Petite Cherie

A beautiful concoction of peaches and pears, a creamy musk and a hint of grass cuttings and roses -- it's the scent for those who don't want to be blatantly wearing 'perfume'. This was the scent I wore to uni and any other casual settings because it smells more like shampoo or body wash than a woman's fragrance, and I was easing into the habit of wearing perfume regularly. It was the scent I wore when I wanted to be perceived as 'just had a shower' with the subtle fragrance of "shampoo" trailing behind. No one wants a stinking ape in class, and I admit that sometimes I pass the morning shower for Petite Cherie just to arrive for a 9am lecture on time. Petite Cherie might be a little bit of a flirt and oozes girly innocence but this is definitely not a 'Lolita' kind of scent (speaking of the literary reference, it'd be perfect for those who love the Japanese street fashion though). There's something very sophisticated about this fragrance that keeps it from going into cheap Bath and Body Works territory, in my opinion, and I believe that it is the greenness of the pears. This fragrance has that 'Je ne sais quoi' property that makes it very French, and I recommend this fragrance for women of all ages, particularly to those who are children at heart. It is also notorious for going off quickly, so I highly recommend opting for the 50mL rather than the 100mL, and I recommend the EDT for those who love pear notes most because it shows up best in the EDT.

This is the most beautiful fleeting fragrance that I will happily top up over and over again. It’s an upside down pyramid, heavy on the top notes and light on the base notes. This is what makes this fragrance and a lot of other Goutal fragrances, light, airy, and angelic. I think what makes PC interesting is the top grass note. It’s a punchy green note that cuts through the sweetness of the pear and peach. Most of the middle notes is hedione; the rose and lilac are there, like a whisper behind the top notes. The vanilla and musk just add another dimension to the fruits and florals. They do not stand out or linger on. I would describe this as a green fruity floral, but a transparent and innocent version, with a playful twist of grass. I absolutely adore it and will continue to wear it, even if it means that I need to overspray over and over again. EDIT : this perfume was made to be worn in the summer heat. The fruity notes really bloom and come to life in hot weather. Favourite fresh summer scent!

I first fell in love with Petite Chérie after smelling it on my mom. It was so captivating that I'd sneak a few sprays every morning before going to school. I still have that same bottle today, and it's over a decade old, which speaks volumes about my attachment to this fragrance. I love the youthful and feminine character of this scent. To me, it stands apart from common teenage fragrances—it's a little classy, sweet, powdery, and fruity. My favorite aspect is the dominant, sweet, ripe, and juicy pear and peach combination. It has a beautiful sweetness that is never headache-inducing to me. I also catch the powdery rose, which lends a clean, well-put-together quality to the scent. It's a truly lovely combination. However you'd need reapplication due to its weak longevity. I can understand why some people might say it has a "grandma" scent; it does carry a certain vintage, nostalgic feel. However, I believe its timeless quality makes it truly wonderful for all ages. I recently purchased a refill.

I love this fragrance because of how different it feels to anything else I've owned. It's so fresh and to me something about it is transcendent. I was recommended this fragrance by my sister who had sampled it and said that it reminded her of me. I think she was referring to times when we'd bathed together as small children and something in it put her in mind of our baby shampoo. Wearing this at times is like smelling the hair of a freshly bathed toddler which might feel strange to some people but it makes me feel a warmth and closeness and a feeling of love which has made the fragrance become more than something that just smells nice. Petite Cherie will not evoke the same reaction in everyone by any means but the combination of notes should give it a broad appeal, I just wish it lasted a bit longer.

This is everything I wish JHAG Pear Inc was. I don’t really get musk or vanilla, just fresh fruity florals (kind of a shampoo scent if you’re thinking of those green Garnier bottles). It’s giving a less sweet version of fizzy IKEA sparkling pear juice with elderflower syrup. The pear is green and tart but definitely a bit synthetic, not in a bad way. I might be insane but the tartness of the pear in the opening is reminiscent of those tiny green guava candies from Asian markets (you know what I’m talking about). VERY grassy, and with the florals it’s kind of like standing under a pear tree and gardenia bush on a freshly mowed lawn. Definitely a bit of an intimate projection, but on hot days this is my “cool down” frag.

