Cabotine Gold

Cabotine Gold immediately broke into my heart, unlike the original Cabotine that had to woo me insistently. Its vivid and dazzling notes have kidnapped my senses at the first sniff, perhaps thanks to the similarity with Coco Mademoiselle that I cherish. Without changing the bottle shape, but just the colour, Gold comes with a flask decorated with a golden floral motif. The well-known Cabotine cap is of bright champagne, and so is the juice inside. Well, I don’t know if Gold is allegedly a flanker of the original. Still, for sure, they share nothing, being Gold an excellent fragrance with a flowery oriental touch, nothing green, herbal, or too tuberous here. Gold caresses my skin with an explosion of boozy and sour tones. The pulpy mandarin orange of the top notes is uplifting and plays with the perfect touch of irreverent patchouli that doesn’t want to wait its turn and pushes hard. Then, a spicy and fruity accord soon joins that concoction, pink pepper crumbles over very ripe succulent melon, a tad fleeting. It is spicy, but in the right measure, with the gentleness of the pink peppercorn and not too much to kill other notes. The dark patchouli calms down as a sweeter, creamier accord elevates. The initial stage is fresh, fruity, and citrus, the fruit giving off a spring vibe. It is incredibly magnetic. A few minutes pass, and suddenly the voluptuous white floral aspect blooms; there is mellifluous jasmine that dances cheek to cheek with the Tiare flower while the biting pink peony watches the dance from the backstage. The aroma is not all too sweet, instead is soapy; the presence of the darkened base notes harmonized the overall bouquet. Here we have a middle stage full of blossoms. As the perfume continues to develop softened patchouli with warmer tones of amber grow, sweet and gold amber not akin to ambroxan or any other modern molecules, with a perfect earthy touch of dry vetiver; it takes a virile turn on the dry down because of vetiver. The more the perfume develops, the softer and more creamy it becomes, while still following in the footsteps of Coco Mademoiselle. Gold is more citrus though, perhaps with enhanced jasmine, and it tones the patchouli down; it isn’t so overwhelming that it drowns out everything else, though. The similarity between Gold and Coco does not make a clone of one another, yet puts the two fragrances in the same ballpark. Slightly resembles Coco Mademoiselle, but I wouldn’t call it a dupe. Gold warms with beautiful amber and becomes ever so lightly sweet and sour. I find Gold crisp, light, appealing, and sweetly understated. It has distinct layers; the scent changes over time and is unisex all the way. If a man wears it, it would be a sparkling, clean, masculine scent. Highly recommended for warm seasons like spring and summer, perhaps it could work on summer evenings and nights out. It is light, harmless, perfect to wear anywhere and anytime, whether in the office or in your free time. Underrated, cheap, but of excellent quality! Silage is decent here, it projects moderately, but is not a room-killer. If you like Coco Mademoiselle, and you’re looking for a softer and lighter version, this is for you. After being delighted by my blind buy of Gres Cabotine Vivide, my first of the Cabotine line, I did not hesitate another blind purchase on Gold. At less than $20 for 3.4 oz I figured no big loss if I hated it. I always thought I had expensive taste but apparently, and thankfully, When it comes to Gres Cabotine, that's not always the case. So far, I'm completely happy. I find the Gold, crisp, light, appealing, and sweetly understated. Sillage is light with a soft dry down and average longevity on me. I feel well put together and "complete" when I put on. It lifts my mood and makes me want to go out and meet people. I find it a cheery, bright, and upbeat frangrance but in a classic, clean, sophisticated way. I agree that it's well suited to warm Spring and Summer, sunshiny days. Gorgeous bottles is half my motivation for collecting, and I just adore the Cabotine's rosette themed bottles, and that there are SO MANY variations on the theme, allowing for an individually unique boquet of bottles on the shelves of adoring fans. The Gold bottle and rosette is just as sweet and lovely as the others. I'm getting enough enjoyment from my first 2 blind buys that today, I'm going for my 3rd, Floralie. I suspect Rose, and Rosalie, (the main character of a beloved childhood book) will follow the next time I allow myself such a treat.

