Cabochard Chérie

First test review, may add to this as time goes on... I just received as a blind buy and couldn’t wait to test this. It’s one I’ve looked over for some time but finally decided to get. I was concerned if it might end up being too Vintage smelling for me... it’s definitely not that. At first spray I was in love, I didn’t find it very strong initially so I oversprayed a bit. At first I felt this is not close to anything I own, very chic, fresh and lightly sweet, a lovely mix hard to distinguish at first separate notes all blended, then I get the bergamot, pear, narcissus and light sweetness, it’s warm late spring/summery day and it feels so very uplifting it really boosted my mood 😀, as it developed a little if feels cosy and comforting and really delicious but getting sweeter. I hit the love on this page immediately! But... I have to say it has really adapted over 1/2 hour quite a bit now... it quickly became very patchouli heavy on my skin and also praline forward, it very quickly then seemed more caramel scented and 100% reminiscent of Orissima to my nose! The patchouli caramel and orange blossom are there but I’m not getting leather at all. I’m not mad about it as I do love orissima but it’s a real shame because I was expecting something different ... and now I feel it is getting sweeter and sweeter very quickly like sweeties and patchouli only and slightly overpowering and yes I get what a below review says... a teeny bit nauseating... so now for me it is not chic anymore in the way I felt initially / or in the way of lovely Orissima. I’m sad I’ve lost the fresh citrus, can’t find basil or narcissus orange blossom anymore at all... I have left it as a love for now, but maybe need to experiment with this a little more. My nose is a bit confused what has happened right now in such a short time 😂! Maybe it’s the warm weather or lotion I have on my skin, definitely going to try this in other circumstances . Right now I have a real itch to add something to it though... to bring back more balance to it.

This fragrance and its bottle are literally the embodiment of French charm. The beautiful bottle made of heavy glass, the beautiful bow and the lid could not be more French. The scent itself is sweet chypre, sweet pears, bergamot, freesia, daffodils, pralines, leather notes and good amount of patchouli. I also smell quite a strong incense there, although it is not mentioned in the composition. Modern yet vintage. This is the scent of a young Parisian woman who lives in an historical apartment with high ceilings, has artistic friends, goes to chanson clubs in the evenings and is terribly chic. I have read this fragrance compared to Miss Dior Chérie, but the similarity is minimal. This fragrance is much more original and captivating. Edit 06/16/2024: Surprisingly delicious in the summer heat. I don't even know how I thought of trying this perfume on my wrist in the hot summer. I originally classified it as a spring perfume, more suited to the cooler spring. I had the spontaneous idea to try it in the heat and to my surprise, it unfolded as beautifully as never before. I've found with a number of winter-heavy perfumes that they work surprisingly well on me in the summer and even better than they do in the winter. I'll probably start testing more winter fragrances in the upcoming hot season.

After smelling this for the first time, I thought it went wrong and badly! I really couldn’t comprehend what they has been sought with this? and to whom is this being marketed? I allready had orginal Cabochard and this was soo far away... I couldn’t have guessed that one day I would consider back up on this. 😝 I'm probably the wrong person to recommend this, my taste may be a little "on the edge", and someone else can smell this completely different, but... For me this opens with a cool, almost cold herb note with a natural pear. That pear quickly turns to like emaciated champagne when that "on praline drowned Cabochard" attacks the rings. The scent dries into a very playdough, waxy praline with cleanliness Cabochard and fluffy pear champagne. This stay near to skin, but leave trail and the longevity is just great! I think that this is easy to use, office friendly and unique, but not necessarily a compliment collector. I love it.

Finally decided to buy this as I had my eye on it for about 2 years. All I can say is that this is a wonderful fragrance, so elegant and feminine. Gres is a wonderful perfume house that should get more love, their perfumes are outstanding for the price you pay for them. I would say that Cherie is similar to Christelle Eau Verte but with more florals. I think this fragrance would be wonderful in spring and summer but you could wear it at any time of the year. Edit: I have now used up most of my 100ml fragrance and I still love it! I have literally used this every day for a month and am going to be buying a new bottle very soon. I agree totally with the reviewer above mine. It is french sophistication, signature scent worthy and the bottle is just gorgeous too!

