Cabotine

There is no fragrance like Cabotine is. Seriously. It doesn't exist. It is one of the most special and complex masterpieces ever made. The big sadness is that original components didn't remain, they had better longevity. Including a wonderful bottle. Crazy bottle. This is an eccentric miracle. Madame Gres actually approved this fragrance and that is very important. The name means theatrical "poser." Is it theatrical? Oh yes. Right away. With the first smell. Théâtre... Is it poser? Yes. But extremely special. Jean-Claude Delville probably sold his soul to invent this. It opens with wit. Opens with a flash. It flashes! Radiates. With Green notes and ripe fruit, pay attention! Plum! Peach! Very female. Very sensual. Grass! (I would dare to say it's fresh grass note, not overly strong, this is my guess), Orange blossom (ohh yes), Blackcurrant, Tagetes, Cassia, Peach (ripe peach peel), Coriander, Plum (ripe plum, next to skin parts), cassia and wonderful tangerine, which takes you to middle notes. Butterfly Lilly clutches tangerine to enter and stay. It stays till the end. It is wonderful. BTW. Did you count? It opens with 10 notes! Splash of notes. One of the best openings ever in perfume history. Why? Because it fits what follows. It radiates green and transformés into deep brown and white. This is not for simple noses. Why? Because it is a complex perfume asking to be worn by complex women. It is sophisticated to the point of not being predictable. YES! It is not predictable. It will always smell different, different notes from the heart will dance around Butterfly Lilly. It is an extremely witty perfume. This is goddess perfume. Hits you with the magic she wants. It can do anything and it doesn't care do you like it. It can even smell different in one day. It is eternally unpredictable and majestic. The heart of Fragrance is composed of Hyacinth, Tuberose, Carnation, Butterfly Lilly Jasmine, Violet, Ylang-ylang, Freesia, Heliotrope, Iris, Rose merge into base notes. Civet, Vetiver, Black Currant, Musk, Sandalwood, Cedar, Amber, Tonka Bean and Vanilla. Light vanilla. Fits. The bottle, whose stopper was turned into the shape of a flower, was created by Thierry Lecoule. The vintage bottle is beautiful. More beautiful in my opinion. Simple and eccentric. As much as I like to talk about every note separately because I find that important. Knowing plants is crucial to understanding perfumes. If you don't understand the character of, for example, geranium, why wear that perfume? Do people choose so baseless? Detached from the spirit of plants and their own character? Do people know themselves? I hardly believe a person, that knows nothing about notes knows himself. But! I will skip taking all notes. I will only describe the magnificent Hedychium coronarium. Butterfly Lilly is not Lilly! So don't expect Lilly to smell. It doesn't smell like Lilly. And no it's not a similar smell to Jasmine. Have that in mind. It is a FOREST flower! It contains the smell of forest water and soil! Incredible plant. Evergreen plant. Protected plant. Growing in a forest mountains climate, this plant blooms for only a few weeks in fall and winter! Fall to winter, not spring! Special yes. Each flower lives a few hours, which makes it difficult to extract the oil. Dr. Braja Mookherjee, found a way to analyse the oil structure using the living-flower technique, and to copy the fragrance of the ginger lily, which enabled the industrial production. Cabotine is the first perfume which contains ginger lily in its composition. It's a strict composition but feels so loose. Floating. The magic of Butterfly Lilly. There is no other perfume doing that better. It's a theatrical cocktail that addicts you. Wonderful perfume. Is it like that green Dior? Is that the Dior Poison version? No. There is no perfume like this one. Secretive. Eccentric. I warned you. It is the most unpredictable perfume I ever had. And not light perfume! (I wear it for a very long time. Years and years. Having the pré reformulation bottles. Are they better? Longevity is better, rest very similar.) I suggest wearing it not directly after a shower. It behaves great on the hair. Backside head. Behaves interesting if you layer it. Or over body oil. Argan for example. P. S: I suggest testing first. It is not simple in wearing sense. Try first.

