Quel Amour!

Quel Amour is my first butterfly bottle of Annick Goutal fragrances. Though it costs me an arm and a leg, it’s worth every penny of it. It starts playfully, the blueberry, red currant and pomegranate are so well-blended and never be too tart or sheer. As the fruits melting, the flower is evoked, the peony smells watery, soapy and slightly powdery, which is the part that I like best. Later time the amber comes, set off all the lovely fruit and flower chords, and binds the perfume to a forever tasty theme. As reflected in its naming, Quel Amour is like a romantic fantasia, which interprets every emotion that a girl has when she is falling in love. I love it very much! I think my signature scent is now finally found. The butterfly bottle is absolutely the cutest one in my collection, I will cherish it a lot. At last, about the EDT and EDP I’ve got something to say: I’d tested an EDT sample before buying the butterfly bottle of EDP. I had the concern that EDP might be too strong for me, but it’s proved that actually it’s very wearable, just a little bit intense. To be clear, by my unprofessional nose, there is no difference in formula between EDT and EDP, just the intensity.

this is a heavenly scent ..this review is coming from someone whos is not head over heals for rosy perfumes.. but for some strange reason i find this rose to be so elegant ..sweet.. royale.. and full ..warm.. velvety.. and superior in quality.. and silage.. its light.. yet warm ..its fruity.. yet not cheap ..its florly yet not headache inducing..its full of wonder.. full of surprises.. its innocent yet sensuale.. its girly yet feminine.. its a total eclipse of the heart.. its a wonderful bright.. crisp ..clean.. yet full full of the garden of eve fruits.. pomegranate.. blueberries.. red currants which make it so unique..on a bed of amber which is very light amber but carries the rose so finely it makes it shine..like a jewel .. it an alive perfume.. its uplifting.. bright.. and smart..its luscious.. and memorable..i have the round ball like pink bottle with the sylophane and the butterfly cap its the pour ut perfume edp 100 ml

Quel Amour opens exquisitely fruity and extremely realistic. Which reminds me of a cocktail of juicy red fruits, in a combination of all the parts of the fruit: the freshness of the juice, the rich volatile smell of the peel and the bitterness of the seeds. But it doesn't last long and quickly melds into a more floral heart. Unfolding new and more sophisticated facets, with soft, fresh and rosy peonies accompanied by the elegant masculinity of geranium. Now it smells like a beautiful bouquet of roses with slight hints of green. But always remaining gently sweetened throughout the life of the perfume, becoming delicately amber and powdery on drying. . Endowed with an ethereal, natural and poetic beauty that characterizes the brand. "PARISINE" is the word that comes to mind about this fragrance. It smells lovely, romantic and elegant.

Yes, Quel Amor, I love it! This was a medium strength scent on me, and it persisted for about three hours. The peony and rose were paramount, but the whole thing reminded me of a beautiful fruity floral tea. Slightly powdery at the drydown, but very natural smelling - a very pleasant, almost green fragrance. I prefer this one to the only other Goutal fragrance I have tried, Petite Cherie. PC was interesting - grassy and natural, but far too light a floral scent for me.

I fell totally in love with this fragrance. When I first smelled it I thought it smelled like grape-sugar. Very fruity and sweet. But in the dry-down the peony becomes very predominant and the scent developes into a lovely, soft fruity-floral unlike anything I'ver ever tried. When I wear this I feel just soo happy and young and fun and feminine and confident! I think it's a very personal scent and perfect for summer! Love it.

About time a wrote a review for this. Straight off i love this, i loved it the moment i first sprayed it all those years ago. To me Its very uplifting and joyous! Its sparkly and fluffy to my nose. Notes that ring true are Rose geranium & peony, slightly fruity but not in the usual way you would expect, it gives a sweet base. To me its a pinky fun sparkly Rose perfume. Worth trying for rose geranium & peony lovers.

Opening of sweet, "jelly" desert floral. I get the peony, geranium, rose. Lovely to the core, very dreamy. This scent simply lingers on my skin even after 4 hours of application, constantly get whiffs of it throughtout the workday. Stunning fragrance to me.

