Southern Bloom

Had to come by & leave some love for Southern Bloom, it’s a bit polarizing lol I don’t feel it’s generic at all, in fact the opposite! Both my friend & I found it stunning, wearable, incredibly long lasting & intense; we both fell in love & bought fsb after sampling a fewX. Def worth the $ imo. Generally a woody floral, but with a bit of sweetness from the coconut=elevated but not tropical. Jasmine is present but not cloying; Ylang is prominent & creamy next to a gorgeous powdery iris. Musk, sandalwood, amber & vetiver help to deepen & ground the frag while the Cassis lends a bit of tart fruit or dark berries/grape which beautifully compliments the powdery woody florals. The apparently rare Brown Boronia is prob what makes this so unique to my nose & differentiates it from other florals... it’s BEAUTIFUL going on and just gets more intense & magical the longer I wear it. Goldfield & Banks clearly uses high quality ingredients bc the longevity is extraordinary. Sampled w 1/2 pump & was eternal. Like ALL day... 12+ hours for both of us & remained fragrant & potent throughout. Plus sillage RADIATES... 2-4 full sprays would be plenty. Literally an aura of fragrance trails around you. The scent hits every time you move & just breathing feels like a pastime, every inhale comes with a little gift, I could smell this forever! It lingers like those cartoon vapor clouds à la pies on a windowsill. Outstanding performance, one of the best. Evolves beautifully too but still maintains its unique dna. 4-6 hrs it matures into a dynamic, luxurious powdery floral. Not as deep/sultry etc as TF velvet orchid (which I love), def diff enough to own both. And the dark purple juice is too perfect. One of the most impressive frags I’ve come across re scent, performance, quality etc. already in my top. *Also tried Velvet splendor, Sunset Hour, Silky Woods & Bohemian Lime. eh... imo they don’t compare & I still like SB best.

Southern Bloom is for me, overall, and as i have writen un the title, a superb flowery fragrance. The scent here is very natural and really...just great. The flowers shine un this perfume. What se find here the most is Boronia. I havent seen before this flower and i dont know how It smells but i think It must be something similar to an orchid since i get something like this un the mix. Them a very rich iris, more in the líne of Dior homme than un the líne of iris des champs, a very powdery iris with the make Up vibe and not a fresh and vright iris. At the same time the Jasmine gives some dirty character to the perfume what is really cool. What is weird is that I feel something like honey here but probably would be the ylang ylang with the coconut and the blackberries. The opening is amazing, very dense and intense and attending to that It could be for sure one of my favourite perfumes. But thwn, after half an hours more or less, It becomes much more subtle and soft and adquiring a very short distances projection. The longevity is good but not also a beast. Therefore I find It a perfume more for warm days and probably better for daytime. I think It is totally unisex but men Who are afraid of flowers...please avoid It! :) Scent: 9 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 6 Quality/price: 5 Versatility: 8.5 Originality: 8 Global: 8.5

"Nooo its to feminine, the floral scent is nothing for my masculine appearance" Southern Bloom shows off, that floral scents are possible for men, even tho that women and men's fragrances are mostly just marketing. Making it one of my favorites scents that are unique, since no one else might wear this well at least know about it. Its also one of my most versatile fragrances, its very good in Spring matching the floral time of the year, for Autumn adding with the Sandalwood and Ember same for winter time and the summer? Perfect in summer evenings out, making it a really versatile fragrances. Why not stand out? Stop with only buying the mainstream stuff, learn about other perfumes from one brand that others might not even know about. I searched up for one and came across Southern Bloom, not finding any reviews on TT (oh wow really tt? let me be). I also blind bought this, since the notes catched my interest, trying out this floral scent and see there I fell in love with it. If you feel bold, wanting to try something knew, this is your scent. Is it BB safe as a man? No, regarding the price and special scent. I will always now protect my floral scents, making it a unique fragrance in my collection :)