I spent a long time thinking about this review in order to say everything I want about this unique fragrance. I blind bought it and recommended it to a friend who lives very far away from me as a blind buy and we are both delighted, but still I wouldn't recommend it as a blind buy for everyone as it is not a fragrance for everyone. The perfumes of the Grés house are different, they are not mainstream, they are not perfumes for a teenager or for a Kardashian type woman . All Grés perfumes have that typical French retro flair that is not admired by the masses, they are sophisticated fragrances for sophisticated women. To understand and appreciate this fragrance, it is beneficial to, if not to study, at least to look at Madame Grés' work and the amazing Greek pleated evening gowns that she designed. You have to give this perfume the situation and circumstances to stand out properly and Cabotine shines the best with a similar type of dress as madame Grés was designing. It is suitable for an elegant dress or flowy blouse. You have to wear proper makeup. This is not parfume for leggings or jeans. This perfume has so many aromatic accords that looking at the list makes you think, wow, what's not in here? We can find black currants, currant leaves, coriander, plums, tangerines, peaches, citrus, jasmine, hyacinth, ylang-ylang, freesia, cloves, tuberose, roses, irises, violets, musk, sandalwood, amber, tonka bean, vanilla, vetiver and the specialty of that perfume Himalayan ginger lily which was used in this perfume for the first time ever. This fragrance is green, fresh, full of white flowers with a little fruit, aldehydic, it is the smell of freshly cut grass, the smell of laundry washed in a mountain stream, dried in a meadow full of flowers. There is something buttery, fresh, invigorating, sparkling and French about it. I don't know what else to call it :-) I believe that lovers of french perfumes understand what I mean by the word something French :-) The perfume is strong, long-lasting and sharp, it needs time to develop, at the beginning, right after you spray it, it's like someone slames you with a huge white bouquet and you don't know what to think, but after an hour it develops and softens. It is suitable for every season, but especially for spring, but I can also imagine it in summer and winter. Cabotine is a name for an wandering actress from the end of the 19th century, and that's what Cabotine should be, it's for different types of women, a young woman could pull it off, her mother can pull it off and her grandmother can pull it off too. Cabotine can change her faces, but it's still a fragrance for a woman who understands and appreciates perfumes. It is not the type of perfume for a woman who owns only one perfume and wears it with every outfit, for every occasion and in every season. This perfume needs to be staged. As for the bottle, it's amazing and kitsch stylish, the juice is yellow-green, rich, just like the fragrance. The broccoli-shaped top is iconic and I hope they NEVER change it. Cabotine has been compared to the discontinued green Tendre Poison, and indeed they are quite similar, however Cabotine is definitely not a knock off of Tendre Poison. Cabotine was launched in 1990 and Tendre Poison fou years later in 1994. And finally, Dior took Tendre Poison out of production, as it didn't sell that well and Cabotine still lives on, perhaps that says it all.

Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen - Ladies specially, because this review is for you. I could not write about this little fragrance without any amount of affection because it lives in my heart. And it is with affection that I say "little" as something cute, delicate, in my humble opinion. When I was a teen in the early 90's there was this cologne in Brazil named after "Spirit of Flowers" by O Boticário. Later, I found out it was an obvious copy of Cabotine which had been recently launched and became a hit because it would match the usual warm weather and due to its price. I wore the national copy due to being more affordable, and some time later, I tried Cabotine and knew it was much, much better and finely crafted. As O Boticário has always had this horrid habit to simply take successful fragrances out of market, regardless of their faithful clients, I knew one day I would be orphan of my beloved Spirit of Flowers. (And it happened quite soon). However I also knew one day I would be holder of a lovely and cute bottle of Cabotine, with its gentle, exquisite and captivating spirit. The true spirit of flowers. I had - as I have - never felt a fragrance like this. And I say "felt" meaning my senses and my emotions. It deepens my breath in order to feel all those flower notes, closes my eyes so nothing disturbs us and makes my imagination and memories drift and fly. Perhaps Cabotine is poetry in liquid form. Or maybe a magic potion to the spirit. One might be transported to an ethereal garden where spring is the constant and eternal season, or simply thrown back in their most fantastic childhood dreams. Heaven only knows. (Heaven; what an appropriate word now). I read the review of Ms. Mooniq where she said the eau de parfum was better than the eau de toilette. I agree. It is concentrated enough to last over half a day or a night. I confess I like to wear it to bed. It relaxes me. For those who are considering Cabotine as their next acquisition, my advice is the usual: try it on skin before buying. Spray it lightly from some distance and wait a few good seconds until it dries. Then smell it. When worn in the correct way, Cabotine will not annoy you or even others. It is actually a compliment getter. It delivers a light green floral atmosphere with delicate fruity notes. A true masterpiece by the house of Grès. I would say Cabotine appeals to that gentle side of us. One of my aunts, who is also my godmother, is addict to it. She is a small woman with a kind personality. There could not be a better choice for her. For those who consider a blind buy, I say: okay. It is a beautiful fragrance and it is quite probable that you will like it. (Remember my advice when trying it on skin). If you do not, or if it simply does not work on your skin, you will have a nice gift to someone else. But someone who really likes floral notes. I highly recommend it.

One must have a mind of winter to understand the scents that memory conjures. This thought occurred to me the other afternoon, a silvered, gloomy afternoon, as I contemplated two glass bottles. My curiosity had been pricked by the comparisons between the darling, Cabotine, and that elusive ghost of a perfume, Dior’s Tendre Poison. So, I did what any sensible person haunted by such a notion would do: I acquired the former, an Eau de Parfum no less, and resolved to settle the matter myself. Well. The chatter, was correct. They are identical. Or nearly so. To distinguish one from the other is like trying to separate the reflections in a looking glass; a futile, rather dizzying exercise. The same heart beats in both bottles. And yet, where the common consensus—that tiresome chorus!—declares them to be the very breath of spring, I find myself transported to a different season entirely. On my skin, Cabotine does not whisper of dewy petals; it speaks in the richer, more complicated dialect of December. It is the scent of a fur coat, damp with cold, as one steps indoors from a snowy street. It is the faint, buttery, almost animalic scent of a face cream from another era—a whisper of musc and civet that speaks of vanity and warmth. It is the very aroma of Christmas presents heaped under the tree: not the generic smell of pine, but the specific, secret smells of the gifts themselves. Of a polished orange in the toe of a stocking, of walnuts cracked on the hearth, of a new box of crayons, and of gingerbread, spicy and dark, from a kitchen window. As I noted once before, in a moment of similar clarity regarding Tendre Poison, this fragrance is not a romance; it is a reassurance. It is the enveloping, uncomplicated hug from one’s mother, or perhaps a favorite kindergarten teacher. It feels vintage, which in today’s world of screeching, ephemeral concoctions, is a profound and welcome relief. And its longevity! It clings to the skin, this Cabotine, with the tenacity of a true story. It is, I am almost sorry to say, rather better at outlasting its more expensive, high-end cousins. A fact which I am sure would cause no end of delicious consternation.

This is what happiness smells like! 🍀 A girl in her mid forties who is sometimes still mistaken for late twenties to early thirties has new aches and pains now. Her joints hurt a little more, okay, a lot more, and she notices herself changing. She sees the small beginnings of "crape paper skin" developing as she looks at her once perfectly smooth arms. She traces a finger over them, wondering, "When did that happen?" She moves a little slower now as she takes her leisurely evening walks because her knees and back like to "playfully" remind her they are there with little bursts of surprises catchs and aches. She hasn't been bicycle riding all summer due to those mischievous knees of hers she muses, as she thinks of how much she misses it. One day, when she is watering her porch garden of flowers, she realizes that no matter how spare the flowers petals become with the sun and winds, the smell is just as beautiful! Getting older is like that. It doesn't change your scent. This perfume is that scent. It is the scent of youthful clover mixed with laughter. The scent of changing but staying the same. A scent some would call old upon first glance, but once they inhaled it they would realize no matter the age there is nothing old about it! This scent is a girl who is not middle age, her age just happens to be somewhere in the middle now. The scent is a girl in her mid forties who still plays like the child at heart she is when her knees behave well. This scent is giddily sniffing all the flowers and all the petals are beautiful, "crape paper" sun and wind kissed or not! 😊 Youthful happiness in a bottle!