It smells lovely like its name. Even though it is a floral fruity smell, it ain't that generic shit.

To be honest,I bought Quel Amour just because I wanted to have a perfume from this brand which isn't easy to access and common where I live.I adore Annick Qoutal bottles but Quel Amoure wouldn't be my first choice if I could find Songes or some others.I thought it's going to be a girly,pinkish fruity floral,smelling like a bowel of sugared berries and other red fruits,nice and generic. I couldn't be more wrong.I'm so lucky for such a lovely blindbuy and yes,I love it! Quel Amour opens with something like hair spray which lasts about 3 seconds,then it's replaced by an amazing fruity blast,nothing like cheap fruity body sprays.fruits are crisp,tart and sweet and sparkly.I can mostly detect pomegranate and redcurrent but I can also smell berries(at first I thought there must be raspberry and strawberry in it too),cherry and even peach.this fruity blast smells amazing but there's more going on here Although fruits play a very important part in Quel Amour,I believe florals are main actors. As clock tiks flowers sing their magical,harmonious song louder.yes,it's mostly peony but I totally agree with other reviewers mentioning rose too I'm not a rose lover but I like some rosey scents and this is one of them.florals in Quel Amour are fresh,youthful and slightly powdery but the overall scent isn't dry thanks to fruity notes.amber adds a touch of warmth and sweetness and deepens the scent without trying to cover delicate flowers and sparkly fruits I love how Quel Amour smells on me and everybody around seems to like it too.it's uplifting,superfeminine and pretty.it's exactly what I imagined Miss Dior Absolutely blooming is going to be but it was sharper with more intense sweetness(I still love that one too).it also reminds me Lanvin Rose la Jeanne but it's Lanvin's more high quality sister it's not a sillage monster and doesn't last forever but I find it's longevity and projection satisfying.highly recommended if you want a well-put-together,romantic and charming rose-peony floral with enough sparkly,red-berryish naunces

The opening of Quel Amour! resembles sparkling red lemonade, with a symphony of sweet red berries and peach, as well as a nose-tickling spicy note. The groseilles stand out initially, with hints of blueberry. This syrupy, fruit-salad opening is slightly harsh, but dries down to a softer, sweet fruity-floral. However, as mentioned below, it is reminiscent of pot pourri after the initial vibrant opening, which is a drawback. This scent becomes more floral as it dries down, with peony coming to the fore. The sweet fruitiness is still there, mostly provided by the peach, but geranium stem is also detectable. The peony becomes powdery as it dries down. Sillage and longevity are moderate, both stronger and longer-lasting than other Goutal EDTs I've smelled. I'm not usually a fan of very sweet or fruity fragrances, but Quel Amour! is clever and well-crafted, with natural-smelling notes. I find that Annick Goutal fragrances use choice, quality ingredients to great effect, and this one is no different. This is not my favourite Goutal, and it is a little too sweet for my taste, but is a pleasant, young, feminine scent. Much better than mass-produced, commercial fruity-florals that reek of synthetic molecules. Decent fruity fragrance for people who don't like fruity fragrances. 4/5.

As I've read Quel Amour! is inspired by a love story: ''Created by Camille Goutal, this perfume is an emotional reminder of her fiancé's homecoming. Coming back from Australia, from the street up to her apartment, her entire universe was decorated with a carpet of peonies. The moment she saw him, she exclaimed: "Oh, Quel Amour!" This is a joyous interpretation of the peony, a flower in which Camille has seen a sweet yet radiant magic'' in case you were wondering about the name. I really like the fruity aspect of it because the pomegranate and currant smell very natural, vibrant and succulent. It's unsweetened freshly squeezed red fruits juice, not a lollipop. I was surprised not to see rose listed among the notes as well. And fully expected to dislike Quel Amour! since peony is an instant deal breaker for me. But no, here it's kind of hazy, reads like a powdery/dry veil around the fruity rose/geranium; admittedly a sophisticated touch. To me this is a ''happy go lucky'', pink, lighthearted and even frilly scent at heart. Not a big love since bolder/spicier/warmer/enigmatic perfumes intrigue me more but I'm happy to have a bottle of Quel Amour! around.

