Musk Oil No. 6

Have I finally found my perfect musk? Musk No. 6 is what I was hoping Clair de Musc would be. I have Clair de Musc, Jovan Musk, Body Fantasies White Musk, and the Body Shop White Musk. This is the best of them all. Musk No. 6 is perfectly clean, soft, warm, and fuzzy. There is no sharp body-odor note, thankfully. The scent is round, bubbly, and almost sweet. It's a simple, squeaky-clean, loveable musk. If you're looking for something complex, this isn't it. But if you struggle with that sharp "urine" odor that can waft from some musk perfumes, try this one. Frankly, it's perfect.

This is very close to Kiehls original musk, even if it is less complex. I use it for bed time along with the deospray. It creates a cozy and relaxed feeling. If you add a few drops of Dana's Tabu to this one, you practically have Kiehls original musk. The body lotion is really good. A bit powdery and the scent lingers quite long for a lotion.

Musk No.6 also comes in a deospray which I used interchangeably with Gosh Nothing deospray when I was a tweenager and maybe into a couple of my teenage years. There''s also a fragrance in the series but I haven't owned that one yet and I don't know if I want to. I didn't have a sense of season or occassion at that age. I might test the fragrance again soon, Fall and Winter and then come back and say when I think it's best. I've considered buying it as a layering fragrance. our Coop supermarkets (Brugsen chain) always has the deospray but I can't use that today because deo sprays break me out horribly. They say it's for men and women and that's good but I've only ever known women who used Musk No.6. I've never been criticized for it, so it must've been alright on me back then, but my skin chemistry and personal tastes might've changed.

It’s starts out as a super soapy (as in shampoo or body wash) and fruitier version of Jovan Musk oil for women..... lot’s of bergamot. It dries down to smell like a mixture of jovan musk and Alyssa Ashley white musk! It’s pretty but I’ve got both of those so this little bottle of musk oil no.6 feels a little bit redundant. It’s nice though, particularly after it dries down and the ylang finally arrives to give it just a tiny hint of banana candy sweetness. The ylang might be enough to make me keep this one actually - let’s see how it smells in cold weather! Ps, I just tested Chanel No.5 L’eau and the dry down smells very similar to Musk Oil no 6!

Musk oil no.6 is a recent discovery for me. It's nothing new but it's a great middle of the road musk for musk lovers who can't get enough of the stuff. There is a dreaded burst of "animalic" note in the opening but it vanishes quickly. What is left is a cozy, soft, fresh musk. There is a proper portion of aldehydes that doesn't overwhelm. A good musk fragrance reminds me of melted snow. And no.6 smells just like that. White, crisp coolness turned into a liquid. Cottony and cozy. Familiar and nostalgic. Like a snowy winter day forever captured in a bottle. I'm grateful this scent comes in a 30 ml spray bottle which is just enough.