Combination of White Linen by Estee Lauder and Sparkling White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor with an additional grassy note, The only sweetness is the slight natural sweetness of the flowers. Soapy, understated and clean. Melancholic. Like in Sparkling White Diamonds, I detect something similar to Ivory Soap. French and sophisticated. Does not have any of the bombastic sweetness of Italian and American fragrances like Versace Blonde and her twisted American sister Design, both of which I also love. No aspersions cast. Cabotine is interesting, I like it. Perfect for when you get tired of syrupy ambers, high pitched sweet florals and sticky gourmands. EDT version tested. Update after wearing this a couple of times. This is more musky than I originally thought. After the aldehydes burn off I'm getting a floral, slightly green white musk with a little animalic something or another. I don't remember what the early 90's version smelled like but I bet this is an example of a well executed reformulation. It hasn't lost the complexity and slightly animalic muskiness typical of that era. Cabotine EDT remains floral-sweet, not 'relying on cotton candy' compounds to make it sweet smelling. The EDT is strong and long lasting. I get at least 8 hours then 4-6 additional hours of a skin scent. The bottle is charming, the performance is above average and the scent is delightful if you like slightly aldehydic florals. I can't wait to test the EDP version.

My sister wore this and Quel Quel Fluers in the 90's and I still love them both. She wasn't like me, she had just a few bottles and wore the same fragrance for years so I vividly remember this scent and loving it then. I don't know if I love it as much as I used to but I will say that it's a beast. I bought Cabotine Rose and that one is straight weak sauce compared to this one's beast mode. It's a very green, clean floral scent. I would agree that the floral notes are really indistinguishable and you just get the green floral vibe. If I get any notes it's jasmine, hyacinth, carnation and definitely the tuberose. There is a spiciness from the coriander and ginger and the greenery with the hyacinth, cassis and black currant notes. The base is heavy with vetiver, civet, and musk. I'm guessing it's the ylang ylang that creates the oriental quality. This is not a scent for people who like mild scents, it's french perfumery with middle eastern performance. It smells womanly-this is the scent of a grown, mature, WOMAN-not girly at all. While it is categorically a day time scent, the oriental quality and intensity make it appropriate as well for night. As for Poison Tendre, don't know it but I do know that this scent was created years before it's release, 1990.

My very first blind buy! I’d always been curious about this fragrance — the old-school bottle design was completely over the top in the best way. Plus, my husband sometimes calls me 'Cabotine' as a nickname, so I kind of had this gut feeling that the perfume was meant for me :p When I saw it for the unbeatable price of €7, I didn’t even hesitate — straight into the cart it went. Some of the reviews here did make me a bit nervous though: 'smells like an old lady,' 'way too strong,' plus that insanely long note pyramid... I was definitely expecting something heavy and overpowering. But hey, for that price, I figured it was worth the risk! And I was pleasantly surprised from the very first spray — it smells like spring! Fresh flowers everywhere. Yes, it’s bold, and you will get noticed wearing it, but it’s not dated at all. It’s got guts. Longevity is amazing — this stuff sticks around — and you really don’t need much. It’s a vintage scent, but in the best possible way: bold, unique, and totally charming

