Gentlemen Only Casual Chic

The inspiration was the casual and refined style of the relaxed man, who is full of good manners, which is represented both by the way he dresses and acts. For that, the fragrance needed to contain elements that resulted in a versatile product, ideal to be worn anytime and anywhere. Gentlemen Only Casual Chic brings fresh top notes of ginger and juniper, in contrast to the spiciness of cardamom. Then, the body of the fragrance gains a woody accord of cedar and birch leaf, an ingredient that is capable of imparting leathery and slightly smoky nuances. Finally, sandalwood and ambroxan appear at the base of the olfactory pyramid, in addition to notes of coumarin and vetiver. Gentlemen Only Casual Chic is a perfume classified as woody-spicy and arrived on the market bringing a breath of freshness to the pillar, by abandoning the signature of violet leaves and incense of the two versions that precede it. The family's DNA still lives through the notes of birch, vetiver, and cedar, but Gentlemen Only Casual Chic is more vibrant and aromatic since the moment it's sprayed onto the skin. The feeling of a greener and more citrusy start comes first, but a salty facet is very evident to my nose and lasts for a long time during evolution. There is also a light and not too sweet mint smell during the dry down, but the most noticeable – at least on my skin – is a sensation of dried aromatic herbs, like the ones we buy for culinary purposes, which evolve into a base of light and ambery woods, in which the ambroxan has more weight than the sandalwood itself, usually softer and even creamier. In the end, Gentlemen Only Casual Chic proves to be an aromatic and salty fragrance (like the rough side of tanned leather), which carries an implicit aspect of elegance, without losing casualness. That is, it is the perfect type of fragrance for those who have a higher position in the company they work for, but go to the end-of-the-year barbecue in shorts, a basic shirt, and sneakers and don't want to look either too professional or too casual. In 2018, it was already showing signs of discontinuity, but it still appears on the brand's official page, which may indicate a possible case of presence only in some specific markets. The bottle and box brought orange details in order to reinforce a more sporty style. Gentlemen Only Casual Chic is excellent and delivers quality and good performance. A sin to have disappeared from the stores so quickly!

Time to finally speak about my favourite and signature scent! Gentlemen only Casual chic, in my opinion, is the best of the Givenchy line. And I mean that seriously, it hits all the spots (for me) it's woody, it's fresh but not too citrusy, it doesn't announce itself loudly when walking into the room, but when someone hugs you or is walking shoulder to shoulder with you, it presents itself. It's a clean scent, simple, but not underwhelming. I have quite a few scents in my collection and this one trumps all in my opinion, it being discontinued makes it even more impressive. I'm on my way to buy a second bottle to keep, even if it's a bit overpriced. I consider it my signature scent because it's very versatile: I use it at night, during the day, in the warmth of spring or cold in the winter, I actually prefer it then as its woody scent seems to envelop you in its warmth. You can wear it to a formal event or to relaxing at the pool or a walk at the beach. I would even argue this could be a date cologne but I would only do that during the summer as it's a light enough scent for a summer night, too light for a winter one. 10/10 my love for this scent knows no bounds, the only reason I don't use it daily is for fear of running out too soon.

This is awesome, I am surprised!, it has become one of my fave's from Givenchy, it has a nice sort of loud opening but is so enjoyable all the way to the dry down, I gets noticed and complemented right away. I was expecting something nice but this is much nicer than I thought. I can't compare it with the Gentleman only because I do not have it, but I have the Gentleman only intense, but they are totally different. Whom ever said in the reviews down there that this is a citrus blast or something similar I think there is something wrong with their sense of smell because there are no citruses listed in the notes, but a nice list of woody and spicy components. I won't go in detail of which one comes and goes first since I'm not qualified for that, but is a blast of nice elements, but not citruses. I like citruses fragrances too of course, but this is not one of them. It was a total blind buy, and very happy with it. Thumps up!

My girlfriend purchased this after smelling it on me in Sephora,i wasn't impressed to be honest,but the look in her eye said otherwise. After multiple wearings it has since grown on me and its actually a refreshingly different fragrance with its mildly spicy ginger and cardamon opening with a seductively smooth sandalwood base,i can smell mild ambroxan in the mix as well a pickled dill note. After the drydown has settled its a relatively smooth and pleasing casual,clean smelling,classy,easy going scent mainly because of the sandalwood note which smooths it out. Ideal for spring or mid temperatures when your relaxed and in an informal environment,maybe even the office. 7/10 for the smell imo,It does have good performance and projection. Definitely a like & not a love. Once I've finished the bottle I won't bother replacing it.

