Sunset Hour

54 year old male. Tall. Huge appreciation for ADP, ATH’s (big fan of Aaron), & Xerjjjj; I appreciate quality naturals and high end synthetics to make it WeRk. Goldfield and Banks is the ultimate winner, in my opinion. So, with that... know that I’m already bias. I mentioned my age, gender, and height because I’m that old cop/military masculine leaning/looking guy who should not like this scent. Yet, I love it. The real trick here are the quality ingredients which are all slightly hinged and hooked to the just-right amount-of-faint-to-mid-faint musk - the musk is just right and is what makes this menagerie of fruit pop and all without being cloying or annoying. I might say it rides right on and down the mid-line of unisex, with a slight lean towards the left. Yet, when the right movement happens (and especially combined with warmth) and that musk connects - it leans to the right, but only briefly. The drydown is where this scent shines. I have to confess: I cheat. Outside of the above mentioned scents, I almost always either ambient layer or layer atop one of my essential molecules scents, and I have to share that: M1 alone works very well, but it also works very well with nearly anything. M1+Mandarin is what makes this really work for me and drives it more masculine. M1+Orris does too, but changes it a hair too much. I’m likely to try the latest “Cologne 01” once I get a bottle of it with this. As for the M1+Mandarin: The mandarin keeps the core of the original scent but makes it last longer and obviously pops the mandarin and works well with the other fruity notes - believe it or not: the rhubarb is the other quiet operator here. Think: the musk is the navy seal who needs a little exposure, ATTENTION, book, or boastful interview and the rhubarb is the Delta or CCT operator - it’s the: who was that... or, what’s that amazing smell... yet, you never will know unless you know. * PLEASE Know, even though I layer - I certainly believe that this, as do MOST good colognes, absolutely does NOT need to be layered, and, personally, I’m careful not to change the scent profile, but rather enhance... So, and Again, this cologne is amazing by itself, but lends well to slight enhancements, that just make it pop or a touch more subtly unique. Bohemian Lime is still the top dog for me from this house. Yet, this is definitely deserving of the top three to top five (at the furthest) list, yet it needs time and try’s. It needs to be opened, sprayed several times, and left to sit with its cap off for at least a week (in a well ventilated area), and then tried again several times to really judge if it’s for you. - Aaron Terence Hughes colognes are mostly in your face and quality... Avant Garde meets and melds with historical fragrance craftsmanship routines for sure - and are (mostly all) packed full of quality ingredients. - ADP colognes, especially Mandarino Di Sicilia (which pairs well with this and almost with Bohemian Lime) are quality too, but last shorter than a fleeting hug from your favorite Aunt. - Xerjoff is a great house, but too costly - sometimes.... - B & G is the winner - the silent operator that puts in the work! Not in your face, but more or less lasting-power, has familiar and unique but all quality ingredients, and always has your six: slow is smooth and smooth is fast with this house; it’s absolutely hiding in plain sight; all you need to do is pay attention and learn which scent/s you love most. In short, their scents are like a green beret ODA: Team A are the best scents; team B are the best layering combos and almost alike, and the warrant officer of Team B is the Pacific Rock Flower of the scent line up: the wanna be... lol Try them all, and don’t be shy to snag a decant or 10ml of this amazing cologne that reads more feminine on paper and is kinda in real life as well, but definitely dances the dance of both sides. You will be happy and probably move up to a bigger bottle. Best to you all.