Petite Cherie evokes the sweetest memories of childhood, the playfulness, the innocence, the imagination, the hope, the joy and bliss. You go through life and you read books, listen to music, smell fragrances, watch movies- and you start collecting the ones that belong to you. The ones you really resonate with, that speak to your soul. They leave a lasting impression on you, and you carry them with you for the rest of your life. That’s what this fragrance is to me. Although this fragrance was made over 25 years ago, it smells as modern and fresh as ever. This is a timeless, classic, sweet fragrance. One that I pray stays around for at least the rest of the time I have on this earth.

Petite Cherie is such a sweet, juicy scent. I have had a rollerball for almost 5 years and it has held up well. I had a consultation with a perfume expert and Petite Cherie was recommended to me. It works really well with my body chemistry, especially the pear note. It really comes through as refreshing and juicy. I can’t say much about the sillage, since the rollerball makes for a more targeted and limited application. However, every time I hug someone up to 4 hours after applying they always ask me what I’m wearing and compliment the scent. I would recommend for people looking for younger, yet sophisticated and classy scents.

I love Petite Cherie. It is totally unique and manages to be a tender, pastel coloured fruity musk with sweetness that has nothing gaudy about it. It is delicate without being weak. Everything is just right - this is the sunny sweet childhood day when it was your birthday and the strawberry cream layer cake was brought out and everyone was happy and there was nothing, absolutely nothing wrong in the world. Opens with a distinct pear/banana note that quiets down quite quickly leaving a sweet but fresh fruit-floral-white musk blend lingering on. Intimate to moderate projection with moderate staying power but ah so lovely.

I'm well aware that this scent isn't too popular here; people tend to think it's boring or reductive or "soapy" or "artificial" or "nothing special." Doesn't matter to me, I will always love it. Fresh and sparkly-soft grass and pear and a (very light) base of rosey musk. The words "springtime in a bottle" get thrown around here a lot and I expect they mean different things to different people. This is my springtime, right here. I loved this one from first sniff, it always makes me feel fresh and pretty and put together. Wearing this is like meeting up with an old friend. I hope to always have this in my collection.

So clean and fresh. It smells like clean clothes hanging on a clothesline next to lilac and pears trees on a bright Summer day morning when the grass is still full of dew. The freshest perfume I have ever smell. Only because of that reason I like it. A great pick me up when you need to feel cleaner and wants to wear something airy. I really don't get the "Petite Chérie" association. That perfume is almost unisex to me and not something I find juvenile or mostly fitted for younger girls. The longevity is awesome on me (I own a vintage EDT bottle) and I can smell it in my hairs for hours.

This was my mom’s signature scent throughout my childhood. I remember smelling it on her clothes and pillows; it’s an incredibly nostalgic scent. Even without the memory association, there is something that is inherently nostalgic and familiar about this fragrance. Simple and subtle yet so fresh and pretty. The peach/pear opening lingers well after a few hours, enveloped in a beautiful white floral and musky vanilla base that isn’t overwhelming. The floral and sweet fruity accords really shine through. Youthful but classy and sophisticated. No wonder my mom wore it for all those years.

I love this..petite cherie is the most natural smell kind of perfume that I ever have! I have this & Le Mimosa and so far annick goutal never fail me..this petite cherie smell so watery at first, just like a rain in a dawn and come the smell of grass after that which is the loveliest part for me because it feels so fresh like you are walking in a morning after the rain..it give a fresh dewy morning feeling, so lovely!the grass & peach is dominant for me & then it goes down to vanilla & a bit musky..the dry down is a bit normal to me but any how, petite cherie is still my first love..

This perfume is so sweet and lovely, very innocent and feminine in my mind. It does smell quite aquatic, I suppose from the "refreshing cut grass." Many perfumes have pear as a note, but this is one of the only ones where I really distinguish pear very well. The grass smells very nice and realistic, and the rose is definitely there smelling heavenly. Peach and vanilla are just supporting for me, they aren't prominent like the others. I absolutely adore the scent, only wishing it could be a bit more powerful, but then perhaps it would lose its sweet and innocent-seeming quality.

