Rose Pompon Eau de Toilette

What a sensation this fragrance is! I have to say I've very impressed and wasn't expecting to be so taken with a fragrance I immediately deemed to be 'Too feminine' just from looking at the name and the little card my sample came on. The truth is Rose Pompon is a fresh, breeze of loveliness and in actual fact not too rosy. The rose note is pride of place of course but sits on a thirst quenching and metallic background and foreground of palette cleansing, cool notes allowing the warmer rose to be suspended in and amoungst them. The opening is instantly berry like and that blackcurrant note doesn't give way to jammy raspberry but becomes greener and more metallic seeming extremely natural in the process. This works fantastically well with a light musky, uplifting feel all around and reminds me at times of Amouage Lyric man, with very clean and consise vibes. Rose Pompon doesn't quite reach the heights of lyric for me and if I'm honest dries to a slightly more powdery version of that opening but still very, very nice indeed and something I'd have no trouble wearing. I didn't apply a great deal and performance has been okay so far but difficult to judge, I'd say it's on the lighter end of the spectrum. Reminds me of an old school teacher I had when I was a kid too, strange how that association just popped into my head, she obviously wore something similar. I'd have to say this is not your typical rose scent, we'll certainly not the deep oud/rose bombs I've become accustomed to sampling and it's great to appreciate rose in a different context. Rose pompon delivered for me I actually love this scent and I'd love it on a woman even more...hats off to Annick Goutal.

Goutal does new-school fleurmand! With her red berry top notes and light patchouli-musk base, Rose Pompon is a cousin to the modern "pink juice" family - like Flowerbomb, Si, and La Vie est Belle. I can't deal with any of these because of their complete lack of chill on the caramel/candy floss front. I'm into Goutal, Diptyque, everything Olivia Giacobetti; that is to say, I prefer light, natural scents. Rose Pompon is a happy marriage between these disparate styles as it replaces the sugary heart with sparkling, luscious rose. I completely get the bit in the ad copy about being inspired by young Parisian women - if LVEB got a makeover by a French style blogger, you'd get Rose Pompon. This scent is very versatile and could, I think, be worn in any season, day or night (though it is not formal). It skews young for sure - I'm 24 and am not sure if this is something I'd still want to wear in five years (but I wouldn't have worn it as a young teenager, either). Decent longevity, low-to-moderate sillage.

'But he that dares not grasp the thorn. Should never crave the rose' I'm in LOVE :D !! This is rose nirvana and EXACTLY the demure scent I sought to wear as a man. . Amongst all the high priced ghastly rose fragrances I tried, Rose Pompon is beautiful and immortal, uncomplicated and kind, unpretentious and sweet. Pure and natural. Youthful and promising. Like a promise of new things to come. I remember smelling tonnes of roses and rose petals thrown on the floor and on statues in churches as a child so possibly why this is such a beautiful experience. I find the EDP to be rich with vanilla, powdery and opulent. But after sniffing the wrist where I'd sprayed the EDT, I was in love. It didn't make me dizzy. The rose is still prominent in the EDT but it's perfectly accompanied with black currant in second and other notes in the background leaving it well blended and easier on the olfactory receptors. Annick Goutal, you've made me very happy tonight. My compliments to you!

I love the fizzy raspberry note in this fragrance! It smells like fresh tea roses that have a slight citrus vibe, very fresh and pretty. It just makes me so happy when I wear it and lasts a very long time on my skin. Although it is unique and lovely enough to stand on its own, I have found this EDT is a decent dupe for Delina by Parfums de Marly. The top notes are very similar, even though this doesn't really have a rhubarb scent. The berry notes here are a bit softer than Delina, and the slightly tart, fizzy, uplifting smell is so similar, Highly recommend this scent if you like Delina and appreciate bright, fresh, jammy rose scents that are not cloying or too sweet. Every spray of this transports me to a fresh sunny day and lifts my spirits. The EDP of this is very deep and to me a completely different scent, so I prefer the EDT for the bright and fresh notes. A winner for me!