So I was exploring Annick Goutal fragrances and came by this one as a tester...I gave it a shot. I mainly detect the peach and possibly red currant, though it's a little orange blossom-y too. It might be in the floral family, but it gives off such a sweet, juicy nectar! Pretty delicious, if a little cloying (a little goes a long way for me). I think of hot summer days, going out for brunch or a garden party. Anyway, the funny part of this is, my husband loved it. Like freaked-out-and-attacked-me loved it. I have to share that only because in the 10 years I've known him, he has never once particularly liked any perfume I've ever had (I always go for more of the spicy warm fragrances, while he is strictly a fruit or citrus afficionado). But he couldn't stop smelling it! Within a week he bought me a large decanter of it, and now wants to smell every tester I bring home. It's becoming as much a hobby for him as it is for me. So thanks, Annick...this might not be my favorite fragrance, but the reaction I get from it keeps it front and center on my vanity. ;-)

Invigorating, Unique, and Fascinating! This is a wonderful Floral-full of fruit. I do believe this perfume maintains itś Floral category because it seems as if the perfume presents the flowers of each fruit - if this were possible ! There is also a very green feeling to the blossoms-as if the fresh earthy leaves are inside the falcon too! The pomegranate keeps its tangy and seductive scent, there is "no added sugar" in the just picked peaches; and these two notes combined with cherry-gives a pure and strong natural vibe. The peony is not overbearing, the rose hips keep the scent continuing clean and transparent - with an added idea of herbal tea; and the burbon gardenia also keeps the perfume free and clear of sticky sweet notions ! There may be some white musk in the drydown, however the drydown stays only a whisper of the whole perfume. This is a distinct, sohisticated, well crafted perfume- an excellent gift for a friend, colleage, family member - or perfumista !

Firmly opposed to the three-strike rule, and in flagrant defiance of induction, I decided to take up another Annick Goutal this morning: QUEL AMOUR! [sic] What a relief, I've finally found an AG creation that I actually like. True, it doesn't attain the status of love, and even less exclamative love, but this is a serious like. QUEL AMOUR! opens with a dark compote-like red fruitiness which quickly subsides, essentially becoming a big rose geranium perfume for most of its life. This composition bears resemblance to the EO ROSE GERANIUM CITRUS bath and body products line, as the fruitiness is never very sweet, but complements the rose geranium quite well. The peony is drowned out by the rose geranium, but that's just fine with me, since I greatly prefer the latter to the former note. QUEL AMOUR! has excellent longevity and medium sillage, but I like it so much, I keep sniffin' my wrist! Recommended for floral lovers.

Crisp, sour red fruits and and intense flowers - geranium, peony, rose, carnation. Incredibly strong floral top notes, but the heart is that intriguing sour-sweet bouquet that totally sets this apart from other fragrances and is why I adore Annick Goutal's unique, exquisitely feminine creations. The dry down on this is so pretty...the sour fizz evaporates and you're left with delicate and oh-so-French spring flowers. Magical. Tania Sanchez calls this 'the Erin Brockovitch of fragrances' in The A-Z of Perfumes. I love that book - one of my perfume bibles - but she is SO wrong on this one, despite her comments being a compliment (and me loving that film!). This is no way Brockovitch! This is an intensely sexy yet inherently classy French actress (Isabella Adjani?) out to lunch with friends on an early summer day in Paris.

Annick Goutal Quel Amour! is like a basket of freshly bloomed pink rose and peony, where succulent pomegranate and red currants sparkle among dainty petals. I especially appreciate the natural quality of the fruity notes: the gentle tartness adds vibrancy to the floral bouquet, while artificial sweetness is nowhere to be found in this composition. Towards the drydown, fuzzy peach takes the place of red fruits. Combined with mildly sweetened rose and peony, it feels like a creamy yet tranluscent veil on the skin, very charming and soothing. The sillage is moderate to soft, the longevity is around 8 hours with EDT. I find Quel Amour! a very pretty fruity-floral, lighthearted while retaining a certain sophistication. I'd definitely recommend it as a romantic fruity rose fragrance.