This is my biking-around-the-city fragrance for sunny spring afternoons. It smells bright and fresh, but doesn’t rely on citrus to get there. Not for a sour mood, this is for those mornings where the sun is bright, there's hope in the air, and you’re feeling energetic, and extra clean. Pairs easily with white tennis kicks and a nice chambray shirt. Preppy, yet individualistic at once. The ginger and juniper are wonderful together and launch this bright frag into classic territory. I want to douse myself in this but I only have 20% left and need to conserve it until it's re-released! edit - I only just realized that their ad campaign also features a guy biking around the city on an orange tinted bike (like mine!) - that is a perfectly weird coincidence.

Having gone through three bottles of the original Gentleman only over the past decade—I finally got my hands on Gentleman Only Casual Chic for an absolute steal ($50), and I have to say, it’s the superior choice. The transformation in this fragrance is nothing short of remarkable. It opens with a fresh, invigorating burst of minty ginger, then evolves into a smooth, creamy sandalwood that feels effortlessly refined. I haven’t come across such a well-structured fresh fragrance in ages—the contrast from the initial spray to the drydown is so distinct that it almost feels like two different scents in one. Longevity on the other hand is moderate - 5 to 6 hours ,which is expected for spring/summer frangrance.

Very fresh, wet, yet powdery ginger note. Nice texture through and through and more than enough lasting power to make it through the day. Quite pleasant and inoffensive, I find this to be a businessman's alternative to scents like Abercrombie Fierce/Mont Blanc Legend. This really makes me smile for some reason... It sort of reminds me of scents from the late 90's to early 2000's, and I don't really know why. I would've REALLY loved it back then! But it didn't exist then - and thus, it doesn't have any of that negative stigma associated with it, so I'll gladly wear it now. :) Modern, yet nostalgic...

Unique, relaxing, care-free...perfect for spring & summer, daytime use...it just makes you smile. There's nothing quite like it on the market, its freshness is not a classic citrusy one, but rather a spicy, fizzy one. The result is quite surprising and pleasant. Plus, I love the orange :) a beautiful touch of color in my bathroom. Creamy sandalwood in the base makes this a super sexy, comfortable fragrance. +++ Ambroxan, hello!! Doesn't project enormously but leaves behind a gorgeous and elegant trail.

The original Gentleman Only isn't to my taste, so I wasn't planning to like Casual Chic. Surprisingly, I did! It opens with a lovely fresh burst of ginger and juniper, with a hint of cardamom and geranium. Although there are no citrus notes, this combination gives you a fresh citrus vibe. The drydown is a nice mix of tonka and sandalwood, with a hint of birch. A lovely summer fragrance. The only weak point is the sillage, this is a skin scent on me. Longevity is good, however - I get around 8 hours.

This scent has eluded and confused me for some time now, every time I went to sample this at a major retailer, I left unsure if I liked, disliked or loved it. I have now spent 5 occasions tested this out and I have finally realised that I do like this scent, so I purchased. It quite unique in my opinion, so very fresh and clean, just like the bottle, it can be hard to describe the notes in my opinion, I get the vetiver, the juniper and the ginger. Well blended and worth the purchase.

I just sprayed my bottle 5 times for the first time in a while and I got the urge to look and see if this fragrance is available anywhere anymore. Low and behold it’s been discontinued. It’s a pity cause this is one of the best fragrances a guy could ever wear to the gym. I wore it to the gym for years. Perfect for playing tennis too. It has a very energetic yet also very classy feel. A lot of ginger and musk that mixes with your natural body chemistry.

This seems to be a really divisive scent. When I came here I expected everyone to rave about it because I'm 33 and this is the 1st male scent I literally adore. No one I know had it, I was given a test bottle by a friend who works at a perfume shop. It immediately gives me visions of that handsome stranger and all the vacations we'd take together. It's breezy and light but not plain. Very much from the same world as Armani Mania, Versace Dreamer etc.

Today i got this sample with the YSL La nuit de l'homme i bought today. If you spray it for the first time you smell instantly a burst of citrus. But then i washed it off with water and damn.. It smelled so goood, this probally is going to smell like the dry down. Very smooth, fresh, casual. Just lovely i would really recommend it. Scent at the beginning: 7/10 Way too much cirtus Dry down: 9/10 No joke, probally gonna buy this when my YSL is empty.

