Caline Sweet Appeal

This scent is among my few favorite signature fragrances s this is NOT at all a generic fruity scent, but rather unlike any other I have come across yet. Absolutely beautiful from start to finish and is a very long lasting fragrance with a beautiful dry down. I received Caline sweet appeal as a tester with no cap by accident and not happily I might add, because a tester bottle is something I refuse to purchase. this was a blind buy and how shocked I was to be pleasantly surprised! this is definitely a scent I desire to keep in my signature scent collection. however, in seeking to order this scent I have found that it was a limited edition and is difficult to find unopened, new & intact. confused as to how this fragrance is being sold everywhere only as a tester with no cap, but next to not available new. It is unfortunate to have fallen in love with a perfectly sweet & beautiful yet passing fragrance In which I long to keep as a signature fragrance indefinitely. Heartbreaking to say the least. but then, .....such is the story of my love life thus far!

Season tried for the first time was January in Albuquerque NM in comfortable winter daytime sunny temps between 40 & 55. wafts of this fragrance continued for around a 6 hr period and stayed pretty consistent though lightening a bit all the way to the dry down. let it be known I do tend to have a heavy & unapologetic hand when applying perfumes, and do tend to experimentally layer. However, I have found caline to be one of those rare perfumes that does not “require” layering to put me in perfume heaven. Caline truly is pleasantly complex and beautiful. Love this perfume so much I purchased several more with the intention to test it though all seasons.

This is a sweet patchouli perfume I layer it with Britney Spears Fantasy since it has some common notes. They are very nice together. Fantasy helps carry Sweet Appeal on for longer. Im very happy with this perfume. This is a gourmand type patchouli not stinky type.

I love this - it smells like a sweeter, more wearable version of Angel.

I bought this because it was on clearance and I wanted to try another from Grès as well as another one from Nathalie Lorson. I had her Weekend for Women; I liked her Cool Water Sensual Essence a lot, and I loved the sample of L’Amour Lalique enough to buy a bottle. Flor del Sol is also by her even though the nose is not listed on Fragrantica. All these are different from each other and from Sweet Appeal. Sweet Appeal opens up fruity-citrusy fresh with a slight bitter nuance. I believe this is the kumquat, which I adore particularly. I like this part the most. It grows floral and lactonic towards the middle but not that sweet even then. I seem to detect a smoked tinge at later stages, possibly from the patchouli even though it’s not pronounced as itself in this like in many others I own with that note. This fragrance is not monotonous as I keep catching varying wafts here and there but none unpleasant. The juice in my bottle seems fresh as I’m not picking up anything funky whatsoever, and I’m not sure what could be perceived as synthetic or challenging about this fragrance either.

What an untimely demise of a lovely fragrance by Gres. I added Caline-Sweet Appeal recently to my collection because the notes were very much to my liking. It’s a soft lovely fruit-chuli fragrance with beautiful floral highlights. It begins with the loveliest soft fruits, it seems as though along with the Kumquat I detect a true peach note as well. The soft white chocolate floats in the background in and around the pale jasmine and beautiful Heliotrope. The Patchouli base note is clean not dirty, it balances the sweetness of the fragrance to keep it from overpowering the scent. It also reigns in the musk so that it doesn’t get out of control. The Sandalwood and patchouli are the perfect combination to ground all of the sweetness of the fruits and florals. It’s a lovely fragrance that can work in every scenario you put it in. Definitely feminine, softly gourmand, soft throw and a decent 4-5 hour sillage. My only regret is that I didn’t find her sooner than I did.

A fruity, sweet, very light perfume. (NO WAY does this smell like Angel, which I have been wearing since 1992 when it was first launched.) So- a peachy sweet bite, juicy and kind of yummy. When I first sprayed wasn't at all sure I liked it. But, after giving it time, it began to grow on me. The white chocolate note is very smooth and not overwhelming. The patchouli in the drydown is also very muted, just enough. A nicely blended perfume. I am one to spray heavy and often. That's ok, because this perfume tends to be lighter, sits closer to the skin. Lasts well on clothes. Not a groundbreaking perfume, nothing very original but quite nice for a sweet perfume. The price is crazy good.