This opens with realistic canned pears and a touch of maybe cumin, as there is a sudden hit of light body odor. The sweatiness fades after a few minutes to an airy, fresh, sparkling pear, which is nice if you like transparent fruity scents, and mostly stays that way for an hour or two...however, there were moments where it seemed like the tin can these pears came out of wanted its moment in the spotlight too, as I noticed a distinct metallic touch that I dislike. On the upside, it is pleasantly evocative of childhood, as intended, and the grassy note is nice.

One of my favorite pears to date. Having tried a few other Annick Goutal's I steeled myself for a bitter green opening, but was so pleasantly surprised when all I got was a big, fresh, juicy pear! There is a little green in there, a little rose, but the pear... wow, it is delectable. It made me think almost immediately of pear jelly bellys (my favorite!) but better. Fresher, greener, juicier, the level of sweetness is natural and not overdone. This will be a favorite when I want to smell great without trying too hard. Husband's comment was "tender".

I love the pear in this perfume. The scent is sweet, but not cloying in my opinion - it actually has a certain acidity that brings a bit more depth to the perfume. I wish the longevity would be better, but I also understand that these type of airy and fresh scents can be more difficult to get to last a full day. Petite Cherie is fairly simple and very approachable, so as an olfactory experience it may not be that special. However, it is an easy pick for warm spring days and summer, and it is definitely one of my go-to perfumes during these seasons.

Petite Chérie by Goutal is hands down my favorite from the house so far. It brings back fond memories of visiting upscale hair salons with my mom. The scent of freshly styled hair—fruity, sweet, yet fresh and effortlessly happy—that’s exactly what Petite Chérie smells like to me. A fragrance smelling like a high-end shampoo may not be everyone's cup of tea, and quite honestly not my cup of tea either in most cases, but Petite Chérie is so well done. My tip is to spray more sparingly than usual.

I love pear scents, so I purchased several samples of this to try. It is absolutely the best pear fragrance I've ever smelled. It's pear with some elegance to it, all the way to the end. I do wish it had better longevity, but I've purchased the body milk as well so I can layer it. Will most definitely be ordering a full size bottle of this. If you like pear with a floral background try this! UPDATE: Just received full size bottle with matching body milk - FANTASTIC!

Testing my sample; this is freshly mowed grass watered with peachy pear water, surrounded by a hedge of powdery roses and lilacs. Leans sweet and gets muskier as it mingles with body heat. Very nostalgic, strikes the perfect balance between uplifting and relaxing. Perfect for spring and summer, there's no other season to wear this. Slightly below arms' length projection, but definitely lasts. You'd have to reapply if you want full day. Full bottle worthy.

I have misjudged Petit Cherie as I had a sample that smelled like generic light fruit shampoo. I still felt the instinct to buy a full bottle regardless, now I smell it properly. This is innocent childhood in a bottle, clean hair, freshly washed clothes, ripe fruit specifically peaches and pear, soft skin, being fussed over in a gentle way. There is something tender and innocent that is in a lot of Goutal fragrances. It is classy, elegant, and feminine.

This does something (physically) to my nose, like it’s calming the receptors and then brings the signal of comfort to my brain. I’ve never had a perfume that did this to me before. It’s like a whiff of pent sweetness from pear and peach, with its tanginess and a little something green in the background. The silage is not crazy, something proper for this type of scent. It’s adorable, something that lift up your mood by bringing comfort.

Love this, and I am not a fruity floral fan. Loved it when it came out but didn't buy it. Now, I have about 10 ml in a 100 ml bottle and will ration that out. It smells like: a musky pear with lots of green and a hint of bitter oddness with some underlying florals including a dry lilac; opens ripe and sweet but quickly gets drier and more herbal as the pear is overcome by the other elements

This reminds me of a more full-bodied Leila Lou which totally makes sense -- it's like Leila Lou plus lilac and vanilla. You know how there was always a girl in your class growing up whose shampoo always smelled bright and her clothes always well-laundered. She prob has a kind disposition. this is that scent -- shampoo in a non-annoying way, just pleasant and cheerful, easy and breezy.