Okay so... yes I love it! But also... I was surprised to love it because the original Cambochard is soo different. The one thing they do have in common though is the orchestral symbiosis within their notes. This has better lasting power and sillage, but even then I had to spray the hell out of it (I used it on my fake flowers). I think I’ll be getting this and the original formulation again. My Mum, who is my second nose (birthing somehow gave her the nose of bloodhound) has commented on how dated my recent purchases have been. But I like this. I like lasting power and staying power, that has to do more with quality than technology... That said, this really is the ‘ féminin ultime’ when it comes to perfume. Hm... I think I like Gres.

Cabochard Cherie.....IMO....is a touch of Cabochard EDT.....Coco Madmoiselle....Miss Dior Cherie...and, yeah, Valentino Donna also. The original Cabochard is one of my favorites of all time....so this flanker was a no brainer for me..lol. This does not directly smell like any of them...but the "vibes of" are there inter-twining. A modern chypre type scent,which has some greeness. I do get the narcissus...pear...orange blossom...but not prominently. This was an instant like at first sniff....and it goes thru subtle changes while on the skin. A leathery vibe comes thru in the dry down...but it is smooth leather and more subtle than in original Cabochard. Easy to like and also performs rather well so far.

It's honestly the cousin of Chanel Cristalle Eau Verte and Mademoiselle and I LOVE it! Its feminine with a musky base, so good, so addicting, so pink and green. As I smell it more, at first it has an ever so slight medicinal undertone, but it doesn't bother me! It is not a 'mature' or 'dated' scent. I have ordered a sample and I now HAVE to have to whole bottle. However, I remember that I used to hate Cristalle Eau Verte (Chanel) when I was in my 20s, it smelled like grass to my untrained nose, and this is pretty much a dupe of that, so I recommend buying a sample first. It's a 9/10 for me, one of those fragrances you'd never get enough of. Perfect for summer, luxurious scent.

This is the perfume that I hesitate to wear for everyday occasions as going to university or or to the shop. This is the one I reach to with events hosted at night, dates and parties, worn with red lipstick and a long black dress. It is no wisp, whatever the name chérie suggests, she blends beautifully in colder months especially delicious with rain, or a room full of smoke. She has a mature seriousness, complicated and ballanced - I think letting her sit in the dark closet would make it even more complex and warm. The cabochard perfume for me, nothing like cabochard gres which smelled like a loud tobacco and male sweat mess.

Now THIS is office siren. She wears a black lace bra under her silk blouse. LVEB wishes she was her. She’s got a feud with Miss Dior at reception but we all know who’s the winner. She’s related to Chance Eau Tendre but dirtier—she’ll make out with you in the back of your car after happy hour. The bottle is beautiful, a pleasure to hold, nice and heavy smooth glass and a little bow. The lasting power and projection put pricier perfumes to shame. It’s complicated and beautifully blended, narcissus, leather and praline being the standout notes for me. I don’t own anything else quite like it and I’ll be reaching for it often.

I think this perfume is interesting because of the chocolate note. It's not a modern praline, it's not sweet and gourmandy it's a very herbal leathery chocolate. In the beginning it does give of cabochard vibes (I hate the original cabochard) then when it dries down I just smell leather and chocolate. I am letting it macerate because my tester smelled much more chocolatey and warm and cozy while the full new bottle I bought doesn't yet. EDIT After a couple of months in the closet I love this! An herbal leathery chocolate is the best way I can describe it. I think it works for any season.

This is stunning, I am so glad I got it. Cabochard leathery goodness but in a lovely sparkly summery cocktail with a surprisingly bright and upbeat punch of patchouli - which I love and find very feminine here - and then light, sweet top notes layered over it: I think I get the orange blossom and the praline more than the pear, it is definitely super sweet and fluffy against that beautiful Cabochard leather. It's like a pink girly summer take on one of my spicy favourites and, as someone who totally fails at summery girly perfumes, I am totally HERE FOR THIS.

I love this! One of my comfortable first choices on an unremarkable day. I find the bergamot to be appropriately understated for a "girly" scent (I'm a musk, leather, Arabian or Paloma Picasso kind of character). The basil is just enough to give this a unique and likeable character and the flowers and praline round it out into a warm fuzzy pink dumb reach for me. It goes into the ambroxan type emotional impact catagory without a noticable note of ambroxan. I just wish it had more staying power. Just ordered a backup so I can spray away.

