Based on the odd reviews such as: pencil shavings, grandpa's aftershave, clean bathroom while boyfriend showers, leather, toothpaste, etc. Well, let's just say I wasn't necessarily running out to get a bottle, let alone a sample. However, the curiosity did persist in the back of my mind. I've gone back and forth on getting this weird 'You Glossier'. Okay, okay, I gave in and ordered it. I had forgotten about it and one Sunday afternoon after being in the pool all day it arrived at my front door. Sunday deliveries, cool. I had just showered and thought okay, let's do this. I opened the bottle and sprayed the cap (I usually do that). First impression from smelling the cap: "Oh boy, this is Really masculine". I asked my husband to smell the cap and see if he would want it since it seemed too masculine for me. He smelled the cap and said: "H€ll no, I wouldn't wear that sh`t. That's way too flowery". I smelled the cap again, and again (to me) it smelled like a nice soapy clean, non-floral, 'masculine scent'. I asked him again: "are you sure, Babe"? "That's not Men's Mami, sorry", he replied. Okay, well, only way to find out is to actually wear it. I sprayed the inside of my left elbow and my right wrist (in my head to even out my test). Once on MY skin, it was a chic soft, feminine floral, sophisticated art museum, clean sleek modern scent. I was walking in a cloud of deliciousness. About an hour later I happened to walk past my husband in the kitchen. He turned around, smiled, and hugged me from behind. He kissed my shoulder and said I smelled really nice. Mind you I had sprayed my inner elbow and opposite wrist. Also, it should be noted that we're not newlyweds all huggy, lovey, and stuff. We've been married over 20yrs, with kids, all sorts of pets (3 dogs, a snake, and a tarantula) mortgages, cars, bills, busy life, etc. A good 4 or 5 hours later, one kid sat next to me on the couch and said "you smell nice mom". About 3 hours after that, Kissing the little one Goodnight, he literally stuck his nose on the inner elbow where I had sprayed and said "yeap, that smells good", rolled over and went to sleep. Almost 12 hours after the initial spray I kid you not, I was still in my cloud as if I had just sprayed it. How is that possible?! In bed that night I put my nose to my inner elbow and switched between my wrist. What on G-d's green earth?! It is so not masculine, not pencil shavings, idk. To me, on MY skin its a soft floral, slight powdery, but not vintage or baby powder, and the musk is head turning delicious. Maybe this is the note that gives it that edgy sophistication. I was even picking up a delicious and wet juicy berry fruit medley. Maybe even a pinch of pineapple. If this scent is to blend with one's chemistry, this baby was made for me. I am completely Hooked, Addicted, Obsessed! Definitely picking up another back up bottle. Because it depends on one's chemistry you can't go by reviews, and you really have to try it to see if its a good match for you. I can see a bit of similarity with Juliette Has A Gun 'not a perfume', as far as the airy/ozonic tone but not the same at all. I actually don't care for Juliette's not a perfume as that too is a hit or miss based on one's chemistry. Hope my experience helped a bit :D Update: Purchased two (2) new bottles for back up. I typically buy 'A' backup of perfumes I love. In this case, go big or go home right? (•◡•) / ♡

What a strange perfume...but I like it! Violet hits my nose intensely, which I find extremely unlikable. But here, I don't notice it's sharp scent nor the overt powderiness, although I do detect some powder. I totally get how someone described this as "lightly used gym equipment" (Lol!) and another as "sweet sweaty smell". On paper, it made me take notice, bc it was different, so I purchased an 8ml bottle at Sephora. On first spray at home, I couldn't decide if I liked it or not bc the odd "sweaty" scent. But as the day went on, I kept getting whiffs of earthy amber whenever I moved my arm. So I would put my nose to it, only to get that sweet, sweat smell (along with the other odd smell), more than the earthy notes. As I sat trying to figure out where I smelled that odd scent, it finally occured to me it was similar to "Molecule 01"! I personally wouldn't describe it as "pencil shavings", (as an artist I have tons of pencils) but I believe that's the consensus among others in labeling the odd smell. On me, the pepper goes away quickly and is only lightly detectable, blending nicely with the ambrette. Same with the floral notes. Unless I put my nose right up to my arm, this is more of a musky, earthy ambrette scent on me with a touch of the strange, ambiguous scent (ambroxin?). I like it more and more every time I wear it. As for longevity, after 2-3 hours, a weak, lingering scent stays on me quite awhile even after the initial full scent dissapates.