What a gorgeous scent! The more I get accustomed to Annick Goutal's fragrances, the more I love them. I find them so classy and natural! Quel Amour is an unusual fruity floral. It opens up like a nearly edible redfruit salad, with redcurrant and pomegranate standing out and a hint of green freshness. But unlike most fruity florals, the opening notes don't turn into those typical sickly sweet cheap gourmands. Peony and geranium overcome the fruity notes. I also get some rose notes. It's a beautiful and sophiscated fruity-floral. It works wonderfully with my chemistry. I don't find it old-fashioned at all. It's a happy, elegant, natural and romantic floral. Not a safe buy though, it is so special that you'd better try it before buying.

So so lucky to have snagged this at a swap. Looks like it's been used for a few years, so my review is of an aged juice. God, it's so floral and juicy and velvety. Reminds me of soft, fuzzy peach skin -- a peach resting on a bed of pink rose petals. Also reminds me of eating a top notch, ultra nectary Harry & David pear...ugh. My friends who enjoy modern, designer scents describe this as powdery and vintage and strongly dislike it. Others who wanted this bottle at the swap wanted to take photos so they could purchase for elder women. Do with that information what you will. I can't stop smelling my wrist. I'm so smitten. And what an absolutely darling bottle it comes in!!! Will absolutely repurchase when this one is out.

Looking at the note pyramid I should have known that this one's not me at all: it's like the color pink in a bottle, very pretty and soft, girly and playful and romantic - I feel like a completely different person wearing this. That's not a bad thing, though, it's rather nice actually: like living in a fantasy. The opening is a bit too sharp and soapy for my taste, but after a while the sharpness disappears and the soapiness blends in comfortably with the sweet juicy florals - it's girly, but it's very high quality. I smell peonies and something like roses, although they're not mentioned. It's an incredibly charming, very happy kind of scent, it actually makes me smile when I sniff my wrist. An unexpected pleasure!

For some reason this smells like bubble bath to me. It brings back a memory from my childhood, soaking in the tub with both of my sisters with bath foam on my head lol. That's why I think of clean when I smell this. It's not sharp at all on my skin. It's soft with a little green added, reminding me of a forest. Not pine per se, because cedar and pine are notes that often turn weird and very sharp on my skin. It's just an overall feeling of a green forest. There seems to be a lot of berries in the notes, but honestly, I can't smell berries at all. I think the funny memory makes me a bit biased, but this is a happy and clean scent to me.

An extremely girly and fruity perfume. It is very enjoyable for majorities noses and might be a good blind buy for every fruity floral lover out there. As for me - I find this to be a little bit too soapy for me, I can definitely feel rose even if it's not listed in notes, it is here and it is the kind of rose I do not enjoy - reminds me a tiny bit of Bulgarian rose. What makes this perfume interesting is the sourness and coldness of this perfume, it is actually strange how cold a fragrance can feel, therefore I must say this is more suitable for warm weather as I find this to be refreshing. Not for me, but worth a try.

Quel Amour! is an interesting experience. The cherry and peach are quite prominent however they present in a powdery manner not unlike compressed sherbet lollipops that crumble and fizz in your mouth. In fact, that is exactly what this reminds me of. I quite enjoy the subsequent rose-geranium combination. It has a residual sherbert/piquant quality to it that elevates it above the norm and it also introduces a greener element to it to add to the realism. As usual Annick Goutal does a nice rose and I appreciate the originality that has come into play here. The EDP is quite strong so apply with a light hand.