My second blindbuy from Grés and thank God, not another confusing experience like Cabotine Gres! I agree with previous comments that it's very much like Coco Mademoiselle. But I definitely wouldn't call it a copycat/ cheap version of CM. It's very lovely and unique on its own and honestly I prefer this much more than CM. I get peppery hints at first, which I really like and then it turns into a softer floral scent with hints of melon. But it doesn't turn overwhelmingly fruity, very well-balanced. This would be a perfect fragrance for spring/summer but I don't mind using it at winter at all.

Wearing this for the second time, and again I have this nagging feeling. Why do I know this scent? Looking it up here, on Fragantica, gave me the answer: it has a lot in common with Coco mademoiselle. But.... not everything. This perfume is much more friendly than Cm, it stays closer to my skin, but is has the somewhat earthy base in common with Cm. Makes me feel calm and confident. Now the nagging feeling has gone, I am starting to like it more and more. But it has nothing to do with the green Cabotine (gold is my first Cabotine flanker).

Does it smell similar to Coco Mademoiselle? No. At least not to me. Actually, it reminds me of another (old) perfume which I can't pinpoint right now. I can smell alcohol in the top notes, but only for a few seconds, just until the scent settles down on my skin. To me it smells kinda festive, like New Year's Eve (of course, it might be the memories this perfume evokes, as it reminds me of another perfume). I love this cold sparkling scent! Yet another successful blind buy.

Beautiful, classy scent! Cabotine Gold is clean, crisp, and golden. The perfect blend of earthy patchouli and vetiver and crisp orange and pepper. The jasmine, tiare flower, and peony lend a graceful elegance. And you can't beat the price! A fantastic fragrance at a fantastic price. Great for day wear and weekend wear. Smells like a mimosa cocktail. Outperforms Modern Muse for a fraction of the price.

I just love this! Smells complex yet fresh- the citrus and metallic edge added to the florals make it a unisex scent. Reminds me very much of Quartz. I found my bottle at TJMaxx on clearance for only $10. Like all Gres perfumes, this is potent. Use sparingly and one bottle is a lifetime supply.

Lovely. Just wish it had more throw. It’s not a gourmand. Thank goodness!!! It has an aftershave vibe to it right when you put it on, but it becomes more feminine in the drydown

Shimmering, light, perfect for summer, sure it's lasting power isn't great but it really is gorgeous, quite expensive smelling and at this price one doesn't mind reapplying.

I find this one so interesting! As a Tendre poison lover, of course I grabbed the original Cabotine. I fell in love with these bottles and the affordable price point and was determined to collect them all! Some, I found disappointing but this one stood out to me as one of my favorites. So, I started to watch reviews on it and it wasn’t as well received by others as I found it. That’s ok. I never let that get to me and this was just as gourmands were really hitting their apex! I have many many fragrances so it’s been sitting on my shelf. I’m attempting to get some sort of organization going and just sprayed this. I immediately thought, “this smells a bit like coco mademoiselle or club de Nuit “ I never thought that originally, but I also did not own either of those scents at the time. I just knew I really liked this and find it very classy. I wouldn’t say it’s a dupe or anything but it definitely bears some similarities. I love it and it is so stinking affordable you just can’t go wrong!! It’s a bit white floral, soapy and musky. Absolutely gorgeous for spring! It does have some woody notes in the base, maybe a bit of vetiver, (yep,just checked) so if you’re not used to this and a bit of patchouli, you may not like it. It isn’t a girly fruity floral, this has a little bit more of a mature sophistication. It’s nowhere near as smooth as CM but a very well rounded fragrance at an amazing price point!

