Madagascan Jasmine

:) I tested this today at Scent Bar and took home a sample to take try out later on... it's so so beautiful! Green and crisp, similar to Carnal Flower, but CF has more of a complex body to it. This is more of a bubblegum-ish tuberose in the most pleasant way. If you're a tuberose lover, I feel like you'd really enjoy this. I DID!!! :D The weather's pretty rainy at the moment, so I'll come back with an edit when I test this out in the heat/warmer weather. Also, here's the notes for Madagascan Jasmine on Grandiflora's official website! :) I had a feeling there was so much more to it than just jasmine and green notes... Top: Mango, green tropical fruits Heart: Jasmine (Madagascan), white flowers, green foliage Base: Musk, smoky accord, roasted Cacao Edit: I've officially run out of my sample for this. It's so lush, crisp, and almost dewy. I'm mainly picking up on the white flowers and the greenness with hints of what almost smells tobacco-y? Will I ever purchase a fully bottle of this? Maybe. It's not the perfect Jasmine but it's up there for sure!

A beautiful heady white floral that has a hothouse feel to it. Humid, green, earthy, lightly indolic, lightly sweet, yet not heavy like Gardenia or Tuberose, but just as intoxicating. On first spray it felt as if I just stepped inside a hothouse filled with flowering plants, or off a plane and onto a tropical paradise. It gave me that same warm, lush feeling of being flooded with the scent of nature and flowers in the air. In a strange way, this almost feels as if I am not wearing a perfume at all but rather am covered in actual blooms. That's how realistic the flowers are here. It's very apparent some masterful blending occurred to make this floral smell so dynamically real, and also clear no expense spared by the quality. This is niche in every sense of the word, but especially as a work of art. And I consider this a work of art at the highest level. Absolutely unique and devastatingly beautiful. This is a 10 all around in my book.

This is such a beautiful soliflore jasmine. It reminds me a lot of the beautiful simplicity found in A La Nuit. Although, I might dare to say this one is even more purely like smelling nothing but the actual flower. Some purely jasmine scents have quite a screechy hairspray quality that this definitely, gratefully lacks. It’s got a pinch of chocolate in the far dry down and it’s personality is dewy, innocent, realistic, and pure. It’s an absolute stunner. Update: The longer I wore this the more indolic and animalic it became on me. But I live in a very hot, humid climate so that could have something to do with that or maybe it’s just my skin. I still really love it.

One of my absolute favorites... repurchased multiple times. To me, it’s the perfect day scent: green and dewy jasmine that glistens in heat. It opens tropical and has a smoky base, but it’s never musty... always green and clean. Perfectly unisex in my opinion (for jasmine lovers). It smells like nature... like walking past a jasmine bush in full bloom during the day. I oscillate between this and a la nuit for best jasmine ... ALN is colder , like walking by that same bush but at night. ALN is a little more romantic, MJ is a bit sweeter... but neither are by any means nice. I Iove them both, this one lasts longer. Saskia from the same line is also floral perfection.

Exquisite. It’s a fully rounded jasmine with a sparkling quality. The tropical and green notes are subtle to me but give it that effect of walking through a lush garden on a summer night. I’ve had the Grandiflora sample pack for a while - the whole collection is enjoyable and at the moment I’m obsessed with this one. It’s early autumn here now and wearing it on a milder day I’m finding it more potent than in recent hot weather when I had to reapply it after a couple of hours. But the opening is so good I’ll happily do that anyway. Agree with others here this is definitely worth sampling if you’re a floral lover.

Just received a decant of this and a few other jasmine-centric perfumes in my search to find the one for me. This is a top contender. I know that this is not technically a jasmine perfume, as Madagascar jasmine is actually stephanotis, but oh, is it intoxicating. As it develops on my skin, the initial freshness deepens into a deeper, richer soliflore. Yes, it is linear, but it's almost as if the air and the warmth of my skin opens it up, creating a creamy white floral that is far greater than the sum of it's parts. I will continue my exploration of jasmine, but this one is definitely a keeper and FBW!