I bought this blind a few years ago, I think it was on the recommendation of the blog the nonblonde. After wearing only a few times I think that if this had no peony in it, it would be more "me." I love all the other notes, but for some reason peony is just not my style. And it just sticks out like a sore thumb. All the other notes, the fruits, are juicy and sweet (but not too sweet). And there is that sort of "hairspray" note that blasts you at the beginning that you have to be careful of, it could give you a headache if you're not careful. Overall, this is a good scent.

I could have sworn this contained bulgarian rose! I have been looking for a nice rose scent for quite a while, and this here is a beautiful, velvety, live rose! Do not be fooled by the fruity top notes- it still is a floral. The cherry in the top notes adds a nice fizzy feeling, making the scent youthful as opposed to those cloying, rosy "grandma" scents. The mint note blends nicely and doesn't really stand out (fortunately). It makes the drydown a bit sharp, so it's not all powder. A very girly, happy, pink fragrance with a bit of class!

Peach, peony and gentle geranium - create a joyous, girly, sweet and floral blend. None of the ingredients are particularly recognizable, they create a seamless new quality. If I would press my nose into my wrist, I would find a far echo of amber, maybe sugared blueberries, maybe I would imagine something else floral, fresh and fragrant. Chic and effortless. Happy and feminine. Gentle and natural. Feminine type of cologne - herbal-floral and refreshing.

This is a pretty fruity rose perfume, although there is no rose in it what so ever. The geranium combined w/ all of the fruit accords gives off a rosy effect. This could be considered a little cloying and that is why it is a no for me in the end, I will wear my sample but not purchase a full bottle. It is a pretty fruity floral w/ good longevity, not to sweet and not to powdery but it is still quite strong, so use w/ caution.

This perfume to me is Paris in a bottle! Especially vintage Paris, Maybe the 1950s. A young lady at that time, going on a date, wearing full skirt, with classic French makeup - red lipstick on a flawless face.

Smells like it has Rose - Vanille notes, olthough they are not listed. Tender, soapy with a little sweetness. Very pleasant scent. Anyhow I'm not a fan of Goutal's fragrances. Will see...

This perfume is beautiful! This fragrance smells like a bouquet of very expensive rosy peonies. Unfortunately this perfume only lasts about two hours on my skin.

This fragrance smells pleasantly. Rather light, but not very for sure. On me it opens mostly peaches and peonies. I like it. It's nice:)

Wow, one of the very few fruity florals that I really like because it's NOT teenage-girly and neon pink!

My first impression of Quel Amour was rather ambivalent, if not actually unfavorable. There was definitely a musty, dusty note upon application, which led me to question whether or not I had purchased an old bottle that was way past it's prime. Since it didn't come with the box, it was hard to determine the batch code - the only clue I had was what I am 99% sure is the batch code (892023) embossed on the bottom of the bottle and after checking 2 sites, it came up as "unsupported". I looked at the bottoms of nearly all my Annick Goutals - some had nothing, some had combos of letters and numbers, along with other variations. Nevertheless, everything else about the bottle appears absolutely genuine, so I am going to assume it's not a knock off. Anyway, the musty, dusty smell occurred every single time I applied it. I don't know what fruit top note can be causing that! So upon second and subsequent applications, I simply sprayed and ignored it for a while. The wait (about 15-20 minutes) is worth it though. For a fragrance with so many fruit notes, this leans more to floral then actual fruity floral. The peony is outstanding IMO. Peony can really misbehave on me, smelling very sharp and metallic, similar to certain rose smells. Here it is tempered and ever so slightly sweetened by the peach and some of the other fruit notes. It remains nicely grounded in an amber that isn't the least bit overpowering. If you seek it out, you will find it, but it could be easily missed if you aren't looking. So I can now say that this is a definite Like. I'll definitely reach for it occasionally, knowing it's not going to clobber anyone over the head, but will still be apparent as a skin scent for many hours - impressive for a Goutal EDT. I'm wearing it to sleep tonight and will perhaps find even more to enjoy from the newest addition to my Goutal collection.