A Fragrantica member persuaded me to try this in the comments under the new article about Pacific Rock Flower and I have been interested in trying it for a long time so I finally went ahead. She said that a sample was not enough to give you a real appreciation of the fragrance and she was right. I was especially excited to experience the Quandong note as it is a native bush fruit to Australia and from what I can see it is the only fragrance listed on Fragrantica to have it. Some people have reviewed this as an unremarkable fruity body spray, I disagree. I definitely sense an unusual fruity note and I can only attribute it to the quandong as it is definitely not just raspberry or mandarin. Some people have mentioned peach but as far as I can see there is no peach note, there is desert peach and if I'm not wrong I think this is another name for the quandong fruit? Aussie reviewers/experts please correct me. So for me there is definitely a unique aspect to this fragrance which is otherwise a tart fruity, woody, light Summer perfume with a pleasant almost powdery, dusky, cloud-like drydown with a lot of woods and an eventual fruit salad syrupiness which as someone else has suggested DOES bear some resemblance to the dry down of Coach's Wild Rose . I happen to love this one but I do feel you have to spray generously to get a good scent bubble on your person. I'm clearly late to the Goldfield & Banks party but I love the packaging and colours, very reminiscent of New South Wales sunsets (although the blurb says it is Western Australia inspired), Bondi coast type, modern, stylish, minimalistic vibes. I have fond memories of Sydney so this fragrance lets me hold on to them a little more vividly. Keen to try other fragrances in the range especially the Pacific Rock Moss/Flower duet. Little update: still infatuated with this fragrance and did a little research on the quandong. It is a tart fruit with more vitamin C than an orange. It has a lentil like scent apparently and I think this is what is giving this fragrance it's somewhat earthy dry down. I love it. I can't stop wearing it. Definitely give it a good chance. mood : anything goes

Storytime: I used to work at Sephora and I got a 2ml sample size of this to try. I just chucked in my purse and went to a birthday party, I was in a leather halter top, the venue was this very nice indie restaurant with a bar and open balcony overlooking the city. I spritzed this ONLY on my neck and wrists. I got stopped all night by guests asking me what I was wearing. I was complimented over and over. People would come by and say "I'm sorry, I have to smell you again, it's amazing." I would just pull out the little sample and let them take a picture of it because I'm not a gatekeeper. (Now, I wish I lowkey did.) This is a hot girl scent. Hands down. It has fruits but isn't overly sweet, so it reads more adult and not childish. The jasmine gives it that feminine quality. Usually I find jasmine overpowers other notes and takes the stage but not here. The pink pepper and ginger gives it that warmth and spice which is really sexy but the sandalwood grounds it into something so elevated and expensive? It's giving very mysterious hot girl you saw while on vacation and she smelled so addictive when you touched shoulders at the bar but you never saw her again.

I don't enjoy super sweet fruity fragrances. At all. And had I read the other reviews prior to blind buying this one (I found an amazing deal on a tester bottle), I may not have ordered it. But I love this brand and I must say, I don't have the same take on this at all. Its fruity, yes. A bit sweet/tart with a slightly spiced vanilla. But the peach and the pear in this are stunning. You know how sometimes you can describe a perfume as "cold"? It's not a smell...it's more of a feeling. If you know, you know what I mean. This one?? Possibly the first perfume I've ever felt perfectly described as "warm". Not a cozy blanket warm. More like a sun on my face warm. I can't imagine a more perfect summer fragrance. I have 250 bottle of perfume. And thousands of samples. And although I think I always smell fabulous, I don't always get compliments, even on some of my personal faves. Today? This one? Three compliments. One from a total stranger. So this is a big winner in my book. It lasted 4-5 hours on clothes. A bit less on skin. I'd say more femine leaning, but it would work on a man, for sure. No regrets!

There is something distinctly 90's about this when first sprayed - I totally get the comparison to 'exclamation' or other very 90's "mall" perfumes, and yet - I REALLY like it! For one thing, I don't mind that feeling of nostalgia the first moments bring up, and that part is short-lived: the 90's era soon evolves into a very juicy, tropical fruity aroma intertwined with succulent salted caramely-benzoin notes, somewhat in the vein of Prada Candy, but much fruitier. Fruity florals are a pretty easy sell for me, but when enhanced with a gourmand twist? I'm swooning. Sunset Hour is super enjoyable - lounging poolside on a cruise ship drinking a mai tai at golden hour vibe; casual, crowd-pleasing, super easy and fun to wear. This has decent longevity and sillage on me, so it's one I'll reach for often! At The Perfume Guy's recommendation - I layered this with Pacific Rock Moss and it's divine. I find it also layers really well with Ingenious Ginger!