Rocking this spicy scent right now, love it, so unique, so manly, so different. Was always turned away, by the bad reviews, but I am glad I looked into this one. Love the ginger and juniper note, such a clean scent, projection is okay and longevity not so bad either, good standard for a fresh scent. Ties in well with my suit attire, blue gingham shirt, navy tie, pin stripe slacks, blue banded watch, and, my casual Chic ;)

Perfectly mixed, what an addiction this one is too, ... one and a half bottles to go and then the fun is over! The 'Only' variants from Givenchy are the best and created by Jean Jacques. - Perfect gemengd, wat een verslaving ook deze, ... anderhalve fles te gaan en dan is het uit de pret! This was one of the first scents I bought over 4 years ago when I first got into mens perfumes. Picked it up in clearance today for £10, bargain! You can't go wrong with this one. Clean, safe, refreshing juice that's full of interesting ingredients. Good projection and fairly long lasting. Will be gone soon (discontinued) get it while you can! 7.9/10

Woody, fresh and slightly sweet. It's not overwhelming and loud, definitely suitable for a modern and classy gentleman that has no need to scream. I would say that projection is soft to moderate and lasting power is surprisingly good for an edt. In my opinion this is the best of the Gentlemen series. I like it too much ❤

Light and clean with a safe for work silage, I found the blend of woodsy and citrus to be well worth the money. Definitely a warm season scent, but I can't wait to see how it works in the fall/winter of California. Worth the investment. My wife loves it. She liked it in the ads of GQ, and on me it is a favorite of hers.

Not many people love this scent but I do. I cant get enough. I first smelled it after it came out last year and I couldnt get it out of my head. I had to go back to Dillards to smell it again to confirm I wasnt crazy. Yep I still love it. Went home and immediately bought it online. Its fresh and spicy

One of the best fresh scent I'ev ever smelled. Classy, expensive feeling. Longevity is 12+ hours on me with more than enough projection. The whole gentlemen only line works very well on me. With this series I think Givenchy made one of the best fragrances of nowadays. Very much recommended.

As a woman with a contrarian streak, I have to sniff any perfume that has a name like 'gentlemen only', because screw the rules. This is my favorite of all the Gentlemen Only scents. It's brisk and bracing, with lots of ginger and juniper, with a hint of cedar in the background.

Recently opened my Genteleman only (CC), it's a 2016 batch, a fresh and mysterious fragnance that works great during fall and spring days and nights. I find its' DNA pretty unique.

Just beautiful, very underrated, summer morning chic fragrance, modern and clean, gives you every reason to feel confident and energized applying it after a morning shave.

I am a fan of the entire Givenchy Gentleman Only line and certainly not a fan of everything that came after.

Super amazing, best perfume I had. Girls confessed staying with me only because I smell good (women magnet).

I really enjoy Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic. When you first spray it, the opening smells like ginger mixed with pine, which I later found out to be juniper and cardamom. The Ginger note reminds me of Dior Homme Sport, although I would not say Casual Chic smells like Dior Homme Sport. The juniper and cardamom notes give Casual Chic an entirely different character, which I find unique and well done. There are a lot of juniper trees in western Colorado and this smell reminds me of hiking around in the canyons by Monument National Park in Grand Junction, CO. (Junipers have a smell reminiscent of cat urine, which thankfully is not reflected in this fragrance.) In addition to my appreciation for Casual Chic, my girlfriend also really likes this scent. I was surprised the YouTube reviews I have seen were not more favorable. It is similar to Gentlemen Only, just with ginger, cardamom, and juniper, so perhaps the similarity to an existing fragrance is why people aren't really raving about this scent. Casual Chic is technically a flanker of a flanker, so it could be a victim of the flanker prejudice I've observed in the fragrance community. Casual Chic is a very safe scent, it can be worn to work, school, wherever. You can wear this in the day or night, but I think it lends itself better to daytime wear. The best time to wear this is in the spring, fall, and it can be worn in summer if you do not live someplace that's really warm. (I live in the North American Midwest.) Casual Chic is not groundbreaking, but it doesn't smell much like anything else in my collection. I receive a compliment nearly every time I wear this stuff. The projection is decent. I picked up a sample from Sephora and sprayed some on my hand. Hours later in a movie theater, I kept catching the fragrance drifting to my nose and when I brought my nose close, it was still strong smelling 4 hours later. That was when I first noticed the beauty of Casual Chic's dry-down. The heart and base is where this really shines. The Citrus and Juniper fade away and the woody notes come into focus. I smell Cedar and Birch to a lesser degree. There is also a warm (for lack of a better word) smell that I really enjoy. From looking at the notes, it's not Vetiver, Vanilla, or Sandalwood. I suspect it to be Ambroxan, Coumarin, maybe both. Not sure how different Coumarin is from Tonka Bean, since Coumarin is derived from Tonka Bean, but the smell is not like any of my fragrances utilizing Tonka. I had been really into fragrances for about a year when I bought this, so I was still getting over the impulse to buy a fragrance based on the top notes alone. I think this is the first cologne I purchased because of the heart and base notes over the top notes. I bought a full bottle and I plan on buying another when I run low presuming I don’t find something similar I like more. -UPDATE- Seven months later, I still like this stuff, but I wish I had waited a while before buying it because it is available online at half price. I paid full retail for it shortly after it came out.

