Cabotine Fleur Splendide

This is a very pretty, VERY sweet perfume. Its sillage is initially heavy (room filling). Longevity is moderate bordering long-lasting (on clothing), which is a pleasant surprise too, given it is an EDT. It has strong similarities to many current highly popular fragrances, such as Flowerbomb and La Vie Est Belle - and at a fraction of their price; it is outstandingly good value for money (and the bottle is pretty, too). Highly recommended for lovers of LVEB and FB who are on a budget. Now for the musings... I don't understand why the perfume houses produce perfumes which are SOOOOOOOO different and describe them as "flankers". This perfume, Fleur Splendide is a perfect example. I am not a fan of the original Cabotine. I tried to like it, I really did. Cabotine contains just about every note commonly used in perfumes. The list of ingredients is longer than my daughter's face when she realises she's missed the latest instalment of "Made in Chelsea". Fleur Splendide bears absolutely NO resemblance to the original Cabotine. The only notes in common are peach, freesia, jasmine, sandalwood, rose, musk and amber. Whilst that appears to be a long list, there are 27 listed notes in the original; Fleur Splendide has far more in common with many completely unrelated fragrances from different houses than it does with the original Cabotine. I haven't smelled any of Cabotine's other flankers, so can't comment on them - but I would put money on Fleur Splendide selling better if it wasn't labelled "Cabotine". I was put off buying or even trying it initially, because I find Cabotine so utterly repellent; reading reviews and comparisons on Fragrantica persuaded me to give it a chance. Some flankers are very clearly related to the original, so describing them as such makes perfect sense; I am thinking of TM Alien, Alien Absolue, Aqua Chic, Liqueur etc., which are perfect examples. The same applies to Lolita Lempicka (the original fragrance) and the almost endless list of her flankers. But Fleur Splendide and Cabotine? NO! On to my next musing: Why on earth has this been categorised as a "chypre floral"? It is very VERY similar to Flowerbomb (categorised as Oriental Floral) - closer, in my opinion, than it is to La Vie Est Belle (a Floral Fruity Gourmand). The consensus of opinion is that it closer to LVEB; whichever way you choose to jump, Fleur Splendide does not sit well with other chypre floral fragrances. I've scanned Fragrantica's database of chypre floral fragrances; a random selection of non-niche, department store perfumes include Clinique Aromatics Elixir, Gucci Gucci, Guerlain Shalimar Parfum Initial, and Yves Rocher Comme une Evidence. I've selected these as examples to use here as they are more likely to have been tested/smelled by a larger number of people than niche perfumes. My point is that should someone buy this and believe it to be typical of the chypre genre, they are going to be extremely confused if the next chypre floral fragrance they choose to try is Aromatics Elixir. I'll shut up now.

Beautiful, sweet floral with fantastic silliage with acceptable longevity for an EDT. More sweet than floral though, in my opinion. I usually get compliments when I wear Fleur Splendid and I love the way it smells on me as well. I’ve actually had a few women(strangers) ask me the name of it and a sales clerk wrote the name down and asked me where she could purchase it. However, one should know this smells nothing like the original Cabotine in the green bottle. Considering the low price, I don’t mind reapplying every few hours( when needed but lasts longer in warm weather). I have a little over 100 fragrances and I would definitely put this one in my Top 30 simply because I enjoy the smell❣️

I got a bit Cabotine obsessed and ended up with quite a few flankers (not sure flanker is the right word since they're all quite different from the original), this by far is my favourite, it's a sweet floral vanilla, for a edt it lasts and projects well. I like wearing this one to bed.

This perfume is gorgeous. I've already bought three bottles. To me, it smells like ambery, caramelized white flowers. Sweet but not too cloying, feminine but not a fruity bomb. Very well balanced. Such a nice perfume for so little money. Great deal!

I absolutely love this creamy gourmand scent. Yes it is sweet, not for very elegant wear, but perfect for a cozy evening and easy to wear for every day.