No expectations. I came into this having no expectations and this one surprised me. Its perfectly weighted, not too light or too heavy. The echo of Cabochards base of leather, patch bitterness contrasts off the sour bergamot/praline note. The freesia/jasmine florals are bright and add interest. I think its a great release for the brand. This is not the heavy banal fruitchouli or syrupy suffocating gourmand. The bottle is beautiful and just wish they used a grey bow as a nod to the past.

This was not an instant love for me; this is something I had to sit with for a few hours, re-read the notes and come on here and read others’ reviews. I was previously purely a gourmand gal but my tastes are leaning more to more interesting scents than just sweetness. Someone further down wrote that this perfume is the office siren wearing a white silk shirt with a black bra underneath. To me, that description is this perfect for this fragrance!

This might be a perfume that smells better as it ages (no vanilla, but can patchouli age?), either that or it's just grown on me more and more. I find Cherie unique, it deserves more attention from perfume lovers. Gorgeous bottle and small price, and blows many more expensive perfumes out of the water. If Prada or Dior bottled it, I wonder what people would think! But I guess for now I'll just be happy with my stinky little secret 💚

This is such a beautiful scent. It has an almost old fashioned amount of patchouli, but when mixed with the pear and praline, gives a dewy morning rose scent that I adore. This reminds me of 212 Sexy by Carolina Herrera. The notes are different, but that warmth and old fashioned floral feel is there and I am living for it at the moment.

She's definitely related to Cabochard, I'd call it an entry-level leather. Cherie is sweeter and more floral, & therefore more modern--but not too trendy. I think vintage lovers will like this, but don't expect it to be as dry as Cabochard. It layers beautifully with Cabochard edt or edp.

Cabochard Cherie on this 82F day is a slightly fruity, sweet leather and patchouli. Divine! So beautiful. A worthy flanker of original Cabochard which is one of my favorite perfumes. Gorgeous with great longevity. Good signature scent. The value is unbelievable.

Other than its name, there is little in this frag that resembles the original Cabochard. I would cast the original scent out of your mind entirely and judge this one as a completely distinct scent profile. You might find the opening to be discordant at first as I did. I was disappointed upon first spray, as the praline and basil (?) battled it out on my skin. I like strong leather scents, but found it to be all but missing. I was ready to give this a very mediocre rating. However... I've paid close attention to its progression so I could review it fairly. The wonky, unsettled notes at the beginning mature beautifully and settle into a nice blended composition. Though I have a practiced nose, I have trouble picking out specific notes as they are that enmeshed with each other. The best I can describe it is a full-bodied, grounded, floral with a hint of (pear/basil/bergamot) freshness. The patchouli is there, but it isn't dirty or overpowering. While Cabochard Cherie isn't groundbreaking, it is unique in a subtler way; I constantly sniff my wrists and clothes just to enjoy its sophisticated evolution as it dries down. I feel good wearing it. Longevity is good. Sillage is moderate--not intimate, but not a "room broom" either. I wear truly unisex scents, and definitely think this is feminine; do not, however, expect a sugary, syrupy-sweet gourmand. I strongly like, but not quite love, this one. Overall rating is 7.5/10 Edit: While I strongly disagreed at first, I can see the resemblance to Miss Dior (I just finished my bottle of that one) after a few hours of settling onto the skin. However, I like this one a bit better.

It's nice. Not overly sweet by my standards, more floral and a bit spicy. Light. Performance is not that great. Very pleasant but not special. I have been very impressed by Gres perfumes. I find it interesting that this is a fairly new one, not vintage, and maybe that's why I'm not overly impressed by it. It smells too ... common. That said, It does smell pretty. I don't mind wearing it, but probably won't repurchase, although this does get nicer the longer it's on. NOTE- there is NO chocolate in this perfume. The praline is more of a pecan/ burnt sugar/caramel/ note. THAT is what a praline is - a sugary confection made with nuts, milk and sugar--not chocolate. In perfume it's a rich, nutty note. People have unbelievable imaginations, raving about chocolate that's not even there! There is no vanilla either. It's not gourmand at all. That nutty note in the base is very well blended, a whisper on my skin and soft on my clothes. That part of the perfume is very subtle and nicely thoughtfully executed.

