L’Ile au Thé Eau sans Alcool

A beautiful scent put away during the Fall and Winter, but in Las Vegas Spring and Summer this blooms.

This is perfume is pure and tender green tea bliss. Soft and refreshing and everything you would hope for in a green tea scent. My favourite thing is to mist it all over after stepping out of the shower - especially before bed. Because it doesn't have any alcohol, I don't hesitate to spray it directly on to my skin. The scent doesn't cary anywhere near as long as I would like but it suffices in the way I wear it most. The light musky finish is always a sweet surprise yet the mandarin blossom and green tea are what stand out most to me. Think of this as a lighter and fresher version of Bvlgari Eau Parfumee au the vert. Laying these scents affords the longevity one would hope for and the strength to wear it out as the scent of the day.

L'Ile au Thé is still one of my favorite Goutal fragrances, so when the alcohol free version was released, I immediately bought it as a sleep scent. I have almost finished an entire bottle already, so I wanted to write something down before it disappears completely. The alcohol free version uses an emulsified water and oil formula, so it can be sprayed not only on the body but also on the hair. The scent is naturally a little different from the original. Without alcohol rapidly pushing the fragrance outward, the opening feels much softer. It lacks the clear citrus diffusion of the regular version. Instead, the overall impression is more watery and refreshing. The tea note feels like a very gentle green tea accord. The structure is highly linear. Osmanthus is not especially prominent either. What remains is essentially green tea mixed with a clean skin sensation. Since I mostly wear it before sleeping, I have never paid much attention to longevity or projection. By the time I wake up, there is usually very little scent left. As a bedtime fragrance, it works very well. But anyone expecting it to behave like the normal alcohol based version will probably end up disappointed.
