Silky Woods

Silky Woods was released in April 2021 and its fragrance was created by Hamid Merati-Kashani (Firmenich). The inspiration came from the story that talks about the first visit of the botanist Joseph Banks to Australia, in 1770. There, he discovered exotic plants and ingredients, yet unknown to science. Silky Woods inaugurates a new pillar, a new Exclusive Collection called Botanical Series, bringing to the world a creation that exploits the Agarwood, as well as other precious wood species from Australia, such as Sandalwood Spicatum, for example. But don't be fooled: it's not just “another fragrance with OUD”, but a composition that makes use of the Aquilaria trees from the Daintree rainforest in Queensland, which are exploited using sustainable methods (keyword of the current scenario). According to its founder, it is the first perfume on the market to explore Australian agarwood. Silky Woods is classified by the company as an oriental-gourmand perfume, full of exuberance and sensuality, capable of carrying soft and silky wood tones from sunrise to sunset. To this end, notes of Ceylon cinnamon, saffron, suede, Australian OUD, Madagascar ylang-ylang, jasmine, Tahitian vanilla, tobacco leaves, frankincense, and Australian sandalwood were combined. Silky Woods brings that kind of fragrance that every luxury collection should (and must) have. At the same time, I believe some will say it's not innovative, but I disagree! Goldfield & Banks didn't have anything like it in its portfolio, not to mention the bottle, which was created by the master glassmakers of La Glass Vallée (France) and comes lacquered in gold, as a tribute to the Australian Gold Rush. What can be said is that the brand has now a fragrance that matches the competition (niche segment) when the intention is to explore the heat of amber and incense, without having to rely on that old concept of desert and Arabian nights. On my skin, Silky Woods is a suede delight soaked in creamy and floral vanilla, sprinkled with spicy saffron and a cinnamon note that plays between the sweet and the salty. An oriental (despite this term is being banished) of pure quality, with balsamic and aromatic tobacco leaves, which enhance the masculine spirit of the fragrance, while the ylang-ylang flower defends feminism and equal rights. Merciless and opulent, she combines very well with the exotic note of vanilla, and, together, they show delicacy and sensuality. Its OUD doesn't have those medicinal nuances, nor is it excessively woody and dark. On me, it highlighted the sweetest tones, almost like chocolate. Finally, a creamy sandalwood and a slightly smoky incense exhale like a warm sigh between two passionate panting mouths. Silky Woods makes me believe that there are still good reasons to remain in love with the world of perfume. It is an ode to fragrances that make use of good raw materials, especially a creamy and quality vanilla, different from those synthetic and full of syrup aspects that abound today. Not to mention the high concentration, which results in great projection and excellent durability. Without a doubt, it has already become one of my favorites of the house. And if you are one of those Brazilians/foreigners who go in search of novelties, including in other countries, I strongly suggest you consider Goldfield & Banks Australia creations. I can barely wait for the next fragrances from this Collection!

It is an ode to fragrances that use good raw materials, especially a creamy and high-quality vanilla, unlike those synthetic and syrupy ones that abound today. Not to mention the high concentration, which results in great projection and excellent durability. Without a doubt, it has already become one of my favorites from the house. And if you are one of those Brazilians who go in search of new things, including outside the country, I strongly recommend considering the fragrances from Goldfield & Banks Australia. omg this is straight up a MIRACLE!! just stopped by a lovely perfume shop today to find a hypnotic white floral scent for my grown ass, then out of nowhere I tried this, which had NOTHING to do with a floral. and boy... OH boy... WHAT THE H WAS THIS??? I've been wearing countless perfumes for over 16 years now, even worked at a shop as a seller at one point, and I have NE-VER came across a scent like this! it's very very hard for me to buy sth immediately after I try it but I just couldn't leave the shop without it. the wood notes in this are very heavy. straight up smells like a very pleasant and unique tree which is also mixed with a very pleasant and sexy vanilla. I'm a woman with hard edges that dares wearing striking fragrances even for my morning coffee and this is sth I wouldn't be able to miss. super pleased to see they had a 10 ml travel size version so I got it before I'd splurge for the full size bottle. but oh man. this is IN-CRE-DIBLE!! I'm getting ready to celebrate my birthday at a rooftop bar with an incredible view with all my best friends. this fragrance will be my scent of the night, becoming a part of my look with my gold flower embroided white, schiffon dress and gold heels. such an outfit deserved a scent like this, as the scent itself is a golden flower embroided, very well made, white schiffon dress in a bottle. silk, schiffon, specks of gold, and glam... I LOVE this!! it's incredible! also, lasted around 6 hours on me. not disappointing as I'd have no issue reapplying this for the whole world to take a whiff off of me if it'd wear off sooner anyway. I'm truly grateful for everyone who has a hand in making this beaut come true. and sending it my way to become a part of my life.

First thing first that i’m sure some people are looking for opinions on is personally i like the og better than the elixir. I have used samples of both, but to me the elixir is too dirty for me, i like the og more because it’s a simple dry woody vanilla fragrance that really isn’t complex but just simple and neat and enjoyable. I recently bought this and it just came yesterday, while i do love this fragrance, most of my complaints actually form from the bottle itself, not the smell or performance but the actual bottle, surprisingly. I might just be very picky but i mean i paid $150usd and the bottle came nicely but where the atomizer connects to the top of the bottle, it’s not flush with the top, there’s small edges that aren’t fully connected to the bottle and it throws me off and just gives me cheap vibes. Next, the cap, at least on mine, doesn’t stay on when i hold the bottle by the cap, out of all of my fragrances this is the only one where the bottle slips out of the cap when only holding the cap, I do have the 100 ml and my 50 ml bottle of sunset hour does not have the same problem so i’m assuming it’s solely for the fact it’s a bigger bottle duh lol, but still annoying bc all my other 100ml bottles hold up just fine. next, it is SUPER hard to see how much is actually in the bottle, i have to be in a pitch black room with a bright flash light up against the bottle to even remotely see inside, even then it’s nearly impossible, i get it that the point isn’t to see the juice but i mean i can see inside my musk therapy and vibrato easily. i’m just being picky but smell wise i love it lol.

This is a 10/10 for me. I hate notes of suede and saffron, but somehow adore this because it's SO smooth and well-blended. Silky woods is an apt name for it. I do pick up similarities to Althair, but I hate Althair because of the prominent, scratchy, rough orange blossom and sickeningly sweet praline. This is WAY better and more expertly blended. Althair is very clunky by comparison. Vanilla Woods from the 7 Virtues is the poor, hillbilly cousin to this - it pales in comparison - it's not as complex, has a very ashtray-esque smokiness to it, the performance is terrible, and it dries down to smell like raw beetroot. This is the most superior version of this kind of complex, woody vanilla. It's definitely not gourmand, I don't know what people are talking about, but the vanilla IS sweet, which I think helps make it truly unisex - I'm female and just bought the 100ml because I love it so much. Probably my favourite woody vanilla. Not blind-buy safe though, as I've heard people say that they find the wood dirty-smelling in here, but I don't get the stinky wood element at all, just beautifully blended tahitian vanilla, woods, and barely there, smooth suede. Also, for the people saying it's weak - I was nose blind at first and confused because many said it was Beast Mode, and fast forward a month later, I could smell it in all its glory and every time I wear it, someone standing arms' length away from me compliments me. So clearly it projects.