In this fragrance the praline is rather prominent, yet the flowery aroma and the earthier quality of both the patchouli and the basil, that essentially paves the way towards the more definitive features of this perfume, offer it just the right heft for it not to fall into excessive sweetness. It does smell vintage, but it is not cloying at all in my opinion and the overt, thick sweetness mixes well with earthiness and the very present waves of floral notes, and these little tweaks are what make the whole ensemble be satisfyingly versatile. With all of that being said, the sweetness feels natural, and, while the general impression left from this fragrance is that it's a more diaphanous, bright sort of scent, it has the right weight to it, which I do appreciate in a perfume built upon this sort of chic aesthetic, as it is not shallow. It has a moderate longevity, but it holds well in warmer temperatures and I see it fit for those sorts of times more appropriately anyway.

I came across Cherie and was intrigued by how cute the bottle is, the name, and the price (£13!!!). I ordered it, and I was not expecting much due to the mixed reviews, but I am pleasantly surprised and glad I bought it. The very first 3 seconds remind me of Coco Mademoiselle, and then quickly it becomes much greener, and I can smell herbs. As it dries, the green notes mellow, and the sweet patchouli, freesia and praline start coming through, giving the perfume a much rounder quality. I can't smell any leather at all, but that is not a bad thing. The herby element is present and persistent, but delicate. This is not a gourmand perfume but it has a light and elegant sweetness: it is lovely, easy, and feminine. The bottle and bow are gorgeous; I can't believe I paid so little for it; this is incredible value for money. Safe blind buy. Gorgeous 🩷🍃🌷🍫 🎀

This has taken forever and a day to grow on me, as my initial thoughts since purchasing Cherie, was that it was weak and non descript. So I have only ever worn it on a few occasions when I am running an errand and I need an easy reach fragrance, because truth be told it seems to evaporate quite quickly on skin and/or I might be anosmic to it..So I only ever enjoy the opening which is big and the pear and praline comes through so nicely and then it starts playing around and behaves like a changeling. I:E one min I smell the notes and then the next this smells like another fragrance altogether. If you enjoy feminine fragrances that lean on leather, then check this one out. In the end, leather is not my favourite note and I decided that it's not my vibe, but I circled around it for months because I enjoyed the opening where the fragrance is both light and complex. However, the lightly sweetened and floral leather wins in the end and this is where we part. It is absurdly priced for the quality and lasts 6+ hours on me, which doesn't happen often. I can't comment about the similarities with more expensive designer fragrances, I think it has a presence of its own. The bottle and presentation are very nice.

I don't know what to think about this one. It's clearly feminine and it's a nice, and innofensive smell, kind of "neutral". If i spray it in the air, and smell it, it's sweet but not in an intense way, it's more subtle. I think it's the pear touch standing out. Subtle, sober, almost naive, but not racy. EDIT: Very faint, light, like pointed out, classic/vintage vibe i can't shake off. It's herbacious and i smell the pear too...But it's a faint mess, very forgettable indeed.

I’m really surprised there’s no rose in notes as the first blast is deffinitely strong rose-patchouli combination. When it settles down it smells like lovechild of Allure and Joy EdP intense, creamy and sweet citrusey, mossy, spicy vanilla mixture. Longevity and sillage is above the average and for its nearly ridiciously low price tag it’s a must have if you are into this kind of scent profile.

Just bought it, and smelling this on my clothes to me this is a citric-leather-y fragrance with a sprinkle of white flowers. On my skin is a leather and bergamot duet and that's it. Very pretty, inoffensive, office friendly. Its lasts on quite a while. It could be unisex. It's smells very similar to Burberry London 2009 Limited Edition who is discontinued.

Got it as a sample. It smells really sweet indeed, although kinda nauseating. I'd say it could be a good first perfume for a young girl.