Wow. This is such a blast from the past for me. My Dad, (no longer of this mortal coil) bought this for me from the Duty Free on the ferry, on of our many trips to France when I was about 10 years old. Bizarre choice for a child, but hey, the 90's were wild! I loved it then and still do now. Stumbled across it on Amazon for an insulting amount of £11. (This used to be mega expensive!) It is a fantastic example of a strong aldehydic floral. Ginger, ylang, tuberose, hyacinth, ginger lily, patchouli, sandalwood and musk. On opening I really get the ylang and tuberose, which dries down to the sandalwood and definitely the ginger lily. Not too much patchouli for me, at all. Super strong even in the EDT, wouldn't even bother with the EDP! Happy, mature, sophisticated, calming. Bottle and packaging you can feel is expensive, cannot believe its now so cheap. Definitely an insult to a wonderful perfume I'd expect to pay around 5 or 6 times as much for. Give it a try!

I knew the perfume, but whenever tried something was a bit off, so never really had a proper chance to try. Came across a bottle at a sale, so even if I wouldn't like the scent I would not regret - and boy, this one is something else! First of all, the aldehydes are just way too much, mixed with kind of horse p*ss that I remember from my horseriding times. So basically you enter a not so clean stable where there's been a washing done - and you kind of regret putting it on. Like, who would, in which universe. There are no backsies so the scent (!!!) takes you for a crazy ride. There's some grassy notes, a lot of mint, tons of aldehydes and white flowers on hiacynths and woodsy-resiny notes trying to push trhough. This is the moment that make you think of Blue Grass and remind you to be patient, because soon you will be taken to a very different place: milky, powdery, with a hint of incense and white church lilies. And I want to smell like that forever.

As a vintage lover and connoisseur of anything labelled "old-lady", Cabotine feels quite young. An ageless bold floral with a sharp puff in it's opening and twangy drydown as the scent settles down onto a picnic blanket on the city park grass. Cabotine is a young woman on the town that is constantly rummaging through a tote bag, someone who forget their umbrella and had to sprint through the rain to the approaching bus. She's clumsy, has a bit too much going on, but is committing to the bit for the sake of being authentic and I'm 100% projecting since this is such an easy scent to throw on in a rush, layer with thoughtfully, and have no trouble sweating out since it's just that pesky. I wear this all year round and find it to be a backdoor signature scent-twice removed; a desperate comfort and something I can happily drain bottles of cause I just always need something bitter and impish in a floral

I was born in 1990 and I swear this smell is SO familiar and comforting to me! Absolutely love it. Upon first spray I got a rose note that I disliked but as it sat for about 10 minutes it went away and went into everything else. This perfume has been my go-to lately! It does smell mature. As in a middle aged person might wear it. Maybe a mom? Especially with all the younger scents being heavily sweet smelling. But I don't mind that because I'm not into the sweeter smells, I'm more into florals. It is so comforting. I love putting it on and then laying down for bed and smelling it while going to sleep. Reminds me of something about my childhood. I would love to find other scents like this! Not dupes but just in the same category of that mature 90's without an aldehydes smell. People have been calling this a 'cold' floral and I'm not quite sure what they mean but it sure is uplifting to me!

You are lying down in a small rowboat, gently drifting under a canopy of otherworldly flowers, over the quiet but murky waters of a shallow tributary of some much larger river far, far away. Your eyes are hypnotized by the sun-rays filtering through blooms suspended above you by some cunning artifice; each gap betwixt the petals - an almost blinding twinkle as you travel downstream. The buzzing of the insects, the croak of the frogs, the subtle rustle of weeping willow leaves as they part before the bow of your vessel, their caress upon your cheeks as you pass beneath their greenness... It all lulls you into a trance; a paradoxical state in-between indole-induced slumber and freely cartwheeling along the banks of a merrily bubbling stream. Should your boat capsize, you will drown with a smile.

