Irrésistible Givenchy Rose Velvet

I’m a little obsessed with this one at the moment. I keep sampling it when I can in the store & returning home to smell myself for hours. It’s so good. Definitely a “me” scent for sure. I think it’s purchase worthy. I’m almost surprised with a lot reviews here but I get that the profile has been overplayed. But this one does it so well! It’s a high-range alto, which I’m always a sucker for. The black currant keeps it sweet and syrupy but it’s definitely a peppered woodsy floral. I love rose. But, like everyone else, I am particular in my own way. I’m not the biggest fan of the tight, sparkling-pink rose, I enjoy my roses deep. The ones that have opened and developed thick with time. I like my roses swollen and heavy. This is like the water of that deep rose. A graceful hint to the ready rose. The patchouli here is like what’s in Chloe’s Nomade EDP, which I absolutely adore, but here it is kinder and more gentle. There’s less punch in this one but it’s still a little scratchy: Where Nomade’s patchouli feels like a sun heated woolen blanket laid out for a picnic at the end of an adventurous late summer’s day- this patchouli is more serene. Clean and calm. A centered, thin cashmere sweater over that buttery silk cami- cooler and thinner with a gentle sway. The wispy days of summer that feel like central air. In nature Nomade’s patchouli is dry like pine forest and thicket and sweat- here there is water nearby. Like dappled light of deciduous trees with thin babbling brooks whispered through the under layer of the air. A cooler bright sunny day. A blooming rose garden by a sweet little stream. Yes, this will probably be my next full bottle purchase.

*** Update! Here I am about 3 months later and I am very happy to report that this perfume has settled into exactly what I’d hoped that it would! I decided to let it sit for a while in the hopes that it would smell like the sample, and it does. I can’t stop sniffing my arm. I got a sample of this in a "spring scents" exploratory set from a well known beauty store. It was an immediate love for me. That's surprising, because I do not usually love black currant (it often smells cough syrupy to me) or rose (it often reminds me too much of the cheap, wannabe "victorian" perfumes I remember from my childhood). But this? This was romantic, feminine, juicy, lovely, delicious, intoxicating! My husband wholeheartedly agreed. I bought a full bottle and... I am underwhelmed. I don't hate it, but I never would have bought a full bottle if the sample had smelled like the full bottle does. The dry-down is still nice, but it is no longer love at first spray like it was with the sample... I have worn it and gotten no comment one way or the other from my husband. I'll give it some time to macerate and hope that the scent I loved will re-appear. For the Givenchy price-point I really hope it does. Is it possible the sample was filled with the wrong perfume? There are several of these Givenchy Irresistible ones that look similar. It seems unlikely because it was in an official sample container so I doubt they fill it in the store... I don't know. I'm confused. And disappointed.

The most elegant of Irresistible flankers. Light and gentle. It might be my new favourite of the line, or joining the girly and sweet Very Floral. At the same time I also find the original smart and very attractive but this is very different. They are all office safe in this family but this one is so chic and unintrusive. Perfect office choice. Not overly rosy, it has a feeling of rosy suede or...velvet in scent form. Very subtle, with up to my chin sillage. This is for scent sensitive or the ones not wanting to be overly parfumed but still smell great. Should be perfect also for new mothers as this is so gentle, calming and lovely it is safe to wear around new baby. I must say the tester in Douglas was off, settled o.k but it did not smell as good as my own, fresh bottle. It had a destroyed rose note giving coffee impression. I hope mine wont go off for a long time just saying that it did not smell delightful from the tester but is worth the purchase they way it smells as fresh. And it will probably deepen. I dont know anything as subtle that still has a presence, such gentle aura it gives, wow. The opening is of course rosy, but in a soft, skin-like way. Great. My new love. And an easy reach for any occasion. I feel mainly rose and iris. The base is very light. 8 hours on me and I still feel it gently radiating from time to time but it is very light. The ones used to strong perfums might consider it absent.

This is the fragrance I wear for meetings with clients, I usually like to wear stronger, bolder and polarizing scents, on the thicker side but this is unforgettable... The first time I wore I got a sample I thought it would be another pretty girl scent but Rose Velvet is a wolf in sheep's clothing. This is a super modern, seductive, velvety rose...A rose done to perfection - I tend to dislike rose centered perfumes but this one made me understand what rose is capable of. The other notes are there to balance, smooth out and project the star of this perfume, it's so finely blended that you cannot differentiate them easily. I truly feel like a seductive, feminine woman in silk sheets, waiting to be pleasured to the maximum... Sorry for being so explicit but I'm smelling this perfume as I write this and it triggers my senses in a certain way 😈

I've been using Rose Velvet as my favorite perfume for the past week, accompanynig me to the office, shoping, important meetings, and leisurely strolls. My journey with this fregrence began in Macy's when I first sprayed it, and I was instantly captivated. I was resistant to purchaise it immidiatly. I was waiting for sale and then I decided that this scent should be mine. It is a perfect scent for those moment when you want to take a break from you intricate niche perfume collection. Elegant and pleasant, that doesn't overpower you and your surroundings. I find myself reaching for it every morning, and yes, I do reappply it throughout the day that doesn't bother me at all.