Firstly, thank you to hblakes70 and Blossomlove for sticking it to FORAND for such a misogynist, ageist, AWFUL “review”!!! Secondly, I LURRRVE Southern Bloom!!! This is probably my favorite of all the Goldfield and Banks perfumes I've tried - and I've tried and owned quite a few, including Ingenious Ginger, Pacific Rock Moss and Sunset Hour, but that beautiful powderiness in Southern Bloom has me swooning every time I spray. It gives it a vintage touch and I've become such a sucker for this kind of scent, I fall in love easily with the powder prominent perfumes. What makes Southern Bloom unique, though, is the way the powder blends with the tropical notes; the coconut lends a creaminess (but I don't detect the smell of coconut whatsoever --thankfully!) and the ylang ylang and jasmine give it a slightly sweet, tropical vibe, and I've certainly not smelled many 'powdery tropical' perfumes, so this really stands out for me. Southern Bloom is beautifully crafted, very easy to wear with good performance and definitely signature scent worthy! No MATTER your age or gender!

I really enjoy this fragrance and I think any lovers of Alien will also enjoy it (not that it smells the same... but similar vibes and notes). It smells of this delicious blend of jasmine, it has warmth from the ambery and vanilla-like creaminess and then a whisper of woods to create depth and luxury. It's very feminine, sweet yet luxurious and interesting. I can't smell coconut or fruits/mandarin, I can only identify the white florals, warmth, richness and sweet decadence this exudes. There is something very unique about this perfume yet I feel like I've smelt it before... I can't put my finger on what it reminds me of but there IS a perfume it smells identical to I just cannot recall. Any lovers of jasmine and amber scents will love this, it's got the DNA of alien but built entirely differently... the jasmine and amber, that intense aroma, it's simply beautiful and I would rate this very highly! I am sad it doesn't have amazing lasting power on me for what seems like a powerhouse perfume upon first smell!

I looove this scent. It is a heady, tropical white floral scent. I tend to be obsessed with this scent profile so when I sprayed this it smelt amazing!! It is also super strong I smelt it instantly in the air since spraying it on the test strip. I am Aussie but I don’t know what boronia smells like, I don’t know if it’s really featured in this perfume? I get thick white florals especially jasmine with the rich coconut, the other notes are just supportive to my nose. It really is beautiful if you love these type of gardenia/jasmine/coconut scents and the performance seems great, but on the other hand I don’t think this is very unique because I have two other non-niche perfumes which smell VERY similar to this aka SDJ 87 or Recreation Beauty Joyeux (non toxic option- similar but no coconut) . Because of the price and being able to get the same thing for a lot cheaper I don’t know if I would buy a full bottle but I still think this is beautiful and stunning and smells great!

I really love this. When spraying it on my arm I got a huge whiff of powder, so was a little worried that would dominate, but it actually turned into a stunning flower bomb. I don’t know boronia, and at first I thought this smelled like a lot of other floral fragrances I’ve tested recently, but then there is definitely something unique. I like the initial sharpness, it’s a really fresh floral, but it does feel a little disjointed at first, and I can’t work out why. After half an hour or so it settled and softened and then I got the creamy powder with a bit of vanilla, which balances out the freshness and is thankfully not very sweet to my nose. It makes more sense now. I’ll see how it lasts, but I think this is a really great all-rounder, can see it any time of the year, day or night. I just plumped for a sample, but if I still like it on a second spray could very well see myself buying a bottle. I don’t have anything else like it.

I live in Tasmania so was keen to try this given the boronia is harvested from nearby beautiful Bruny Island. It’s such a unique and intriguing fragrance and I’d encourage others to test it a few times - while I wasn’t sure at first, I’ve had this for a month now and have grown to really enjoy it. The sillage is excellent and I’ve had compliments from my family members today wearing this at home. It’s got a vintage floral feeling and moves into a delicious powdery iris fairly quickly on my skin. The coconut is detectable but with this composition doesn’t have a tropical or sunscreen effect, it just adds a dry sweetness. The colour of the juice is true to the Tasmanian boronia flower and I’m so happy to have this in my collection. It’s a fragrant connection to my home state but also one I’ve really come to appreciate in its own right.

