well I didnt check days after that. One of my favourite and signature scents.

I must not like pear. Most of the time it seems to mess up the opening for me on this and other fragrances. Overall, this is a classic gent scent and I certainly like it after the opening. Edit: after a few wears, the opening didn't bother me as much. I have actually grown to enjoy this. Certainly see why some say it is underrated. Really great fragrance. Fantastic price so you can spray often if needed. The Iris and geranium work so well together.

If you like the Gentleman DNA like Boisee, but want a fresher, fruitier, brighter version, then this is the answer. Pear, floral, powdery iris with breezy woods. It’s a perfect springtime formal scent because it’s clean, classy, and sophisticated. A bright, daytime scent but is probably too thick and cloying for dead of summer heat. Performance could definitely be better. VERY underrated and overlooked in favor of the flankers. 8/10

I don't get the low rating on this one. Is it groundbreaking? Maybe not, but the fruity iris note is done incredibly well, and you will pay 2-3 times this for anything else. I know the other concentrations get some love, but the EDT is a sleeper that is truly signature worthy. Lasts all day on me, and projection is modest which makes it perfect for the office. This is a very decent fragrance to wear on a daily basis!! The opening is very nice and Im digging the lavender 🪻 in this fragrance and I also pickup a bit of smooth leather as well. Some may shit on this fragrance but I really like it for a daily driver at work and this stuff lasts a good 8+ hours on my skin and clothing with moderate projection that's inoffensive and will be great for the office.

kiragold....I swear to God I've used this perfume 50 times and never once have got a single molecule of Pear, Pineapple, airiness or freshness of any kind. Each time I get Hot Vinyl car seat and cardamom. I'll be 90 years old still waiting to smell the fruity freshness. Thank you for your review because I felt crazy. I've even bought two separate decants thinking I was sent the wrong fragrance.

I like him! There's something gentle and slightly sweet, but there's also something more masculine about it as it dries down. I think it's quite nice, especially for a sweater and leather jacket on slightly colder days. I prefer to wear it in the later hours. When it's winter, spray more. Holds normally like toilet water. Greetings from the oldest country in Europe - Bulgaria. :)

I am really chocked by the rating of this fragrance. What an underrated fragrance, this is so great to me. It is a woody fresh fruity elegant type of scent, which is in the same category of scents like aventus. Performance is moderate, which fits with this scent type. If you like aventus by creed or oud vibrant leather by zara, I think you would enjoy this fragrance as well.

I bought 100ml from the freeshop at the Istanbul International Airport for around 80€ with a set of small travel bottle. It's definetly worth the money. Gentlemen, wear this one during the spring and autumn in the first place, since the scent is noticeable the most during those seasons. You can also wear it during the winter, but basically this is a spring/autumn fragrance.

In my opinion the whole Gentleman line is great. This is more wearable, and universal than the EDP or the other flankers. It's fruity, fresh, and leathery, with lighter note of the black vanilla. This is not so heavy and dense, but for me it is loveable. Longevity and projection is moderate. A sophisticated all season, and all occasion fragrance, with a good price.

The juicy pear opening and sultry leather drydown make Givenchy Gentleman 2017 more distinctive to me than its successors which have been compared to various versions of Dior Homme. Its versatility is right up there with the likes of Prada L’homme and hence it makes a great signature scent. Vastly underrated, its current 3.75 rating does not do it any justice.

This is absolutely criminal. A fragrance that is this good, to perform this poorly. This is so phenomenally good. And the performance is so shitty. This is an absolute 10/10 (to my nose). And an abysmal 2/10 from a performance standpoint. I wish fragrances like this didn't exist. This is criminal. I love this, and hate it at the same time.

It’s kind of an odd smell but it gives the « gentleman » vibe, which is confidence, maturity, elegance and self control. The opening is meh, it’s earthy iris. However once the dry down it’s a strong iris, spices, powder and leather notes. It's very comforting and can be wear all year. It's basically Prada L'Homme EdT without the soapiness

Agree with BDos, I wrote a negative review when I first bought it because I expected something different ( for some reason I expected Aventus with pear ) and the leather hit me the wrong way, it smelled like vinyl to me, I've come way around on it and to my surprise if I didn't have a decent amount left I'd probably repurchase.

I don't get all the hate for this one I know scents are subjective but this is one of my all time faves I have never smelled another scent quite like it yea the performance isn't the greatest but it's definitely a must have for your collection I love this fragrance and it's an all year round scent and definitely underated.

I fell in love with this fragance, I was looking for something fresh to use daily at the office, it's just a bit sweet which is enough for me and that creamy and soft leather note is fantastic, the Iris is not strong as other iris Fragances and that's ok it doesn't need more.

This is a nice fragrance that can be worn year round and it's budget friendly if you cop this on discounters. Happy to have this in my collection and the iris in this one is mild but present along with the pear and cardomom this gives a fruity kind of vibe. 8.5 / 10 for me.

The lavender/Iris combo is so so good. The quality of this scent is crazy good. Very well blended. In the same realm as the prada lhomme line. Different enough to stand out on its own. If you like soapy Iris then you're gonna love this. I know I do. So does my gf

One of the most beautiful fragrances I have ever smelt. I have had the most compliments I've ever received wearing this, on multiple occasions. It's inoffensive, fresh, clean and lasts a good amount of time. There is nothing to not like about this.