I broke one of my own rules and bought Cabotine Gold unsniffed, due to my general affection for Parfums Gres, and the scarcity of their limited edition perfumes in the U.S. Thank goodness it's a nice scent. Beautiful box and bottle! I have and love the original Cabotine and I've always found its bottle to be unique, colorful and beautiful. Cabotine Gold puts a sparkly champagne-colored spin on that same packaging. Very elegant. I had no idea what to expect of this scent just by looking at the notes. I've sprayed it on twice today and I'm pleased to report that it's a soft oriental floral along the lines of Coco Mademoiselle, Flowerbomb or Black Amethyst. (Not a smell-alike by any means, but fans of any of those scents will likely enjoy Cabotine Gold.) Gres seems to be following the general perfume industry trend toward softer, quieter scents. I recently tested their Cabotine Moon Flower and found it a gentle, close-to-the-skin cozy scent. Same thing with Cabotine Gold. It lasts about 5 hours, close to the skin, and needed a re-touch this afternoon to get through the workday. Very pretty overall. Might be better-served by warmer weather, as it's not quite strong enough for a chilly December night in Nebraska.

To my nose, Cabotine Gold is a nice, dry, vetiver-rich white floral. I can see (smell) very well why comparisons to Coco Mademoiselle and So Elixir would arise, but this is drier than both and I smell more gardenia. Vetiver is really the foundation of this frag, however, and is the strongest note by far. It isn't so overpowering that it drowns out everything else, though, and while Cabotine Gold is drier and colder than many other florals, it is well blended and pleasant to wear. I also detect a resemblance to Bath & Body Works's Black Amethyst (another vetiver-rich scent), but again Gold is the drier and cooler of the two. Silage is decent here, it projects moderately but is not a room-killer. As for longevity, I'll need to come back and write a more detailed review when I've had a chance to wear this a few times. The bottle is worth mention here as well; for collectors, the addition of a Cabotine scent may be worth the price for the bottle alone. At $15 for 3.4 oz, Cabotine Gold was very much a worthwhile (blind, based on reviews seen here) buy! I would purchase again!

White Gold... crisp , clean, very much like Coco Mademoiselle, which I simply love. It is a fresh and lighter take on the original though all they have in common is the greeness of the fume. It does start off citrusy like Quartz, the fruit giving off a spring vibe. The peppery note is lovely and gives this light floriental a twist. I detect very little amber and even less patchouli on me yet, can smell it from the nozzle. It is a light but persistent frag that would be perfect for warm days , school or office. Great longevity on me but little projection. It is a soother of sorts, perfect for when I am stressed out. Someone mentionned So Elexir from Yves Rocher and indeed, it does resemble it! Another great fragrance from Gres... this one resembles Cabochard the most, in my humble opinion. Yes, some may find it masculine since it is vetevier laden. Yet, to me it is all woman: yin yang as someone said. A very zesty-light floriental yin! I strongly suggest if you like O de Lancome!

Silage is very good at the beginning and I do not think staying power is worse than most fragrances out there. The name seems to be very well thought, because I can easily associate this scent to gold, I do not know why. It is quite spicy, but in the right measure, not too muich to kill the scent, although I do not identify the semi-floral scent of pink pepper as such. It does also have a dual feel, because contrasting to the spiciness, there is the juicy bright sweetness of the fruits, mostly melon, and the round fullness of the white flowers. I find the scent quite pleasant and somehow a bit addictive, it has got something, although not a strong character, I mean, it is nothing remarkable or unique. But I do like it. It is not very feminine, but I would not say it smells masculine, beacuase of the sweet round juicy side. The only thing, and although I do not find it weaker than average, I wish it were stronger, much stronger, actually.

I never would have thought of Coco Mlle if I hadn't read this, but now that I smell it again, it does bear an uncanny resemblance. Gold has distinct layers, which can be good and bad. It's good because it's fun to observe the scent change over time. It's bad because I like the opening much more than the drydown! The fragrance bursts with a clean, sweet citrus opening. I suspect it's the melon combining with the orange that keeps this perfume from becoming zesty or sour, which I would greatly dislike. Gold does seem to fit the oriental category because there is a certain spiciness in it--I don't exactly smell pepper on it's own, but I'm sure it provides the "spiciness" I'm talking about. The drydown is more masculine than I would like because the vetiver and spice become stronger. Still, I like this fragrance for the price I paid. I think I might even like it more than the original Cabotine.