Decades ago I managed to smell a fabled flowering potted brown boronia in a plant nursery. I’ve never seen one since. However they are being commercially grown in Tasmania for the essential oil trade. My memory of it is powdery, rosey, very musky sweet and radiant. More of a yellow flower. I swear I can smell it in this classically complex multilayered floral perfume that I have finally sampled then bought. It is rendered modern by quite a strong coconut note which dominates the initial dry down and that’s my favourite part of the scent as it’s quite unusual amongst the contemporary dominant white florals. All in all a delightful feminine perfume that is very wearable and classic and multifaceted without feeling dated.

I have loved ylang ylang since my mother had a small compact of cream perfume in the 70s which I am sure was named just Ylang. That said, I don't find this dated or Grandma-esque! I hate hearing that about a fragrance it's so ageist and stupid. I'm getting a lot of ylang ylang and jasmine but not in a super tropical way despite the coconut being in there. A slight tang - perhaps the mandarin? I cannot distinguish boronia, not knowing how it smells. A pleasant, powdery, exotic floral scent with some vintage vibes - done subtly. One of my favourites from the discovery set. Unlike some of their other fragrances this one doesn't feel limited to Summer. mood : vintage drama, dusky nights

"Southern Bloom" is made from a rare flower that only blooms for a very short time on one tiny island on the other side of the world. I will probably never see this flower in my life. I've also come to understand that this rare flower's oil is the most expensive in the world. Maybe it's that story that makes this perfume seem so opulent and luxurious. Or maybe it really is just a well balanced, beautiful floral smell. Either way, it makes me feel feminine, sophisticated and pampered when I wear it. It's cozy and sexy at the same time. This has become my favorite scent from Goldfield and Banks and I will likely buy a full sized bottle in the very near future.

I've wanted this for 3 years or more. Finally got it and it is so (to me) worth the price point. The longevity makes it worth the money for me; designer fragrances are just as costly and don't last as long. This is a warm floral, which I wear day and night. 1 spray lasts me through a full shift and beyond. My co-workers tell me 'You smell - expensive.' Definitely not going to appeal to everyone, this is very much a niche fragrance. So, if you are curious, I suggest the sample pack to try this and the other Goldfield and Banks fragrances. That's what I did. Only 1 other G&F works for me, but I truly love this one, so will be keeping it.

A very interesting, unique and beautiful scent. I find it hard to describe, it smells "purple" to me probably because of the boronia and iris. The coconut is of a dry coconut flakes kind of smell. I also get wood and musk. If it had a texture it would be lightly velvety, powdery and radiant. It's so beautifully blended. I understand its price tag is because of the boronia which is harder to source. Unfortunately it's longevity is too short lived for me, for the price, and because it's so beautiful I crave for it to last a little longer, and little more longer..

This is by far my most complimented perfume. Even sometimes when I can’t smell it anymore people will tell me I smell amazing. I’m not sure what it is about it, but it’s just such a cozy, clean, floral with a touch of woods and musk. The first few minutes smell like a clean baby diaper, so don’t judge it too quickly, because it does morph into something really nice. I’m still surprised at how much of a crowd pleaser it is. I have over 250 perfumes to choose from and since I’ve got this, I wear it at least once a week. I’m really happy to own Southern Bloom.

An exceptional floral woody fragrance. I use floral first, because it leans floral rather than woody. The iris, jasmine, and boronia really dominate. The initial is almost disconcerting. Very sweet, and the mandarin and coconut almost clash. But it settles within a few minutes into the floral explosion you’d expect. Reminiscent of the Australian Heath, where the boronia comes from. A unique feminine perfume that deserves more hype. Beautiful and nothing I’ve smelt comes close. A real head turner. Lasts 8 hours and projects well for 2-3. 8/10

Beautiful perfumery that leans feminine IMO. It's a sweet jasmine ylang ylang supported by an edible iris powdered coconut, and a smooth sandalwood. Someone said magnolia and it might be in there too. It smells like sweet blooming flowers covered in nectar. This would make an excellent gift for a lady friend and the backstory about the flower, it's price, and rarity makes it something I'd consider buying for a loved one. I'm not sure I can pull this off but don't take my word as gospel; wear what you want. Scent 8/10 Performance 7.5

This is to die for. I had read the notes and wanted to try it for so long but testers were always empty wherever I went. I finally tracked it down and oh my, was it worth the wait. This is a beauty. It's like Velvet Orchid's powdery sister, with a beautiful twist of boronia. If you've ever smelled boronia in bloom you'll get it, it is a gorgeous scent. Absolute best of all this brand's line up, which is a compliment given they have some real hits with Silky Woods and Pacific Rock Moss.

