Based on the odd reviews such as: pencil shavings, grandpa's aftershave, clean bathroom while boyfriend showers, leather, toothpaste, etc. Well, let's just say I wasn't necessarily running out to get a bottle, let alone a sample. However, the curiosity did persist in the back of my mind. I've gone back and forth on getting this weird 'You Glossier'. Okay, okay, I gave in and ordered it. I had forgotten about it and one Sunday afternoon after being in the pool all day it arrived at my front door. Sunday deliveries, cool. I had just showered and thought okay, let's do this. I opened the bottle and sprayed the cap (I usually do that). First impression from smelling the cap: "Oh boy, this is Really masculine". I asked my husband to smell the cap and see if he would want it since it seemed too masculine for me. He smelled the cap and said: "H€ll no, I wouldn't wear that sh`t. That's way too flowery". I smelled the cap again, and again (to me) it smelled like a nice soapy clean, non-floral, 'masculine scent'. I asked him again: "are you sure, Babe"? "That's not Men's Mami, sorry", he replied. Okay, well, only way to find out is to actually wear it. I sprayed the inside of my left elbow and my right wrist (in my head to even out my test). Once on MY skin, it was a chic soft, feminine floral, sophisticated art museum, clean sleek modern scent. I was walking in a cloud of deliciousness. About an hour later I happened to walk past my husband in the kitchen. He turned around, smiled, and hugged me from behind. He kissed my shoulder and said I smelled really nice. Mind you I had sprayed my inner elbow and opposite wrist. Also, it should be noted that we're not newlyweds all huggy, lovey, and stuff. We've been married over 20yrs, with kids, all sorts of pets (3 dogs, a snake, and a tarantula) mortgages, cars, bills, busy life, etc. A good 4 or 5 hours later, one kid sat next to me on the couch and said "you smell nice mom". About 3 hours after that, Kissing the little one Goodnight, he literally stuck his nose on the inner elbow where I had sprayed and said "yeap, that smells good", rolled over and went to sleep. Almost 12 hours after the initial spray I kid you not, I was still in my cloud as if I had just sprayed it. How is that possible?! In bed that night I put my nose to my inner elbow and switched between my wrist. What on G-d's green earth?! It is so not masculine, not pencil shavings, idk. To me, on MY skin its a soft floral, slight powdery, but not vintage or baby powder, and the musk is head turning delicious. Maybe this is the note that gives it that edgy sophistication. I was even picking up a delicious and wet juicy berry fruit medley. Maybe even a pinch of pineapple. If this scent is to blend with one's chemistry, this baby was made for me. I am completely Hooked, Addicted, Obsessed! Definitely picking up another back up bottle. Because it depends on one's chemistry you can't go by reviews, and you really have to try it to see if its a good match for you. I can see a bit of similarity with Juliette Has A Gun 'not a perfume', as far as the airy/ozonic tone but not the same at all. I actually don't care for Juliette's not a perfume as that too is a hit or miss based on one's chemistry. Hope my experience helped a bit :D Update: Purchased two (2) new bottles for back up. I typically buy 'A' backup of perfumes I love. In this case, go big or go home right? (•◡•) / ♡

What a strange perfume...but I like it! Violet hits my nose intensely, which I find extremely unlikable. But here, I don't notice it's sharp scent nor the overt powderiness, although I do detect some powder. I totally get how someone described this as "lightly used gym equipment" (Lol!) and another as "sweet sweaty smell". On paper, it made me take notice, bc it was different, so I purchased an 8ml bottle at Sephora. On first spray at home, I couldn't decide if I liked it or not bc the odd "sweaty" scent. But as the day went on, I kept getting whiffs of earthy amber whenever I moved my arm. So I would put my nose to it, only to get that sweet, sweat smell (along with the other odd smell), more than the earthy notes. As I sat trying to figure out where I smelled that odd scent, it finally occured to me it was similar to "Molecule 01"! I personally wouldn't describe it as "pencil shavings", (as an artist I have tons of pencils) but I believe that's the consensus among others in labeling the odd smell. On me, the pepper goes away quickly and is only lightly detectable, blending nicely with the ambrette. Same with the floral notes. Unless I put my nose right up to my arm, this is more of a musky, earthy ambrette scent on me with a touch of the strange, ambiguous scent (ambroxin?). I like it more and more every time I wear it. As for longevity, after 2-3 hours, a weak, lingering scent stays on me quite awhile even after the initial full scent dissapates.

This scent has Cool Big Sister EnergyTM. As the youngest of 4 sisters, I know well the feeling this fragrance emulates. Glossier You brings to life the essence of how my 10 year old self saw her sisters growing up. It isn’t the sultry image of a woman that movies and magazines tried to sell her. It’s women as she sees them. Effortless and embracing of her own beauty. On me, You starts with a sharp pink pepper note that is softened by a subtle purple floral. It’s unisex, but slightly girly without trying too hard. After about 20 minutes, the pink pepper slowly evaporates and hands the spotlight to its iris notes, while introducing a creamy face powder scent — reminiscent of sneaking into your mothers vanity, and catching that first whiff of her blush as you click open the compact. The dry down immediately brings me to a moment in The Virgin Suicides. The sisters in their nightgowns, seated around a bed painting eachothers nails — caught in a daydream of Saturday morning boredom. It sits close to the skin in a cloud of musk that is distinctly feminine. On me, the ambrox brings out an animalic sweetness, in perfect harmony with the rest of the composition. If fragrances had eyes, you’d catch a sparkle in this one; but only if you looked closely. It’s intimate, it’s innocent, and it’s beautiful. I love this fragrance and the way it makes me feel — thank you Glossier, Dora Baghriche, and Frank Voelkl for crafting this heartfelt masterpiece.

The scent that got me into perfume. I do get a slight whiff of pencil shavings when I first spray it, but I actually really enjoy that part. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but the earthy woodiness of the opening feels comforting and familiar. Once it settles, the iris starts to bloom and the ambroxan becomes much more noticeable. Judging by how often people describe You as smelling like almost nothing, I seem to be one of the lucky few who can still pick up the ambroxan clearly. I thank God for that every day because it’s easily my favorite note. It makes a fragrance feel more intimate and gives it that “your skin but better” quality that I love. I’m also a huge fan of pink pepper, though I find You a little lacking in the peppery punch I get from other fragrances that use it. I really wish that note came through more strongly. Despite that, You has become a staple in my perfume wardrobe. It’s mild-mannered, universally appealing, and easy to reach for when I don’t know what else to wear. It works for almost any occasion and layers beautifully without overpowering whatever I pair it with. My main complaint is the longevity. It sits fairly close to the skin and fades faster than I’d like, especially considering how much I enjoy the drydown. I usually have to reapply it or spray it on my clothes if I want it to last throughout the day.

Okay full disclosure is that my bottle of this is old and I have no idea what formulation I have of this fragrance... That said, it smells really lovely. To me, You smells like what "sparkling" should smell like. The note that comes the most forward to me is pink pepper, but it's not an obviously peppery smell. To me it smells like how champagne bubbles or rock sugar should smell, but it smells neither of champage nor sugar. Somehow the image that comes to my mind is a sugar cookie with shiny sugar crystals, despite the perfume not smelling like a baked good. It smells fizzy and buzzy and light and beautiful. I used to wear this daily before I got more into fragrances. I stand by You as a great daily option. Sidenote, this is one of the only perfumes both common enough and distinct enough that I notice it on other people out and about. If you are really uppity about having a unique signature scent, this perfume is not gonna work out for you.