My introduction to the Cabotine de Gres line was with Cabotine EDP (the green one) which I blind-bought, disliked, and gave away. I decided not to try any other fragrances in this line because I assumed they were similar (too bold/loud/strong). I'm glad I gave Fleur Splendide a chance (also a blind-buy based on reviews and notes). I received Splendide within three days of ordering it and really like it. As others have mentioned, Splendide bears no resemblance to Cabotine. At all. It actually doesn't smell like what I thought it would, perhaps I was expecting something explosive, but this is a very good thing. I can see why several say it's a "floral chypre". It's not your typical chypre, but it's got the bergamot, patchouli, rose, fruity/floral thing going on. When it comes to longevity and sillage, it doesn't perform as well as Cabotine (which is monstrous). Not surprising as it's an EDT. I find that it performs a lot better on clothing. It doesn't seem to last as long on my wrists, but it's been 8 hours and I can still smell it on my top. It's got a soft, warm, beautiful, and pleasant dry-down, so that must be the amber. I typically don't like putting stronger fragrances on my neck or chest as they wafte into my face and can become annoying. I can easily apply this on my neck and not worry about potential headaches. It's sweet but not sickening or cloying. It's nowhere near as sweet as any of the fragrances I have from Aquolina that are very sugary, so if you own any of the Simply Sweet, Pink SUgar, Gold Sugar, you don't need to worry about Splendide being anywhere near that sweet. I don't see myself using this during the summer, so I'm enjoying it now and will use it in winter months. I prefer it for daytime wear but wouldn't hesitate to use it in the evening, just because it's inoffensive and just lovely. This was basically a safe blind-buy and I'm really happy with it. I don't know that it would be a repurchase just because I have other sweet scents that I prefer, but I am not opposed to trying others in the Gres line.

I am an unrepentant pushover for all Cabotine flankers with their gorgeous floral caps and will gladly pay the full retail price (gasp!) when Fleur Splendide finally reaches the U.S. market. The first metallic Cabotine cap - wow! Edit July 2013: I have it! An on-line retailer has 100ml bottles for under $25 USD. The metallic cap is a peachy-gold that shines beautifully, and the juice is a light peach. So far, so good... The juice is a bit of a disappointment -- it's a clone of Pink Sugar Sensuelle! Fine if you're a fan of PSS but I was hoping for something more. The peach notes are more of a carmelized peach, as if you've baked peach halves with some butter and brown sugar but the combination really strikes me as cotton candy. Not much development either; the drydown is more cotton candy with sandalwood. Sweet, gourmand but not really very interesting. Not floral and definitely NOT in the chypre range. Modest sillage and longevity. Buy it to add to your Cabotine flanker collection and enjoy the pretty bottle and cap but look elsewhere if your goal is to add a floral chypre stunner to your wardrobe.

I really enjoy this one and bought a backup. It is a great easy floral. It’s very pleasant for any situation, and on my skin, lasted all day and then some. I was surprised to not see vanilla in the notes because I do smell it in the dry down, which is quite creamy. It also layers well with other fragrances. I would say early spring through late summer is the best time for it, but could easily work year round if you live in warmer climates, the amber, patchouli and musk really give it a year round ability. I just tend to bring out my deeper fragrances in the fall. This is a safe blind buy in my opinion and available online for a very reasonable price, therefore, a win for me!

This one is pretty. I bought it along with original Cabotine EDP which was an instant and strong dislike, but this fragrance is completely different - sweet, floral, modern, and it has amazing strength considering it is an EDT. The packaging and bottle are very pretty. I agree with the others that this is in the same genre as LVEB and Flowerbomb, so any fan of those two will most definitely like this fragrance. That said, there is really nothing to dislike here, it's safe and inoffensive but not forgettable or boring - which is often what defines "safe" fragrances. The best Cabotine I have tried so far!

