Hazel

This is a really interesting fragrance that would make for a great signature, as you would smell very unique - for a little while. Like most of the Gravel line, the performance just isn't there. There's this subtle underlying jalapeno/pimento note that really works. If Gravel can find a way to keep these scent profiles and improve the performance, they would have a really great lineup.

Fig leaf, iris and a small touch of citrous with a background of musk. Unisex, it is more an iris scent than nutty (hazel). Modern, very unique. Why this name? This formulation was created by GRAVEL founder Michael Knudsen for Hazel Guggenheim, who helped him realize his vision of a perfume brand. It is simple!

Good quality scent with natural-smelling ingredients. I purchased a sample because I was looking for a nice fig leaf scent, but this is not it because the fig leaf plays a small role. After the citrus opening, I get a lot of ylang, jasmin, and what I guess is tolu balsam. This scent leans feminine and classic. People who like old-school Guerlain should give it a try. Not for me.

the opening of this scent felt super cloying and heavy. something about the florals was funky and i didn’t get much greenness. it lasts forever though and on the late drydown i got more of the hazelnut vibe other reviews mention and i enjoyed that! but the majority of the time this scent just felt like a bit much for me.

This fragrance makes me think of early winter evenings spent by the fireplace, wrapped in a soft blanket with a cup of hazelnut coffee in hand. There is a gentle sweetness in Hazel that is so comforting, balanced by woody undertones that keep it refined. It’s like wearing a scent that whispers warmth and intimacy.