I had to delete my previous review because believe it or not, this perfume really grew on me. I guess spraying it on my hand didn't reveal any of its personality and somewhat distorted it. The price was great, the bottle looked beautiful, so I grabbed a large bottle for further experimentation at home. And to my surprise and amazement, when I sprayed it on my neck and wrists, I really liked this warm and transparent oriental. I think what i love the most about it is the melon note. It is light enough to wear during warm weather while most of the orientals in my collection are predominantly for colder days. A nice casual fragrance to spice up your wardrobe. The projection is outrageous which is my cup of tea when it comes to perfumes. I can't smell any similarities with Coco Madmoiselle though. Rather something like Cerutti 1881 if you take away the fizzy and spicy notes.

First of all, I am a HUGE fan of Gres perfumes. Somehow they have completely pegged my particular tastes in all their perfumes that I've tried so far, capturing it in all different facets. Cabotine Gold is one of the latest additions to my perfume collection from Gres, and I am not at all disappointed. Cabotine Gold is absolutely lovely. It simply makes me happy -- an olfactory burst of joy with every spray. It has a slighty hint of citrus at first, but settles down to a harmonious blend of gold notes and light florals. This is a fragrance I would wear anytime, anywhere, with any outfit, even if I'm just wearing my pj's around the house. If you are a fan of Gres, I would give this one a try -- it is less heavy than some of their others, which for many is a good thing.

You have to enjoy that loud melon note, as in Diamonds and Sapphires, Eternity, Wings. And it’s a note I normally avoid. But Cabotine Gold is also woody. An interesting combination of fresh, fruity and woody, imo this perfume smells so bright and pretty sprayed on outerwear in the cold winter. Or just in dry weather in general. I agree with the reviewer below who says it’s got an aquatic quality. In a way, Cabotine Gold is like a pal of Pleasures—or they speak to similar carefree moods—with Cabotine carrying a warmer, slightly dirtier woodiness than the pristine freshness of Pleasures. I only wear Cabotine when I’m feeling lighthearted and bold, because it does stand out rather uncompromisingly I believe, again, because of the melon.

My review is for the newer bottle in the white box without the floral design on the bottle. I suspect the base notes may have been toned down in this, as the patchouli and vetiver don't seem overly prominent to me. I've owned both Fuel for Life and Coco Mademoiselle, and IMO this is similar to Fuel for Life but not Coco Mademoiselle. Unlike either of those scents, Cabotine Gold has a melon top note that adds freshness. This is a very well balanced scent, not groundbreaking in any way but an easy grab when you don't know what to wear. This is my second Cabotine flanker (Cabotine Eau Vivide was the first) and both were blind buy successes. If you're looking for an inexpensive new fragrance for spring and summer, try these!

Nice try for a Coco Madmoiselle dupe at a budget price! It is similar, yet this one doesn`t really last that long on me - different quality obviously.. This one has is more citrus though and the patchouli is toned down, there`s also a "dirty" note going on with it in the drydown. I`m not sure how much will I be using it, but at the moment I prefer this to Coco Madmoiselle, simply because it is lighter and you get more citrus and perhaps jasmine. The melon note is also there, but fleeting. If you like Coco Madmoiselle, give this a try, at the price it`s selling it would make a good substitute.

I don't know when my bottle was made but I bought it from an online discounter during summer of '21. It does have a harsh opening, but I enjoy the patchouli in this so much. I do NOT often love pink pepper, or melon! But this perfume is well-blended. It's so affordable, so I give it a lot of latitude. Layering with an amber perfume oil I have (Inesscents Tunisian Amber) really enhances the fragrance; it's like a glue that brings it all together and makes it last longer. I would call this a citrus oriental. So wearable and versatile, and pleasant overall. I love it. I wear it a lot.

This was a blind buy for me because I red it was like Chanel CM, and I 'm happy with my purchase! Absolutely underrated, quite cheap but of an excellent quality! The opening is similar to Chanel CM, but then Cabotine Gold shows its real character - it's more than CM, more feminine (CM is stronger and harsher), well rounded and softer! Generous, rich, sparkling, light chypre with a tiny hint of honey added, just a bit of that golden sweetness (I guess, it's the melon playing with the floral notes). A golden lights from the Christmas tree reflected in her eyes. An everyday magic!