Let it dry and spray with a light hand. I think this is an absolutely beautiful floral. It blasts a bit sharp and aldehydic at first, but it dries into such a pretty fresh floral. I don’t feel like this smells dated, but it is a little too complex and sophisticated for some. It wears very much like a niche fragrance. According to the box, the top notes are: Mandarin, Ginger, Ylang-Ylang. Mid Notes: Tuberose, Hyacinth, Ginger Lily. Base Notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood, Musk, Black Currant. I mostly pick up the ylang-ylang and tuberose. It’s very much a “clean girl” fragrance. I would put it in the same genre (not dupes) as Britney Spears Believe, Gucci Flora, and Chanel Chance au Tendre. It’s crisp and clean and will last all day.

The edp version of Cabotine Gres is thicker and more sticky smelling than the edt. It goes through a phase reminiscent of crushed flowers, like someone was trying to make floral wine and smashed a barrel of flowers instead of grapes. I love both but so far prefer the more musky edt after wearing it several times and the edp once. The EDP is more linear and has fewer notes. It reads as less complex and more modern. However it is less sharp and more..fluid, round. The EDP is much closer to my memory of Dior Tendre Poison, which I never owned but remember on other people and from testing. In fact, I would say that the EDT does not remind me of Tendre Poison but the EDP does quite a lot.

I do not get bitter; I do not get green grass; and I definitely do not get herbal. All of those are very fine smells, but not featured in my Cabotine palette. I get warm, billowy (aldehydes) spicy florals that also go slightly powdery from the heliotrope, and a deeply sweet, woody-fruity base with animalic intrigue from the musk. Vetiver keeps it fresh, as does the high-pitched gorgeous hyacinth and lily in the opening. Despite the complexity, I've been surprised how well Cabotine can blend with other deep-toned perfumes. Not only for Spring, but most especially for Spring. Not for people who cannot surrender. Currently wearing edp, but I also own and wear edt. Current formulae.

Wow! This perfume surprised me. It did not cost very much money, but it smells soooo good. It starts off beautiful and stays beautiful. It has sweetness, floral, spice and soft powdery freshness. I am super impressed with this scent, especially considering it was not expensive (at all). Cabotine de Gres also has a unique and pretty bottle that looks lovely in my perfume collection. I'm wearing it right now, and it's driving me crazy – it's so intoxicating to my senses. It reminds me a little bit of Tatiana by Diane Von Furstenberg. Love it! I forgot to mention that I have the eau de parfum. It has lasting power that I smell on my clothing days later when I'm doing the laundry.

I just got this in the mail and the box smelled so lovely I sprayed it all over myself immediately. I am a lover of musks, spice, warmth, and *sometimes* florals like jasmine or violet. It is hard to find a summery perfume that feels elegant and grounded enough for me without going too far into dirt smells or rubber aquatic. This smells like a fashion magazine ad that shows beautiful green scenery. Like walking through the well kept flower gardens of an expensive estate. Reading an intellectual book on a park bench in the early summer. It is so blended that it is hard to pick notes, but it still smells complex. Intoxicating and warm. I love it SO much.

Today was the first not freezing day in NYC and I came across my 2004 limited edition bottle while rooting around in my perfume bins. I sought out a well preserved older version (in a squat, blossom shaped glass bottle with a small green bulb cap) after declutterring a recent bottle bought at TJ Maxx. I felt like the new one wasn’t quite hitting my nostalgia for how fruity the one I got at Sephora in 2000 was? I’m not sure if I can really tell the difference between old & new Cabotine but it is a fabulous powdery green scent. Distinctive and charming- wild that we used to wear scents like this in our teens & 20’s vs what trends for that age now.

After watching Super Dacob review this perfume on YouTube I went in for a blind buy of the Edp. It arrived today and I'm wearing it as we speak. The weather is hot, it's a humid summer and I feel so fresh, clean and happy. I really really like this scent. Somehow it reminds me of Jean Louis Scherrer 2 which I don't like and weirdly enough Coco by CHANEL, another one that I struggle to understand. But I gotta say this one beats them both in terms of the joy and freshness it gives me, and at that price it's simply irresistible.