And here’s the thing: she’ll absolutely shatter your heart into designer-dusted pieces, vanish on a whirlwind trip around the globe, and still manage to smell divine while doing it. The kind of scent that’s equal parts intoxicating and devastating, just like her. 10/10 for pretty girls that breaks sweet heart.

totally unique take on rose and love it; this goes on very green, rose with a tartness that is like currant, grapefruit or rhubarb mix then a little peony, musk and cedar with a hint of pink pepper but not a sneezer; not a ripe fruitiness at all but a tartness and also the fragrance has a citrus//bug spray/hairspray opening but not in an ugly bad way, it's almost like something sharp that lifts the fragrance like an aldehyde would to keep it from being jammy or too rosy or too fruity, it's airy; not very long-lasting for a Goutal and sort of close projection after five sprays, delicate

Sweet, fresh, vibrant, romantic, hot pink rose. There is some tart fruitiness from the raspberry that plays along perfectly with the rose note. I immediately smell the cedar at first whiff, making it different from any rose scent I’ve ever tried. I really love this. It’s so feminine and youthful, and it just makes me happy. I could see myself spraying this to brighten up a gloomy day.

This is one of my all-time favorites, and it evokes a particular scent memory, something not all fragrances do: unwrapping presents on Christmas morning. I know it’s weird, but to me the green in this reads as evergreen tree, and the fresh bright fruity rose somehow comes across as plasticky in the best possible way, like the fresh smell of gift wrap and new toy smell.

I would have been so thrilled to wear this one when I was 13. It smells like a nostalgic rose bud scent that you recognize from somewhere before ..dipped in a jar with raspberry candy. You'll smell young, innocent and fashionable. I find the longevity and projection very poor though. 6 / 10

What a wonderful little gem! It reminds me a lot of Lalique Amethyst, to me they are pretty much the same, but Rose Pompon is more sophisticated, a little juicier and with more rose. I'm so glad I got a chance to own this beauty because this fragrance is just amazing!

I have the eau de parfum version and I love it. Its name describes it perfectly, rosy, feminine and sweet. I do find that Goutal fragrances have strong sillage and longevity which I appreciate.

Seeing the pink bottle and cute name, I was expecting a transparent, white musk infused pink rose. You can guess my surprise when I was hit by a rosy spicy opening of pink pepper upon spraying Rose Pompon. It's soon joined by the green, earthy, sharp cassis leaves and its slightly warm animalic, tart fruits. The overall effect is reminiscent of tomato leaves and dried ripe cherry tomato, delicious and unexpected! Later on, as the raspberry joins the party, the fruitiness becomes more decadent, more jammy, while being kept in check by a piercing yet transparent pink peony note. Interestingly, the rose is not too explicit compared to various berries and peony, but at the same time, the whole effect is of a jammy rose, but still on the branch because of herbal earthy cassis and patchouli. The dry down is more common as a jammy, cheerful rose patchouli, and grows quite sweet with time. The sillage is moderate to soft, and the longevity is around 8 hours. Rose Pompon is indeed a pink, joyful fruity rose, perfect for an adolescent girl or anyone who would like a blast in a warm spring day. Although I find the dry down too sweet for my taste, the tomato leaf/dried tomato combination is quite original to my nose. Rose Pompon, while keeping the balance and remaining exuberant, also has some twists up her sleeves. I would definitely recommend it as a youthful, wild, fruity floral rose fragrance, but because of the sharp greenness of cassis, I would strongly suggest trying it first.