This fragrance does smell similar to coco mademoiselle on me. It's more of a soft citrus spicy scent on me. I normally don't like spicy scents but I actually like this fragrance. It's a very soft spice so I guess that's why it works for me. It's a nice addition to my fragrance collection. The only negative thing I can say about it is the longevity of the scent. You can't go wrong picking it up for the price.

I would indeed describe this as a "gold" fragrance. upon first spray, it has a "warm" aroma, from the mandarin orange and pink pepper, I'd suppose. it dries down in the same way on me. sadly, it is way too light for my liking! I prefer something with greater sillage. I'm selling a like-new bottle of this, by the way.

I like it a lot.It really does smells like Coco Madmmselle,but too bad that the lasting poewr and sillage are zero.Especially in cold weather.I bought it today and it is very cold outside and i barely smell it.But anyway...i have 100 ml botlle ,so i will spray it in every 30 min ,because i am in love with the smell.

I have worn the green Cabotine perfume since around the year 2001 when a neighbor introduced me to it. I love that one, particularly for the spring/summer months. It is very fun, bright, refreshing! I tried a sample of Cabotine Gold Gres, just a small spray to see how this compares to the bright green Cabotine that I dearly love. As far as Cabotine Gold Gres goes... The reviews that say that this leans more masculine, is correct. This perfume is extremely bold on - after the first spray. It is the depth of the notes that makes it seem more masculine than feminine. (If you like this, then you may also like David Yurman's Exotic Essense - which wears much better with my chemistry; with my chemistry DY's Exotic Essense is much more appealing and feminine). I don't want to sway you one way or the other but feel that I should be 100% truthful - and tell you up front...this isn't the best with my chemistry -- (not to say that someone else may wear this, and it could be totally fantastic). I have to be careful with some perfume blends, sometimes they can go rancid on me. This is why it is so important to try the flankers in each perfume house/designers line. I love Cabotine in the green bottle, that works well for me, but this perfume flanker is too masculine.

I really do like Gres perfumes and this one is no exception. The opening is fresh and citrus and then smells like hyacinth to me, fresh and pretty. After a few minutes I smell jasmine and tiare flower. The dry down is soft and creamy woods and I do not smell any amber or patchouli. This is an elegant fragrance for summer, fresh and softly floral. I think it would make a great office scent for it is not too strong. I do wish it lasted longer though as most of my Gres scents do last a long time, but this one doesn't, at least not on me. I found it on sale at TJ Max for not much money and decided to buy it. It is a lovely fragrance for hot weather and I will enjoy it this summer. The bottle(I also collect perfume bottles)is beautiful and elegant as well and will look amazing in my bath room. I am so glad I lucked up on this elegant french scent.I do wish it had more staying power though.

A true oddity for Gres--like them or love them, Gres perfumes are usually distinctive and identifiable. This one fails those tests. It opens with citrus as advertised but almost immediately moves into a very cold almost-single note heavy jasmine perfume. The pepper sharpens the white florals making the scent almost metallic--a perfume for robots perhaps. No amber that I can find, no melon to soften the cold. Perhaps the "gold" in the name refers to the coldness of the metal rather than the richness. I'll tuck this aside until the weather gets warmer but I have my doubts. No spring-in-winter in this bottle. Sillage: judo flip across the room Durability: lots Fabulosity: none at all Price to value: cheap isn't value if it smells bad 1/10

For the longest time, I couldn't figure why this perfume is so hauntingly bad. Repulsion with every spray - why? The Cabotine original was horrifying - yes, but you could still make a case for it. Your nose still wanted to like it anyway. But this Gold flanker turned my stomach. Today it hit me, and now that I have identified the cause, I will never smell it the same again. It smells like Calamine lotion. Exactly like that pink smear across mosquito bites, or slathered over weeping skin when I fiercely contracted chicken pox as a child. And that is where I will leave it, smelling of sickness.

