Neroli

NEROLI by Annick Goutal is perfect in portraying the fresh and tender orange blossoms. It is beautiful in its natural simplicity. I truly admire how Annick Goutal is able to capture the beauty of nature as is and to prove that the scent does not need to be overly complex or elaborate to be gorgeous. The scent opens with very aromatic, green, fresh and slightly bitter notes of neroli. I agree with tigerlillian that there are traces of bergamot in the beginning. The scent becomes tender, softer and slightly sweet in the heart notes just like the gentle orange blossoms. It is very romantic and sensual at this stage. NEROLI transforms into woody green, refreshing, slightly soapy and clean scent in the base notes and stays in this form for hours. The scent is lovely for spring and summer. The sillage and longevity are decent. I definitely recommend this perfume as my favorite neroli/orange blossom scent. (Overall score – 9.5/10) (This review is for Eau de Toilette)

Hard to belive that this is unisex as the smell is so sweet and feminine. My bf even disagreed to put this on his wrist, usually he tries every unisex I try. The scent is very fresh and very greend and I somehow like it very much. It is very, very refreshing and as I said - very feminine, but not in a "sexy" or "seductive" way. I can imagine this on a romantic girl dressed in white in summertime. No femme fatale here. And this could be a griet "first perfume" for teenage girls. So mother - better get this one than some celebrity stuff, because this will provide some quality as well. I really like it. It's so gentle and cute that it's hard to resist. On my buy list this goes with no doubts.

This is my newest obsession and think a full bottle is calling my name... I got at sample through a swap with the lovely *Sophi* a few months ago, but hadn't gotten around to trying it until a couple of days ago. And now I am smitten. It has a slightly dry, woody opening which soon turns into a soft, transparent, sparkly floral. For some reason it reminds of the drydown of Chanel no 19, after the leather and the "harsh" stuff in the opening has gone, but I don't think they share notes (or do they?). It is very different to Le Labo Neroli 36 which much more waxy and "fat". I like both, but this is definitely a lot more airy than Le Labo. Must find a bottle somewhere...must....

This is true neroli. Its one of my favorite scents and I have several versions of it but some are blended with too many other notes or have such a heavy vanilla base that I don't get that wonderful bittersweet smell. When my 15ml bottle gets low I will definitely get a FB! UPDATE: Just bought a 6.8 oz. bottle on ebay for an excellent price and can now spray with reckless abandon lol! However, I find that Woods of Windsor's Bergamot Neroli smells almost exactly like it. The AG has a bit more of that bitter 'greeness' which is what I love so much in neroli - but Woods of Windsor has a definite edge where price is concerned!

This is a perfect neroli scent with a little cypress giving it an herbal, green feel... with a little sweetness. I’m thinking the notes are not complete and I detect vanilla. Overall this is beautiful, fresh, natural and has good performance. I’m into my first wearing at 2 hours and it has not turned to a skin scent. Too bad Neroli was only a limited edition release as it is now difficult to find. Oh well, I’ll still be looking for a deal. I would love to add this one to my collection. It’s fabulous.

It is this perfume that made me fall in love with neroli and orange blossoms. It transports you to a different time.. somewhere in the long-forgotten past. It is innocent, intriguing, beguiling, and yet weirdly enough there is something ancient and timeless about this scent. I feel mysterious and sensual wearing this perfume. Great for someone who likes pure, clean, uncomplicated scents - a bit like those who prefer single malt whiskey. Strangely evocative. Time travel in a bottle.

Exquisite perfume. I don't think it could be worn by a man because it's too sweet, airy and smooth simultaneusly. It's a delightful morning fragrance, i feel almost pride when i'm wearing this and i can tell that women and men like it. It refreshes you and the room you're in. Seems very simple as a smell, but it's elegant and joyful at the same time. Lasting power is surprisingly long.Give it a try. 10.08

I wanted a nice, splashy, cologne-like neroli fragrance for summer. I tried a few Atelier Colognes but they were like fragrance white noise. Annick Goutal's Neroli has not only met, but exceeded my expectations. It's slightly sharp and bitter but with a pleasantly powdery undertone and a very strong cypress note. I love cypress, and it's rare to find it so dominant.

I'm in love...vivacious green dream...it's an incredibly amazing perfume! Charming infusion of orange blossom with grass and neroli.Slightly bitter taste with smooth sweetness...airy and delicate...I cannot find words to describe this scent.. I feel:I'm out of this world and I just want to fly with the wind.:) Touch of the Nature, a sigh of a fairy..

My favorite Neroli. Light, slightly bitter beginning warms into sweet and sensual full bloom. I really appreciate Annick Goutal's rendition of single note florals. This Neroli captures the fresh blossom better than any other Neroli scents I have tried.