I am not a white floral fan, but I have to take my hat off for this one. Madagascan Jasmine is one of the most natural smelling jasmine soliflores I have ever laid my nose upon. Its petals are fresh and crunchy with sap, with a touch of bitter green around the edges. And underneath lies all the creamy, indolic goodness a jasmine perfume should offer. MJ has a lot of body, so beware. Two sprays on the back of the hand are enough to turn the air around you into a floral paradise. Though, like a cut flower, it wilts into a whisper after 2 - 3 hours (lasts longer in summer). Stunning!

Madagascan Jasmine feels so alluringly regal to me. Opening with green notes that are reminiscent of weedy dandelions, natural and stemmy, then blooming into a stunning soliflor with rich, sweet petals in an elegant leafy bouquet. Smooth and not screechy despite the green notes which lend a floral muskiness. According to the brand website, this is the scent of stephanotis, also known as Madagascar jasmine which, although similar is not related to jasmine at all. This beauty is one of the more natural, elegant white florals that performs beautifully as a perfume.

Beautiful jasmine bush in the evening, when the flowers are at their peak. There is no sweetness here, other than the one of the jasmine scent itself. No mocking around with peach, orange blossoms, sandalwood and whatever many perfumers do when composing jasmine-based fragrances, reducing them to some franken-jasmine of cloying sweetness. It's quite linear. The opening has some green banana notes that disappear with time to leave a softer cacao note, but overall the scent remains the same. Jasmine in its perfection.

You enter in a flower shop that sells only Jasmine plants. Only. They are in bloom, in the slightly stuffy, lightly woody scented shop. It's afternoon and the flowers are just exuding their exhilarating, heady, green-ish scent. Green floral in the most pleasant way possible. Jasmine with heavenly chocolatey undertones (!) .... I want to eat this! You know when you come across perfection? Well folks, this is it. ABSOLUTELY. SHOCKINGLY. DIVINE. JASMINE. Enough said, run to get a bottle now!

Well Michel has really cracked the wonderful intense fragrance of stephanotis. A beautiful white floral but it never gets cloying because it has stemmy green notes to add that freshness. It makes it so wearable. For me a beautiful scent to wear on a summer evening. It makes me think of the beautiful rich fragrances of night blooming flowers that attract the moths. A good sillage and moderate longevity.

Beautiful photorealistic jasmine scent. It's got a slight green/dewiness to it; to me, it smells like brushing past a jasmine bush in bloom after a spring rain. Linear and uncomplicated. Great for jasmine lovers. Feminine and best suited to daytime. Good performance.

Almost photorealistic jasmine... Surreal although it has a tad of a synthetic aroma chemical feeling in the opening maybe detectable 30 seconds past but then it gets itself back together again... Absolutely gorgeous and one of the best in the category by far...

my mom just plucked a fully bloomed angelwing jasmine from her garden and brought it inside today. it smells exactly like this. beautiful and a a touch green. not overly narcotic or indolic. just a beautiful soapy-sweet angelwing jasmine. :)

If you love jasmine this should be at the top of your list to try. As pointed out it’s a very realistic slightly green jasmine. I don’t think of it as a fruity scent. The mango probably just mingles with the green notes perfectly.

Gorgeous scent. This is STEPHANOTIS. Which is actually not a jasmine. Lovely sweet tropical white floral hypnotic scent. The fragrance of this perfume reminds me of a cross between a sweet Daphne bush and a Viburnum. beautiful.

Stunning Jasmine! Wow, what a beauty, this is the perfect Jasmine soliflore, captures the true flower in bloom, fresh and alive. Highly recommend to Jasmine lovers.

A big ol stinky whiff of jasmine. 10/10 no notes.