Very prominent amber--it actually reminds me of Bath and Body Works Sensual Amber which I loved years ago. I definitely also get the cocoa others have described. There is a soft-petal sweetness that eventually starts to show through, and harmonizes beautifully with the spicy-cocoa and amber warmth. I am loving this. It's definitely gotten too warm here now for it, but it will absolutely be a winter time scent for me--makes me want to put on a comfy sweater and hang out in front of a fire. Yum!

It's a good perfume wearing in a outside party or appetizer. This sillage can adapt in every place. A note: in a famous website for shipping packages and buying American stuff, the description of this product is: "grow the attraction". I don't know if this true or false, maybe in the future I will change the review, if someone notices this on me 👍

First of all, this is an Eau de Toilette. You can't expect silage and longevity as a perfume would. It's floral and it's very pleasant. Not too sharp, not too sweet either. The name is quite descriptive. It's a pleasant floral that can take you to the office, it's a safe choice.

It’s a curious perfume, really hard to describe. Like a nice (and strangely mouthwatering) combination of flowers, fruits, caramel & vanilla with a little alien woody pepper.

OOOH Fleur Splendide is a gorgeous vanilla, carmel-ish light fruity deliciousness!

This is weaker than a body mist. It smells ok, but it's incredibly light.

Gres should be ashamed; a mainstream sweet vanillic floral with some fruit mixed in; as mainstream mass market as you can get; the notes look like it would harken back to vintages, but it doesn't. The main note is vanilla with freesia, some bergamot, a hint of indistinct peach that could be any fruit, a little sandalwood, synthetic modern patchouli like in celeb scents and white musk. all the notes literally were gone from my skin in 20 minutes. I sprayed about 20 sprays. I shoved my arm in someone's nose and they said it smelled like some faint ashtray smell. bottle up for sale or swap if someone loves this.

For me, Fleur Splendide is very sweet, with a touch of depth from the sandalwood and patchouli. The opening on my skin is very similar to Flowerbomb, minus the deeper tea note (in fact, when I asked my Mom to smell this on me, her reaction was both "I've smelled that before" and "I don't like that at all." I love it, but she hates Flowerbomb on me). The bottle is lovely, and the shape is well-suited for an easy application. The cap is quite difficult to get off and replace, at first, but after a few uses it loosens up a bit. Fleur Splendide is well-blended. I can smell the peach most intensely, but it shows up (as weegee mentioned) as more of a caramelized peach, very sugary and sweet, and it doesn't stand alone so much as its sweetness is what's most detectable to my nose. Sandalwood is present in the same way, as well as sweet florals, though not quite as noticeable. Silage is fairly soft, but this is not quite a skin scent, projecting a few inches for about 3 hours before settling further. Longevity on me is several hours. The end stages on my skin aren't quite as sweet, with more of a woodsy, almost soapy dry-down at the very end. The scent's middle stage makes up the majority of its time on my skin, and weegee's mention of cotton candy and sandalwood is an apt description. Overall, I like it very much and would purchase again.

This is among the fragrances that its notes do not indicate what you are going to smell ... Why do I say this? You see the notes and you guess: a fruity opening (citrus-peach), a floral heart in a warm woody (Ammber-Sandalwood) background ... and yet ... when you apply it on skin ,what a great surprise!! A sweet-warm-candy-gourmet scent that is a pure pleasure! I thought that Sensuelle of the same Cabotine line was the only one scent of the series that was sensual-nutty flavored with almond blossom and warm woods .... the big surprise came with this year's edition fleur splendite .... what to say? Is this warm? is it sweet?Is it like candy? Is this so sensual and magical? Yes! this is all the above and much more ... Fans of Prada Candy and caramel flavors in general, now,comes a magical sweet fragrance that is sensual , balanced , beautiful and durable!It's name : Fleur Splendide :)

Most of the Cabotine flankers haven't really impressed me, and I am not sure Fleur Splendide will either...It is a gourmand, almost tropical in a way, juicy, the freesia is intense, it makes me think of an island scent, like Hawaii, I would swear I detect cocoa!? It is very very sweet, and yes in the vibe of Aquolina, definitely.. But with a hint of tropical floral, that Aquolina doesn't have..I prefer this one.. I can't see why it is defined as a chypre/floral!? I would say it is a tad too sweet for me, and isn't developing much really, but if you are looking for a very sweet scent with sweet flowers in it, and that doesn't smell synthetic, that would work... I prefer Moon Flower, it is more delicate, a nicer gourmand, not so overly sweet...