The prettiest pinkest perfect princess of roses. 🩷🩰🦢🪉 I love it so much. Powdery yet sweet, fruity rose on me, lasts at least 6 hours. It's almost a milk texture that's plush fluffy, can't tell if the drydown wood is ceder or sandalwood? I'm guessing sandal. Good especially in winter, spring, and fall. Odette if it's a happy ending version of Swan Lake. 9.9/10. P.S. Out of the many scents I've tried it does these 'basic' notes very well. The only issue is the price lol. Also disclaimer I love basically every type of rose (adelhydes/oud/ jammy/honey/gloomy, ect.) This velvet rose is definitely top 5 for me.

OH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! Shocked at the mediocre reception. Very rarely do I prefer the flanker to the OG, and while I actually really enjoy the Irresistible EDT (prefer the EDT to EDP), something about it dries down a little cloying and acetone-ish on me. Rose Velvet? Oh she's perfect. Sparkling, but velvety -- iris-y, a little citrusy, rosey, violety; bottle totally matches vibe - If you like: Amyris Femme, Young Rose, Flower of Immortality -- any of those sort of rosey sparkly peachy citrusy, Thumbelina (yes, that's my title for this sub-genre) scents, you will love this too.

I blind bought this after falling in love with their latest release, Irresistible Nude Velvet and it didn't disappoint. As expected they are similar only this one is more rosy. It has an earthy quality to it due to patchouli but I don't mind it. Fantastic silky powdery rose smell, with a hint of jelly beans sweetness and earthiness, long lasting. Very happy. It's perfect on its own but it can also be layered with other powdery rose perfumes. I find it goes really well with Narciso Rodriguez for her. If you like these types of scents, you will like this.

This is a very interesting scent! I find it to be masculine more than feminine in a weird way. It’s a nice scent and I like the way it smells but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite this far. I really enjoy it but there is something about it that is sort of forgettable. I still find it a good value and if the notes speak to your liking it’s very nicely done! Performance is great and the blend is done well! Give it a sniff, it is more unique than the other irresistibles.

Lovely fragrance, but out of my budget for now! Happened to get a sample from Ulta. It's potently rosy with nice sillage and decent lasting power, although it did definitely fade away after 5 hours or so. I don't know that it's a terribly unique scent but it is pleasant and feminine. Definitely consider this blind-buy safe if you're a rose enjoyer, but maybe a bit overpriced for the average consumer.

The reviews for this perfume are all over the place...this is an extraordinarily feminine scent where you will mainly smell the rose and rose water. I do not normally like patchouli, earthy, or woody scents, but it is fine here. It smells like taking a bubble bath in the garden of Eden. Definitely classy and elegant. I think this could work in any season except fall. Definitely daytime.

I’m typically not the one for the rose scents. But Rose Velvet is different: I can’t really point finger where this gorgeous powdery (or should I say, velvet) note comes from, but it’s there. This scent is very complex (oddly, given such a few notes listed), beautifully rounded, almost gourmand. It gives me all the grown-up cotton candy vibes, delicious, yet not at the least headachy.

The smell is BEAUTIFUL but it lasts one hour max on the skin or clothes. It sucks because its smells so pretty and innocent and just makes me feel like a powdery pink dust. It's not a fresh humid rose. Its more like a very light pink rose Is being sprayed with a light powder. Unfortunately the performance is so bad its not even worth paying this much money.

This feels nice and cozy to me. It has a creamy sort of quality which I love. I wear it on days when I want to feel relaxed but still pretty and feminine . I do tend to gravitate towards it more in cooler weather as the notes just seem to work so beautifully when it’s a bit cooler.

Love this. My ultimate pretty girl scent. She’s a sweet rose, slightly powdery and clean. I wish it projected a bit more but I think it plays into this effortlessly chic vibe that it has going on. I don’t ever wear pink clothes but this makes me feel like I’m wearing pink.

A sweet balance of rose, powdery, sweet, and patchouli. I usually dislike soapy rose smell like Armani Si, as it reminds me of old soaps from old soap gift sets, but I love this perfume. This is the type of rose that I like. Definitely my new fave.

god i love this, it’s like a creamy velvety rose bath. dries down quite powdery- which i personally like. iris and rose are some of my faves so i’m biased. ultra romantic, gorgeous scent.