(Second sniff) If the intent is to capture the natural smell of stephanotis (which is also a potted plant with big thick white flowers) I think the goal has been reached, this smell fat white flowers and lymph, cut leaves. Stephanotis is callad Jasmine of Madagascar, but I think the smell is yes similar to a jasmine but is also very close to Gardenia and Thiare (Monoi). A middle way between the three. This perfume is sugary but also cold in some aspects. Even if the risk is to be similar at some soliflower deodorant of the 80s here this does not occur. Here you have just a pure imitation of a fresh flower. I appreciate a lot. Easy to wear. When you smell a gardenia or a jasmine, or any other nice flower, you say "ah I'd like to smell like that all day long". Now you can. It is said that the Stephanotis was the favorite flower of Marilyn Monroe. I love this creation. Romantic, nostalgic. (Remember me a bit a soft soft version of Tiaré by L'Erbolario, it has also a light trace of jour d'hermes on the base notes)

I was not a bougie enough bride to afford a stephanotis bouquet even though they were definitely the in thing in the aughts; so unfortunately I don't have first hand experience with the smell of the flower. This has a fresh, green, "headspace" blossom feel to it...so I trust all those that have RL experience with the blossoms in that it smells authentic to the flower (again, DIFFERENT from sambac et; please stop downvoting it if you didn't read the description before you sampled) It also has impressive longevity on me for this type of floral. That all aside, I get a definite strong "soapy" element in this that is too piercing for me to love it. Definitely only a like and I'm glad I sampled first.

MY PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER USED TO HAVE A JASMINE BUSH IN HER GARDEN. THIS PERFUME SMELLS EXACTLY LIKE THAT BUSH. IT IS THE MOST PHOTOREALISTIC JASMINE FLORAL SCENT I HAVE EVER TRIED. IT PERFECTLY CAPTURES THE MOMENT WHEN THE PLANT IS IN FULL BLOOM, JUST BEFORE THE MOMENT THE BLOOMS START TO DECAY. SO INTOXICATING AND DEEP. THE ONLY DISADVANTAGE IS THAT IT DISAPPEARS SO QUICKLY FROM MY SKIN, AFTER 30-40 MINUTES I CAN ONLY DETECT IT BY PUTTING MY NOSE ON MY SKIN...

to me, this doesn't hit the jasmine note perfectly. The flower itself is fine, but not at all reminiscent of pressing your face into a dewy jasmine vine, which I would know since I do frequently!! The green note is just not there for me. This has been talked about as being one of the more realistic jasmine scents, but I'm still hoping for something better. still a very beautiful smell for all white floral lovers!!

Got a decant from scent bird,,,it’s lovely but it’s not all that. It has a cardboard note that keeps popping up to me. Glad I only got a decant and not sure I will wear this a whole lot. 🙁I guess I like my white florals with an addition of vanilla. Love tuberose reigns supreme for me.💯 I will spend more time with it tho😉

LOVE this realistic jasmine scent, but it just doesn't last on my skin! Maybe 3 hours max even on a day at home when I'm not really busy. For the price it's not worth it in my opinion. I'll keep searching...

Definitely a green and soapy white floral. It’s not harsh at all. Very cold scent, so probably best in the heat of summer.

In that way, yes it may smell more like an actual jasmine vine? But the green was the prominent note for me and sadly I’m back to the drawing board.

bought this as a sample bc i'm searching for a good jasmine perfume, i'm unfortunately not a fan of me it on me but don't think it could be that bad on someone else, but as it dries smells almost soapy and old-fashioned. i like the jasmine note in the beginning tho

it is such an acquired smell i wouldnt recommend a blind purchase...if you dont know what each note equates to i would just describe this as a much older scent. almost powdery

OH MY GOSH! I sampled it yesterday and my eyes widened to a state of surprise and SHOCK at how BEAUTIFUL it was! Not just beautiful... but SUPER PHOTOREALISTIC! In much the same way as En Passant, this fragrance captures the true delicate nature of a true-to-life blossom yet recreates every subtle nuance and intricacy a true botanical has: a heart, a stamen, the veining of a petal... EVERYTHING! This is a true heart stopper for the avid photorealistic floral collector! And it puts you in the same intoxicating trance of being enraptured by the natural world around you, that calming release from our life's intensities. That is truly the art of recreating the hand of God... Sorry to get so passionate... I just LL😍VVE photorealism and how it brings to life that in-the-moment-presence of nature! This is why I can't stop sampling! I feel like I'm on an expedition to find the most beautiful botanicals and I can't wait to see what I'll discover next!

