Rose Pompon Eau de Toilette

What a sensation this fragrance is! I have to say I've very impressed and wasn't expecting to be so taken with a fragrance I immediately deemed to be 'Too feminine' just from looking at the name and the little card my sample came on. The truth is Rose Pompon is a fresh, breeze of loveliness and in actual fact not too rosy. The rose note is pride of place of course but sits on a thirst quenching and metallic background and foreground of palette cleansing, cool notes allowing the warmer rose to be suspended in and amoungst them. The opening is instantly berry like and that blackcurrant note doesn't give way to jammy raspberry but becomes greener and more metallic seeming extremely natural in the process. This works fantastically well with a light musky, uplifting feel all around and reminds me at times of Amouage Lyric man, with very clean and consise vibes. Rose Pompon doesn't quite reach the heights of lyric for me and if I'm honest dries to a slightly more powdery version of that opening but still very, very nice indeed and something I'd have no trouble wearing. I didn't apply a great deal and performance has been okay so far but difficult to judge, I'd say it's on the lighter end of the spectrum. Reminds me of an old school teacher I had when I was a kid too, strange how that association just popped into my head, she obviously wore something similar. I'd have to say this is not your typical rose scent, we'll certainly not the deep oud/rose bombs I've become accustomed to sampling and it's great to appreciate rose in a different context. Rose pompon delivered for me I actually love this scent and I'd love it on a woman even more...hats off to Annick Goutal.

Goutal does new-school fleurmand! With her red berry top notes and light patchouli-musk base, Rose Pompon is a cousin to the modern "pink juice" family - like Flowerbomb, Si, and La Vie est Belle. I can't deal with any of these because of their complete lack of chill on the caramel/candy floss front. I'm into Goutal, Diptyque, everything Olivia Giacobetti; that is to say, I prefer light, natural scents. Rose Pompon is a happy marriage between these disparate styles as it replaces the sugary heart with sparkling, luscious rose. I completely get the bit in the ad copy about being inspired by young Parisian women - if LVEB got a makeover by a French style blogger, you'd get Rose Pompon. This scent is very versatile and could, I think, be worn in any season, day or night (though it is not formal). It skews young for sure - I'm 24 and am not sure if this is something I'd still want to wear in five years (but I wouldn't have worn it as a young teenager, either). Decent longevity, low-to-moderate sillage.

'But he that dares not grasp the thorn. Should never crave the rose' I'm in LOVE :D !! This is rose nirvana and EXACTLY the demure scent I sought to wear as a man. . Amongst all the high priced ghastly rose fragrances I tried, Rose Pompon is beautiful and immortal, uncomplicated and kind, unpretentious and sweet. Pure and natural. Youthful and promising. Like a promise of new things to come. I remember smelling tonnes of roses and rose petals thrown on the floor and on statues in churches as a child so possibly why this is such a beautiful experience. I find the EDP to be rich with vanilla, powdery and opulent. But after sniffing the wrist where I'd sprayed the EDT, I was in love. It didn't make me dizzy. The rose is still prominent in the EDT but it's perfectly accompanied with black currant in second and other notes in the background leaving it well blended and easier on the olfactory receptors. Annick Goutal, you've made me very happy tonight. My compliments to you!

I love the fizzy raspberry note in this fragrance! It smells like fresh tea roses that have a slight citrus vibe, very fresh and pretty. It just makes me so happy when I wear it and lasts a very long time on my skin. Although it is unique and lovely enough to stand on its own, I have found this EDT is a decent dupe for Delina by Parfums de Marly. The top notes are very similar, even though this doesn't really have a rhubarb scent. The berry notes here are a bit softer than Delina, and the slightly tart, fizzy, uplifting smell is so similar, Highly recommend this scent if you like Delina and appreciate bright, fresh, jammy rose scents that are not cloying or too sweet. Every spray of this transports me to a fresh sunny day and lifts my spirits. The EDP of this is very deep and to me a completely different scent, so I prefer the EDT for the bright and fresh notes. A winner for me!

The kind of scent that’s equal parts intoxicating and devastating, just like her. 10/10 for pretty girls that breaks sweet heart.
