Across the Ocean

On a cool windy evening the woods felt incredibly smooth. The citrus top shimmered and then gently melted into rose and tonka. Hours later it became a cozy vanilla aura. Amazing for cold nights.

I tested on paper, and this is too feminine to be considered a unisex fragrance. There is a strong berry sweetness, and also an underlying mature base scent. This might be a good selection if you want a mature lady like version of some young popular sweet fragrance.

a perfectly nice semi-sweet, versatile scent. A big problem for me was that it does not project at all. There are plenty of other “friendly”, any-season scents that have more oomph.

i received this as a decant some time ago––it came to me as part of a performance art piece that the artist asked her audience to scent themselves with to add to the experience. on my skin, across the ocean is beautiful: sweet and juicy at first, grounded perfectly by the full-bodied oud. it's fresher than any oud fragrance i've ever smelled, cleaner, too. before smelling this, white and dark ouds were only abstract concepts. this is the epitome of a white oud. on the dry-down, though, this perfume turns into something completely different; the sweetness slips away to reveal a salty, oudy, still ever-so-slightly vanillic delight! this fragrance is so, totally cosy, great for any day or night with a bit of chill in the air. i disagree with the reviewer who called this "mature," though. across the ocean is complex, certainly, but it has a youthful sort of joie de vivre to it. it's invigorating, exciting, and active. can't wait to get my hands on a full bottle!

This fragrance makes me think of long journeys across the ocean, watching the horizon blur into the sky. The citrus opening is bright and invigorating, like sunlight sparkling on water, while the warm woody base grounds it beautifully. Across the Ocean is elegant, slightly melancholic, and deeply comforting – perfect for days when you crave something that feels both refreshing and warm.