It smells very much like a soapy wash. It seems obligatory to bow to the reputation of Grès, but in truth it does not smell more expensive than it is. It seems a bit shouty, a bit pushy. It strikes me in a similar way to Jimmy Choo’s Illicit. Both seem bright and likeable at first but I also had a feeling they are unrelenting and that this onslaught on the senses may become tiresome. The scent is great for a soap but a bit crude for a perfume if you’d ask me.

The smell of Cabotine Gold has puzzled me - what is that cold (gold? ;-) aroma I get from it? And hurrah, today I finally discovered: it is VETIVER! So now I see, why the scent felt a bit masculine and pointed! Vetiver plus pink pepper in the midst of orange and melon - I can smell vetiver right from the start - make a strange combination of "manly" spices and sweet fruits. One could even say that Gold has a certain yin and yang -effect. At the same time it is warm and cold, soft and metallic, sweet and herbal. I think the recipe is successful. Soon beautiful white flowers (especially jasmine) reveal themselves. They have enough power to make another good combination with vetiver. There is also some different kind of sweetness involved - just a hint - I think it might be patchouli. Now Gold mellows but nothing can block that fresh, aromatic edge in it. With those provisions in the picnic-basket you don't need to feel hungry for a long time. At least on me this perfume stays... and stays... but no shouting there, neither whispering. Sillage is medium. No doubt I understand people complaining its "oddness". I am one of those who don't love vetiver too much. But lo and behold! One can learn to like things. I remember how I hated onion as a child. Now I put it everywhere (well, at least when cooking :-) Smelling and tasting are related... one really can broaden his/hers liking. The most alluring thing in Gold is its ability to connect very different ingredients to a reasonably demure concoction. A unisex vibe is a fact, but still I find Gold a lady-like scent: sensual and silently mysterious, even distant but indisputably elegant. A keeper.

Okay, stop the show. What on earth is this, and why does it smell like this for €10? I've seen a lot of people compare it to Coco Mademoiselle. I've owned Coco Mademoiselle twice, and while I enjoyed it both times, I eventually grew a little tired of it and needed a break. Would the same thing happen with Cabotine Gold? That's something I'll have to find out. That said, I wouldn't recommend thinking of this as a dupe. It's better appreciated as its own fragrance. The opening isn't great - that's where you can tell it's a budget perfume - but once it settles, the drydown is very good. Smooth, elegant, and much more expensive-smelling than the price suggests. Are there little decants of this? Asking for a friend. I think I need to spend more time with Miss Cabotine Gold and wear it in different situations before I can make up my mind, but I like what I'm smelling so far. At the moment, I'd describe it as Coco Mademoiselle blended with a creamy cosmetic product. Not bad at all. I'll come back and update this review after I've spent a little more time wearing it. Edit: It is still pretty and very wearable, but after a while there is a Cabotine-ness appearing. It's like a salad-beer note, can't explain it, but it's in the original as well.

Cabotine Gold is definitely unisex, all the way. On first sniff I didn't like it because I thought it was too masculine, but tried it again and found it to be so soothing that I sprayed it on myself and the pillowcase before bed. I find it interesting that some reviewers here think it's feminine....huh? Not on me! Fascinating how diverse our olfactory senses are! If it were a wine, it would be a dry white chablis. The vetiver is the most prominent note to me, along with the pink pepper. I get lavender too, though it's not listed as a note. Though some reviewers here might consider it to smell like an aftershave, I still find it appealing. It reminds me a little of the Calvin Klein fragrance CK One, but with less citrus. If a man chooses to wear it, it would be a sparkling, clean masculine scent. Maybe I'll spray some on my husband and see if he likes it. I'll wear it myself too, when I'm a unisex mood - it makes me feel like an elegant Frenchwoman (or Frenchman)! One last comment I have is that Gres should rename it "Cabotine Silver" instead of "Cabotine Gold", because it feels more cool than warm to my nose. Pretty bottle!

