Un Matin d'Orage Eau de Parfum

Edit 1 on Sep 14, 2023 After receiving Creed Iris Tuberose, I found out that this is not Tuberose fragrance.. Tuberose fragrance come with green edge but this is not. This is Gardenia fragrance. But it like it has been rained heavily So it is indole stronger. Depends on your mood. I don’t find it redundant between This and gardenia passion. (That one is more fresh, but no way as fresh like Tuberose) This had something to do with Myrrh / ambre powdery undertone. It smell almost like wet soil ===== Un Matin d'Orage (EDP) (Usd 60,0121A/15, binb tester) I own Gardenia Passion for a short period before this, also I own - JML Tuberose and Diptyque Doson. This is the most heady white floral in the brunch, also the most realistic, like you can almost smell the resin-like smell from from flower itself. The floral in here, is non-described but definitely white floral. Also interestingly I find this offer much better complexion in replication of actual white floral. This is by-far my most impressive White flower fragrance. The next one will be Amouage Opus IX and I will probably ending this venture and move on to another realm instead. Score 10/10 (I like the headiness in this) classification : Femme (very heady white floral) Bottom note on SUN 16 Jul: I was visiting Thai local niche fragrance shop where I have a chance to smell “Tuberose Absolute”; surprisingly this fragrance reminds me of it with additional note to make it smoother, a bit more creamy. But the essence of being heady white floral just encapsulate or replica so well inside this fragrance. Salute to you, Goutal Paris.

It was an extremely hot day for the beginning of May, but when I left work the sky was heavy with rain clouds and the air was filled with electricity. I stopped at a mall on the way home and decided to test some Annick Goutal’s perfumes. I never liked her perfumes really. At the same time I was not indifferent, they seemed to attract my attention with their peculiarity. And then I smelled Un Matin D’Orage on a day like this! When I left the mall, the rain has already stopped. What can I say...? It was a perfection - the perfume and that day complemented each other. I find this perfume to be extremely sentimental, a flawless recreation of beautiful moment in nature. Un Matin D’Orage is exactly that - the smell of garden after rain. The plants and flowers, the earth, ozone... I can feel jasmine, osmanthus (?) and somewhere on the background that glorious earthy-mushroomy scent of soil after rain. For some reason I would use words like voluptuous and creamy to describe it. It is divine! Sheer essence of warm rainy day in a bottle! Another stereotype broken! See, I thought I don’t like Annick Goutal’s perfumes, I also though I’m not a fan of white flowers. Hilarious!

I’m surprised to see so few reviews of this gorgeous scent. I bought this at Annick Goutal on a trip to Paris. The staff at the tiny store near place Vendome were so helpful my review includes a recommendation to shop for your Annick Goutal in Paris if you ever find yourself there. This scent is an unusual floral. It’s green and watery and grassy on top of a beautiful white floral bouquet. The description of a garden after a storm is spot-on. Unlike a prior reviewer, I do get a very slight vanilla smell, but it’s not sweet or cloying, and it integrates very well with the wet flowers. I find it to be both a daytime and a night time scent. The ladies at Annick Goutal gave me a “nuit” sample for the evening but I’ve just been reapplying my Matin d’Orage if I’m going out in the evening. The women also suggested a light mist on each arm, and then a spritz on my scarf, so that the fragrance is released when by scarf wafts about. Could this be a more French approach? I’d say I either go nose blind to this by midday or it wears away, but the scarf tip is a good one, because I find myself intentionally moving my scarf to get another lucious hit.