It’s exactly like standing in a garden of jasmine. All the other notes add depth and magically combine to give a totally realistic impression of fresh jasmine, leaves and all. It’s right up there with my favorite fragrances. It’s not the budget-busting A La nuit but it’s the next best jasmine scent that I’ve had the pleasure to try. It’s much greener and less indolic than Rogue Perfumery’s Jasmin Antique. I prefer it, which is saying a lot. If you are a jasmine aficionado, Madigascan Jasmine Grandiflora belongs on your shelf.

Made a trip to Scent Bar in LA just to smell this because of its limited distribution. This is a bright tropical fresh floral! A photo realistic jasmine grandiflorum flower without the over-ripe fruit tones of jasmine sambac. Pure, fresh, clean, & radiant with lemony facets even though no citrus ingredients were used in its composition. It stays gorgeously floral without getting soapy like some jasmine fragrances. Never gets scratchy or harsh, stays smooth. This is a great soliflore. 3 sprays on my arm & I got huge to medium projection for the first 90 mins before it became a skin scent.

This is blended strangely to me. Sometimes I get a big bouquet of a dewy white flowers with somewhat of a synthetic green angle and other times it's bananas and mangoes in a cloying way. It does not hit the spot for a green jasmine that I have been desiring for so long, but still an ok scent. Wish this had a stronger green backbone with maybe some super rindy limes and another type of jasmine alongside Stephanotis. Kinda smells like being in a flower shop with ultra bright studio lighting shining on you.

Growing up in California, jasmine bushes are present and just a normal part of the Flora around suburban areas. When the winds pick up and they’re in full bloom, it’s a lovely aroma surrounding the air. It’s sweet, natural, floral. Real jasmine is such a treat and I get those same aromas with this fragrance. It’s a very accurate, natural, true to the real thing scent with slight green notes and a fresh aroma. It’s a love for me and for floral lovers. You have to love natural, raw, floral notes.

This is an early bloom, a young sprig of green, astringent Jasmine. Jasmine fragrances are commonly indolic, rich and almost “oily’. If you dislike heady, full bodied jasmine you may enjoy this. Its a well crafted, elegant soliflore that may win a few new hearts with a unique fresh approach to the scent. Perhaps best appreciated in a stifling summer, when a heady, heavy, indolic Jasmine would be cloying and overdone.

Interesting green take on a Jasmine soliflore. A spare composition, with jasmine front and center and the other notes just barely there in the background. I keep getting a whiff of something that is like butane, or permanent marker, but ALSO like the smell of whipped frosting from a grocery store sheet cake. Not quite moth-ball-y but headed in that direction. I like it!

I really didn't like this. It smell like a slightly smoother and more expensive version of Al rehab's Full. Like? I'm getting pure heady narcissus or lily, but not jasmine. It's giving grandma, and I'm a lover of grandma perfumes. I feel like if I smelled hard enough I could detect a mothball note

For me, it's a bettered version of A la Nuit. Without the sourness and that synthetic and plastic note that prevented me from loving it. It's a photorealistic, slightly sugary jasmine with all the greenery of the bush. Lovely.

The most photo realistic jasmine I’ve ever tried, foliage and all. Longevity is good, the test spray on my hand lasted for 8 hours. Couldn’t resist getting a full bottle.

One of the truest smelling jasmine flower fragrances I've smelled. Period. A must try for true jasmine floral lovers.