This is nothing less than a grandiose soapy floral explosion. It has a vintage feel to it for sure, but there is a lingering aftertaste of sour candy that keeps it feeling young. I feel myself drawn to this genre of fragrance as it is so different to what's in style now. [Current formulation, EDT] Edit: I have worn Cabotine a couple of times now, and I find it to be so comfortable to wear. So happy and fresh for spring. Also, I wasn't expecting this to be a compliment magnet, but I've already had two compliments for this.

It smells like an era before social media, back when idiots actually had the decency to feel ashamed of their own stupidity. A time of impeccably tailored clothes and handmade shoes, when the world didn’t rush blindly forward and people actually talked to one another.This fragrance is aggressively unmodern. The basic, clueless Karens who drool over sickly-sweet slop that smells like apple-pie vomit will be utterly repulsed. Let them have their garbage. True connoisseurs, however, will worship this masterpiece.

I have the EDP version. Wonderful, very French, classy, very strong and long lasting. Green, flowery, fruity, sweet. I don't care about labels: "old lady-like", "vintage", "wax-like", "cheap", "smells like pickles" etc. It is a fragrance of excellent quality, and for less than 10 euro, it is great! I understand that it has been reformulated, but I never smelled the 1990 original, so I can't compare the 2. It doesn't smell cheap to me/on me at all. But if you are in doubt, find a way to try it first.

This is a Winter Perfume. Beautiful Soapy Scent that holds up in Cold Whether. I never discovered the beauty in this scent until this Fall then fell madly in love with this!!! I’ve had this bottle for a couple years now. Each and every scent is SPECIFIC to a Season and I guess I never tried this on in the Fall, I always assumed it was a Sumner Scent and didn’t care for this scent at all. I could not have been more wrong. This scent is DIVINE!!!!! But only in Cold Seasons.

I love this one!!! Haven't been this excited about a fragrance since I discovered Anais-Anais. Probably because I'm obsessed with hyacinth. The ylang ylang and hyacinth stand out the most to me. A lot of people refer to this one as a "powerhouse" and maybe it has to do with the lasting power because for me, Cabotine isn't a huge projector. It stays close to the skin. It's so clean and fresh and it does evoke feelings of happiness. 10/10 amazing cheapie! 💚💚💚

I have four bottles of this affordable beauty on my writing desk. Not to everyone's taste -decidedly mature and 'classic' or old timey- with a French couture house feel, homing from its retired couture roots. Like flower petals stewed in thick sun, with a murky deep ending. An alcoholic whiff that lasts a little too long when applying, but this is an acceptable debt to pay when it comes to such a rich, but cheap, perfume.

I have always had a bottle of the Cabotine edt in my collection and just recently decided to get the edp, both are very affordable. I sprayed the edt on one wrist and the edp on the other and I have to say that I adore the edp and much prefer it to the edt. It is much more refined, deep and demure (if that could be said of Cabotine). It doesn't last as long but it is not as headache inducing on me as the edt.

I love Cabotine EDT so naturally I had to get the EDP as well. They are very different indeed. The EDT is a very bright and cheery floral. It feels youthful in a vintage way. The EDP is more mature, more aldehydic, and a bit more perfume-y to my nose. I like both, but I prefer the EDT. Also: I think this is the best value for money you can get in a perfume, honestly. Wdym less than €10 for 100ml??

My mother is a big fan of Tendre Poison, but given that it's nearly impossible to find nowadays, she wears this one a lot. From what she and I remember, Cabotine is around 70% similar. Yeah, something is "off", but to its credit it feels classy enough, it's very cheap, and it has great performance. If you love Tendre Poison, this one will at least leave you with nice thoughts.

This perfume to me is a timeless masterpiece. I have been wearing it since my 20s and I am now 40. I wore this at my wedding. It smells unique, happy, aromatic. Makes me feel more feminine and it lifts my mood instantly. It's one of those that agrees with my skin so much that I cannot see it as old. It's just great for me forever. Love whoever made this 🌹 a big thank you!