I got a sample of Rose Pompon quite by chance, and I think it's very nice; in fact, the first time I tested it, I liked it so much I came close to impulse-buying a full bottle. Like all of the very best fruity florals, it offers that perfect balance between high quality sweet floral notes and deliciously tart fruity ones. And that might not be my favourite thing in all of perfumery anymore, now that I'm in my thirties and my tastes have been expanded by years of sampling, but I still find it pretty damn irresistible when it's done as well as in this one. But now that my sample is used up and the honeymoon is over, I don't think I'll get that full bottle after all. I think user cutetrang below got it right: nice as this is (and like I said, it's very nice!), it's not very special, especially after the vibrant first opening has worn off after a couple of minutes, and in general longevity isn't great. Also, on reflection, I really don't think I need two fruity floral roses in my collection, and I realized that I prefer the one I already have from that category, Miss Charming, anyway. Fittingly enough, I think that one just has a little bit more (lasting) charm to it.

This fragrance is so pretty! It smells of clean musky rose, peony, and berries in the opening. It also has an effervescent quality and I'm thinking the pink pepper causes this bubbly effect. Though not listed, I'm smelling a round woody vanilla or caramel in the drydown. Very lovely scent that is best worn at the end of winter into spring. It reminds me of Delina by Marley, Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Femme, and Rose Rouge Van Cleef & Arpels. This is what I wanted the Miss Dior Blooming fragrances to smell like. Where they are generic, Rose Pompon is more creative. I've had a sample of this fragrance for a long time but didn't feel like my thoughts on it were gathered properly until now. Regarding longevity, sillage and projection, everything is on the low end for me. -

Just received it today, it smells lovely!! Lots of raspberry, with floral notes underneath, the overall tone is so pretty, I like it, but it isn't anything new...it has been done before, this would be a tame version of Lancome midnight rose, and a bit of Lalique Amethyste eclat too...so it isnt like a splash of fruits...it is a refined fruity floral...the blackcurrant is definitely there too...I do not get though the warmer base as much...it is overall light, and seems to disappear rather fast...had I tried it before, I probably wouldn't have bought a bottle, although it smells quite nice. Goutal had fun with that one, it offers no complexity, it is like a wink to the upcoming Spring. Would see a 12 year old girl with bows in her hair wearing it!!

CLEAR and VERY SWEET ROSE ______________________________________________________ I'm still looking for a good rose fragrance and I was surprised by Rose Pompon by Annick Goutal. I have to admit the design of the bottle threw me off at first and considered it to something like Poison Girl. But I was very wrong and i'm glad I was. From the beginning the rose is very clear and very present. But very soon the black currant takes over and dominates the entire dry down. But thankfully the rose doesn't back down and keep it's position firm. Longevity: - 8/10 Sillage: - 8/10 All in all: 9 out of 10 subjective points -> because it's very pleasant

An energetic, elegant and pretty rose. An elegant alternative to Delina with a smoother and more refined execution and a more berry-ish accord. This is syrupy, effervescent, and hyperfeminine. This reminds me of a pretty, elegant Parisian en route to a corporate soft girl job. She's adorned in a tailored suit, fuschia lipstick, rose blush, stilettos, perfectly sleek brunette hair, and a dainty delicate frame and she stops to purchase a beautiful bouquet of roses on her way home before enjoying a glass of pomegranate wine on her balcony.

Pretty, musky and powdery version of rose. This is such an office-friendly rose. First things first, this is Eau de Toilette which doesn't last THAT long. Secondly, the rose is not atomic bomb or overly cloying, toned down with the powdery and musky vibe. These reasons make the fragrance actually suitable to wear all-year round, and office-friendly. I'd love to wear this all day long but for the price of Goutal, I'd be saving a few spritz and not overspraying.

This is a pretty well blended fragrance. No element overwhelms the other. This is very fruity upon the 1st spray w/ lots of black currant and raspberry but as it progresses it become a musky, fruity rose that is very subdued, refined and feminine. This is nice perfume for the office, or any event. A nice all year around fragrance and what is called in the perfume world an easy dumb reach.

Tart, juicy and uplifting rose tinted with peony. The fruity burst in the opening adds to the very happy tone of the perfume. It's not a heavy, a dark or a jammy rose but it's certainly not a transparent nor watery rose either. Smells very fresh and youthful. Not candy sweet but definitely on the sweeter side.