Fragrance Review For Cabotine Gold Gres Top Notes: Mandarin Orange Pink Pepper Melon Middle Notes: Jasmine Tiare Peony Base Notes: Vetiver Patchouli Amber My favorite of the Cabotines. This is a beautiful amber perfume. It's an amber Oriental with floral touches of white jasmine and tiare flower. Sweet, citric, golden, aromatic, delicious. The first spritz is mandarin orange and melon. If you like fruity openings in perfume this definitely scratches your itch for fruit. The opening was slightly reminiscent of J'adore by Dior and Miss Dior. I don't mean they're exactly the same but it has that fruity citrus and melon opening which is fresh and delightful. The scent progresses into mainly white floral scents of jasmine and tiare flower. There is also a little peony. The base notes was what most caught my nose. The dry down is pure amber. This is where the "gold" moniker comes in. It's a glowing warm fragrant amber. I love the bottle and this always puts me in a good mood when I wear it. Highly recommended for spring and summer. It's light and inoffensive and perfect to wear anywhere at any time.

Gres Gold is all about strong pink pepper with citrusy accord accompanied with a hint of melon and followed by a jasmine procession. There might be some trace of the patchouli but its existence is very faint unfortunately for me. All in all, more a floral fruity than oriental floral, but still a decent one - feminine and modern yet elegant in some way. I would appreciate it more if not for the pink pepper that usually annoys me in most perfumes. I was surprised at its projection which is outstanding for such a budget product, but not overwhelming as it might be with the original Cabotine which I like a lot. It starts fresh and zesty peppery but becomes softer and quieter in the dry down. Too bad its longevity is far from that of the original Cabotine. Spring time would be best to use it, I guess.

I am a fan of the Cabotine range and this one for me is more than similar to Coco Mademoiselle.When I put both on different wrists, overall , there isn't too much difference. In fact I prefer Gold as it lasted longer.And not so mainstream.And a sixth of the price !! Crisp yet slightly spicy,I love the Vetiver note as it gives me the wonderful cologne-like crispness yet stays feminine and warm,the Veviter has not made it cold in my opinion. Although I wouldn't consider it an evening perfume, you could use it that way, and is out of the whole Gres Cabotine range the heavier scent.Verging on being sensual. I wish they would do some evening wear fragrances as I love what they do with these!I love it, will buy the largest bottle when this one diminishes and bathe myself in it :)

I like this for summer. 😺💞👍 Just got it today. Was surprised how easygoing this is compared to the original. This is perfect for summer. Fun, happy, fizzy and fresh. The Tiare in this is sooo pretty also and gives is almost creaminess. In the beginning I get the juicy mandarin and melon and when it settles it becomes woody, grounded patchouli and tiare flower scent. Very uplifting and nice. Quite subtle, does not project like crazy. Definitely a summer scent, could be an office scent. I like it a lot. Not too sweet, more juicy and fresh. It does venture into similar ballpark with Coco Mademoiselle but is different enough where you can have both and be satisfied. It is morefruity than Coco Mademoiselle and smells a bit more youthful.

I can see so many compared it to Coco M but this is much lighter, more sparkling and bit sweeter. Coco M is also MUCH heavier on patchouli. which almost gives me sort of sharper heavier feel. This is light and almost airy. Also another fragrance I have is rather similar is Love by Perry Ellis. Except Love is sharper and drier and more "astringent". This smell surprisingly expensive. And you can find it at bargain prices. However lasting power is nowhere near Coco M. Oh well, I scored large bottle for 24.99 so I can spritz away So far I am in serious like with this. PS it was a blind buy btw, based on reviews here. Yeah I know I have a problem haha

The only nice thing I can say about Cabotine Gold is that its mandarin opening is very juicy and naturalistic. After ten seconds on skin it morphs into a strange chemical hairspray effect that lingers and offends for much longer than anyone deserves. Eventually jasmine and patchouli make an appearance through the haze, smelling very clipped and clean (no indoles or earthiness). There's a laundry musk drydown that intensifies until I'm convinced I've spritzed myself with Febreze - and I hate Febreze. This is quite the scent blob, far closer to "Nasty Floral" than its predecessor. More mold than gold. Avoid.