Such nice fragrance, in my opinion is very similar to Chloe Nomade Original, but more rose faceted. Very easy reach fragrance and very versatile. I also like Nude version 🩷

A creamy, sweet, rose thats inoffensive and feminine. Sophisticated yet not old ladyish like some rose perfumes can be.

Very powdery rose scent that i love.

What a disappointment and terrible release from Givenchy. This is a synthetic black current bomb w/ pencil shavings. No rose to be found. I sprayed this in the air and tested it on skin and paper. A disaster. The rose here Smells just like the RL Romance flankers that I dislike so much. Nothing new or original here, been done before. Also, if they are giving perfumers these inferior "upcycled" or whatever ingredients to work with today how are they supposed to create wearable art? They can't. Art is only as good as the materials used to produce it. You can't make great art out of trash. Edit: 1/17/23 this reminds me of Armani Si another fake so called rose/black currant perfume I can't stand. There are so many better black currant and rose combos. I own quite a few but they were all made in the past or are all natural. If you want a good woody rose w/ a strong black currant, check out Providence Perfume rose 802. It is an oil but has good lasting power. This new flanker is Armani Si mixed w/ Beautiful Magnolia Intense. Fake black currant, fake rose, and a very dry iris w/ pencil shavings and a dry patchouli. Just horrible. Fake and dry are the 2 main characteristics for this fragrance.

This smells nice at first , very flirty and feminine, fresh flowers, and almost a bubblegum type scent . Then after dry down , it smells exactly like aerosol hairspray . Powdery sweet rose , the patchouli has a earthy dirty quality to it that only peaks out once dried down . I’m not sure . I like the regular irresistible and the very irresistible . I definitely don’t hate it but I’m not sure what I think yet . I swear I’m getting something familiar? Is it sunflowers? The sunflower perfume, I think this reminds me of that ? Or yes ! Someone else mentioned the Armani si, it does remind me of that in the dry down as well. OMGSH I remembered what it smells like !!!! You guys remember the Calgon body sprays , they had a morning glory one , It was blue , that is what this drys down to smell like

As someone mentioned in recent reviews, this perfume is, as its name suggests, a soft, velvety, powdery rose with hints of wood, not too intense, which makes it very easy to wear during spring and autumn. 🌹🌷✨️🍂 Personally, I don't like to wear it in summer because, when it's hot, it can be a little bit overwhelming or at least that's how I perceive it. This fragrance is also a little bit musky and girly, and I really like it, but I still prefer Irresistible EDP 💖 ** After wearing it every day for a month, I can say that it lasts well. In my case, it can last between 6 and 8 hours, even longer. I can also say that it is not fresh; in fact, it is a little overwhelming, at least that is how I perceive it. It is very powdery, and although it is a nice scent, I don't think I will buy it again.

On paper, this smelled like a super creamy and flirty rose, loved it. It was so intriguing and again, creamy. I’m a sucker for creamy accords, no matter if they’re gourmand, sweet or not. Therefore, I quickly sprayed it on my skin. I was really surprised because on me, it turned into peaches and cream! And it stayed that way for a couple of hours, actually. I really don’t know why the notes played out that way with my chemistry, but I was far from unhappy--- I really enjoyed it Unfortunately, the magic didn’t last very long. Past that delectable stage, it just turned into a generic sweet floral fragrance. Youthful, yes, but nothing to write home about. Weak longevity too. It may just not be for me, but it seems like a safe fragrance that couldn’t offend anyone imo.

This is really pretty! Feels like I just enjoyed a nice rose water bath. "Velvet" is the perfect descriptor for this powdery, cozy rose. I'm normally not the biggest iris fan but it isn't too overpowering here. The rose water note in particular reminded me of these Persian marzipan candies I used to make in a bakery years ago (not that this is gourmand at all, it's absolutely floral). It's a soft perfume, yet strangely alluring. It makes me feel elegant and mysterious yet still gentle and ultra-feminine. It's pretty magical! Macy's has a more in-depth notes list, btw. This starts out as a strong syrupy rose scent that's bright. It reminds me of heart-shaped lollipops for the first hour or two from the rose and black currant. In the dry down, it smells of roses and powder. It still has a punch even with the iris coming out. Warm floral scent. Iris really shines. I thought of Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir Rose For Her when I first smelled it. They're not alike but the way they both develop into a projection of warm musk (Narciso) and warm, powdery iris (Givenchy) from a rose heart felt similar. You may like the other if you like one.