This reminds me of late summer hazy days fruit picking in raspberry fields. Sweet with a delicious sour edge, so fresh you can taste it. The rose element is a soft tea rose, lighter than air, so girlish that it skips any romantic connotations. While lovely, it is very delicate and fades all too quickly.

Dainty. Feminine. Sweet. Rosy. Gentle. Happy. Musky. Long lasting. That’s all I can say, apart from the fact that I love love love love it :)

Very rose very fruit. I can see this on young girls but it's a bit much for anyone else. It's nice though!

Whoever says this is like Delina needs to have their nose checked. Also not like Amethyst either. This is a very spritzy, very light ..maybe rose, really its more light black currant and pink pepper than rose. The green leaf aspect of black currant is present in the top notes when you first spray it on. Pompon is kind of like opening a Perrier and putting black currant and rose essence in it, and adding a tiny dash of pink pepper and the spritz rising to the surface giving off a combined aroma of these three, Great hot weather issue but not particularly original. Normally Goutal’s have something different and curiosity rising to them so Pompon is a slight let down to that regard, perfectly lovely but nothing interesting going on here. Taking this type of an idea to a more interesting direction I would go towards Byredos Rose of No Man’s Land. Anyway, its warm here in the UK today so I’m spritzing happily and plentifully - its not a particularly strong fragrance. Doesn’t change much, and lasts maybe up to 3h.

This is very similar to Lalique Amethyst, but a little more floral and clean instead of fruity and sweet. I smell a full red rose, some peony and lots of berries. I'm very surprised blackberry isn't a listed note, I get an intense blackberry including the green leaves of the shrub. But also syrupy cassis and raspberry notes. What I don't like about this is that the rose is a little soapy on my skin, I'm more of a fan of jammy or dewy-fresh rose notes. But that's a matter of personal taste. Ultimately this is a pretty scent, nothing more, nothing less. If you like it and haven't tried Amethyst yet, I would suggest to sample that one before buying Rose Pompon, as they're very close and Amethyst costs less than half as much as this.

Putting this here under the 2018 EDT, though in fact neither my sample nor the invoice specified if it was the EDT or EDP. I'm more likely to purchase EDP's because I prefer their relative strength, but this fragrance hung around only briefly so EDT is my best guess. It's a beautiful clean and fresh rose from the vial. On skin and wet, it is lovely but within 6m this is already only detectable by putting nose to skin and not as fresh and bright as it opened. 40m in this has diminshed considerably and is nothing like its open. A flat, generic muddled rose. 5hr later just a trace of pleasant rose skin scent. Such a promising opening. The search for a fresh clean modern rose continues.

I really do like this fragrance and it is such a spot on ringer for YSL's original Babydoll. The combination of the pink pepper, berry and rose works really well with my skin. I was really craving a light and lovely rose scent that would be perfectly blended with my most favorite scented lotion- Lait corporel extra pur rose!! For a summer scent it is lovely! It was the first time I ordered from the Annick Goutal U.S.website, after picking up a sample from Saks Fifth Avenue. I prefer it to the older rose scents that were popular in the late seventies up through the nineties. Tea Rose was quite the standard at the time, although for my tastes, it was a bit too sharp. Tresor by Lancome had too much going on while at the same time, it was a bit twee. I know that Paris by YSL was extremely popular, but to my sensitive nose, it was overwhelmed by a piercing violet.

This EDT has a peony note, which the EDP doesn't have. Peony is often made from the same chemical as lily of the valley which sometimes bothers me. I don't care for this fragrance, and the peony note is probably the reason. I think I might like the EDP if I get a chance to try that one. The EDT 2020 and EDP 2020 both have notes I probably would not like either, so there's only 1 of the 4 I would probably like. I still want to try the EDP someday. I like many of Goutal's other fragrances.