This scent has Cool Big Sister EnergyTM. As the youngest of 4 sisters, I know well the feeling this fragrance emulates. Glossier You brings to life the essence of how my 10 year old self saw her sisters growing up. It isn’t the sultry image of a woman that movies and magazines tried to sell her. It’s women as she sees them. Effortless and embracing of her own beauty. On me, You starts with a sharp pink pepper note that is softened by a subtle purple floral. It’s unisex, but slightly girly without trying too hard. After about 20 minutes, the pink pepper slowly evaporates and hands the spotlight to its iris notes, while introducing a creamy face powder scent — reminiscent of sneaking into your mothers vanity, and catching that first whiff of her blush as you click open the compact. The dry down immediately brings me to a moment in The Virgin Suicides. The sisters in their nightgowns, seated around a bed painting eachothers nails — caught in a daydream of Saturday morning boredom. It sits close to the skin in a cloud of musk that is distinctly feminine. On me, the ambrox brings out an animalic sweetness, in perfect harmony with the rest of the composition. If fragrances had eyes, you’d catch a sparkle in this one; but only if you looked closely. It’s intimate, it’s innocent, and it’s beautiful. I love this fragrance and the way it makes me feel — thank you Glossier, Dora Baghriche, and Frank Voelkl for crafting this heartfelt masterpiece.

The scent that got me into perfume. I do get a slight whiff of pencil shavings when I first spray it, but I actually really enjoy that part. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but the earthy woodiness of the opening feels comforting and familiar. Once it settles, the iris starts to bloom and the ambroxan becomes much more noticeable. Judging by how often people describe You as smelling like almost nothing, I seem to be one of the lucky few who can still pick up the ambroxan clearly. I thank God for that every day because it’s easily my favorite note. It makes a fragrance feel more intimate and gives it that “your skin but better” quality that I love. I’m also a huge fan of pink pepper, though I find You a little lacking in the peppery punch I get from other fragrances that use it. I really wish that note came through more strongly. Despite that, You has become a staple in my perfume wardrobe. It’s mild-mannered, universally appealing, and easy to reach for when I don’t know what else to wear. It works for almost any occasion and layers beautifully without overpowering whatever I pair it with. My main complaint is the longevity. It sits fairly close to the skin and fades faster than I’d like, especially considering how much I enjoy the drydown. I usually have to reapply it or spray it on my clothes if I want it to last throughout the day.

Okay full disclosure is that my bottle of this is old and I have no idea what formulation I have of this fragrance... That said, it smells really lovely. To me, You smells like what "sparkling" should smell like. The note that comes the most forward to me is pink pepper, but it's not an obviously peppery smell. To me it smells like how champagne bubbles or rock sugar should smell, but it smells neither of champage nor sugar. Somehow the image that comes to my mind is a sugar cookie with shiny sugar crystals, despite the perfume not smelling like a baked good. It smells fizzy and buzzy and light and beautiful. I used to wear this daily before I got more into fragrances. I stand by You as a great daily option. Sidenote, this is one of the only perfumes both common enough and distinct enough that I notice it on other people out and about. If you are really uppity about having a unique signature scent, this perfume is not gonna work out for you.

my current go-to. i semi blind bought (had smelt it previously on friends but never tried on myself) and ended up liking it more and more as i wore it. i found that recently for whatever reason a lot of my usual perfumes made me feel more dirty rather than clean, but this is good. if i was rich enough i'd use this after a shower and before sleep, as its sheer enough and 'clean' enough that it works. i also like this for the fact that its a different take on the 'clean' perfumes i find people recommend, (white musk doesn't give me clean as much as ambroxan does). definitely is peppery but personally i thoroughly like that. i've been pleasantly surprised by it's sillage as i assumed people couldn't smell me but i've gotten multiple compliments whilst wearing it (most are still during hugs or etc). tbh i think this is a perfectly safe blind buy for someone who wants clean but doesn't enjoy white musk.