Somebody refers Chabochard Cherie to be somewhat dupe for Miss Dior and Chanel Coco Mademoiselle...good joke. :) I had such high expectations..even funny to think of it. I am so happy I have got just 1,8 ml tester to try this "wonder perfume" out. What can I say? This is basic chypre cheapy that smells cheap too. Unfortunately... I remember times, when I was child .. like 35 years ago I was visiting apartment of my friend. Her mother had many bottles of fragrances that smelled...just like this one! It was many of of course really cheap fragrances of those times. It was very poor family that could afford hardly even any food (although in Russia it happens too often for to notice even level of poverty, 99% are poor). So..Cabochard Cheerie is that type of perfume that smells like cheap retro chypre. Here you get just flat eau de colognish patchouli and just a little bit of praline on the top. Nobody will happily notice that scent- it is so close to the skin and not for long, estim. 2 hours. IMHO classic Cabochard is much better and reminds Guerlain "Shalimar". But Cheerie, on my opinion has failed- it did not become sweeter, it did not become fruitier, did not become flowery. At least classic Cabochard has prominent leather- here there is no even that.

In spite of the efforts of the brand to rejuvenate themselves and win a younger audience for Cabochard, this new version must be considered a flop. It opens with fruity-floral notes of pear and jasmine. Then comes a slight touch of bitterness (the only phase when I am reminded of the classic Cabochard) , which I quite like. Unfortunately everything is ruined by a strong, coarse synthetic patchouli combined with a weird parliné-note and some faint hint of artificial leather. Not a nice combination at all. In my case, it is even headache-inducing. C. Chérie is a common fruitchouli (not a classic chypre!!!) - neither original nor capable of living up to its great mother, the fabulous Cabochard.

It's complicated. The opening made my head hurt, it's harsh smell of paper, chalk I don't know. Then when it get tone down which is after many hours (6-7), it become more sweet flower-leathery which i actually really really like. Tested on hand i actually like it after i wash it, the chalkiness go away and i get to the good part. Even after that will last like forever. I guess the only way to make this work is spray before shower😅. I hardly reach for perfumes that i don't get mesmerized by the first sniff and i have to wait so to explore. I need to explore all the way. I'm jealous for those that this work out.

There is absolutely no lemon here. I detect nothing of the basil either. What I do get though, is strawberry (freesia?), rose and some gourmand-y sweetness, which I assume the praline stands for. This, to me, without seeing the name or the notes, is a typical modern fruity slightly floral gourmand, stabilized by patchouli. Even calling it a fruitchuli is more correct than chypre. So, in that regard - I love it. I love the original as well, but they are not related in my book.

Too much cabochard and not enough cherie. Whatever fruits and flowers there may be are overpowered by the worst kind of patchouli, nauseating and headachy. It is foul. Very longlasting too.

The pear effect in Cabochard Cherie edp gives me the same problem I sometimes get from the 90s peach, where it feels like an unpleasant waxy layer on my skin, and the smell is a throat irritant. I'm still getting to know this perfume, and I will definitely try it multiple times before making up my mind. Today has been an overly busy day, and spraying this at the end of the day has not helped. But it could be well suited to other moods and seasons. Today is a humid, warm day. I will try again another day. :) Edit: A week later, and I'm trying Cabochard Cherie edp again. It's a cool and sunny, dry fall day. I do not see how this is a chypre-style perfume. The notes listed sound complex, but all I get is peach and praline. If I really use my imagination, yes, I can find a hint of pear that is then covered by praline. By "praline" I mean something sweet and somewhat rich, but it's not recognizable as anything specific. Sweet and rich is not a bad thing in itself, but here it's also not delicious. The other notes do not reveal themselves to me--basil, leather, even patchouli, are missing in action. The floral aspect of this perfume is to my nose vague and unsatisfying. It doesn't really have anything to do with Cabochard that I can decipher. Better luck to others, but for me it is out of place. Edit: I am getting more of the notes when sniffed from paper. I guess it really does not work on my skin. My skin turns this into a blunt praline freesia.

This indeed reminds me of Miss Dior Cherie and all its cousins. However for me this is far better than any of those. It starts of a bit fresh and herbal, I think it's the basil that does this. It has the basil note that jo malone lime basil mandarine has. Soon the sweetness comes through that you find in Miss Dior Cherie but it's still mixed with the basil freshness and a soft leather touch that reminds me of Chanel No. 19. I find most modern fruitchouli's quite sickening. When to much patchouli they smell like a heavily transpirating woman trying to cover up her smell with a fruity deodorant :) When to much fruit of praline or caramel it soon becomes way to candylike and suffocating. This one however stays in the middle. Very very classy. By the way it also has a touch of the Madame Gres which I love also. So sad this house is not acknowledged anymore. Gres was the same level as Chanel, but for some reasons completely downgraded nowadays, like Lalique, Boucheron and Van Cleef you could say. Sad....

