My Couture

I got this in a perfume box lot auction last year. It is vintage & prob stored properly because I think people are describing perfumes that have likely gone off below. Mine is good. I sprayed this on a whim a few days ago & really fell in love with it. I have always been a fan of the Givenchy house since my teens. This bottle is from my high school years but doesn’t smell like anything else from that time or anything else is my collection. It’s perfect for early fall in my opinion. I fell in love with it being kind of old fashioned & haunting. And the dry down is really pretty on me. I get all the notes clearly. I usually don’t like black current. But here, I’m really into it being that dark sweet jammy note with the nutty almond, kind of sexy haunting fall combo, the lily of the valley & hint of jasmine. I love the dry down, just gets softer, nutty white floral, hint of soapiness from the lotv & jasmine, and maybe hint of woodiness. But the black current is there throughout but settles down as it progresses. Not much info on this anymore online, obviously difficult to find now. But it’s a rare kind of blend. I’ll be looking for a modern equivalent, sweet black current, white floral, woody or nutty. I currently wear James by Rosie Jane as my fall signature, kind of in line with it being a sweet, fruity white floral. So makes sense I stumbled upon this in my fall collection. I like aspects of this more. I love that Lily of the Valley & Jasmine over the Gardenia. And the juicy dark purple / black fruit kind of vibe of the black current. Haunting, dark gothic to me. Works really well with my chemistry for cool weather especially. I currently can’t stop wearing it. I’d like to find something similar but a touch more modern. But it’s a one off for sure. The only thing vaguely similar I have and wear for fall evenings is La Religeuse - Serge Lutens ... smells exactly like the color, purple, haunting, but quite heavy, strong, animalic and incense, like a church. I wore that a lot last fall. This is more light and fresh which is more my style this season.

Such a lovely perfume! I love My Couture, and I'm so sad they've discontinued it! It's one of my favourite perfumes, and about my very favourite white floral. Yes, it is. It's so pretty and fresh and delicate, and feminine and gentle, and very very elegant. It's just gorgeous!! It's such a romantic and beguiling perfume; I get constantly complimented, everywhere - people just even interrupt me to ask me what it is, they say 'oh I beg your pardon! But you smell so wonderful!! What is the name of your perfume - it's so lovely!!' It's amazing!! The lily-of-the-valley is the most gorgeous in any perfume I've ever smelled, and the jasmine and freesia are so sweet and fresh, it's beautiful! The fruit compliments these gorgeous flowers so well, and the almonds and musk give it a grounding that keeps it lasting for hours. It really lasts ages: about 11 hours before I have to put more on, which is really good!! But I put more on before that anyway! I can't help it, I adore it so!!!! And my husband adores it too (he wears it too, sometimes! He loves the fresh crispness of it!). It's truly divine!!!! And I love the elegant, classy, regal bottle too, and the colour is exquisite!

My Couture is the best white floral in my collection. Soft, feminine, elegant, romantic. Well balanced white flowers with musk. Longevity is at least 8 hours.

It is wonderful!!! So light, feminine, innocent and endlessly mysterious....

Picture a beautiful garden with blooming white and pastel flowers on a warm Spring day and this is what My Couture reminds me of. It's a romantically fresh, softly rounded, white floral fragrance. I can't pick the freesia, jasmine and lily of the valley separately, but they do meld into a wonderful scent. I would not normally have got this scent, except the man surprised me with it one Christmas. It doesn't jump out to me as a signature scent, but I do like it.

benchè floreale, con lievi note di fresia, gelsomino e mughetto che compaiono all'apertura, evolve piuttosto rapidamente su un fruttato di ribes nero e un bel fondo di mandorla e muschio. non esattamente il mio genere ma gradevole senza essere invasivo. già fuori produzione.

I had no idea that this was discontinued. I bought a 50ml on clearance, so I have absolutely nothing to complain about. Very nice freesia and musk, with a hint of almond. I like it!

As much as i love Hot Couture EDP, i do not like this one. And the reason why is because for me it is very unbalanced scent. The black currant is very dominanting and when the middle notes come out the mix of black currant and lilly-of-valley is simply awful and very disturbing in my opinion. Please do not remove this comment, since others might find it useful. Not every rewiev should be positive, so people like me wanted to make a blind buy might find it very informative. Thanks.

Blind buy fail for me but luckily it was very inexpensive. The black currant is dated and overpowering and it mixes with other notes to create a sort of cleaning product smell. Absolutely disgusting!

Maybe I got a bad batch, but I'm getting peppery, citrusy, sharp, very unpleasant. I coughed and sneezed and wanted to scrub this off. And I'm a fan of strong perfumes so it wasn't that.

Just received my 30ml bottle from eBay for $23. Low stakes for a disappointing blind buy. It smells off despite being well sealed & never used. I get screechy Windex vinegar that gradually calms down to a very synthetic soapy freesia industrial bathroom cleaner scent.