I first smelled this on a girl sitting next to me in class in college. She looked and smelled so clean, and this perfume contributed to her lovely aura. It's hard to describe this scent besides fresh, ideal for wearing to the office or to class, as it's inoffensive and the sillage isn't too strong. It became my office perfume, and the freshness of the scent helped me through many hot summer days in NYC, commuting in a packed subway with my nose buried in my wrist. I would say this is a year-round scent, but great for spring and summer especially. It may smell too "cold" on its own in winter, though I've personally worn it in the fall & winter as well. Many perfumes give me a headache, but this one does not. And though it lacks the complexity, it doesn't have a cheap or synthetic quality to it despite being affordable. I think this is a great beginner fragrance for younger women.

I like it so so much. I had a couple of bottles, which I used extremely fast. Definitely will repurchase soon. It's so fresh, but in intimate and sexy way, not a laundry/shampoo/drying sheets way, but in a delicate/flowery/beatiful muscy/wanna get close way. Its a very friendly perfume, which you can wear anywhere and anytime. So versatile! Go well with a school/work/office/date/walk/beach setting. The reference with the wardrobe piece: Glossier You is a crispy white button-up shirt, which is basic and sexy and can be worn for absolutely any occasion, giving effortless chic. P.S the only complaint I have about the solid balm version. It's a horrible quality product which dry down in a minute, has a weird texture and no smell at all. If you want a mini to carry with you, just get a travel spray size.

I'm lucky, I guess, because this smells divine on my skin. Almost all musks/ambers smell good on my skin, and I adore them. "You" smells sweet, even after the iris fades. I can smell it for a good while, and I don't care that it's only a skin scent...I use most fragrances just for me anyway. As long as I can smell my wrist and smell that sweetness, I'm good. I don't get the pepper or pencil shavings some people mention, although I can see the pencil shavings if I use my imagination. I too, get anosmic with this if I sniff it too long, so I have to limit my sniffs and the goodness all comes back. In fact, it's more like a cloud than anything, where I can smell the scent better if I don't sniff directly.

this used to be my signature scent and my favorite from the 'you' lineup. now, dedcool's xtra milk is my go-to. only thing is, on my skin, xtra milk performs very poorly as compared to this. long-story-short, i prefer this performance but prefer xtra milk's scent. but this is still so good that im thiking of going back to this as it is so good to layer with other fragrances. i just really dislike the twang/zing because of the pink pepper. i prefer a softer, fluffy, and round skin scent, this one is sharper leaning. the dry-down is very comforting tho ! i loved layering this with commodity's milk orchid (it was SAUR good). i'm a fan, not the biggest, would not in the slightest mind wearing this again :3

glossier you og is honestly one of the easiest, no brainer reaches in my collection a lot of days. i do miss the longevity of the old formula, but the scent makes it continue to be worth it to me. personally, i love a cedar note, so i don’t mind the “pencil shavings” feel of this; i actually enjoy it. i feel like the iris and pink pepper blend beautifully with the base notes, and this is overall an extremely smooth and well blended fragrance. i also consistently get compliments while wearing this, so that’s always a bonus. overall; i love glossier you. i don’t care if it’s “basic” now, it is legitimately basic for a reason.

signature scent worthy it's a beautiful skin scent, an amazing cozy fragrance, does not last a long time, but it's great for smelling kind of clean and warm, and goes with warm and cold weather. one of my favorites! although it's not the strongest or longest lasting I already have gotten a lot of compliments. I's very difficult to describe what this smells like (with clean and warm being the easiest way) but I think that mystique is one of the thing that attracts me to this fragrance, and I think that applies to other people as well. I've been told I smell like very different things by different people while wearing You.

I’ve been wearing Glossier You for several years now, and I just keep going back to it. There are still days where I look forward to putting it on in the morning. The scent is a light clean musk, a little floral, a little powdery. It’s one of those fragrances where it’s sometimes hard to smell on myself, but other people will tell me that I smell good, and I can sometimes smell it on other people. The scent can also change depending on what other scented products I’ve using. It sets into skin in a way that doesn’t feel like I’m wearing perfume; rather, I just smell good.