Category: Floral Notes: A very simple two-note scent consisting of elegant peony and geranium. If I didn’t know this had geranium in it, I would’ve guessed rose. Vibe: Rose garden. Fresh-out-the-shower. Maturity. Elegance. Flower shop. Sillage: 5.5/10. Fairly intimate, but not quite a skin scent. Longevity: 5/10. Last for about 4 hours before it becomes nearly indistinguishable. Quite poor longevity in my book. Wear: Day or night, all year round. Although I think it’d make the most sense for spring and summer. Overall rating: 4/10. In some ways I feel like I can’t rate this fairly because while it’s not a bad scent by any means, it’s just a little too mature for me. I think peony is a very mature floral, more suitable for women in their 40’s and above, and geranium or rose is also the kind of note that strikes me as very adult. I’d say this is quite a photorealistic rose scent, actually, which isn’t something I personally associate with younger wearers. I’d probably appreciate this on my mom or someone older, but on me it just feels wrong. The poor performance in terms of longevity also serves to bring down my rating by quite a bit. Out of curiosity--I bought a small 1/2 oz spray of this from Cosmic Perfumes online--( They also had small dab on bottles of Mandragore, Matin D' Orage and Eau De Hadrien) and I was expecting perhaps a lighter, brighter, younger version of Grand Amour--which I love and save for special occasions. Well---I'm disappointed!! Don't smell any glorious rose in this scent--just some weak peony overwhelmed by red fruits--and mostly---well---this perfume smells like the color pink to me. Don't get me wrong--I don't HATE pink or anything---sometimes I'm in a pink mood--so I'll try it in MAY/JUNE--when pink flowers are blooming--maybe it'll grab me then!!

It never ceases to amaze me how different our chemical make up must all be. I read a lot of people finding this powdery, sweet, floral etc. This is not my experience at all. I've had this bottle for a long time, as I try to avoid it. It is intensely sharp & green on my skin - neither the green notes nor the sharpness are fresh in any way they are just a sharp astringently artificial smell. Actual to my nose this perfume truly is awful. And I don't say that lightly - It's a shame because I had read some pleasant reviews about it. I would NEVER recommend anyone to buy this fume blind...clearly this scent needs just the right body chemistry.

I'm at the end of my bottle of Quel Amour! and I've decided I dislike this fragrance. The peony note is most dominant to me and if anything, Quel Amour! has made me realize not to search out any fragrances with a dominant peony note. That being said, it did take me the use of an entire bottle to get to this conclusion so it is definitely not boring or generic. It just doesn't smell good to me nor does it give me a good feeling. This is on my Project Finish This Bottle and once gone, never to be purchased again.

If I could skip to the dry-down of this fragrance, I would love it. There the powdery, sweet amber takes over, and the peony is soft and has become only a whisper. The top notes were tangy, but not at all sweet or fruity. In combination with the geranium and peony (which was the most dominant note on my skin), the fragrance was sharp and floral. It lasted this way for a couple hours and then the lovely base of the fragrance appeared. That was the best part!

As much I love Annick Goutal, all her citrusy and aromatic creations, I do not like Quel Amour! And I’m sorry for this, because I thought I could at least like it. I have to agree with @deCournay here below - many readers find it to be nice fresh fruity floral, but I detect some unpleasant sharp and sour note that disturbs a lot. I’m not sure, but I guess it’s the pomegranate. I suggest to avoid blind buying!

Peony is my favorite flower in nature. When it’s in a bottle, I find that it rarely works. Here it’s combined with screechy fruit notes and vintage powder. It’s ultra feminine and feels very French, but it’s not working with my chemistry. I love Annick Goutal, but this one is a pass. Don’t be tempted to buy Quel Amour! blind, get a sample first.

Delightme5 used the word 'screechy' & that feels right on the nose (no pun intended lol). This is a spicy floral that skews a bit potpourri-ish to me. If insolence were spicy is the best comparison that comes to mind -- obviously from different floral notes in this one, but yeah spicy peony & geranium in a way I find unwearable.

Poisonous lady's car tires. Weak fruits covered in lots of spicy, aggressive, resinous synthetic. Hard to smell this, it's like poison. Hard to wash off. I asked other person hes thoughts about this perfume and he said that it reminds plastic shoes. There are many good reviews, but for me this does not work at all.