🔹 SOUTHERN BLOOM, for spring 🌻 Starts off with a very bright and fresh white floral aroma coming from boronia flower natively from Australia. Afterwards the ever so slightly indolic jasmine take place in front and center. Soft creamy touch from coconut & ylang ylang start to appear as it develops. It settles into a creamy woody sandalwood base. I love this one a lot because of the cohesive wearing journey.

Not sure about all the weird negative reviews. And certainly not sure about all the misogynist ones. I love this Fragrance. I’ve owned it for a few years now and I always break it out during the spring. I feel like Goldfield and Banks has some unique note specific to Australia and I really appreciate this particular fragrance very feminine and very pretty.

This is just beautiful on my skin. Southern Bloom feels uplifting. This is a well-blended, interesting, unique, and exceptional woody/floral scent. On my skin it lasts about 6h. I find it unisex. Update 11/19/23: Just ordered a full bottle of Southern Bloom, this is amazing on my skin.

As a Tasmanian I had to have this! Beautifully blended sweet floral with a touch of woodyness and that gorgeous Tasmanian Bruny Island baronia which makes it so unique ❤️

For some reason this perfume really does something for me. I find it almost soft fresh but juicy floral. Makes me feel relaxed and just nice in a way I can't explain.

Gorgeous fragrance. Deep, rich florals with creamy sandalwood. It's like nothing else I own. I think I'm in love! Longevity and sillage are more than adequate.

Extremely well blended uniqueness. I get a licorice woods sweetness in a lovely pleasing way. It wears coconut buttery floral.

Southern Bloom was launched in 2018 (in limited edition) and was created by François Merle-Baudoin. The inspiration was the Bruny Island, located on the coast of Tasmania. The region is known for quiet beaches, rainforests, wildlife (wombats, kangaroos, and even penguins), divided by a narrow strip of land and famous for its shrubby vegetation. The creative concept aims to honor Boronia and its flowering season in September. Boronia is a genus with about 160 species of plants and is present in several territories of Australia. The most fragrant is known as Brown Boronia (Boronia megastigma). According to the company, its absolute is extracted through an exclusive and high-priced method (US$ 10 thousand / kilogram). To create the fragrance were combined notes of mandarin from Italy, absolute of cassis from France, absolute of Boronia, ylang-ylang from Madagascar, Jasmine Sambac, Iris from Italy, vetiver from Java, Australian sandalwood, coconut accord, amber, and musk. The fragrance is classified by the manufacturer as floral, creamy, exotic, pure and opulent. When applied, it brings an intense and resinous floral scent, quite peculiar, reminiscent of a mixture of plum and cherries. Immediately, there is greater identification with the female audience (even being marketed as gender-free). Southern Bloom has a quick and noticeable evolution, so milkier nuances begin to emerge in a short time, and the intensity of the ylang-ylang appears, with nuances that can resemble the smell of bananas. To enlarge the floral aspect, the jasmine arrives with all its indolic content and this mix of flowers, accompanied by the coconut accord, sometimes made me think of the presence of tuberose. The fragrance continues to evolve and the heart brings more acidic and green nuances. It is the cassis, with its tonic and fruity facets, making way for a creamy and rich base. It is not difficult to think of sunscreen, body lotion or anything of the type, as there is a lactonic facet that remains constant. When compared to previous fragrances, Southern Bloom brought a major improvement regarding projection. But although it has a solar aspect, I don't think it is as pleasant in the hot weather as it is on colder days, at least on my skin. It's definitely a great fragrance, but it will not please, immediately, the male audience who, culturally, tends to prefer the aromatics and the woody. If it serves as guidance, I would say that people who like fragrances like Terracotta Le Parfum (Guerlain) or I Love NY Earth Day (Bond No9) will delight in this creation, because the scent of Boronia is really different and carries an Australia's special touch, ideal for those who enjoy a bit of exclusivity. Particularly, I really liked Southern Bloom, because even two years after the launch of the collection, it managed to show that there is still much to be explored in terms of raw materials and within the concept proposed by the brand.