I found Givenchy Men Only pleasant enough, but a little nondescript. I can at least say that to my mind Casual Chic has more identity. The moment I put nose to skin I was quite absorbed. Jean Jacques has worked some magic here. Casual Chic stands aside from the usual fresh summer choices because there is no citrus - which is replaced instead by ginger. And it works - even if it is a little like ginger ale. But you don't need to like ginger ale to like Casual Chic. The choice of ginger is thoughtful, and immediately on application dispenses a stimulating vibe. After ginger, the juniper, cardamom, nutmeg and mint all hit the senses. I can't say I've really noticed vanilla. In other words it isn't at all sweet. Neither is the finish overtly woody. Instead, if I'm to be honest, it is more reminiscent of a moisturiser smell. It has been quite linear throughout and despite the simplicity of composition it is still beautifully nuanced. It has only very modest projection. All the same, I've loved every moment of the 4+ hours (possibly longer) its lasted on my arm in pleasantly warm British summer weather. However, it seriously struggles for longevity. Personally, I think it's good for day or night. As a life-long wearer of Givenchy Gentleman I'd say it is just about worthy of the name. A nice summer scent and a little different from the usual choices. Perhaps not a style of scent I've habitually explored. All the same, this Givenchy creation has actually got my attention. Definitely minded to wear this.

Givenchy Gentlemen Only Casual Chic is a nice perfume. It projects moderately for the first five hours before it settles down to being a skin scent. The opening is colourful with lavender, geranium, mint, ginger, a little cardomom and nutmeg, cedar, juniper and vetiver. It's rather bright and vibrant. Three hours later it's still powering away but it's a little smoother and toned down as the brighter notes gradually give way to the vetiver, ambroxan, birch and coumarin as the balance shifts. Five hours in and there's a tiny touch of vanilla and the sandalwood starts coming into its own. I get over twelve hours from this so there's certainly plenty of oomph! I think people's reaction to this is likely to depend on how they react to ambroxan. Whilst it gives a durability it's not a subtle note in perfumery for most people. Casual Chic is pleasant and I nearly bought a full bottle back in the day but I always felt that the original Gentlemen Only and Casual Chic were both a bit too sweet for me whereas the Gentlemen Only Absolute was a pleasure in winter, so in the end it was the Gentlemen Only Fraiche that I chose from the fresher brighter ones of the range. The prices asked for Casual Chic are just too steep for me so the last few drops I have will be just that - the last few.

Thank heavens Givenchy don't completely follow in the footsteps of other designer brands because when you think about it Pi and Play are quite unconventional male fragrances and then they have older classics like Gentlemen and Xeryus. The original Gentlemen Only is inoffensive and has never compelled me to purchase but this flanker of a flanker (of sorts) I have to say I really enjoyed. I don't really know what it is about casual chic that I was so impressed with because it's pretty standard fare. I think I was just glad it was a gagging, confused mess. The opening focuses on a peppered, fizzy gin & tonic juniper vibe which is just as refreshing as citruses and coupled well with the ginger which is fresh and spicy at the same time. I immediately associate that feeling with Dior Homme Sport a fragrance I rarely wear but when I do always enjoy. The base seems to be a more grown up hint of smokey birch and synthetic cedar which is masculine and works well behind those top notes. Lasting power is average and silage light but I'd say this is a decent fragrance and surpassing the original for sure in my book.