What is this? That was my first thought. Gras, that green stuff in the garden and walk on! What a weird perfume! But the bottle (butterfly globe bottle) is nice. But then it grew on me and believe it or not, I've almost finished it. But mainly I use it for the bedroom to make it smell nice and clean :-) As soon as you breath it in, it smells like spring time; lovely and comforting.

As a young girl, there were these wild rose bushes that grew alongside roads and walkways in my Grandmother's hometown on the Baltic Sea. This is that delicious scent of ripe fruit, wild roses, grass, and sea air. I cried when I smelled this. It reminds me of my amazing grandmother and her home. Smelling it, I am filled with happy memories. Thank you Annick Goutal for making this.

A wonderful, fresh, shower clean, and happy fragrance. Juicy clean pear, musk, and that's it. I don't smell any of the flowers mentioned. I purchased the Eau de parfum and the longevity is a little better than with the Eau de toilette. The only disappointment is the ashy notes that develop after an hour. Instead of musk, I really smell clay or ash.

Genuinely one of the most delicious scents in the world-- lasts a long time and is so beautiful I could cry. She's one of the most expensive perfumes I have, but I think she's worth it. A vibe that is similar in it's delicate and sweet notes but maybe a little more grown up and not fruity is Dark Amber & Ginger Lily cologne by Jo Malone.

Sweet, delicate and innocent...this smells of blushing modesty and soft laughter. That scene of your favorite Kdrama where the high IQ rookie lawyer with anxieties falls into the chest of the handsome junior from the firm that all of the ladies desire but he wants nothing to do with them. Yep. Shandurai from Besieged wears this.

Very feminine and ethereal scent. It smells like running and in wet clean laundry while wearing a floaty beige-y linen dress. You can obviously smell pear and peach followed by a creamy sensation on the skin (maybe vanilla?), totally recommended in spring and summer. Makes you feel soooo light and fresh, but in a romantic way!

very wearable and perfect for spring/summer. on my skin it starts off with a burst of green scents and pear, followed by a milky peach scent with hints of roses (can't detect vanilla at all). my only complaint is the poor longevity. i might not buy it again, but it's a fresh, lovely perfume.

This is the most perfect pear shampoo scent! It opens like a pear jelly belly, and then you get fresh hints of grass in the background. Then it dries down into a light fruity shampoo. Not much projection and doesn’t last, but I am an oversprayer and don’t mind reapplying.

Fragrance tends not to have an age limit and it can be reminiscent of certain times in your life. This will always remind me of early summer. The smell of grass, peaches and pears. It does start out strong, but then dries down to the musk and it will need to be rrsprayed.

Beautifull freshie. Just precious. This is for people who like a little fruit in fragnance, but don't like loud overbearing fruits. Summer breeze perfume, very plesant, innofensive and comforting, perfect for anyone who live in tropical climate.

Fresh juicy pear in the forefront with green and peach as supporting notes. The fruit notes do not come off very sweet. If anything it is very aldehydic and airy. It is girly and youthful but as a woman in my 30’s I also enjoy it.

Petite Cherie reminds me of early summer. Sweet pears, crispy apples with a hint of freshly cut grass. I absolutely adore this composition! Unfortunately, due to the character of the fragrance,the smell does not last long.

My skin emphasizes the pear and musk of Petit Cherie, and the effect feels like dry and exquisitely complex white wine. The fruit is not sickly sweet or too young smelling at all. Worth a try!