I'm a little dissapointed in this one. I don't like it at all, on paper it was really soft and crisp at the same time and it was actually nice but on my skin it was just toooo sharp. It reminds me of yves saint laurent Parisienne which also has peony in the note...maybe peony does not work for me?

I am so disappointed =''( At first it smelled like lots of detergent mixed with dirty laundry and a bit of fruit. Later it turned into the smell of a very cheap soap... Probably/maybe it's just my chemistry. I expected to like it so much, though ='''(

Bleah .. If you have a cough may 'be fine, but for normal use is really sickening. Perhaps to distinguish it from many other fragrances in this category there was an annoying add mint, or maybe to do with men like it too. Brrrr

Smells exactly like the hairspray my mother used to wear all the time. Pretty strong and obnoxious, disturbed my stomach, and I wear heavy scents like Black orchid during the summer heat, wich tells a lot

I was so relieved when I read here that Quel Amour had a note of mint. I spent many hours trying to determine whether or not my nose had become incredibly confused. Strangely enough, I sensed the mint when I first applied Quel Amour to my skin. It was almost like a breath of toothpaste wafting up to my nose. Although to many that description may be unpleasant, to me it was different and somewhat appealing. The scent began with its minty freshness, before developing into a rich, romantic and classic floral. Peony and rose are very prominent notes in this fragrance. The scent reminded me of beautiful, old-fashioned trinket shops where the smell of pure rose oil used to fill the store. Like most Annick Goutal fragrances, Quel Amour has such a charming presence. In my opinion however, you won't like this fragrance if you don't like her previous scents. Quel Amour is more of an old-fashioned, classic, early 1900's inspired fragrance rather than being a modern scent. The fruity notes in Quel Amour aren't all that strong, although they are present. The peach is hidden in there somewhere however it has been overshadowed by the peony and rose. Quel Amour is your quintessential, rose scented Spring/Fall scent. Thinking of possible similarities, Stella by Stella McCartney comes to mind, however Quel Amour is much lighter and not as modern. This fragrance contains all natural oils and ingredients so you are guaranteed no artificial surprises. The scent is actually really long-lasting on my skin, and that is just for the EDT.

There is so much love put in to all of Annick Goutals fragrances. Like a painting, there are many that are subjective, you can either see in it sadness or joy, enjoy it or despise it. Then there are some paintings, few, that will always bring you a sense of joy. Goutal is such an artist. From a joyful soul she paints her notes into whimsical bottles. Quel Amour is a clean peony fragrance, tart and sharp from the pomegranate and currant, and powdery from the Geranium. It has a very vintage feel, very romantic, and slightly reminds me of Yardleys Rose. It has the feel of a royal French girl before coming of age, exploring her new boudoir, learning the noble and royal ways of perfumery. Imagine a French garden blooming with Peonies and Geranium, eating bowls of tart refreshing Pomegranate, and currants. It is not juicy or sweet, but fresh and warm. It projects beautifully on a slightly windy and cool Spring day. Wearing Quel Amour makes me feel romantic, feminine, and joyful. A noble fragrance.

A soft whisper of rose is listed on the packaging blurb but it's much more than that, this is a variation on Ce Soir Ou Jamais, a less jammy version. I own both. Quel Amour opens with a fizzy sherbet lolly, which I hate. At this point I may as well be wearing any generic fruity floral. Thank goodness that dissipates quite quickly and the lovely tendrils of scent linger on. There's enough tartness to keep it interesting, a touch of incense as the dry down commences and average projection. The dry down is actually lovely and is rather ageless. I can see it equally on a younger or more mature (ahem, that's me) woman. It lingers on scarves in something of a Hermes style; I think that means a lot, it's sylish, there you have it. Conversely, this fragrance would be lovely, emanating off your skin on a warm summers day; you're wearing jeans and a tee and picking fruit and everything is kissable and edible. Oh, to be in love.