I'm actually expanding my horizons and starting to explore (and appreciate!...weird..) sweeter scents. They are just the thing for the holidays along with my spicy orientals. The fruity kumquat and earthy patchouli are the main driving forces in Sweet Appeal. It almost has an apricot quality to it which may be why I'm attracted.I actually wish there was a little more white chocolate. (oh my gosh...who is that woman? More sweet? Blasphamy!) There are definately more sugary scents out there. Lasting power's pretty good, 4-5 hours and a hint of sandlewood does peek it's head out in the drydown. All in all, I'd say it's pretty good quality for the price.

I'd never tried a Gres fragrance until this one. White chocolate was the draw card for me. There's a very strong hint of root ginger in there as well. It's a nice day time fragrance, good for summer, and lasts about 4-5 hours on my skin. A nice FFG for the office.

have a tester bottle that hasn't been sprayed, so take with that what you will. This could need some time to blossom. I had been curious about this one for a long time, due to the inexpensive price tag, lack of reviews, and odd set of notes. This is a weird one for sure. I can say for certain, this is not blind buy safe, this is not mass appealing, and this will be a challenging scent for most. This is pretty synthetic, especially in the opening. Right off rip, it instantly reminded me of Heaven Sent Dana for women, but the majority of that only lasted about 15/20 seconds. This also reminds me a bit of cher's 60's Couture as well, but it's not a dupe. Upon the first spray, you're immediately hit with a STRONG blast of sweet powder, citrus, and something VERY synthetic, and VERY screechy! The citrus in the opening feels pretty vintage, like something from the 80's. Something in this just smells way too dated for my taste, personally. Even though this fragrance was only released in 2007. If you've ever tried burberry touch for men or women, the powder is that level of strong. Or like the powdery-ness that is just like the powdery-ness that is Heaven Sent Dana for women. The powder is the star of the show here, and it will last from start to finish. After 15 Minutes or so, you start to smell the florals, the patchouli, and the white chocolate. It's like a perfumed, white chocolate bar, that's been sprinkled with baby powder. It WAS kinda nice for a minute there, but then...... DEAR God does it go bad! .....After 30/45 Minutes or so, this thing takes a turn for the worst. (It may be just my body chemistry though, but who knows) Getting into the dry down, this straight up smells like urine soaked baby diaper. Most mom's know the ones I mean! Those ones that are brand new and smell of sweet baby powder, but then your child decides to unleash a weeks worth of urine into them overnight! I literally can't compare the smell to anything else. It literally smells like baby powder, white chocolate, some florals and straight urine. (I'm assuming it's a citrus on my skin giving off that smell) (Wear time, projection, and scent trail is pretty average) All in all, this isn't a win, or a repurchase for me. Just no. This fragrance is just a mess. I'll let it sit and open up for a bit, let it macerate. Only time will tell if this changes, or gets better. But I highly, highly doubt it.

Sweet, sweet and again sweet. Too sweet and.....nothing more, not much more after that.Not for me, sorry.

Received this as another one of my blind buys today. The first spray smelled like a lighter version of Angel. There is some note in this perfume that I don't like and I have found it in some of Roberto Cavalli's perfumes too but I don't know what it is. When I find out maybe I'll steer clear of it. Not sure if others smell the same thing I'm smelling. I like it but prefer Cabotine Gres. I will use this perfume sometimes, it is sweet but I need to get a better hold on if I can stand it all day long.

Update.....it's the Jasmin, it makes me sick. I have it growing by my house and it does someting to me when it blooms. That is what I'm finding in the Caline and the sweet appeal as well. Oh well. I do like them both and will wear it if I can get past the JASMIN. It's a very nice fragrance but maybe not for me....will keep trying.

nice sweet fragrance,not very gourmand (for me),more fruity sweet with patchouli, a little dark,sexy.Price is really nice for this perfume!I couldn't find similarities with other Caline versions,but prefer this one.Good job.