Southern Bloom is one of those fragrances I like but am not sure if it's for me. I found this to be quite powdery and dated. It smells like something the rich aunties wore in the 1970's. The iris note is almost headache-inducing, taking over the fragrance in a way that drowns out some of the other notes. I wish the ylang-ylang and jasmine were stronger to balance it. I also get an astringent "green" note that almost makes my eyes water. My nose interprets it as a patchouli scent, but it is probably the combination of the boronia with the vetiver. Unfortunately, I do not pick up the coconut note, which is somewhat disappointing. That would be a big help with mellowing some this fragrance's sharper edges. Instead, I get something deep and almost medicinal. In the far recesses of my olfactory memory, something about it is reminiscent of La Vie Est Belle. I might even describe this as "sexy" if it weren't so cloying. Performance is absolutely insane! I applied this fragrance yesterday morning and wore it to work. We wound up having a fire drill and had to go outside. It was raining, so my upper torso got damp. Somehow, this intensified the fragrance instead of toning it down. An hour after returning to the building, two different people mentioned how I smelled pleasantly powdery. (One also proceeded to tell me the scent reminded him of his grandma "in a good way," whatever that means.) I continued to wear the fragrance the rest of the day and could still smell it at the end of the day. Later on, at home, I took my evening shower and went to bed. I could still smell this fragrance in my sleep. This morning, as I got dressed, I put on a completely different fragrance (Khamrah Qahwa), but I could smell Southern Bloom over that one. It is 3 p.m. on Day 2, and I STILL SMELL IT! At this point, I'm thinking I might have to scrub myself down with rubbing alcohol to get it off of me. Needless to say, if longevity matters to you, this is definitely one to check out. Overall, it is a classy, elegant scent, but one that will wear YOU if you aren't careful how you wear it.

I stand corrected. I ordered the sample pack and have been making my way through it, in previous reviews I stated that Goldfield & Banks fragrances generally project for 2 hours and then you'll get another 2 - 4 hours as a skin scent, which is true in most cases. This one is the most potent of the bunch, projecting 2 hours and then giving a good 6 - 8 hours closer to the skin before fading. It makes sense that it would command a slightly higher price, and I'd be willing to wager that due to the increase in performance that this scent is the best value. It's still pricey, and the performance increase may just be on my skin so I would always test before investing. The scent itself grated on me at first, but I have grown to love it. A nice woody floral, all of the notes are identifiable to me but the strongest are the Boronia and Jasmine. It reminds me of my great aunt's garden who took great pride in tending to her Australian natives. The coconut isn't strongly present, I feel that it just gives the composition a slightly lactonic edge, possibly even a mild beachy vibe. The last whispers of the dry down smell of woody amber, the boronia still somewhat present. It feels mature, refined, elegant and feminine but does not really suit a man in his early 30's with a penchant for Oud. I think I would love to smell this on a 30+ y.o professional with a warm and friendly spirit. Very nice.

this seems deceptively strong when you put it on - but it's only about 4-5 hours. Kind of disappointing as I really like it. It starts off a bit on the sweet side with what smelled to me like a mountain of violets (although I know there are no violets in here) with some coconut mixed in, and then becomes super dry and powdery with the sandalwood and vetiver amping things up in the end. In the drydown alot of jasmine comes up. mixed with sandalwood it reminds me of rosendo mateu no 6. It smells very vintage and French to me and it is not deep and dark like velvet orchid or black orchid so the comparisons to that are confusing to me but I guess there are some similarities. There is a unique boudoir vibe with a tropical edge this fragrance, very different from some of the other offerings from goldfield and banks. Fwiw, after i wore it recently my daughter said "why does it smell like babywipes in here" but i still like it.