Felizmente hoy he recibido mi tan esperado Cabochard Cherie EDP 3.4ozfl . Primeras Impresiones: En cuanto a la presentación del Perfume me ha dejado sin aliento la Caja es en color Rosa pero un Rosa antiguo con Bordes en Dorado , En la Caja viene impreso el sello de Gres en color Dorado. El frasco es de un vidrio de Calidad con varias facetas o caras , el tapón del frasco tiene impreso el sello de Gres y el atomizador es de muy buena calidad y viene rodeado en la base del cuello del frasco con el chongo en color Blanco Perla que le da un toque romántico combinado en gran armonia con el color del líquido del Perfume en color Rosa. Primeras impresiones al Atomizar las primeras notas que he percibido son dulces , florales , cuero , y como un sutil olor a menta. En el fondo siento un olor musgoso. Estoy muy feliz con mi compra a ciegas.

I misread CopenhagenBlue's review as "too much cardboard and not enough cherie." Turns out I agree more with that idea than "too much cabochard." Some would say, how can you possibly have too much Cabochard? ;) But again I'm trying with this one. Tant pis. Even though I am liking this scent a bit more this time around, I actually do get cardboard. Today where is the freesia? I want that freesia. Leather is there, praline is there, a ton of bergamot. Idk. The leather is sour, not seductive. Bergamot is waxy like wet cardboard in the back room at the grocery store. I am confused. Arg. For me it is missing something but it can be really nice mixed with something grittier.

I find this agreeable; the combination of leather, pear and praline, along with a slightly herbal (very slightly) tinge creates something novel and friendly. Patchouli is very light and blended nicely; as I've gotten to know this perfume, I realize it does not read as a fruitchouli, imo. It's still a little hard to think of her as a chypre, but I'm starting to get the picture. I will say, because of the maltol sweetness and the pear fruitiness, I do not like the effect when oversprayed. This summer, Cherie has been upgraded to a love! Surprise. :)

many rewiews describe this fragrance as unoffensive and summer friendly. I had so many high expectations due to those positive reviews but it's sadly too strong for me, too heavy and head ache enducing. Even by spraying the tiniest amount on my skin it just nauseates me. Can't even pick a single note in it from the ones that are listed, all I smell is smokyness and leather. So sad ....I wish I could love this fragrance. Sadly I hate it.

Not sure of this one refers the EDP or the EDT - I`ve got the EDP version. It is very strong, very sweet and powdery with strong presence of Chypre notes. Very similar to other sweet aromas on the market, not bad, but would not say it is very very unique unless you fancy the Chypre tones. Try before you buy and see how it fits your skin.

As a longtime lover of Cabochard, I was excited by the listed notes for Cherie. After reading the first few reviews I am wondering if my bottle has been tampered with..I find it pleasant, but in a very generic way, no link at all to the iconic original. Indifferent sillage & lasting power, I'm passing it on to my young Granddaughter.

Ahhhh this is everything I wanted it to be 💕 My top 10 easily and I've just got it. Definitely a little bit of Miss Dior and even LVEB but mixed with leathery original Cabochard. Ticks all the boxes for me: fruitchouli based on classic chypre. Earthy, sweet, flowery, strong and long lasting. Lots of leather, patchouli and praline.

This was my new year scent for 2020. Slels so worm and hommy. Remind me to cinemon apple. Just lovely. It's not gourmand, but it has a beet gourmand twist. Smells like holiday

The sweet praline is a stomach-turner if you're not into that sort of thing, but I find the drydown to be a pleasing, if not entirely synthetic, fruitchouli. Tenacious, too.

Lovely summer leder scent. Perfect for unique ladies with magnetic charisma and strong character, but still gentle and feminine. Chabosard for 21 century

light, airy, unoffensive... actually very pretty, but it just lacks personality or backbone and is so middle of the road thats its utterly forgettable.

Ohh a new fragrance from Gres! They make great perfumes and can always find them at a great price. I am loving the name and beautiful bottle! :)