As much as I love Goutal fragrances, this one is not one that I care for at all. It's too strong and fruity for me. It does not dry down on me at all. Such a disappointment. If any one wants it I would happily send it off to you.

I wanted to like it. I didn't. It lacks of natural smell, remindes me a very expensive soap. The bright side is that I only bought a sample, so the blind buy didn't make real damage on my bank acount.

Cute, young, fresh and beautiful. It smells like its name sounds. There is something adorable about this rose scent. Perfect as a fresh day scent. Great for spring and summer. I love it!

This is what I imagine Violet Beauregarde smelled like as she was transformed from a gum chewing pre-teen into a giant blueberry. It lasted about 15 minutes on my skin.

I'm a big fan of AG's all rose, but this time is no... never. Just another banal fruity floral which is berries are dominant - Not a distinctive rose before.

I tolerate rose in many scents that blend it with other elements I love but this is too much full on rose. No go for me.

New releases from Annick Goutal still have the ability to capture my attention. Her range is often garden-inspired, delightfully old-fashioned and packaged beautifully. I have been craving rose scents as of late, especially seeing that I wore many rose fragrances last season and used up many of my favourite rose perfumes. I have been on the lookout for more to add to my collection and Rose Pompon was on the top of my list. Rose Pompon opens very fresh and crisp, like a real dew-kissed garden rose. It has the tendency to smell quite green on the skin as well. For at least the first hour of wear, Rose Pompon is a Spring-appropriate pink rose scent. As this fragrance settles, fruity aromas such as black currant and raspberry come to the fore, followed by musky patchouli and cedarwood. The drydown smells more cold weather appropriate than the refreshing, Spring-like opening. Rose Pompon could possibly be worn all year round. The sillage is rather strong with a good scent throw, and the longevity is quite impressive too. Not at all bad for an EDT, especially seeing that EDTs from Annick Goutal are well-known for their appalling longevity. Rose Pompon just goes to show that Annick Goutal is still capable of producing beautiful, timeless scents. I'm excited that this fragrance may also appeal to younger consumers, encouraging more people to explore this brand.

Seeing the mixed reviews, but having a soft spot for Annick Goutal, I decided to smell this in the Madison Avenue boutique. Loved it so much that I purchased a small bottle. The opening is quite berry jam, and the dry down is a musky-rose with some tenderness. (Sometimes, musk can be too strong, but here, it adds just the right amount of depth.) I don't really smell any peony. The overall mood of Rose Pompon is sweet, yet sultry. I think the spirit of the modern French girl is accurately captured here. A good friend of mine is Parisian, and I could see her wearing this. She is low-key, yet you will always notice her; she is always put-together, yet doesn't spend hours getting ready; she is a gamine, yet possesses a certain sophistication. The sillage of this is arm's length, and the lasting power was all day, despite being an EDT. A true love, and one I will reach for much this fall & winter.

This has a vibrant, fresh quality. It reminds me of sunny, warm spring days. Rose and currant are here, hanging out with pink pepper and patchouli. Drydown has a little wood but it doesn’t really change at all on my skin. This isn’t necessarily a negative since I really like it from beginning to end. Rose Pompon really reminds me of Gucci Guilty Absolute pour Femme. I think the blackberry in the latter has the same fizzy quality the black currant has here. Along with other notes, these two are within a few degrees of separation. I usually don’t like fruit driven scents. But I’m liking this in part, because there are no white florals. That makes this quite lovely and very likeable.

My favorite Annick Goutal is Eau d'Hadrien, which smells like a lemony cloud and is considered unisex. I was looking forward to Rose Pompon as a more feminine alternative, but it is not for me. I have "tart" skin, so scents usually need to be sweet to compensate. On me, Rose Pompon smells heavily of pink pepper and cedar. The cedar, in particular, is distracting. It almost smells like spearmint. I get very little of the floral. It is a bright, light fragrance, long-lasting with moderate sillage. It is a complex fragrance which does not change with time. It smells very "French," somehow. I wish it worked for me, and I will certainly try Annick Goutal again.