A Valentine's Day present from my husband (okay, I picked it out), I had never smelled this before. I also own AG's Gardenia Passion, which was my gateway drug into my love of white florals, but as far as gardenia fragrances go, I now prefer this one! I usually prefer creamy, heady gardenia and tuberose, but while still creamy, there is a freshness to the composition, almost as if the excesses of these powerhouse florals were stripped down and cleansed by a rain storm! It sounds like a cliche, but it is true. I am having trouble smelling the myrrh and the guaic wood, but I think they will become more apparent under different conditions. As of now, I have only worn it indoors at home. This is a standout among my other gardenia fragrances due to it's freshness, and I am pleased that my blind choice paid off. PS - almost forgot to mention the magnolia. While it blends in with the gardenia and tuberose seamlessly, it adds a lemony twist to the juice, adding to the freshness. I have fallen in love with magnolia and will be searching out other fragrances that feature it.

as it starts to rain more i look to this one again and again . it has an emotional feel to it, the bouquet here is melancholy . but to balance that, the base notes are warm and more present than the pyramid shows (vanilla for gardenia, myrrh for tuberose, palo for magnolia) . i havent tried the edt but i get a champaca note for sure . its very floral and at times might be oddly lactonic/animalic so id test it out . despite that, i think this is a beautiful scent, very lasting, modern floral, its in the same style as gardenia - chanel, but UMDO is warmer and closer to reality . also similar to bacami - bvlgari, but that one has less mystery, much more straightforward . boujee southern belle .

Un Matin d'Orage Eau de Parfum - put this on the EDT erroneously- I have the EDP. And LOVE it. A French garden after rain. The petals aren't bruised, they are refreshed and grateful for the drink. It's been sultry & warm and hints are still in the air but the rain has refreshed enough to allow the writer/composer/artist to get back to work and create. The green tea like aspects are virtuous - cucumber flavoured water on a spa day sipped while you stand next to a vase of fresh gardenias. But beneath your virtuous facade you have mysterious passionate depths. Bliss. Plus...a no-headache Gardenia. More bliss.

Curious - was browsing through Vol. 1 of "The Guide", and came upon LT's 2 star review. Wither there once was a completely different UNdO once upon a time, or someone played a trick on him. He calls this a "woody fig", something about a woody amber note, and a "fresh, green fragrance". I suppose you COULD say it possesses fresh, green notes, but if this is a woody fig/woody amber, then I'm Catherine Deneuve!! What it is is a stunning garden of white flowers after an early morning rain storm. What is he talking about? I have EDP, but the EDT notes are basically the same...

"Damp Mineral Spring" Evocative Among the rarest perfumes where I inhale deeply and feel restored by the beauty of it. This smells like fresh dewy magnolias after a rainstorm. The mineral quality of stones, damp soil, the sky after lightning strikes; you smell all these things. This is an atmospheric scent. A little chilly and damp. I love wearing it in the late spring through early summer. Un Matin d’Orage EDP is a thing of beauty. A work of art. EPIC. PS: highly recommend this scent to any other pluviophiles out there!

This is such a refreshingly beautiful fragrance. Reading through the reviews I have to agree with everyone that this is like a rain drenched garden. This is my first Annick Goutal and I'm wondering why I waited this long to try something from this line. So glad I went with the reviews here because this turned out to be a great blind buy.

A gardenia in a garden, full of fresh green grass, while someone is eating a tiny, tiny desert, sitting on a bench in the background. A great, somewhat old fashioned floral experience . On me it opens up sweet, green, and smooth (not lactonic though), a bit woody, with gardenia being the main character in a pretty floral blend. The dry down is pretty much the same, but sweeter, and a tad bit warmer with wood and myrhh peeking through. The vanilla is barely noticeable, adding a sofisticated sweetness throughout the journey. After a few uses I couldn't get enough of it. The sillage is moderate, on myself I can feel its scent throughout the day, and after a night of sleep it can still linger, but people around you won't smell it strongly if at all after a few hours. That being said if your nose is sensitive - do not overspray. I grew to love this one, especially in cold weather for some reason, the sweetness is much more pleasant.

Personally I find this very green. Very much like what I thought the edt would be. I think with Goutal fragrances the edt and edp are about strength not about real differences in accords. This is quite green, lemony from the magnolia and quite full of ginger. More tuberose than gardenia in the heart as well. It reminds me of the Bloom flanker with the green and black sticker on pink bottle. But this is a softer green tuberose version of that fragrance. While I like this it's not something I would buy a FB of and will probably give my samples away. Personally I think Gardenia Passion might be more my style. This is to lemony, very gingery and green. The dry down is better. Tamed some of that grassy green and ginger punch down but this isn't a gardenia for me. Lovely if you like very green gardenia with lemony magnolia and ginger.