This perfume is very feminine and soft. It smells like slightly dusty, powdery nude skin perfume with a subtle pink rose. The rose isn't dominant. If you know the perfume Good Girl Gone Bad by Kilian, it has the same DNA, but this one is more toned down and subtle. I think this perfume is very versatile. It's elegant enough to be worn in the nighttime as well as the daytime. It's also not overbearing, so it can be worn daily. It doesn't scream wow for me, but it's nice. Irrésistible Givenchy Rose Velvet is a soft and smooth little number. It’s not as iconic or impactful as the original Irrésistible, but it does have its own charm. Clean, fresh, floral. Sometimes rose smells kinda old to me, but this feels young. A bit of a fruity shampoo or very feminine deodorant vibe. Doesn’t tickle my nose in an annoying way or give me a headache like a lot of florals do for me. The patchouli is white patchouli and not heavy at all. Projection is better than the longevity. I wish the opening lasted longer! Overall very simple, pretty, and easy to wear. I like it.

This is a rose perfume done well. It feels very modern and has a lot of depth. The initial spray is very intoxicating in a good way. Strong florals with sweetness can be detected, which are well blended. It is an addictive scent to begin with but dries down to a generic musk skin scent within an hour on my skin. It is a lovely scent and I can see being many peoples signature scent.

I feel like this is such a hidden gem. Perfect daytime pretty-girl type of scent, a little bit sweeter and more youthful than the original Irresistible EDP. I picture this on a woman going for brunch in a sundress. For all the girls that want an easy-to-wear, inoffensive rose-based fragrance, I'd say go for this one over anything from Chloe or Ouai's Melrose Place.

Very pretty scent! If you're familiar with the OG edp in this line, it is a slightly deeper version of that to my nose. The patchouli isn't super prominent which is a definite plus for me but I prefer the OG. It still has that same shampoo vibe. Good longevity and projection. This would be good for spring/summer family events, Easter, Church etc.

Blackcurrant, rose, patchouli and iris. Although I like this iteration of Irresistible, the eau fraîche remains my favourite in the line as the Iris note is more muted in this fragrance compared to the other flankers. The sweetness, rosiness and powderiness of this perfume is perfectly balanced and enjoyable. That's all.

Feminine, elegant and soft. Pretty linear on my skin. It’s pleasant and relaxing, not overly sweet and not powdery. It’s a fresh but smooth rose. That is the way i like it. To be honest, it’s nothing groundbreaking but it’s pleasant and well blended. I recommend it to classy and romantic ladies.

If you grew up in Mexico you’ve smelled the body lotion called Hinds everywhere. It’s affordable and they have it at every Mexican pharmacy sometimes I see it at cvs here. This smells like that, it reminds me of growing up in the village and going on walks with the señoras in the evenings. 🥰

I got a small sample of this, the opening is warm, juicy floral with a hint of sweetness and as it settles on the skin it gets a bit woody and soft. The sillage is not very strong and as it developes, it becomes more of a skin scent. Overall it's a nice scent but nothing special.

Very pretty sweet rosy scent but it doesn't seem to have good longevity on me. Projection is good while it does last. It's about 3 hours tops on me. For the brand and price tag, I want more more time before having to reapply regardless of how lovely the scent is.

Delina clone + Soap note + stronger Rose Very good designer if you didn’t know Delina existed. Smells youthful like Delina as well. Id enjoy this on a woman. I didn't pick up on any Iris on first test, (and Iris is my favorite note in perfumery). :S 3.5/5 Woofs!

Elegant powdery rose. Sweet and delicate. Developed from aromatic to fruity, to sweet floral, to powdery floral then settled into a sweet musk, beautiful at all stages. The pepper was quite persistent in the first 2 hours. Intimate projection but long lasting.

this is gonna be very specific, but it smells like rose bubble milktea. if you're ever been to taiwan or china or just a south asia country in general, order a rose bubble tea and you will understand what i mean. it smells sugary sweet and floral.

Call me crazy but I can smell rose mixed with coffee in here. I've tested it 2 seperate times just like @lvm2025. Got my boyfriend to smell it and he also notices a coffee note. I really like it because of it, it's a lovely, cosy scent.

I'm usually not a fan of rose scents, but this is so beautiful and well-balanced. If you're interested in trying a rose perfume and don't want to smell like an old lady in Tea Rose, this is a great introduction to rose perfumes.

If you love roses this is a great choice! 🌹 A lovely scent but nothing groundbreaking. Safe and easy choice to wear at work. I can't detect iris at all, which I like. The longevity, at least on me , is pretty weak.

For some this may be too boring, but to me is a soft, elegant and a mature fragrance. It has a creamy undertone with a strong rose. I much prefer this version to the OG. Wearable in cold and hot weather.

Not a bad frag of today. If I had no frags, I'd buy it . Really velvety, irisy, and a little leathery. Gentle, oriental, I would not say that this is consumer goods.

To my surprise I like it a lot. I'm trying a sample, it's nice, fresh, rosy and 'young'.. It reminded of something else, but I forgot I wouldn't purchase it though

This perfume smells like going on a perfect date. It smells like a happy, sweet and romantic perfume to me.

A fruity rose. I really like how mellow the patchouli is compared to similar scents.