Sunset Hour is pure joy in a bottle. I absolutely love this fragrance. Cooee, this perfume from 'straya is fair dinkum choc a bloc with Kirks orange soda and will have you gobsmacked how much it's just like a dingo mucking around and mad as a cut snake in a hard candy store. You'll be in a good pozzie and having a ripsnorter, as when it drys down it reminds me of a time that this one sheila and a bloke were having a pash in the shed, and looked weird when we asked what the john dory was. Av a go of this one if you would chuck a sickie just to eat some orange icy poles at the park. Bloody oath I don't want to rev you up too much, but if you prefer intimate romantic films then you better take a squiz. 9/10. This is such a lovely gourmand scent, might be slightly too femme for me, but my second favourite of theirs.

This is genuinely one of the best summer/spring fragrances I’ve ever smelled, unisex but really feminine leaning but a guy can still wear it, much better if you layer it. Really safe blind buy. Got compliments instantly after getting it. It smells like when you go to the mall and you get that fruity fresh feminine smell that makes you feel so happy for no reason, it’s so uplifting. The type of fragrance that makes you smile just because of their smell. Sweet, fresh, relaxing, nostalgic? for some reason. I can see why it’s call “sunset hour”. It takes you to a beach with the sunset about to end, everything looks orange and the breeze of the ocean hits you with a sweet smell. This is genuinely the best summer/spring fragrance

This is beautiful. It’s fruity & sweet but not synthetic. I get a lot of the fruits- mostly peach and raspberry with a smooth, dry sandalwood to balance out the sweetness. It’s hard to pick out the notes because they transition so smoothly. I actually don’t like caramel or half the fruits listed in this fragrance because they’re always so synthetic and screechy to my nose. This definitely isn’t that. Such a stunning fragrance that’s composed beautifully. I noticed after a few wears that this is highly dependent on skin chemistry, it’s almost always beautiful but every so often it switches up and smells sickly sweet on my skin. Definitely a likable fragrance- but one that I highly recommend testing on skin first.

Absolutely unique with the fragrance constructed around the Australian native fruit, the Quandong or Santalum acuminatum. For those with a sharp eye and botanical knowledge, you’ll note the genus, Santalum, which is the same as sandlewood. It’s a relative of the species used in sandlewood oil production. The fruit is fragrant and astringent with a rhubarb like flavour. It’s beautiful and like nothing else, although you could maybe combine rhubarb and peach and get somewhere close. The fragrance captures Quandong really well, paying respect to what is one of the most important Aboriginal food sources in arid inland Australia. Fruity, sweet, and floral. Leans heavily feminine, but absolutely beautiful.

Sunset hour is the perfect summertime fragrance that it’s not the typical mix of the same notes: white and yellow florals, suntan lotion, coconut milk, solar notes. It’s a sparkling, fresh, fruity scent that is slightly sweet, creamy and spicy in the same time. A fruity cocktail you’d have while you’re at beach parties! It’s a bright, uplifting scent that is built on the contrast between the citrusy, fresh top notes and the creaminess of cashmere wood plus sandalwood with a soft touch of warmth from the benzoin. Sunset hour is such an enchanting and unique blend, perfect for both bright, sunny days and, as the name suggests, for the glorious, golden, sunset hour!

This is warm, thick juicy fruits done in a way that keeps it from being completely feminine - as a guy I wear and am obsessed with this! Maybe I am biased because of the name, but this is going to be really gorgeous in chilled warm summer evenings - but totally wearable at any time. I think it’s “thick” enough to wear as casual wear in the winter - I have been, and I almost always get poor projection and longevity from fragrances in general, let alone a fresh fragrance in winter in England, but for some reason this lasts really well & projects well on me. But so does Ingenious Ginger, so maybe something about G&B formulations just works well with me.