Despite the reformulation, ‘YOU’ is worth the hype. It’s clean, cozy, & gentle...the ideal skin scent. The first spray is sharp, but then, the delicate musk, semisweet iris, & subtle powder set in. The longevity? TERRIBLE. You can stack the balm, the body lotion, & the perfume, but the scent will dissipate within 10 minutes. Until they fix this, my favorite dupe is ‘MOI?’ from Montagne Parfums. It’s pretty dead-on, maybe slightly brighter (a bit more floral?) & longer-lasting. I wouldn’t be crushed if Glossier never got their formula together.

While the original formulation will always reign supreme, this will always be THE perfume. I literally received a work email after stopping by one of my accounts asking what I was wearing. Yes, it is everywhere. But it’s still unique to the wearer (IMO anyway) and I will wear this until I die lol. On my mom, this smells like in Gymboree, when they’d do the parachute and bubbles in the 90s (very specific but if you know you know) in the absolute BEST WAY. Also, opened me up to the world of skin scents and I’ve never looked back.

Although I liked the original formula more I did end up buying a full size of the new one after trying a few samples over a couple of months. I love this so much, I wish they did it in a more beast mode version as I would have this as my all time favourite. On my skin once the initial pepper note fades it turns into a beautiful musky, Iris without being overly powdery. It really is a your skin but better scent. I’ve found that when I’m hot I can smell it way more so I think it will be a great choice in summer.

i started wearing this perfume in 2017 when they first launched it and for about six years it was basically the only fragrance in my collection and my signature scent. now that it's everywhere i no longer reach for it as often, but it remains one of my all-time favorites. perfect blend of sweetness, musk, and florals that just hints at warmth but still smells fresh. pink pepper adds a lovely bit of brightness and bite but this scent fades down on my skin to something much more musky and gently sweet.

iconic and era defining for a reason... its the perfect amount of interesting but not too interesting. spicy and refreshing to smell against the gourmand hive mind I find literally everywhere else. sexy if you want it to be... normal if you want it to be... it's so versatile, you can play into the clean girl vibe or the spicy musky notes in it. I feel like any girl could wear this; no matter what you are going for, you're going to smell good. . im glad this is the popular scent of right now :-)

This is my go-to office and daily perfume. I do feel like the smell is super recognizable now and don't want to smell like every other person on the street BUT there is a reason it's so popular. It smells really clean and not super strong. Perfect for the office. The wear is decent--I've gotten people complimenting me on it throughout the day. Also a great layering perfume! Unfortunately, I never got the smell to OG of this, so can't really say much about that.

I love this fragrance, but I don't tend to wear it on its own as I find it works best as an enhancer than a standalone. After every shower I put the Glossier You body lotion on first and then spray the You perfume on top, and then layer on top of that whatever perfume it is I want to wear. It doesn't go with 100% of all fragrances but it's definitely versatile and gives an edge to whatever other fragrance I'm wearing. It's just become my base, essentially.

Great stuff. Hard to describe, but undeniably good. Slightly sweet, warm, skin-like papery-iris. Kinda like pencil shavings in the best way possible. I've tried many "your skin but better" scents, many of which I simply cannot smell, and this one easily tops them all, probably because I am a glutton for iris perfumes. I'm a guy who usually sticks to his fresh and masculine fragrances, but I'd 100% wear this one. Nearly bought a bottle on the spot.

This reads like a structured skin scent rather than a padded one. It behaves like a frame with a thin laminate layer, which keeps it airy while still smelling like perfume. The structure likely comes from ambroxan-type woods (pencil shavings) and light musks, with iris adding the slightly powdery skin effect. Unlike some ambroxan perfumes, I don’t go nose blind to this one, and it stays noticeable but controlled. Linear, clean, and easy to wear.

Smelling this in 2018 altered my brain chemistry. It’s the scent that made me fall in love with skin scents and I’ve been benchmarking every perfume against it ever since. I picked up a sample at the Glossier pop-up in Copenhagen and ordered a full bottle almost immediately. Years later, it’s still the fragrance I’ve returned to most. It’s clean, slightly peppery, soft, and somehow just makes YOU smell good rather than smelling like perfume.

i really wish it had more longevity, but my favourite scent ever. just a comfy clean person scent, smells like slightly peppery, ambrette-y swedish fish candy in the cleanest way possible (on my skin!). it pulls very sweet on my skin personally and the pink pepper is not very "spicy". description: swedish fish candy scented dry shampoo, featuring a slight pencil shaving accord to make it balance. if only this lasted more than 30 minutes...

really like this scent, bought it twice so far. i hear the formula is different now, in 2020 the scent was so pungent but i love loud scents like that. in 2026 i can definitely tell the difference its a little more subdued now. to sum it up i would say its a stern floral scent. it does not change throughout the day, does not blend when layered up, and does not adjust its volume. it is unwavering in its duty and only like $60.