Southern Bloom is an interesting scent. I've not smelled a brown boronia, despite living in Australia, so I was curious. I didn't especially like Southern Bloom at first application but the perfume boutique salesperson said "give it half an hour, it becomes more beautiful". She was right. The woody notes step back and the florals bloom. The fragrance has a creamy, softly sensual vibe - it's definitely a unique floral (can't compare it to any other). It's feminine, elegant and very wearable. Back to the opening: The initial woody notes have a faintly tea tree / astringent element (described below by rosecat) and I think it's this aspect of the opening that didn't appeal to me. Fortunately, it fades fairly quickly. That said, others may like that part of the scent. Longevity was moderate on my skin (about 5 hours).

There is something unusual going on with this fragrance, because I can’t identify what I’m smelling. I don’t know what Boronia smells like, so that is adding to my confusion. Lots of votes says this is similar to Black Orchid, but Sunset Bloom feels classier and less abrasive. I do agree that there is something similar to Dusita’s Pavillion D’Or— and when I looked, lo and behold, they both have Boronia listed. I own the Dusita, so no wonder I like this too. The other notes are not sticking out on their own, and the only listed note I’m not picking up is vetiver. Performance seems above average. So I like Sunset Bloom, and would like to find a used bottle down the road.

This is the first one I've tried in the sample kit that I immediately liked. It's a little dark, it's a little earthy, it's a little sweet, a little creamy, a little soapy, a lil of everything and in very good proportions. Agree with firstmate below, not tropical. This is a classic fall type fragrance. I do pick up on this undercurrent of sour metallic something which seems to be in all their fragrances and is pretty weird but I think it's meant to be a powdery accord cause it reminds me of makeup. Overall I like it, I'm not floored by it and probably won't remember it but if a bottle fell into my lap I wouldn't be mad. 7/10

This is such an interesting scent. It’s a floral, but with many different facets: there’s definitely some creaminess from the coconut, as well as a good dose of powderiness from the iris. I also get a rich ‘stewed fruit’ vibe, which might be from the cassis? Plus there’s also a slight hint of a tropical scent from the Ylang Ylang. I do like it but I almost think there’s too much going on: it’s like the perfumer was trying to make three different perfumes in one scent. I will say that it packs a punch, with powerful sillage.

Was lucky to have a friend to sniff from. It’s quite lovely. A really nice floral. I don’t feel it’s full bottle worthy for me, but definitely for someone! I love this brand as almost every one makes me feel as if I’m in a whole new place! **this is to the reviewer FORAND below ⬇️ ?! This middle aged miserable man below , described this perfume as a, “post menopausal woman”. Excuse me sir? Sir? Have you looked in the mirror lately?? Southern Bloom is a nice and interesting fragrance that shines in the evening. It's an elegant, rich, woody, floral, iris scent. It is opulent, but has some lightness (compared to Tom Ford Velvet Orchid which is rather heavy). It's a going out type of scent. It's leaning slightly feminine, but a man can definitely pull it off. EDIT: I tested it in the morning and it made a great impression as well. It can be a daytime fragrance.

A pollinic bloom of flowers mixed with a fruity burst of blackcurrant berries. Very dry, slightly creamy, with a light woody backbone. None of the florals greatly stand out from one another -- although maybe I just don't know what boronia smells like -- but the ylang-ylang and meaty coconut take it in a tropical sunscreenish direction. Moderately strong projection fades over 4-5hr, longevity 12hr+.

I really liked this Parfums, it’s very nice and hard to describe I don’t get very much coconuts which’s a shame cus I like coconut in Parfums. It’s really lovely and fresh , that’s why I feel so sad because of the lack of longevity and silage , I sprayed three hours ago and I can barely smell it on my arm.... I will give it an other chance to see if it works out throughout the day in my neck etc

Starts off way too clean and soapy, I almost washed it off. I'm glad I didn't. Gave it a few minutes and it starts to be creamier, rounder. You get sweetness from the coconut but I wouldn't classify this as a "coconut" fragrance-- the powdery florals are front and center. Ladylike, comforting. I actually really like this for spring and summer, although maybe when it's not too hot out.