I love this so much but unfortunately, the performance is such a let down. After spraying, it has such loud projection for about an hour and then turns into a skin scent that goes on for only 4 hours on my skin (doesn't last that long on clothes too. I find myself going for resprays quite often). But while I can still get whiffs of it, it is beautiful. Very very fruity from what I assume is the raspberry and quandong peach. Nicely blended. I never take gender into consideration because I believe anyone can wear anything, but this 'leans slightly feminine'. I still wear it when I have short classes where I know I'll only be out and back in 4-5 hours.

This fragrance really is a beautiful one. It's sweet but not sickly. It dries now to be a very soft, warm fragrance that really does fit the name. I think it's a great one for day to evening wear plus I feel like the ginger and cashmere wood notes make it wearable for the autumn too. I was deciding on this or BDK's Pas Ce Soir but I opted for BDK because it was also similar vibes with a fruity top note and ginger with other warm notes plus it lasted a tad longer than Sunset Hour. I think next time I'll give this one a go because I think it's a no-brainer really. There isn't much to dislike about this one.

This a excellently blended and beautiful froody-silky fragrance that smells both sweet, a little fresh, and smooth, the woody aspect leans more silky smooth and more "relaxed" compared to usual sandalwood accords if that makes sense, it leans feminine but it's unisex in my opinion, good for summer and spring, and good for and casual occasions. Longevity and projection are both medium which is fine. If you love raspberry, I think there's a good chance you LOVE this fragrance I reckon, it's both skill smooth and sweet 'n' fruity, but not so much that it can be cloying. Overall this is a solid 8.2/10 for me

Oh how I adore this scent! It's different from anything in my collection. It's warm, a little fruity, a little sweet. But not too much of anything. It feels sophistcated, yet fun. The name is spot on - it's Sunset Hour. Your skin is still warm from a day on the beach but you're now freshly showered, hair still a little wet, fresh gin and tonic in hand, looking out at the ocean (or your own garden). It's been great day - you are content. The sun will be setting within the hour and life is good. This is what I get and I love it. I purchased the travel size and the day it came I ordered a full bottle.

On the opening, I can understand why people say that this leans more feminine. It is incredibly sweet, fruity, and has nearly no unisex aspect to it. But about 10 minutes later that dry down seamlessly shifts into a more woody yet delicate masculine projection. And I can’t get enough of it, I literally Let my forearm hold my nose hostage to keep getting a whiff of this. To add on, working indoors, this lasted me from 9 AM until 5 PM and projected moderately. It leaves the middle notes in the dry down and the skin scent base note is a Woody gourmand that isn’t afraid to perform well outdoors still.

It's a mom who shops at TJ Maxx, drinks her wine out of Corkcicles, and loves Shonda Rimes dramas. She's at a Sandals resort in St Lucia, dressed in a caftan and thong sandals embellished with hardware, living what she believes to be her best life. While none of the above describes me, I still find this fragrance totally delightful. Sunset Hour is an Enya-soundtracked '90s Crystal Light commercial in a bottle, but it manages to smell fresh and current. Tart, tangy blush fruit and cocktails, the ice is slightly melting. Tipsy at 5pm, and there are no consequences.

Super unique yet wearable! Sunset hour opens veeery fruity, juicy peach style. A very distinct woodiness sits in the background and truly rounds the scent to make it so different and identifiable. There is nothing quite like this fragrance. Also, lasting power is great on me. I keep getting whiffs throughout the day and night. The colour that would describe this fragrance is peach, and I find it to be leaning feminine. Great scent if you want something long-lasting, unique yet pretty and wearable.