Absolutely obsessed and in love with this one. This is a perfect everyday skin scent. Slightly peppery and musky, this is perfect to me. There are some musky fragrances that lean a little too powdery, but I don’t get any powder here. I just feel so cozy and comforting when I wear this. I know the body cream gets some weird reviews, but honestly I loved it and thought it smelled just like the perfume and lasted forever.

This is definitely one of my favorite skin scent perfumes. I love pairing it with If You Musk by Bath and Body Works when I want to overspray but don’t wanna use this bottle too much. I usually use it on pulse points, use If You Musk everywhere else I want it on, then use You if I wanna respray. The OG version lasts longer imo, but the second reformulation was good, too. Definitely worth buying a second bottle!

This one varies so much from person to person and is absolutely not a safe blind buy. I love the way it melts into my skin over time. First spray it can come off harsh and a bit chemical-y or I also can pick it up as clean scalp smell lol. Very unique and will smell a bit different on everyone. For my skin it develops as a light almost vanilla like cozy scent. Get a tester before buying the full bottle.

One of my go-to scents for being in enclosed spaces. It sits close to the skin and I think it totally smells like "your skin but better". It smells like a clean person who just got out of the shower that used unscented products. It doesn't necessarily smell clean itself, but just more like a person's natural clean musk. Great for layering with other clean and fresh scents!

Love this, wish it stayed longer. It is a pretty skin scent, light, clean and a bit warm and sweet. Sadly, it is gone in 30 minutes for me and I am not one to reapply fragrance constantly. If there is something similar with better longevity I would be interested. Too many if these barely-there scents that smell nice but are less perfumes than faint body sprays.

This perfume is the equivalent of Black Honey lipstick in the fragrance world. It complements everyone’s natural scent so beautifully, giving the skin a warm, lived-in, radiant feel. I resisted the hype for quite a while, assuming it was just another basic crowd-pleaser. But after trying it and wearing it for a while, I’m definitely joining the fan club.

this fragrance is so hated on that at this point it’s more esoteric to enjoy it. i think it’s timeless and endlessly addictive. the simplicity of the notes and the way they come together is beautiful. the pink pepper makes the iris and musk feel so unique and androgynous. no one could ever make me hate You

My most complimented perfume! That doesn't happen often but when I wear this someone inevitably asks what I'm wearing. Fresh, peppery amd woody with a tinge of sweetness. On me it lasts all day and projects well. It's also an excellent value. I have repurchased this perfume and will continue to do so.

I'm getting so sick and tired of these clean fragrances not lasting longer than a couple of hours. The musky iris is a sensational combo and so effortlessly sexy but I wish it lasted the day, or 6 hours at least! Glossier needs to release an extrait that smells the same. They would make so much money.

Still one of my absolute favourites. Nostalgic and familiar yet utterly unplaceable, it reminds me of memory itself. Like a copy of a copy of a memory. Makes me feel clean and new. Makes me think of my first best friend’s mom...maybe? Contradictory yet simple. Love.

Oh my goodness, I spritzed this on my wrist while reading the reviews and came across one that mentioned it smelled like old library and lipstick. I put my nose to my wrist and that is exactly what I smelled, what a spot on assessment! I must say I love this scent.

i love this one. honestly the opening was awful to my nose but after not even two minutes it turned into the cleanest, prettiest skin scent. i get the hype now. it’s so perfect for everyday wear and i imagine this would get the compliments rolling.

I have all glossier scents and this one will always hit. If you wanna make sure you smell fresh and clean this is the most suited perfume for you. Safe to wear in the office for sure.

i wore this to work and it was great. it lasted a really long time on me but didn't leave a trail unfortunately. it's not too sweet and it's very comforting