I decided that I was gonna buying and try ALL Cabotine's, but thankfully these were not in security boxes at TJ Maxx so I opened it and sprayed it. I don't get any pepper from this and was hoping it would be spicy, my Playboy Play it Sexy is much cozier and spicier then this, and this has no staying power. It smells kinda old ladish and I am learning that if the box looks like something an old lady would buy then it also smells that way too. It does dye down and have a kinda Calvin Klein Euphoria smell but just not as strong, so its not horrible but nothing that I was looking for.

I keep trying to wear floral perfumes and my body keeps telling me "no." I find it difficult to find floral perfumes that don't turn sour on my skin for some reason. This one followed suit. In any case, Cabotine Gold smells very pretty and distinguished and whoah! it actually lasts and projects! That's a change from the watered down scents I've tried lately. It doesn't smell masculine to me. If I had to compare, I'd say it smells similar to Yves Rocher So Elixir. Pretty bottle to boot! If you'd like to swap, PM me!

I thought I would love this, looking at the notes, and I wanted the beautiful bottle, but I don’t get amber, patchouli, or jasmine at all. For some reason, it reads aquatic on me, and aquatic is the one type I’ve been unable to like. There is a dustiness to Cabotine Gold that, oddly, I think the “fresh” note contributes. Aquatics always smell very dry and dusty to me in the same way this does, which I don’t understand. I’m so glad I just got the little card spray to sample this first.

A fresh, patchouli, soapy perfume with a slight metallic edge, sparkling and fizzy, fit with the name. It takes a masculine turn on the dry down due to vetiver. However I couldn't really imagine this on a man. Can be worn in all seasons. Slightly resembles Coco Mademoiselle, but I wouldn't call it a dupe. Rather, it's a true flanker of Cabotine Gres, both fragrances share a similar green/fresh undertone. *May not be suitable for migraine sufferers.

Pretty on skin and cloyingly synthetic on paper. This does not evoke anything golden, rather Easter pink and green (and white) and OK, yes, sparkly. It's not that sweet, and not that Oriental. The mid note flowers keep it cool. Jasmine is used for "cooling" impact in some Eastern medicines. Many white flowers impress me as cool. Melon is cool, pink pepper isn't warm. Gold treats fatigue with its coolish florals and sparkling tone.

I can see why ppl are referencing CCM. Don't buy it for that tho, this is not Chanel. This is ok. I will use as a cheapie, but will not repurchase. Armaf's Club d Nuit for Women & Zen are much better affordable options for CCM. So Elixer WAS, (I have 2 bottles) but my formulation was discontinued, so if they reformulated, I have NO idea. This is great for a teen that loves her Mother's CCM.

Wanted to love this but the opening is so harsh. I wanted to smell citruses and all I got was pink pepper ...so much so it burned my nostrils a bit. Then the bitter citruses come to the party and the dry down has a hefty dose of vetiver. Very inexpensive and similar vibes to (not even close to a dupe) Coco MME. good cheap alternative if you can handle strong pink pepper and Vetiver.

This smells so good. I agree that it has the same feeling as Coco Mademoiselle, but this is softer. The patchouli and orange open up, but then it quickly blends into a ripe, sweet, melon tinted with a bit of jasmine that subdues the semi-masculine opening. The dry down is lovely and smooth; the amber and patchouli linger. I really enjoy this one.

You can find those at a cheap price, probably because they aren't really exciting, almost skin scents, dry, clean and clear, I have had a few of the Caline flankers, and only one in my opinion was above average, Moon Flower, Cabotine Gold is real boring, the name implies a rich golden scent, it is rather a cold, distant scent. Not impressed.

Coco Mademoiselle? Yes please! For lovers of the genre, a dupe at very, very competitive prices is a really good compromise. As a collector, the purchase is insured with every release. This version is truly excellent. A flowery oriental with incredible duration and sillage. Yes, perhaps a little retro but it doesn't matter. Good, good, good.

When it's first applied it does have a citrus smell that might be associated with mens fragrance. But then it dries down and I can smell , of all things, honey . I know it does not have honey as a note but I can smell it along with jasmine. Maybe my nose is playing a trick on me . It's different but I like this.