A tropical daydream bottled. This fragrance is gorgeous like sipping something fruity and sparkling as the sky turns pink. The standout note? Quandong Desert Peach so rare, so deliciously unique. I think it’s the only fragrance I’ve come across with it! Blended with raspberry, ginger, orange, jasmine, and soft cashmere, it smells like a warm, juicy sunset with a breeze of luxury. Sunset Hour was hyped quite a bit on youtube so I bought a sample set from Goldfield and Banks just so I could try this one out. I loved it so much, I got the 50 mL bottle. This perfume is so sweet, fruity, sophisticated but not too serious, and cool. I wear it a lot when I go out for cocktails or dinner with my husband or friends. I love wearing this when I'm a little dressed up. The performance is pretty good. It lasts on me for about 5-6 hours and I can smell it on myself the entire time.

For anyone who enjoys beachy fragrances, this is a must-have! It perfectly matches my California lifestyle—daily beach walks and plenty of sunshine year-round. It has that magical quality of transporting you to a vacation state of mind, where life feels easy and carefree. The balance between fruity and sweet is just perfect. I even layer it with a vanilla body lotion and the new VS Vanilla Vacation body mist. I wore that combination to the beach today, and it was absolutely on point! 10/10 ✨

Fell in love at first sniff in a department store and immediately got a full bottle. I don’t know what it is about this but I want to bathe in it! I wish so much I’d found it at the start of summer, when we had unusually high heat here in Scotland, as I think it would bloom and radiate on a sticky summer night. It’s fruity and sweet from the tropical fruits, but clean and grounded from the cashmere and sandalwood. Performance isn’t amazing but for this juice I’ll reapply. Gorgeous stuff!

I imagine wearing this while drinking a fizzy, fruity cocktail and wearing a pink sun dress. Expensive Barbie vibes. The ginger and fruit in the opening are effervescent, sparkling and bright. It’s incredibly sweet, and thick- like a nectar style juice. The jasmine is barely there. In the base the benzoin and cashmere give the scent a synthetic, fuzzy texture which I enjoy. I don’t get great longevity from this, maybe 4 hours, but I don’t mind refreshing with a travel spray.

makes me think of sunscreen on a beach, cocktails as the sun sets, and pulling chairs around a bonfire. very peachy and silky, a hint coconutty. I LOVE?? this is so sparkly and juicy, and young and FUN, but theres a warm creaminess and woodiness that rounds it out and keeps it feeling soft and sensual. a few hours later and i get the most delicious warm, fruity, vanilla skin scent. i probably look insane constantly sniffing my wrists. i needed to own this like yesterday.

I generally don't care for sweet fragrances, but this is the exception. I originally purchased a sample - not knowing if I would like it because the reviews said it was really sweet. Yes, this does have some sweetness, but it is well balanced with the woods and spices. At first spray the fruit really shine, but then it mellows down to the wonderful, spicy, warm woods with the coconut and peach in the background. I just love this fragrance! A real winner for me.

Sunset Hour is the perfect summer scent. Juicy tropical fruits and sparkling peach open the fragrance with brightness, and the dry down becomes a creamy, musky sandalwood that feels soft and luxurious. It’s tropical without ever smelling sticky sweet, cheap or synthetic. No risk of smelling like sunscreen. Absolutely stunning. The longevity is my only complaint, it last about 3 hours on my skin but on clothes you get 6 hours.

Goodness gracious, this scent is divine. It's a perfectly blended, soft, silky cashmere-y sweet heaven, I can't stop smelling my wrist for two hours already. It reminds me of the feeling of bourbon vanilla, even though it has no vanilla among the notes! Amazing stuff. For me, it's definitely not a fresh summer scent, cold weather suits it more. Feminine, soft, cozy, lovely.