+fresh rosy opening +jammy sweet rose but not headach-y sweet + very refreshing scent, perfect for warm or even hot days +affordable prices online available, so it is good. Would not pay full price though -lasting power is around 3-4h. It is not that great but still ok, since it is so refreshing to spray it on again - nothing new and revolutionary but an easy to like scent - blind buy safe, if you love sweet, fresh roses that are not too green but still decently clean - youthful scent, so ofc a mature person coooould wear it, but I find it more suitable for younger women / men BUT wear what you want and feel comfortable with :)

It’s pretty enough, clean and not too sweet, and I’m in a girly phase. But my god even though I like florals and freshies in general this has the absolute worst performance of anything I’ve ever worn in terms of silage and longevity. Barely noticeable on the first spray and gets worse afterwards. The blackcurrant opener is dominant vs the rose. You’d be a million times better off on performance and price with L’Occitane Four Reines or Dior Blooming Bouquet / Rose n Roses (which aren’t the same but for girly rosy vibes etc).

Received a sample of this after purchasing a different Annick Goutal perfume not too long ago. Finally tested it on my skin. This is a very fresh, almost fizzy rose complemented with some berries - very youthful, happy and light. Could make a great perfume for a pre-pubescent girl. As time wore on however this took on an odd, somewhat sour note on my skin which was really unpleasant. I love rose, but this isn’t the kind for me. This is very juvenile in my opinion, I need something sexier to ground my rose.

This is a really Prtty composed but not to original fragrance from Goutal's daughter. This is perfect for someone who likes uncomplicated scents that are easy to wear and on the soft/fruity side. Perfect for young ladies who loves their scents soft and cuddly. This is almost a dead ringer especially the top and middle notes for YSL Babydoll. If you love this scent but are on a bit of a budget go find Babydoll on one of the larger discount fragrance sites for a bargain and enjoy! :)

Everyone is so crazy about this scent but to me there's definitely a distinctive and enduring "body odor" facet straight out of the bottle that is less than appealing. Something about that musk/cedar/patchouli combo just does not work for my nose. Maybe I got a bad bottle? Or am just highly sensitive to that particular "musk" note? Smells like an athlete who forgot deodorant and tried to mask it with a very girly perfume. Not good.

I really wanted to love this because I love roses. It smelled beautiful on my friend so I thought I would give a try. Unfortunately , it didn't work for me which was surprising cos I thought it smelled like an easy scent to wear. Weirdly enough said friend insisted it smelled so good on me too but to my nose, it smelled like I bathed in sour blackcurrant. Gifted her the bottle and she couldn't be happier!

the ideal fruity floral...so juicy, tart, and, yes, pink smelling. once it dries down, it smells like pure grapefruit juice on my skin, as a few others have also noted, and I really love it actually. It's like the most realistic pink grapefruit juice smell, it's almost like aromatherapy because it's so juicy and uplifting.

-Reminiscent of stuff from the Maison Dior lineup. -Clean, rosy citrus scent with much better longevity than MFK's A la Rose. -Not fbw. (-) *Update* -No. Just no. Grandma's powder room with a giant splash of cheap rose-scent room spray. -This one brings on a headache so quick I had to scrub it off. (-)

I love rose. Mostly dark, gothic rose. This rose is young and flirty and light. At first it smelled very retro and very not me. But then came the dry down and the syrup. This syrup is yummy and grown up. Not candy like but very delicious raspberry sorbet

This doesn't smell like rose to me. It's very green. Smells like Christmas. Nice, but not what I was looking for out of this perfume. It does dry down to this beautiful raspberry jam scent, but that's after many hours of wear.

all goutals are exquisitely balanced. this is a very tart raspberry rose, and i was surprised to get a little patchouli. really nice. super sophisticated choice for a young girl/woman.