No maturation period before review-- bc this NIB tester bottle was purchased from Fragrance Net and freshly sprayed, the scent is smooth as perfume can be out of the box, but is very faint. Use: before bed or at home. Sprayed on skin and clothes. Result: no trace of the scent in clothing or skin merely 2 hrs in. Scent profile: generally, reminds me of Burbery Women but a very weak version without the leathery note. Also, this experience with strength and longevity reminds me of Lanvin's Eclat D'Arpege, which doesn't even last 10mins on me or maybe I am going noseblind to both super quickly? Idk. Takeaway: wait 3 months to see if the scent longevity and strength improves.

A gourmand-leaning fragrance that reads as vanilla-forward, even though vanilla isn’t listed in the notes. It opens as a standard floral, then settles into a soft, sweet vanilla base. It doesn’t particularly stand out or create a distinct atmosphere; it's just a floral-sweet perfume. That said, one of its strengths is its lightness. For this type of scent, it doesn't become cloying and is quite wearable. I’m generally not drawn to gourmands, but this one is... fine. Pleasant, easy, and unobtrusive, but not especially memorable. For a second I thought of Burberry Goddess, but it is really just because of the vanilla.

Peachy-sandalwoody, pleasant, but too sweet for me. Typical `in` perfume of nowadays, meaning sweet and gourmand - it reminds me a bit of La Vie Est Belle and Flowerbomb at the same time, although I find this one more sweet, not flowery. The longevity is quite good too, especially for a perf that was bought for a mere 18 euros..Maybe if I was a few years younger, I`d wear it, it`s quite girly and flirty.

To my nose, this is a fresh amber scented fragrance. Think CK Beauty with amber. I wouldn't say it's complex, sweet or gourmand. To me, gourmands will have you smelling like food or beverage (Pink Sugar, Fancy, Coffee Addict). This doesn't give that vibe for me. It's a nice errand running or lounge around house scent. You might like it if you're a CK or JLux fragrance fan.

I COULD DROWN IN THIS BEAUTIFUL SCENT I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Love at first spray!!! Very Gourmand indeed. If you don’t like Gourmands, stay away from this!!! It’s so beautifully sweet. This is a Summer, Early Fall Scent, it would never hold up to Winter Molecules at all. Creamy Marshmallow kind of scent. Just GORGEOUS to my nose. I’m totally in love.

Just got this perfume and I have to say I’m not the biggest fan. When I read the notes and the reviews on here I thought it would be something I would like, but it leaves this dusty smell behind that I can’t explain. It almost smells like an old perfume (which honestly might be case). I don’t smell anything sweet or floral about it.

Love regular Cabotine and the now sadly discontinued Cabotine Green Summer. This Fleur Splendide has nothing floral about it, it is cloyingly sweet and heavy, reminds me of cookies or baked sweets. Perhaps it's something a "tween" would like. Not my cup of tea, so off to the thrift store the bottle goes!

So many comments and votes for similarities with La Vie Est Belle and Flowerbomb... You people lost your mind?! Cabotine is so creamy and soft, it has nothing in common with the fruitchouli that LVEB &Co are. This is plain, multifaceted sandalwood scent. Really smooth and cozy.

To me this is 99% similar to Flowerbomb. It smells equally amazing in my opinion. If you can't afford to spend the money on Flowerbomb. I'd say this is a great alternative and worth the $30.

It does last really long on my skin even an edt. though, the scent is so cute, freshly soft-creamy gourmand on me. Im really surprise :) ..