Annick Goutal Petite Cherie vs. Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit: The opening in both is quite similar: While they share a lot of the notes, Petite Cherie (PC) is a stronger scent than Jardin Sur Le Toit (JST). What I mean by stronger is: although they are both light fragrances, the volume in PC is a little higher, the scent of pear is more pronounced in PC, and PC is also sweeter than JST, which seems to me to be a more sheer scent. The middle is where these fragrances begin to differ: JST's facets begin to morph, now the pear is not so accentuated; the pear is always there and it is the star, but now the fragrance becomes more green, the fresh dewy grass is more prevalent and also the florals begin to settle in. I love the process of transition in a fragrance. I find its nuance very sophisticated. I especially enjoy it in lighter fragrances because the changes are subtle. They are a perfect invitation during weekends to just sit down for 20 minutes and enjoy the journey the scent wants to take me on. In contrast, PC is more linear, the fragrance basically smells the same as it did in the opening, except I perceive it as more synthetic, this is the part where I can see other people's comments about shampoo come into play. There is a powdery aspect here (not powdery as in iris, powdery as in it makes the back of my throat itchy). The dry down: At this point, they are clearly different fragrances. the pear in PC is sweet, tart and playful, while the pear in JST has a grassy green, fresh approach with its sweetness being drawn from the floral accords, which makes it more polished and sophisticated. In my view, PC is the the little sister with freshly washed hair, wearing a summer dress and running around the orchard filling her apron with pears, stumbling and giggling, while JST is the older sister, sitting at the garden's table under the shade of the pear tree, reading a book and sipping pear infused sparkling water. I think temperature plays a big part on making the decision. Even if we are talking about a summer/daytime fragrances, there's a difference if I am in Seattle or London for example, I might be more inclined to wear PC, just because I would crave fragrances that brought a little more sunshine into my day. This is a little sweeter ergo warmer. However, if I am in Sao Paulo or Barcelona, I would prefer the polished coolness of JST. Projection: is low to medium on both. Longevity: PC has slightly more longevity than JST. Both fragrances turn into a skin scent for me within 2 to 3 hours. These are not fragrances one buys for maximum performance at minimum cost. To extend longevity I dab a little body lotion of JST on the areas where I intend to spray. I find this extends the scent to approx. 4 to 5 hours before they turn into a skin scent. Heat also helps maintain the scent alive.

If A Goodnight Kiss is the scent of the mother I imagine, then Petite Chérie is the scent of the mother I remember. My memory of my mother’s smell has never been complete. It always appears in fragments—briefly, when I am close to her, carried lightly by the air. The pear note in Petite Chérie brings me back immediately to the moment she cuts fruit. A freshly peeled pear—watery, slightly green, with a soft sweetness. The smell is brief and light, but so real that it makes my heart soften. Then a hint of grass appears. In everyday life, that note feels like the scent she carries home from outside, like the faint smell of the market lingering on her clothes. She was never surrounded by flowers, but her presence existed in the quiet rhythms of daily life. The rose and lilac are very subtle here. They don’t feel like flowers arranged in a vase. Instead they resemble the traces left on her clothes—shampoo, skincare, the faint scent of a wardrobe. All of it blending together over time, gradually becoming her scent, the smell that stayed with me for so long. When the fragrance settles close to the skin, leaving only white musk and a touch of vanilla, I always think of those moments when I sat beside her. On holidays she would sit next to me knitting, keeping me company under the soft light of a lamp. That quiet warmth, a scent that didn’t need anyone else to notice—it belonged only to me. Petite Chérie is, objectively, a simple perfume. Pear, grass, florals, and soft musk with a hint of vanilla. But together they don’t create an idealized image of a mother. They create the scent of a real mother—someone you truly knew and lived with. Perhaps that is why, at certain moments, it can catch you completely off guard. Mom, I love you❤️

Petite Chérie is a bright, youthful scent that is more sophisticated than its scent profile suggests. A radiant floral-fruity, it is sweet yet sheer and fresh, made with realistic-smelling ingredients and avoids the common pitfalls of sweet aquatic scents. PC opens with bright, juicy pear - the nicest rendering of pear I have ever come across in perfumery. Sweet peach follows, reminiscent of the tinned peaches we had as dessert growing up, and there is a fresh greenness to the background. Lush yet light, it is beautiful, and the fruity notes are realistic despite their sweetness. As it develops, sweet, slightly green-tinged white florals come to the fore, complementing the sweet fruity notes nicely. I get soft, dewy rose in there too. The pear remains throughout, radiant, sweet and uplifting. A soft vanilla note adds sweetness as it dries down, fading to a musky, sweet skin scent with pear remaining until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A fizzy, pretty, light-hearted feminine scent, this is Annick Goutal at its best - no wonder that it was composed by Annick herself. Youthful but high-quality, PC is a truly lovely spring/summer feminine scent for the young (at heart). 4/5.
