Play in the City for Him

I really like the fragrance, but sillage and longevity are really weak on my skin :/

First impressions on a blind buy. The notes were hard not to pass up. I don't think the US has this for sale anywhere--yet. The scent opens bright and citrusy, calling to mind the original Play. As the scent develops it smells, to me, of an interesting experiment. Quirky, to say the least, but not firmly planted in the strange category either. The citrus stays throughout the whole development. Licorice, which I hoped would be as spicy as, say, Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire, is subdued here, never to outdo the citrus. You only catch the green powderiness of iris right after the alcohol dissipates, but the licorice steps right in rather quickly with this strange accord of woody and musky citrus. I find it smelling so weird at this point. The amber at the base smells more like a mineral musk rather than a resin or caramel type of amber. Ambegris, maybe? Bottom line, this smells cheaply made and puts a black eye on the original Plays. This is not an oriental, perhaps a slightly warm aromatic citrus maybe? It smells much more distinctive on paper, but it was more of a mess on my skin. This should be named Play in the City Garbage Dump! I've smelled Axe deodorants better than this! I don't think this will be on full distribution worldwide. And who the heck put this scent together?

Just purchased this yesterday and have given it a wearing. Do I like this? Yes...so far. Opens up with an opening of licorice and some nice citruses. The licorice gives it a unique scent that I don't have in any of the other bottles I own. What makes this fragrance interesting for me beyond the licorice is the added element of iris to the mix (as well as the woods). Longevity seems OK at this point. Doesn't seem to go through a significant transition but need to wear this a few times to really know. Nice fragrance, and better than some of the new fragrances I've tried out recently (Prada Luna Rossa, Versace Eros, new JPG Le Male fragrance). It's a nice spicy woody fragrance that gives off a nice pleasant and somewhat sexy vibe. For those who live in Canada, the Bay just got this...

To me it is too different than the original or intense which are amazing creations. This one seemed to be its on its own. There are so many great fragrances out there, this one did not stand out for me. It is very modern though and would work well for a younger person in my opinion.Definitely worth trying out though. It sort of reminds me of Black XS L'Exces...

I agree, Vancouver. I just have tried it. So different, but incredible! Iris, amber and licorice are on high notes there! In the same tuning to Decibel by Azzaro. But I prefer this so far! Great!

Let's see how this one is going to smell. I like both play intense and play normal. I agree that the notes seem interesting
