Cabotine Turquoise

Anyone expecting the sharp, irritating notes typical for Grès fragrances can calm down – it's sharp, but not irritating. Initially, you can smell the citruses, but soon after, the WONDERFUL aquatic notes and the sweet, powdery, and very strong oleander note take over. I was afraid of the anise, but I don't detect it. The whole thing builds beautifully on the patchouli and labdanum. The scent is powerful, and I also think it leans slightly towards unisex. A good purchase, and at a ridiculous price (£13) 😍

I keep wearing this during the European heat waves this summer. I have a thousand fragrances and many wonderful ones associated with summer. But, here I am. Turquoise isn't transparent like many aquatics rather it's a creamy perfume smell that nevertheless can be worn in high heat. Oleander flower doesn't go full powder but it has talc and almond and light cherry vibes, and is warmly honeyed or nectary. This is sweet but not marshmallow or fruit candy sweet. I would put Turquoise in the family of the now old, almost classic, Rem Reminiscence. That one, somedays, has a marina water skank - iodine, seaweed. Turquoise stays pretty. Flowers above the sea? Maybe there is cousin-ship to the forgotten Lanvin Oxygen's laconic vibe. This is simpler. Still French. All three smell summery without tropical tiare and coconut, suntan lotion, or melon and cucumber. An invitation to slow down and enjoy the sunny day and summer sensations. They are not energizing freshies. Lord knows there are many citrus and mint zingers if that's what you want. Summer movie parallels. Grès Turquoise = Otto Preminger's Bonjour Tristesse (1958) with Jean Seberg. Lanvin Oxgen = Vittorio De Sica's Il Giardino dei Finzi Contini (1970) Rem = Ozon's 2025 remake of L'Etranger.

A successful fragrance. Rochas usually pulls off these Cabotine flankers. Turquoise starts with a masculine cologne vibe with all the Ambroxan but I enjoy the notes. It gets really pleasant after an hour. Finally the dry down is the real achievement: lightly sweet, flowery watery musky and yet bright and mid vibration. Turquoise does not reduce to sludgy woods and patchouly. As always with this series Cabotine, I enjoy seeing a few bottles together - the colors pop and that fits the Cabotine gesture. (I include only the ones that have ink printed on glass, not the ones with patterns printed on plastic, shrink wrapped onto the bottle. The latter can smell great, but the plastic breaks the pure repetition of the design.)

I don't really distinguish lot of citrus fruitiness here, I would rather say this is water floral, slightly salty, aromatic musk scent.There is also a nice patchouli on the bottom, but in a subdued way. Relatively sweet, but because of the musk and spices, I would say this even go to masculine side or unisex. Light and balanced. Musk here is clean smelling, like shaving foam, but not in a disturbing way. This is that kind an after-shower scent, in my opinion. Very nice and refreshing.

Where are the reviews, people? Must I buy this completely blind? Is it distributed nowhere?