I tested in a Sephora all of them (new Gentlemen series) and the classic one, reformulated for sure but still, the one and only! Givenchy Gentleman 1974. I was wearing each of them later (~2ml decants). My ratings based only on each scent impressions: Giv. Gentleman 1974 (10/10) Superb scent! Gentlemen Only 2013 (7,5/10) Nothing special Gentlemen Intense (7,5/10) Still nothing superb. Genlemen Casual Chic (weak 9/10) I really liked this smell from the first initial spray. Couple days ago I bought a 100ml tester flanker, and this is my current spring/summer scent with (2013 batch) Aventus by Creed (10/10) for special, better days. Casual Chic lasts for 6-7 hours after 3 sprays (1-neck and 2-wrists) so it's a decent time for my needs. I also bought a Gentleman Only 1974, and love it! Definitely 10/10 for a true masculine oldschool, and for me it's a fragrance for all seasons. Fantastic Havana by Aramis is a strong 9/10 on my list, and of course also have it :)

Casual Chic is clearly a light fresh, woodsy, citrus and spicy summer-spring scent. It has a pinch of freshly-mown hay or something like that, fresh green. Very versatile for any hour of the day, casual as it says. The longevity is just nice, about 6 hours max and the sillage is moderate. The most distinguished notes are vivid juniper, vivid ginger, vivid cardamon, coumarin, birch, sandalwood, but I do not get any levander or vanilla. Generally a perfect fragrance for hot weather, one of my favourite summer scents of all times!! And I am very eclectic and difficult when choosing a hot weather scent.. I hope they make an ADP version. It worth buying that and I am happy for choosing Casual Chic.

To my nose, this is extremely similar to the original Gentlemen Only. The only difference I sense is that the incense is toned down in favor of a little more citrus. I'm not sure why incense isn't listed as a note, because I can definitely still smell it. A very likable scent, however not worth the prices that it's going for now. You can get the original Gentlemen Only for less than half the price of this, and they aren't different enough to justify the pricing of this one. Good fragrance, but not worth the current prices of $75+

OK this was a gift from my mom (she knows I love perfums) and the first time I wore it I just say: "wow very heavy refreshing smell, like bath soap!!!" .... but then the aroma turned spicy and just loved it. I have to admit that I only use this fragrance for going out to the club and parties; but guys believe me: this is an IMAN, people around you always say complements, and I think the hook is the smell that is so fresh and spicy and this creates a sensation that you took a bath 1 min ago!

Gentleman Only Casual Chic starts off very sharp, spicy and fresh -- the juniper, ginger and cardamom compliment a lemony geranium, which gives this fragrance a fresh citrus vibe, even though it lacks any citrus notes. The birch and mint middle notes maintain an energetic vibe. The base is where this fragrance really shines -- a soft creamy sweet tonka sandalwood combo that's casual, relaxing and comforting.

A decent summer scent, I like the opening & the dry down as well, the opening reminds me with fresh cut cucumbers, or the water that has been infused with cucumbers, dry down has this subtle woody notes. you can't go wrong with this one, wearable casually or at the office as it is not offensive, it smells "chic" as the name implies, lasts about 6 hours, I like it.

What a pitty this is discontinued, of all the Gentlemen only line! One would think there are way worse ones to pull off the market. I'm beginning to believe that designers are intentionally discontinuing their great fragrances to open up market for their new mediocre creations that nobody would otherwise even consider buying... How absolutely disappointing!

i love this scent a lot say its generic but i dont have anything that smells like it smells proffesional and clean more of a refined type of clean not an out a shower type of clean decent longevity i can smell it on my clothers for more than 24 hours for warm weather countries like the Philippines, this is suited for daily wear, workdays to weekends

Got a sample of this free with some purchases (just given randomly) and have to say really liked it. Wonderful fresh scent, you can tell it's of a high quality. Longevity was really good for me and the name is spot on, a casual scent for a gentleman. Will be looking into getting a bottle of this once I get the chance Thumbs up :)

It's smooth, it's light and powdery but it carries some brightness. This is a nice casual daytime fragrance. It's good for the warm weather, it's good for work in an office setting and with a dress shirt. I give this an 8.7/10

I'm a woman but I temporarily stole this for myself, because it's a high quality perfume in the true sense of the word, nothing in it smells artificial or heavy, it's very good for office. It's an inoffensive clean scent.

What a splendid surprise. Really terrific blend of ginger, juniper, cedar, birch, and vetiver. You can pick this little sophisticated gem up for $20 online. Highly recommend.