I tried Cabochard recently and liked it. Tried this one and LOVED it. A beautiful, well balanced vintage scent, with that fresh aldehydic opening ( although it doesn't list them) softening down to a very nice floral, strangely reminiscent of Tendre Poison..I loved all the original Poisons, so this is a plus for me. What a great, long lasting perfume for a stellar price.

This fragrance was all I would wear as a young woman in my 20s. Loved it so much. The ginger lily notes and the lush greenness of this scent was addictive to me. Unique. I think I aged out of it. Would still pick up a bottle but I don’t see it around as much. I see from the other reviews though that it is still available and very inexpensive besides!

On the first spray, I get a strong, bitter, green soapy scent, which after about half an hour turns into something that smells like candy. This perfume really shows its potential only in hot weather. Interestingly, my boyfriend — who normally hates this fragrance — has complimented me several times on how I smelled without realizing I was wearing it.

I really love this fragrance; it brings back so many nostalgic memories for me. It reminds me of my high school French teacher, who wore it as her signature scent and took us on an unforgettable trip to Paris. It’s amazing how certain scents can trigger such vivid memories. As a fan of white florals, this one truly hits all the right notes for me. 🤍

this scent gives spring, clean and cool flowers aura to the last woman who was wearing it that I met. It let people thinking that she has certainlely a clean womanity and a good mind, helpfull, It was according to her delicate voice. This nurse had two jewels : this scent and her voice. that kind of scent so nice for a woman working among women.

I bought the Eau de Parfum for my girlfriend - thanks to the good reviews below.. It is a female atomic bomb in a good way! Hiachynth, rose and other flowers make a fantastic combination with a feminine smell!! Performance is really good! Overall Cabotine Gres Parfume is a rich fragrance which worth more than other a £100 perfumes.! 10 /10

I'm not particularly fond of soapy scents, but Cabotine is just fascinating. Its essence is that bubbly and caramelly, airy and clean, playful and elegant at the same time. The scent is not even terribly strong, but just right for layering all the fruits and flowers that need more texture and longevity. A happy little bottle of asparagus.💚

I purchased my first bottle in summer of 1996. I have never been without it since then. When I finish a bottle, I buy I new one and that's how it's gonna be forever!!! Let me get things straight a bit by telling you that there is nothing that smells like this. It is the one and only for what it is. Cabotine is a masterpiece!!!

Oh là là Cabotine, I think I love you. Originally I was wishing for crisp floral aldehydes but what what I’m actually getting on my skin is so much better-rich and sultry acacia nectar, green twigs and artisanal soap. Nothing outdated, no „old lady” smell. If I was said it’s been something niche, I would definitelly trust it.

A strong, floral, classic opening. Mature and feminine, sweet thanks to an intoxicating bouquet of floral and fruity notes. Tuberose adds a hint of vintage character. A beautiful fragrance from the '90s. As it fades, it becomes more subtle, and the sweetness gives way to woody notes.

It’s part air freshener, part a clean but lightly swampy florist boutique housed in a prefabricated container building in late may. The one you go inside to buy flowers for a funeral you’re running late to. Uplifting.

Cabotine Grès is what I call an oldie but goodie. Sure, it can be called an old lady perfume. I love how inexpensive it is, and you get a whiff every once in a while of Orange Blossom and amber. It's really a beauty!

Cabotine, you cheap cutie! All of the delights that mix and meld to make you YOU, they don't matter. The three people who asked me what perfume I am wearing today, it's wonderful, what is it? They do matter.

it open sharp but once it settles it ́s very soapy in a old time soap/ laundry detergent way I find it a very conforting scent, mine is the edt and the longevity and projection is very good

Beautiful floral with incredible performance. Reminds me of my grandma, but this is not to say this fragrance is outdated - just that it smells classy and beautiful like she was. :)