I have a 2ml EDP sample as part of a discovery box. Initially, I found this very overpowering, but it precisely mimics the smell of these flowers experienced on a muggy summer morning in the immediate aftermath of a sudden, summer storm. As the flowers dry in the sun, the intensity fades. I am not generally very happy with tuberose and white flowers but tried this because it’s in the box. I think that having only a 2ml sample encourages me to use it sparingly and I think this is how it should be used. It’s not one for overspraying. I think the 2ml sample will last me quite a long time as I will only wear it when the mood is right. I like it and I am enjoying the experience but it’s definitely not for every day.

A big bouquet of white flowers. Delicate, a strong floral white perfume. A walk in a French garden, timeless.

For me too it is an overwhelming floral fragrance, headache-inducing and long-lasting.It was a blind buy based on the fact that I liked Lèau D ́Hadrien and especially Le Chevrefeuille and also based on the positive reviews here prising it als lush ans fresh, but on me it is only a heavy and jarring gardenia-fragrance.Definitely NOT a blind buy!Maybe it could be layered with something else, but in a low-dose...

Make sure you test this one (but also other Goutals) on your skin before making a decision – unfortunately on me it turns unbearable! I’m seriously heartbroken because Un Matin d’Orage develops a strong sickening aroma that fills me with nausea. The floral notes get lost and are literally replaced by a nightmare. Same effect with other perfumes by this house – too bad!

I rely heavily on reviews - their descriptions, emotions the scents create and their analysis of the notes . It baffles me how like our personalities , we differ greatly with what we smell and how the scent reacts with our bodies . I bought this and Goutal’s Gardenia , both on a blind buy based on reviews, my search for my perfect white floral perfumes and of course , the bargain price they were going for . Both were a disappointment ! 😔 I tried to like them and gave them each time but I can’t get over the dirty, green, soily smell it leaves on me . Can only smell flowers that are rotting. I should of listened when Goutal’s Songes was another disppointment . All way too heavy, in an old fashioned way . I’ll keep away from this perfume house but always good to give it a go . Wish it worked on my skin 🙁

I regret putting this on... very heady white floral

I was able to compare both the EDT and the latest EDP of Un Matin d'Orage side by side. These two concentrations are pretty similar in the opening: creamy dewy gardenia. The EDP feels a bit more intense and sweeter, but only slightly. The major difference is in the drydown. The gardenia in the EDT gradually mellows into a soapy green ambiance, while in the EDP, it insteand becomes more luscious. The gardenia note in the EDP is still pretty similar to that in the EDT, but the tuberose nuance is also more detectable. Although I can't really discern amber, myrrh and vanilla, but they certainly add more heft to the gardenia. I would say the EDP is one step closer to those big florals from the same house, such as Songes and Passion, than the EDT. On me, the gardenia in EDT gets lost in the green elements after about 4 to 5 hours, but in EDP it's more present even after 7 hours and the total longevity is almost 12 hours. The sillage of EDP is also moderate to heavy, espacially during the first 2 hours. Personally, I still find the EDT suits best 'a stormy morning' with its brilliant dewy green elements accompanying the creamy gardenia, but its performance and the elusive gardenia do leave me desiring something more. If you happen to have similar feeling towards the EDT, you may want to try the lastest EDP version of Un Matin d'Orage.

Ma, odio i fiori bianchi.qui regnano solo quelli. un pochino scaldati dalla mirra.e un po di legno guajc all'apertura. La tuberosa e'forte e verde ma non troppo dolce e la magnolia e' 'rilassante e romantica ma svanisce presto. Buono il drydown. Non per la mia donna ma perfetto da sotterrare in giardino con la luna calante. Sorry.

milky sweet floral amber, reminds me of juicy fruit gum while rummaging through my moms purse as a kid I did notice some fresh slightly airy notes but the fruity amber accord dominates Made me think of Ambre Royale by Ormond Jayne & “pretty” barefoot blonde girls running through a meadow being...girly Several sprays decent projection, lasts several hours