Annick Goutal's Neroli is an interplay between green and floral. It hovers delicately on the edge between our perceived ideas of what is feminine and masculine. The first spray: it is a woman's white-floral perfume. Moments later: it is a gently green men's fougere. My first thoughts after applying Neroli? 1) Amazing! 2) It's too feminine, I could never wear this!? 3) Well, maybe I can... I gave it a try recently. The trick with Neroli is actually the opposite of what you might think. Because it's delicate, you actually need to put on quite a bit to pull this off as a men's fragrance. Too light, and just the flowery petals appear on the skin. With a good 5-6 spritzes, the perfume exudes its stronger notes, and all the greens come out in full force along with the beautiful flowers. Neroli is really gorgeous stuff, there's no denying it. It's delicate enough that a woman could wear this every day. For a man, because it is floral, it's more suited to interesting occasions when you want to get noticed. Most of all, it's a perfume that you like smelling on yourself. I couldn't stop sniffing my wrists and arms when I had this on. I've always had a particular love of fruit tree blossoms and their delicate scent, and this captures it with amazing precision and art.

Every good perfumista needs a fine neroli perfume, and Annick Goutal NEROLI certainly is one! Dry and floral with the darkness that only neroli provides. This is a solifore, as far as I can tell, and comparing it to Aqua Allegoria FLORA NEROLIA, I would say that the latter has more resins or musk--in a word: base--since it has far better longevity and more of a feminine, perfumey quality to my nose. That said, AG NEROLI is supposed to be unisex, and I do believe that it is, although the sillage might be too big for some gents. My impression is that Annick Goutal is better at simpler fragrances such as this rather than complicated, confusing concoctions such as CHARLOTTE. Anyway, NEROLI I definitely recommend, and I am very happy to have a nice-sized decant of this simple yet beautiful fragrance thanks to celina (who, in case you didn't know, has EXCELLENT taste!).

This is a crisp green herbal scent that opens with a bright orange blossom note that fades slowly to a beautiful, authentic neroli. It is grounded by the cedar, giving it a warm, woody base that lasts for several hours. The floral notes give way to an earthy green, mossy scent which fades to a soapy skin scent by the end of the day. This scent would make a good unisex fragrance, natural and fresh with earthy richness. Longevity is moderate, detectable on my skin after 6 hours, and sillage fades fast. I was hoping that neroli would take centre stage here, but it only appears fleetingly, albeit beautifully. Neroli can typically be weighed down by a sweet base such as vanilla, but this fresh green creation is more to my taste, a refreshing riff on a white floral. Decent green herbal, but far from a definitive neroli fragrance. 3/5.

Opens up with a subtle orange blossom note. Shortly after, sharp bitter citrus rind and evergreens come out. As this settles, it turns a tad too soapy. It ends up smelling like an aromatic version of those small, round, powdery, vintage European soaps. A bit later, the powdery soapiness mellows out, and you get pleasant clean whiffs of bitter citrus peel. For those who don't know what neroli in fragrances smells like, it's basically like smelling the peel of a cross between a lemon and a grapefruit. This reminds me a bit of Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. It has the same aromatic, citrusy sharpness. Smell: 7 out of 10 Strength: 7 out of 10 Unisex, learning feminine For reference, I'm female.

Interesting neroli and cypress combo. The cypress (and maybe cedar) note makes it more unisex and sets an overall woody tone to this fragrance. Cypress really amplifies that waxy "gritty" quality neroli scent which may be to some people's likings and not others. The base turns surprisingly soapier than what I would expect from a fresh start. Longevity is between 4 to 6 hours and sillage disappears quite a bit as time goes on. This is one of the neroli fragrances I tried as I look for a neroli holy grail, and alas this was not. The search continues.

AG's Neroli, well, that's pretty much it. It is a 3-D, bright, luscious Neroli/Orange Flower perfume. There seems to be no other notes, it has no changes other than that of intensity. It's very well done for what it is, natural and realistic, but there's nothing more to say than that. If you feel like Neroli than you can do much worse than Annick Goutal's. As per AG the silage is minimal and lasting power is 3-4 hours, tops. (As other reviewers have noted I do not detect the woody/green notes at all, which is very disappointing...)

A french soap-shop smelling perfume. Don't find it very feminine and sweet.. More refreshing and slightly green at the beginning, though it turns softer later on. Couldn't imagine a man wearing this, but anything is possible. I think it's a very niche-ish perfume though, not meant for everyone. Guess neither for me, it turns a bit too bathroomy to me. But definitely try if you're searching something refined and refreshing.

Aromatic to start, like fresh neroli oil, almost as though there was a nuance of bergamot. Perhaps the 'green' is attributed to the orange pips that the description above provides. Neroli starts to soften and the gentle petals start to blossom. This does indeed play like a soliflore with a warm, extensive vibration. A wonderfully clean, uplifting and sensual tribute to this pretty little powerhouse flower.

This is my favorite neroli/orange blossom scent. Very nice balance of citrus/green notes and florals. The opening is citrus and somewhat sharp. Quickly a soft floral undertone emerges for a wonderful combination of delicate florals and zesty green notes. Would be perfect for summer, but I wouldn't necessarily limit it to that season. Lasting power is also good. A must for neroli and orange blossom lovers.

Neroli, this fragrance, in one word, pure enough, just like something directly from the nature. Wearing it, close your eyes, imagine yourself walking slowly in a green garden, yes, this is how I enjoy Neroli. Even in office... whenever I feel anxious about work, it helps me soothe the pressure a bit. I find mental effect in this scent.