I haven’t been able to get this fragrance off my mind for two years and I finally bit the bullet. In a previous review I commented that this reminds me of Burberry Her, but if Her is a cold glass of strawberry Nesquick, this is a tall, refreshing glass of sweet peach and sun-ripened raspberry tea. It literally smells like sunlight to me. A forever love ❤️

sunset hour is a very well sophisticated fragrance but its very warm and inviting and its a good fragrance for intimate vibes it projects well between the first 3-4 hours of wearing it and its longevity last pretty long aswell but it depends on your skin chemistry knowing that all ph levels are different. I'd rate this fragrance a 9/10

First impression: Absolutely beautiful summery scent, reminiscent of the ocean, the beach and fizzy fruity cocktail. There is a hint of sweetness, there is sea salt, there is coconut cream, and it is all very well blended. I need to sample it a few more times to understand how it interacts with me skin, its longevity and sillage.

this is a wonderful perfume, although it leans a tad feminine a man could defo pull it off. it is a sweetish fruity smell that feels to me as it is perfectly blended. ive only worn one so cant say alot about longevity, but on my skin this projects quite well. Goldfield & Banks have some great perfumers behind the fragrances

This is the first G&B fragrance I’ve found full bottle worthy. It’s so fruity and sunny. Very mai tai cocktail drink. Perfect summer scent and really you could wear it all year round. From the opening to dry down it’s highly enjoyable! Work safe but not blind buy safe. Nothing is ever blind buy safe anymore...

Sweet gourmand smell - to me it smells like vanilla and almond... akin to marzipan? It's very pleasant and I like it, but it's probably a bit too feminine for me. It's not that unique though... I smelled similar scents worn by the ladies at my workplace. Can be quite overpowering and seems to be long lasting.

This scent is delightful and reminiscent of Baccarat, but more tolerable. The longevity and sillage are decent, and it leans quite unisex. I found this fragrance to be light, sweet, juicy, and silky. It truly embodies the essence of a sunset. I can still see myself reaching for this when I am being casual.

I love this scent so muchhh. Straight raspberry and peach scent perfect for the beach and overall a great summer scent. A bit basic imo as all the other g&b are but that doesn't make them bad they are just a easy to wear mass appealing brand that has such nice scents. Sunset hour is tha best tho to me.

Absolutely gorgeous creamy woody and fresh fruity fragrance. Makes it perfect for all year any time. Only problem is it doesn’t last that long for me. Will update if longevity improves after a few weeks of maceration. But if you can respray, this is incredibly captivating.

Unironically perfect for golden hour! To me, the faint spectre of champagne and an alcohol-like scent glimmers in the background of an otherwise light and near-fruity bouquet. Not as fruity as I would have liked, but still an amazing scent! I love this

I like quite a few fragrances form this house but I think this one might be my favourite. It’s for the right blend of fruity woodiness that isn’t cloying or loud. It’s an any occasion fragrance that isn’t too in your face and perfect for summer

I really love this! It's a perfect summer night perfume in my opinion. It's girly, sexy, and crowd pleasing. On top of that, the longevity is great, sticks onto clothes forever. On top of that it's very reasonably priced. Big fan!

It's simply wonderful. It's fruity without being overly sweet. It's warm but not pungent. Upon spraying I'm taken to some warm tropical beach, with an ice cold drink in my hand. I love it. Will likely wear it all summer long!

I want this perfume so bad. I tested it at the mall and I fell in love. I want to be that girl so bad but my wallet doesn’t agree. The paper they put it on still smells like it I smell it every day. It lasted a long time.

Creamy and youthful but also fresh enough, I'm making it my signature this summer! Many of my favourite notes in one bottle and they work so well together. Smells a little synthetic but I don't mind it.

It opens with a sparkling burst of peppery mandarin, then gradually melts into a smooth, creamy ginger and soft woods base. For a fresh fragrance, the 4–6 hours of longevity is truly impressive.

This is the first perfume that I have received actual compliments on. I love this perfume and I sprayed it on 6 hours ago and it still is projecting. I would easily make this my signature scent.

I looked at the notes and laughed; this smells like piña colada and caramel coffee on me. I didn’t quite get the hype for the first couple tries, but third time was the charm. It’s a love.

Really nice peach note, unfortunately the raspberry pushes it onto the feminine side. Overall really nice scent though, you could still rock this if you just had the confidence. 4/5 scent