Southern Bloom has good longevity and sillage. The florals are unique; I would describe it as 'cold stones' and it reminds me of my trip to Alaska (which isn't related to 'Southern' in any sense of the word). I wore this 5 times before reviewing. The trick is not to over apply and it wears better on cooler days. I recommend to anyone looking for something 'different'

A very original floral scent with coconut. Boronia Tasmania is a new note for me. With the note of coconut and ylang ylang, this perfume is more for spring and summer to my opinion. It is bold, the sillage and longevity are excellent! A nice niche fragrance with an excellent quality. 8/10

What I like about this fragrance is that it’s unidentifiable, yet elegant. I would also say that the fragrance is rare. If you like to be unique, this is for you. A warm cassis with a hint of sandalwood, just the tiniest bit of iris, on a musky base.

Don't find it super unique, but it's nice. Rather soft, warm, happy and friendly. It's not giving me woodsiness, mainly flowers and coconut, which is not a surprise considering the name of the perfume 😊

I wouldn't buy a full bottle, but I have to admit, I can never stop smelling this when I put it on. The coconut-iris combo is just soooo good and balanced nicely with the brighter florals.

Here goes a well-blended powdery sweet floral fragrance. It is also wearable all year round, and it is good for work, and socialising with family and friends.

There is definitely similarity to Velvet Orchid, but it is quite unimpressive.

[GFB discovery 1 of 10] Not sure this opened much of at all or if it just skipped to the punchline for me. No idea what Boronia smells like, having never been by AUS, which may help give context. It smells a bit like jasmine and a sweet, maybe slightly floral scent. This sits on a really creamy/full body, that my partner thinks of as Coconut, but if it is, it's very dry coconut meat. Soft, faint. Nothing is terribly overpowering, soft, light, powdery, but only slight and in support. Not dry, creamy and full. Things that seem contradictory, but instead are balanced. Not a tonne of notes, at least not that I recognize, very well blended. Lasts for hours easy. Project and just existing. Well mixed and pleasant enough even if a floral is not what I'm out for. Not enough to change my mind, but decent none the less. This concludes another wade into floral territory because, well, the sample is there and when in Rome...

I certainly get the Velvet Orchid comparison: they're siblings, not twins. I've no clue what boronia smells like but I get nectar-like florals and a strong ylang note with a touch of powder on a woody base. A suggestion of coconut and a tropical feels, though not in your typical Soleil Blanc suntan fashion. A dry, Australian flavour, not a Caribbean one. I also pick up an accord similar to that in Aussie's shampoos (UK folks will know what I'm talking about)...perhaps this is the boronia? Unfortunately most of the time ylang turns pissy on me and this is no exception. I actually don't mind that when by myself, but I'd be conscious of that in public. Velvet Orchid is similar enough on me to not need both. I do like Southern Bloom but I'll pass on buying it.

Cooee, this perfume from 'straya is fair dinkum choc a bloc with a bouquet of violets and will have you gobsmacked how much it's just like a wombat who's put in a bit of hard yakka to make a dog's breakfast of the flower decorations. You'll be in a good pozzie and having a ripsnorter, as when it drys down it reminds me of a time that this one sheila and a bloke were bathing in their bathers and thongs at the local pool. Av a go of this one if you would chuck a sickie just to eat some vegemite off the kitchen counter. Bloody oath I don't want to rev you up too much, but if you prefer grannies's place over yours then you better take a squiz. 5/10. Also femme, and not for me anyway tbh.

I've never smelled a boronia flower directly, but if that's the most prominent note when this is first sprayed, they are indeed fragranced in lovely way. This is a fairly intense floral at first, which dries down to include some creaminess from coconut and sandalwood, without either of those notes being super obvious. As it matures on my skin, the iris and jasmine come out prominently, which is not a positive for me personally. If this remained how it begins, I'd be a fan. But the scent it evolves into is just too powdery/iris and powerfully jasmine for my liking. However, if powdery iris and jasmine are your thing - this is definitely worth a try.
